00:00 was dumped outside the shelter.
00:02 I'm Tanya and this is Cricket's story for GOP.
00:06 Haney and Cricket had been left with another puppy.
00:09 They were both just left in a cardboard box outside the shelter steps in early February.
00:14 When the shelter staff came in a day or two later, because they had been closed for the weekend,
00:18 they found her and the other puppy.
00:20 "I'm here."
00:21 "I'm here."
00:22 Cricket was adopted but then returned because the people were allergic to her.
00:25 So we adopted her.
00:26 We had several surgeries to repair her legs because she has some genetic deformities.
00:31 And after the fourth surgery, she's been healthy.
00:34 She's got a big old plate in there and some pins in there.
00:37 The other leg still has wires in there.
00:39 But she's done really well.
00:40 "I love you."
00:41 "Ahh!"
00:42 Everyone that has ever met her falls in love with her.
00:44 My co-workers act like she's a celebrity when she comes into work.
00:48 "Get in. Get in. Oh goodness."
00:51 You never know if she's ever had anything negative happen to her in her life.
00:54 "Don't cheat."
00:55 Even when we would take her for rechecks after her surgeries and stuff,
00:58 she would just love everybody there.
01:00 "You're in!"
01:01 "Oh!"
01:02 [laughs]
01:04 She's got that adorable pug and chihuahua look.
01:07 [laughs]
01:08 She's very expressive.
01:09 The more she wants something, the more that bottom lip sticks out.
01:12 "I love you."
01:13 I think that we are all Cricket's emotional support people.
01:16 "Happy birthday to you."
01:18 She loves to cuddle.
01:19 And if I'm home, she is such and cuddly all day.
01:21 "It's Daddy's turn."
01:22 If I'm not home, she is either stuck to my mother, my son, or my husband.
01:25 "It's Daddy's turn."
01:26 Once she sees somebody's home, she'll run through the house
01:29 to let everybody know that somebody has come home.
01:31 "You're beautiful."
01:32 She's got that little piggy tail.
01:33 When she gets the zoomies, all of it goes straight except for that little tip.
01:36 "Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack."
01:38 She's pretty hilarious.
01:39 I've always been a cat mom.
01:40 I never thought I would be a dog mom.
01:42 The old senior cat in the house kind of took her under her wing,
01:45 and then they all gradually accepted her.
01:48 So she's got a lot of weird traits, being raised by cats.
01:51 She grooms like a cat.
01:52 When they would groom after meals, she would lay around and groom with them.
01:55 "Tell me you want more."
01:57 She does a lot of weird cat stuff.
01:59 She's just never been around dogs, so she doesn't really know how to be a dog.
02:03 Even my son refers to her as a cat.
02:05 She's a little odd, and that's okay.
02:06 [cat meowing]
02:11 I have coworkers who have their little Cricut stickers that we've made.
02:14 And one of my friends at work said when I'm feeling down,
02:17 I look at her pictures because they make me happy.
02:19 She has just turned me into the dog mom I never knew I could be.
02:23 I might love her more than I love the cats because she's really that great.
02:27 Do you love your mom?
02:29 [laughs]
