07:27 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:29 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:31 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:33 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:35 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:37 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:39 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:41 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:43 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:45 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:47 We've got a lot of great stuff going on.
07:49 And, you know, plays well enough.
07:51 He was considered at that time the German Rondo.
07:55 And he plays, I think, offensively,
07:58 he's probably a better version of Rondo
08:00 shooting the basketball from the outside.
08:03 Rondo, a better playmaker.
08:05 But, yeah, I can see the similarities
08:07 of who those guys were and what a tribute it is
08:11 when you think about, man, you're--
08:15 they're comparing me to--
08:17 they're saying I'm the German Rondo.
08:19 I remember one time there was something
08:21 happening to me like that, and Ed Pinckney,
08:23 they said Ed Pinckney, who played with the Southern Slater,
08:27 he was a poor man Cedric Maxwell.
08:29 I was like, damn, that's a compliment like hell
08:32 for you to say, you know, somebody--
08:34 - I never heard that. - --poor man.
08:36 Not a poor man, Cedric Maxwell.
08:38 So that was really cool.
08:40 - That's funny. I didn't know that.
08:42 You must have--that must have put a smile on your face
08:44 when you heard that. - Yeah, yeah.
08:46 Those things--but, you know, just the way I've been
08:49 so fortunate, and I think about, you know,
08:52 when I was a young kid, and I've had a lot of people
08:55 walk up to me many times in my life and say,
08:58 "I used to be you in the park."
09:00 And I was like, they couldn't stop me.
09:02 And my name--I'm like, I'd score 'em back.
09:04 "Cornbread scores! Cornbread!"
09:07 So those are really cool things, I think,
09:10 about how I was when I played, that I was somebody else
09:13 when I was in the park, and then for somebody to be you
09:16 in the park playing, that's a--that's really a cool thing.
09:20 - You know, it's interesting you bring up Giannis
09:22 because I just--I've never seen, you know,
09:25 just from print, right, 'cause of the interview
09:27 and everything he was saying about he's not fully going
09:29 to commit to this team until he sees how this season unfolds.
09:33 But it's like, I get the sound--I get the feeling,
09:36 I should say, that Giannis just didn't see
09:38 a first-round knockout ever happening, man.
09:41 And he's like, "Listen, if you want to go ahead
09:43 and get a new coach and everything,
09:45 this guy better be it because I'm not staying here
09:48 if that's not the case."
09:49 He sees what Boston's doing.
09:50 He sees what, you know, obviously what Miami pulled off.
09:52 Philly's a mess, and he's like, "Man, when are we gonna
09:55 get it together?"
09:56 But then at the same time, Max is like, "Wait, isn't this
09:58 the team that you wanted?
09:59 Isn't this the roster that you asked for?
10:01 Does it really come down to the coach?"
10:03 - But isn't it--but isn't it also just--
10:05 - I don't understand that, Max.
10:07 - Didn't you just win a championship?
10:09 Didn't you just win--you won a chip,
10:12 whereas most people in the NBA are screaming.
10:16 You know, the Charles Barkley's of the world
10:18 who'd never won one.
10:19 People, you know, tease him to this day.
10:21 But Giannis was able to go get a chip.
10:23 What did he say when he dropped the 50-piece,
10:26 as he said, when he went to Chick-fil-A,
10:29 "Give me a 50-piece," when he dropped the 50
10:32 on Phoenix at that time?
10:34 - Phoenix, yeah, yeah, the bottom.
10:36 I think that it's--sometimes NBA players--
10:39 I think it depends on what day it is,
10:42 what time it is, and, you know, frankly,
10:46 that's how it is with the way they play.
10:49 - Get ready for the NFL season with incredible offers

11:21 Kick off the NFL season with an offer
11:23 you won't want to miss.
11:25 FanDuel, official partner of the NFL.
11:28 [dramatic music]
11:31 - Mm.
11:32 - Yeah, 'cause to me, Mac-- - And what they want.
11:35 - To me, Mac, this is more about the roster.
11:37 This is about the rest of the Eastern Conference
11:39 not only catching up to them but going past them.
