00:00 Juwan Harris kind of struggled in this game.
00:02 You know, he only took one.
00:03 Well, he took two shots.
00:05 No, sorry, he took four shots because he actually took two twos and then two threes only made
00:10 one shot.
00:11 You only had five assists, whereas Marco Jackson had 10 assists on the game.
00:15 You know.
00:16 Who was it that stood out to you in this game that like obviously Hunter Dickinson was great.
00:21 He led the Jayhawks in scoring with 18, you know, and obviously Kevin McCullough was great,
00:25 but you kind of expect that from those guys.
00:28 Who was it that really impressed you the most?
00:32 I'll give you a Marco if you're given if you're getting a Marco, then I'll go with I'll go
00:36 with Johnny Murphy because I mean, come on, like that.
00:41 I think just because if you would say, OK, we have this young Australian kid who should
00:48 still be in high school right now, who, along with trying to adapt to, you know, college
00:53 level opponents, is also trying to go through the culture shock of moving to America.
00:59 And also, by the way, he's had shin splints, so he has not been practicing nearly as much
01:03 as everyone else on the team.
01:05 Missed the you know, some of the exhibition work.
01:09 And you know, all he does is score 15 points and just look like he is.
01:15 He just knows what he's doing out there.
01:16 He looks comfortable for the most part.
01:18 If he's not comfortable, he doesn't really show it.
01:20 A lot of comparisons are obviously being made between he and Sfi, but I mean, at least in
01:26 my eyes, he is well above where Sfi was as a freshman.
01:29 I think if you're trying to compare him, you're comparing freshman Johnny Murphy with maybe
01:35 sophomore junior Sfi here.
01:38 It just looks like he has a little bit more of a complete game.
01:42 Other than that, I was also really interested to see how Jamari McDowell did in in his debut.
01:47 Now, this is a guy who's probably not going to get that much run, but also just because
01:52 of the depth, like he might be one of those spark guys.
01:56 And you could already see the way that he crashed the boards and was just kind of that
02:01 high energy guy on there.
02:03 I think it's something that is good to have as your maybe eighth or ninth player on the
02:07 roster.
02:08 And then we talked about last time, like Parker Brown is just going to be a reliable backup
02:14 center who can go up and grab alley-oops and can block shots and get you six to eight points
02:24 in 14 minutes.
02:25 Because again, and we talked about this when Hunter Dickinson first came to Kansas and
02:30 we're looking into it, and I broke this down in an article.
02:33 This is not a Hunter Dickinson is not a guy who has throughout his career played 35 and
02:37 37 minutes a game.
02:39 He has been at his best when he plays about 28 to 30 minutes a game.
02:43 Which means you have 12 minutes without him on the floor.
02:46 And I think to have a guy like Parker Brown who can play 10 to 12 minutes, get you three
02:52 baskets, a couple of rebounds on a block like that is pretty valuable, especially when we
02:57 get into Kentucky and all that sort of thing.
03:01 So out of the non-mainstays on this team, obviously, I think obviously Furphy took all
03:07 of the kind of accolade and the social media was going nuts.
03:11 But I thought McDowell looked pretty good for his first game as well.
03:17 And then I think Brown, we know what he's going to be, but it's nice to just see it
03:22 again in the second, you know, back-to-back situation.
03:24 It's just that reliability.
