00:00 Hello, my name's Laurence Smith and this is your Sussex World News Bulletin for Monday, January 15th, 2024.
00:07 The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has announced that progress has been made in restoring its IT systems.
00:14 At 11.30pm last night, a spokesperson said colleagues were working tirelessly to ensure systems are back up and running and stable.
00:22 At 10pm on Sunday, the Trust announced that the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Hayward Teeth have been significantly affected by IT and phone problems and they declared a critical incident.
00:36 They said that St Richard's Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital were also affected to a lesser degree.
00:42 They added that the ambulance service should not take patients to Brighton or Hayward Teeth and said people would not be able to telephone the Brighton and Hayward Teeth hospitals.
00:52 A woman has died after falling from a flat in Bognor Regis. Sussex Police confirmed the news after reports of a huge police presence in the town on Saturday morning, January 13th.
01:02 A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to reports of a woman who had fallen from a flat in Queensway, Bognor at around 10.30am.
01:12 They said the 35-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics. Her next of kin have been informed.
01:20 Eastbourne residents are set to protest against bus lane proposals today amid fears that the plans will have a detrimental effect on local homes and businesses.
01:29 Proposals to add a bus lane in Seaside, which would run from east of Gilbert Road to Langley Rise roundabout, have concerned residents who say it could potentially put a lot of people out of business.
01:39 A spokesperson for East Sussex Highways said the improvements are designed to provide a more reliable service for residents and visitors and encourage a greater use of public transport while tackling congestion in these areas.
01:51 Residents against the proposals will be marching to the Council Building in Lewis at 10am.