11:41 You know what I mean?
11:42 Chris Middleton hasn't been the same player.
11:43 Drew Hall, they have slotted into that number two spot.
11:45 That's not a bad thing, but, you know,
11:47 they need some more of that support--supporting cast
11:49 to improve that supporting cast,
11:50 and they weren't able to do that 'cause, in my opinion,
11:53 you know, Giannis is so faithful and so, you know,
11:56 all about his teammates that he didn't want
11:58 to switch things up, and for him to say, like,
12:00 "Oh, no, this is about the coach,
12:01 and I'm not quite sure about the coach,"
12:02 it's just like, "Mm, is this really about the coach?"
12:04 It is--do you really think that Coach Buddenholzer
12:07 could bring this team back all the way to the
12:09 Eastern Conference Finals next year?
12:10 Like, do you really believe that?
12:11 I don't know, Giannis, you know?
12:12 - Yeah, yeah.
12:13 I think it does, you know, but so many times
12:16 I've heard Charles Barkley talk about that.
12:18 He said he was mad at Shaq because he said,
12:22 "Hell, you weren't one of the great teams.
12:25 You had Kobe Bryant with you."
12:26 And Barkley said, "Who did I have with me?
12:30 Bob Marley," but he did have--
12:31 I think Steve Nash was there.
12:33 - Yeah, Marley.
12:34 - So, yeah, he had certain players who were there
12:36 who played with him, but, you know, I just think--
12:39 no, Steve Nash, excuse me, wasn't there.
12:41 He had moved on to--
12:42 - Oh, no, no, you're talking about--yeah, yeah.
12:44 You mean the Kevin Johnson team and Dan Marley?
12:49 - Yeah, and Barkley had some players,
12:51 but he didn't have those all-star players,
12:55 and those all-star players sometimes make a difference.
12:58 It's like people forever have said, "Well, Michael Jordan
13:01 never would have won without a Scotty Pippen,"
13:04 or vice versa.
13:05 They wouldn't have won with him,
13:06 but the Scotty Pippen's, you know, ex-wife,
13:09 what is she doing right now with Michael Jordan?
13:11 Michael's--oh, it's too soon.
13:13 - What'd that take, about 15 minutes of me
13:14 putting that shit together?
13:16 They're about to get married, man.
13:17 That's a new rumor.
13:19 - Ooh, boy.
13:21 - What's that guest list gonna look like?
13:23 - Daddy knows best here, okay?
13:26 - Son, don't do it. Don't do it to yourself.
13:29 - Who makes the guest list? Who makes the guest list?
13:31 Come on. - Oh, it won't be Michael.
13:34 It will not be Michael.
13:37 It will not be Michael.
13:39 - He's just gotta pull up, man.
13:41 - What was that song your boy had
13:44 that you loved so much with Jamie Foxx?
13:48 - Oh, "Gold Digger"?
13:50 - Wow, wow, you nailed that.
13:54 - I mean...
13:57 Coming in, I made the connection real quick.
13:59 - I didn't say, "Yay, what do you have?
14:01 "Gold."
14:02 She wants my money all the time.
14:07 - Could be a little bit of that going on.
14:08 Could be, potentially.
14:09 - She's a tramp, man.
14:11 - Hey, what if it's love?
14:12 What if it's love, Max?
14:13 Could be real love.
14:14 - She's a gold digger.
14:16 Yeah, okay.
14:18 Okay, I just--I don't know.
14:20 I think that--I think--
14:22 She has a proven track record, doesn't he, Josue?
14:25 You know, what she's done.
14:27 So, I mean, I think that Michael's looking at it
14:29 going, "Son, what are you--
14:31 "No, no, no, no, don't."
14:33 And if you're a father,
14:35 and now that you are a uncle, Josue,
14:39 you know, you can speak on this
14:41 of what you want for your niece.
14:43 - That's right.
14:44 - If you see a bum out there
14:47 and your niece is winning,
14:49 what you gonna say?
14:51 - That ain't it. That ain't it, right?
14:53 - Nah. Nah.
14:54 - We're gonna get rid of this loser.
