00:00A whole host of celebrities hail from Lancashire, but have you ever wondered who the most famous
00:05Lancastrians are? I'm Amy Seddon, the celebrity reporter for both the Lancashire Post and
00:11Blackpool Gazette, and I have gone through every star from Lancashire to work out who
00:15is the most famous based on their Instagram followers, X slash Twitter followers and how
00:21many times they have been Googled over the past 30 days. So in this video, I'm going
00:26to run through the 10 most famous people from Lancashire, and starting us off in 10th place
00:31is comedian John Richardson from Lancaster. The 41-year-old is best known for his regular
00:36appearances on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie to You, as well as the TV
00:42show Meet the Richardsons with his wife Lucy Beaumont, although they did announce their
00:46split back in April. Next up, it is the footballer Phil Jones, who was born in Preston but lived
00:52in Shorley and attended schools in Leyland. The 32-year-old played as a defender for
00:57Manchester United for 12 years, and after retiring in May last year, he has gone on
01:02to be a coach for their youth team. The eighth most famous person from Lancashire is then
01:07radio presenter Jordan North. The 34-year-old hails from Burnley, but he did live in Preston
01:12throughout his teenage years, attending Pembroke and Priory Academy in Preston College, and
01:16again in his early 20s. Moving on from your radio to your TV screen, the next biggest
01:22Lancashire celebrity is the actress Jenna Coleman. 37-year-old Jenna is from Blackpool
01:27and was the former head girl of Arnold School, but since her school days, Jenna has gone
01:31on to appear in shows ranging from Emmerdale to Doctor Who, as well as a host of feature
01:37films. Tying with Jenna to be the sixth most famous celebrity is cricketer James or Jimmy
01:42Anderson. The 41-year-old England and Lancashire cricket legend from Burnley may have more
01:47ex-followers than Jenna, but he is not as popular on Instagram or Google search trends.
01:54Next up, we have a second radio presenter, Zoe Ball from BBC Radio 2. Also the presenter
01:59of TV shows like Mamma Mia, Any Dream Will Do, Zoe was actually born in Blackpool back
02:04in 1970 to the TV presenter Johnny Ball, but the now 53-year-old moved down south when
02:09she was eight. Another Lancashire-born footballer then comes in as the fourth most famous star,
02:15Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay may play for the Scottish national team, but
02:20he was actually born and raised in Lancaster. The 27-year-old can also claim to be the second
02:25most followed Lancashire star on Instagram.
02:29Now we have reached the top three most famous people from Lancashire, and gaining the bronze
02:33medal is the Hollywood superstar Ian McKellen from Burnley. The 75-year-old, who is perhaps
02:39best known for his role as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, is impressively the most followed
02:43Lancashire celebrity on Twitter, boasting nearly four million followers.
02:48The second most famous Lancashire star is then Preston-born cricketer turned TV presenter
02:53Freddie Flintoff. The 46-year-old is widely regarded as the UK's most iconic cricket star,
02:58and since retirement he has had a successful television career, starring on shows like
03:03League of Their Own, Top Gear, and Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams.
03:08So if Lancashire legends Ian McKellen and Freddie Flintoff don't make the top spot,
03:12who is the most famous person from Lancashire?
03:14Well, it's Tyson Fury, of course. The Malcolm-based boxer and father of an impressive seven children
03:21has the most Instagram followers out of all Lancashire celebrities, and is the most Googled.
03:26But will the Gypsy King's reign continue? We'll find out in due time.