14:56 - Nah, we ain't--so you're saying this about Michael.
14:59 - You can be real with you.
15:01 You don't want to tell your dad,
15:02 all right, it's cool, but be real with me.
15:03 You know this ain't the one, right?
15:04 Come on. - Yeah, exactly.
15:06 And that's what Michael's saying.
15:08 Michael's saying the same thing, like, you know.
15:10 But we all make mistakes,
15:11 and hopefully this doesn't cost him,
15:13 you know, what you think is love
15:15 or what could be love.
15:17 Sometimes it might not be love.
15:19 Only he knows, I guess, but man,
15:21 it has really stirred up something down here
15:24 in the Charlotte community about what happened
15:27 and Michael not giving his blessings about that.
15:30 - I love that.
15:31 I mean, not the whole story,
15:32 but the fact that, like, the Charlotte community
15:34 is like, man, this is hot news right now
15:36 because of connections to MJ.
15:38 All right, let's get to this, man.
15:40 Jeff Goodman, a recent interviewer
15:41 with Jason Tatum, he interviewed him
15:43 as an article on "The Messenger,"
15:46 and he talked about ultimately becoming
15:48 one of Celtics Mount Rushmore,
15:50 and this is exactly what he had to say.
15:51 "I would love to be on the Mount Rushmore
15:53 of the Celtics," said Tatum.
15:55 "Burr, Russell, Paul Pierce, and those guys.
15:57 They paved the way.
15:58 The one thing all those guys had is chips.
16:01 I have to get to the top of the mountain
16:04 to even be considered as one of those guys.
16:06 I want to be an all-time great.
16:07 I want to be known as a winner,
16:08 and I believe I will be," end quote.
16:10 Max, what do you think about that?
16:12 - I think it's great that he says that.
16:14 He identifies.
16:15 He looks at the history of this team,
16:18 and he's embracing it,
16:20 because a lot of times guys will be like,
16:22 "Hell with all that."
16:24 He's going to, barring his health,
16:26 you know, being healthy,
16:28 he will turn out to be--
16:29 he'll be one of the great scorers
16:31 and probably the best scorer
16:33 in the history of the Celtics
16:34 if he stays healthy.
16:36 - No question, and if he stays around, right.
16:38 - So I think that now, what you start to--
16:40 the way you really put yourself in Celtics allure
16:46 is by, you know, getting the ring.
16:49 You know, Paul Pierce, how did he finally get there?
16:52 God, he went, "Shit."
16:54 How did Kevin Garnett get there?
16:56 Ray Allen?
16:57 Those guys got rings.
16:59 And at the end of the day, it is--
17:01 as much as you want to say not,
17:03 it is true to sometimes to validate
17:09 your play in the NBA,
17:15 you have to come up with a ring.
17:18 - Mm-hmm. No question.
17:20 - I like what you said.
17:22 I really like what you said.
17:23 - Me too, me too.
17:24 And the biggest reason for me is that
17:26 it's not just about winning a championship,
17:28 it's that allegiance he has, you know what I mean,
17:30 to Boston, to the Celtics.
17:31 Like, I love that, right?
17:32 We talked about that a couple episodes ago.
17:34 Like, he hasn't done it yet,
17:35 but for a few years, I'm like,
17:37 "Man, I want to see him do one of these
17:39 with the Celtics uniform, look at the crown,
17:41 but hey, I love it here," you know what I mean?
17:43 This screams that. This rings that.
17:44 You know, it's not just about championships.
17:46 It's not just about, "Oh, I'm going to be a champion
17:48 or my legacy."
17:49 No, this is about being--
17:50 having my name etched into Celtics lore.
17:52 Like, you know, being one of those greats.
17:54 - Being one of those dudes.
17:57 - Yeah, exactly.
17:58 - It's so important.
17:59 I mean, it was just like--
18:00 I felt like I was somewhat one of those dudes
18:03 when I played.
18:04 But then when I had my jersey retired,
18:06 I was like, "Man, I'm one of those dudes."
18:09 I'm one of those dudes.
18:11 - Has that solidified it for you? For real?
18:13 - Well, I mean, yeah, that probably at the end did.
18:16 Because you can never come in that building
18:20 and say, "Who is number 31?
18:23 Who is that?"
18:24 And that will always be identified as with me.
18:29 Not Mikey Moore, not dead Fred Roberts.
18:33 - I love how you know every player who's won that.
18:36 - No, no, no, no, not those.
18:38 I think Xavier McDaniels might be--
18:43 - X-Man, X-Man wore 31.
18:45 - So there were some people, but at the end, Mikey Moore.
18:51 Okay.
18:52 - That shit must have pissed you off some.
18:54 - Yeah, that was it.
18:55 That won't work.
18:57 Okay.
18:58 - All right.
18:59 What would you give us the story?
19:00 How'd you get that call?
19:01 How'd you get the heads up when you first, first found out?
19:05 - The owners, excuse me, the governors of the team.
19:09 - Back then.
19:10 - Wickett and Paggs, they came over to me and said,
19:14 "What we want to do, we want to retire your jersey."
19:17 I was like, "Wow."
19:18 I said, "Wow."
19:20 I said, "So cool, man."
19:21 I said, "That is so cool."
19:24 And that's all I could think about.
19:25 And then when I got to the actual ceremony
19:29 to see Red Arback give me a backhanded slap,
19:33 that just was like uncool.
19:35 As he told me, he said, "You were a pretty,
19:39 "you looked at me, you were a pretty good player,
19:42 "but you weren't Paul Silas."
19:47 Paul Silas?
19:49 Paul Silas couldn't carry my fucking job, man.
19:52 I love Paul, Paul Silas was my guy.
19:54 I love Paul Silas.
19:56 But when Red said that to me, from all these people on my day,
20:01 I guess that was his way again of bringing me back down.
20:05 My big day, and you're not Paul Silas.
20:08 All right.
20:09 - Yeah, but you know, that's love right there.
20:11 That's love.
20:13 - That's a backhanded slap, Josiah.
20:15 I'm sorry.
20:16 That's how that works out.
20:17 So, it was so funny.
20:19 - All right.
20:20 Well, the beginning of that story was great.
20:22 I guess it didn't end the way I thought it would,
20:23 but that's awesome, man.
20:24 I didn't know that they had approached you like that.
20:26 - Yeah, they approached me like that.
20:29 So, for Tatum, yeah, I like what's being said.
20:34 I like his stance.
20:38 I'm like, "Yeah, I want to be one of the great Celtics of all time."
20:42 And that resonates with players who have been there,
20:46 who have done that, and I want to see him succeed,
20:50 just like I wanted Paul Pierce.
20:52 I was there when he finally got his chip,
20:54 and, man, Paul Pierce just came out just tears running down his face.
20:59 And I thought that, you know, I thought you'd be there to wipe him away,
21:03 Josiah.
21:04 - [Laughter]
21:06 - Boy, you are a Paul Pierce jock.
21:09 - I was high.
21:10 - I said, "Paul Pierce jock snipper."
21:12 - I was high.
21:13 All right, all right, all right.
21:14 Take it easy there, Max.
21:15 All right, take it easy there, all right?
21:16 I was a kid, all right, man?
21:18 I was a kid.
21:19 I grew up around that time.
21:21 Listen, listen, the ultimate underdog, all right?
21:24 Underdogs, real underdogs can relate in this city.
21:26 - Underdog?
21:27 Paul Pierce is never an underdog.
21:29 He's always been a great player.
21:30 - Get out of here, Max.
21:32 Nobody was calling him that until KG came along, until Ray Allen came along.
21:36 - No, that's not true.
21:37 Paul, that's -- how do you think he got that name?
21:40 This is before.
21:42 How do you think they --
21:43 - Well, yeah, I mean, Shrack solidified him in '01,
21:45 but after '02, after '02, when he was balling out,
21:49 everybody was like -- it's like what he said,
21:51 "I'm a great player on a bad team," and everyone hated him when he said that.
21:53 He didn't get enough respect.
21:55 - He was a great player.
21:58 He was still a great player.
22:00 If you go back and you go back in that draft right now,
22:03 that particular year, I think Ola McCandie was taking number one.
22:06 Now you look at Dirk was in that draft and Paul was in that draft.
22:10 - Nine to ten.
22:11 - Dirk, I would have taken Dirk number one.
22:14 But Paul Pierce is going to be my second pick.
22:16 And Paul Pierce always said he felt like he should have been the second player
22:20 in the draft for him to drop down to the Summers.
22:23 That was a blessing for the Cs.
22:26 - I just feel like people forget about that prime, Paul.
22:29 And I think that has a lot to do with him saying all this stuff when he's on an
22:32 interview and when guys are egging him on because they know that he's not going
22:36 to step down for what he thinks.
22:38 That's why he's saying this stuff.
22:39 Like, listen, man, go on YouTube, like he said to the kids.
22:42 He tells them because he's like, man, people aren't – they don't put him up
22:45 there as high as he should be.
22:47 - I love when he said, "I'm as good as D. Wade."
22:51 - I like that, too.
22:52 - Now let me look at your face.
22:54 Let me ask you a question because you're a Paul Pierce fan.
22:58 Was Paul Pierce as good as D. Wade?
23:01 - One-on-one, individually?
23:03 - Don't get your shifty eyes looking away, okay?
23:07 Look right at me here, okay?
23:09 - Was he as good as – was he better than D. Wade?
23:15 - Was he better?
23:16 No, he didn't ask that.
23:17 He said, "Was he as good?"
23:18 Yes, he was as good as D. Wade.
23:19 D. Wade had a better career.
23:21 - He said, "I had a better career than D. Wade."
23:23 Paul Pierce actually said that.
23:25 - I don't agree with that.
23:26 I don't agree with that.
23:27 But I do think he's – talent-wise, I think he's as good.
23:30 - Oh, that was no question.
23:32 Paul Pierce was –
23:34 - Hey, you better – wax, you better look at that camera and talk to the new
23:37 generation because they don't – they think there's a gap.
23:39 They think there's a gap there.
23:40 - Paul Pierce was a bitch.
23:43 And he could play the game not only offensively but defensively.
23:47 So a couple of times where Kobe had the jump shot going to fall away,
23:52 Paul Pierce was able to block that jump shot.
23:55 So Paul just had a lot – he had a lot of clubs, a lot of clubs in his bag.
24:01 And he was able to utilize them, but it didn't really come true until he
24:06 played with KG and that team to really put him in the upper echelon of the NBA.
24:14 Before that, I'll agree with you.
24:16 He was a great player on a bad team.
24:19 And that doesn't equate to getting any respect in this league.
24:24 - He also went toe-to-toe with two of the best players in '08 to get that title,
24:28 against LeBron, against Kobe.
24:30 He was like, "Let me guard Kobe in this final."
24:33 - That's true.
24:35 - Two of the greatest players of all time, you had to battle them to win the championship.
24:41 So, again, kudos go to Paul Pierce.
24:44 - Absolutely.
24:45 All right, we'll get you out on this one, Max.
24:47 Noah Lyles, in a recent interview with GQ, I guess he's had a week or 10 days or so
24:52 to digest everything and all the backlash for what he said about the NBA,
24:56 crowning champions as the world champs.
24:58 He says, and I quote on GQ, "To be honest, I truly think the NBA is the best,
25:03 but there's a level of not understanding the two sides of sports.
25:06 There's the national side and there's the world side, and you can't have the world
25:10 championship title without facing the rest of the world."
25:13 What do you think about that?
25:15 - You know, I just talked about it just when.
25:17 You just asked me that.
25:19 I just said, again, you're playing against the world's best.
25:23 - Exactly.
25:24 - Noah Lyles, hold on, look at this.
25:26 [claps]
25:27 Clap back, okay?
25:28 No, these are the best players right now in the world you're playing against.
25:32 So, yes, you're playing against the best players when you have Jokic,
25:37 when you have – you can go on all these different – these are the best players
25:44 in the world, Dante's best player in the world.
25:49 You can just name the guys that you play against, and if you win a championship
25:54 that way, it's going to be Joel Embiid.
25:57 Is he not one of the best in the world?
25:59 Giannis, is he not one of the best in the world?
26:01 And they happen to play in your league.
26:04 - And why does the title bother him so much?
26:06 It's just a title, man.
26:07 - I think people are always slapping back at that profession because they don't have
26:14 as many opportunities to advance their cause money-wise.
26:20 I think that you can look at a couple of runners right now and you go,
26:26 "Man, Usain Bolt took it to another level."
26:30 Can Noah Laos take it to another level with his ability to run?
26:36 Usain Bolt was a showman.
26:38 He was a showman.
26:41 - That was crazy.
26:42 That was a crazy time.
26:43 - Yeah, and so I don't think – can he even be in that vein?
26:47 I think he's going to – and what it takes, though, is the Olympics too.
26:52 Noah Laos, is he – I don't think that he has been – he's not an Olympic champion,
26:58 is he?
26:59 If he is, if he's not, then you think of Usain Bolt.
27:04 He won three – at three different Olympics, he was able to win his events.
27:09 Three.
27:10 I won three events, and they happened every four years.
27:14 - Every four years.
27:15 That one race.
27:16 - That's why I'm saying, you know, I can remember Usain Bolt, you know,
27:19 places he ran.
27:20 I remember him running in Japan.
27:23 I remember in London.
27:25 And I remember down in Brazil.
27:28 So those were three different places that he was able, when it was a world's game
27:34 like that, he was able to elevate his game.
27:36 And I think that's what people are talking about.
27:39 - Right.
27:40 Right.
27:41 Well, just to – I just want to get it out there because I'm sure someone's going
27:43 to say something in the comment section.
27:44 He got the bronze in Tokyo, the 200-meter.
27:48 - But what is the – what's the bronze going to do for you?
27:53 What are you doing for the bronze medal?
27:56 - I'm just saying.
27:57 I'm just saying.
27:58 But, yeah.
27:59 We got one medal.
28:00 - What are you doing for the bronze medal?
28:02 What are you doing for the bronze medal?
28:03 I'm talking about – I'm talking about –
28:04 - You know in 2023, Max, people are going to say something in the comment section.
28:07 - I know.
28:08 You're right, and I'm sorry.
28:09 I don't mean to –
28:10 - But you just said the gold, right?
28:11 Did you take any gold?
28:12 - But he is the most dominant runner that we've ever seen.
28:18 The most dominant.
28:19 The most talented.
28:20 And for him to – for, you know, where he's at, that's a whole other level.
28:26 And to win in the Olympics the way he did in these Olympic events, that was crazy.
28:32 - Right.
28:33 No, no question.
28:34 I mean, sometimes I wonder if this tournament and, you know, the NBA was exploring
28:39 different options, if that was one of the things on the table, like trying to have
28:42 other club teams go up against, you know, the Celtics or whoever else,
28:46 but I'm sure the logistics and everything just wouldn't work.
28:48 - First of all, just wait.
28:50 Explain this to me.
28:51 What is this interleague midseason tournament?
28:57 What is that?
28:58 - They're trying to spice things up, Max.
29:00 They're trying to throw some incentive to win some extra money and just mix stuff.
29:05 - Hold on, man.
29:06 You realize that these guys might win, like, a million dollars a piece or something like that.
29:14 You know what it's going to do for – you know what a million dollars would do
29:17 for Jason Tatum's account?
29:18 Now, for my account, oh, hell, well, for Jason Tatum's account or Jalen Brown,
29:24 hold on a minute.
29:25 He just signed for $300 million.
29:28 I'm going to play in a game that I can make a million dollars.
29:32 Really?
29:33 - Yeah, but what about Peyton Pritchard?
29:35 You know, that's a lot of money for him.
29:37 - Certain players, I get it, but I'm talking about your star players,
29:42 the guys who generate attention for this particular event.
29:48 The Jason Tatums of the world, a million dollars is not going to change the way –
29:52 it might change Pritchard.
29:54 It would change most common people.
29:56 It would change me.
29:57 But for a million dollars for Jalen Brown, who just signed for $307 million,
30:07 they're going to change the world.
30:09 That's not changing his life.
30:10 So I'm still trying to figure out this midseason game and what it does,
30:16 the players.
30:18 But, you know, the NBA has always been great at marketing its product.
30:23 So I'm sure that they've researched it and they kind of know what they want to do
30:28 or what they need to do.
30:29 - I just wonder, like, if teams are going to bench guys, you know what I mean?
30:33 Like how serious are some head coaches going to take this?
30:35 What if they're like, you know what, I don't really want to play this guy.
30:37 You know, are they going to always play their best players?
30:39 Like what's the incentive?
30:40 I thought it would have been interesting if they did something else.
30:43 - Well, the games are going to count, though.
30:45 - Yeah, they're going to count.
30:46 I get that.
30:47 - The games are going to count the standings.
30:49 So that is better than the All-Star game.
30:53 - Right.
30:54 - All-Star game doesn't count in the standings.
30:58 - But the title game, you know what I mean, like leading up to it,
31:00 they're going to be playing in Vegas, the traveling, the schedule,
31:02 you know what I mean?
31:03 Like I just feel like if it was something like a first-round pick or something
31:07 like that.
31:08 - Hold on a minute, Joe Swift.
31:10 Let me start crying.
31:11 - I'm not saying that.
31:13 I don't feel bad for them.
31:15 - They got to travel.
31:16 Oh, my God.
31:17 They got to go to Vegas.
31:18 They got to play.
31:19 - If they want to win.
31:20 - Hold on a minute.
31:22 Please.
31:24 You know what this is right here?
31:26 The world's smallest record player playing "My Heart Bleeds for You," okay?
31:31 Come on.
31:32 I mean, I am not a hater on NBA players, but look.
31:35 - Hold on, Max.
31:37 - I've been able to touch some of their lifestyle by the hotels they stay in,
31:41 by the way they travel.
31:43 This is -- if you -- tell you what, let's transport some of these guys back
31:50 during the '70s or the early '80s and let them have to stay at the Holiday Inn
31:56 where they got shuffleboard or you're flying on a commercial plane and where you
32:01 got somebody's grandmother waking you up, "Excuse me, can you sign this
32:05 autograph?
32:06 My son just left.
32:07 My baby loves you."
32:08 - Do you guys have the trophy at the gate?
32:10 - Please.
32:11 I mean, come on.
32:12 Just wait.
32:13 Think of it this way.
32:14 Can you imagine winning a world championship now and the fans storm the court?
32:20 Storm the court.
32:21 - Oh, man.
32:22 - 1981, storm the court.
32:24 - Imagine the content on social media.
32:25 - Storm the court.
32:26 People running onto the court.
32:28 That never would happen now.
32:30 So there are things which have changed, some of them for the better and some of
32:35 them for the worse.
32:36 I mean, I just -- mine, again, I wish there was a little bit more, dare I say it,
32:44 a little bit more violence.
32:46 I happen to like Pistacuffs and --
32:49 - Oh, you mean like --
32:50 - That kind of stuff.
32:52 - Okay, right.
32:53 - Because what it does to me, it spices the product up that much more that you
32:58 don't know the unknown.
33:00 Now these guys are afraid to -- the last one that got punched like that was Kobe
33:04 Bryant.
33:05 Chris Childs gave him a two-piece.
33:07 - Oh, no.
33:08 Someone else got it worse.
33:09 - Who got it worse than that?
33:11 - Chris Paul, man.
33:12 Rondo gave him the two-piece and the biscuit.
33:14 That was a pretty easy bag.
33:15 - Yeah, that wasn't bad.
33:17 - But, no, that Chris Childs --
33:19 - Rondo's spinning his face.
33:21 The Chris Childs was like boom, boom, boom.
33:25 - It was like one, two.
33:27 - Kobe was like --
33:29 - He looked back at Chris like, "Did that just happen?
33:35 Like, damn, bro, you about that life?"
33:37 Like he was shocked.
33:39 Everyone go Google that.
33:41 I mean go YouTube that.
33:42 It's up there, man.
33:43 That was like -- and Chris Childs looking at him like, "Yeah, yeah, bro.
33:47 It's like that.
33:48 I'm like that.
33:49 I'm like that."
33:50 - He said, "You about that life?"
33:52 - Kobe's look was like, "Damn."
33:55 Chris Childs was like, "Yeah, man, I'm a real one."
33:58 - "I'm about that life, man.
34:00 I'm about that life."
34:01 - "I'm about that life.
34:02 What's up?"
34:03 - "I'm about that life."
34:04 - Rick Fox grabbing Kobe like, "Yo, forget it, forget it."
34:06 - Do we give a shout-out to Coach Prime right now for what's going on in Colorado?
34:13 - All right, man, go ahead.
34:14 Do your thing.
34:15 They beat Nebraska, right?
34:16 - Colorado just won the second game.
34:19 - Yeah, that's right.
34:20 The confidants were saying that the Colorado Buffalo were only going to win two games this year.
34:26 Well, the first two games they played so far, they won both of them.
34:30 And shout-out to -- shout-out to --
34:34 - Deion.
34:35 - Yeah, just the way -- just the way Deion Sanders has been.
34:41 You got to give him -- now, he can lose because he got Michigan and all these other teams on the schedule.
34:47 But, man, I tell you what, if he ran for governor right now in the state of Colorado, he's in.
34:55 - He'd have a run.
34:56 - That's how popular he is.
34:58 And his name, which I thought was really cool, is bigger than most NFL coaches right now.
35:07 And they asked him a question I thought was so cool.
35:09 I didn't get a chance to hear the answer.
35:11 But they asked him if he would want to coach the Dallas Cowboys.
35:17 Wow.
35:18 Stay tuned.
35:19 Stay tuned.
35:21 - This could just be the beginning, man.
35:22 It really wouldn't surprise me at this point.
35:24 - Stay tuned.
35:25 - It's unbelievable.
35:26 It's unbelievable.
35:27 He took on this challenge, and he's just smiling at all his doubters, man.
35:30 It's incredible stuff, man.
35:32 You look at a program like that, now they're ranked.
35:34 You know, they haven't been ranked, I don't think ever.
35:36 - Here's the thing I think is funny.
35:38 I had some friends over today, and they were looking at the game, and they said,
35:42 "Oh, his son right now is in the running right now for the Heisman Trophy."
35:46 I said, "They've only played one game.
35:49 Now two games.
35:50 Hey, and you're already in the running?"
35:52 So I think that the hype machine, until Colorado gets blasted, the hype machine is going to get bigger and bigger.
36:03 And you got to give Deion Sanders credit.
36:09 He goes on down the line, "You can't break me because you didn't make me.
36:13 I'm a difference maker.
36:15 I won all, and he has.
36:16 He's won every place he's gone."
36:18 So you got to give him more props, and man, we'll see what happens when Colorado plays again.
36:24 This is really a cool story.
36:26 - Oh, man, 100%.
36:27 I just love the press conferences, man.
36:29 It's got like a WWF vibe.
36:31 You know what I mean?
36:32 Like back in the day, they'd give their little speeches in between the matches and stuff.
36:35 It's like him against everybody else, and the team is just playing for him.
36:42 - Me against the world, baby.
36:45 Me against the world.
36:46 And I love what he says because he said, "Look, hell, I don't even play, but I'm fully invested right now."
36:52 Or people are fully invested in him in the news because I know Shannon Sharp is going to be…
36:58 Your guy, Shannon Sharp, is going to be all over this one.
37:01 - That's my dude.
37:02 - He's going to be all over this one with the Colorado Buffaloes because there was one guy who said, "Colorado is horrible.
37:09 They can't do this.
37:10 They can't do that."
37:11 The other one that led that first game, the guy had to eat crow.
37:15 What is he going to eat this week?
37:18 - I know, right?
37:19 Every week, they're going to have to have some kind of excuse or some sort of cop-out as to why they keep winning.
37:26 That's the fun part.
37:27 - Absolutely.
37:28 - We'll see how far it goes, man.
37:30 We'll see what happens next week, of course.
