00:00I saw a ranking list from the NFL,
00:08the future power rankings.
00:09This came from ESPN and Dan Graziano.
00:14It says future power rankings projections for all 32 teams.
00:18And basically it's about where they think teams
00:20are gonna be in over the next three years
00:22and do an average on that and do the power rankings.
00:25And they base it on a team's roster without the quarterback.
00:36They rank the quarterback
00:37and they rank some other areas in there.
00:40And I thought it was interesting
00:43because of obviously we have interest
00:46of what's going on with the Lions
00:48and where it has the Lions in this.
00:55Out of the 32 teams.
01:00And it has the Lions ranked fourth.
01:03And it gives them an overall score out of 100 of 88.9,
01:07which is just out of the elite category, I believe.
01:10They have anything from, they say 100 is A plus elite.
01:1590 is A, which is great.
01:1680 is B, very good.
01:18Well, whatever.
01:18I mean, that's basic grades going through school.
01:23But only three teams rank ahead of the Lions.
01:26Now it says the Lions overall roster
01:28minus quarterback gets a 92,
01:30which in the NFL rank, they rank third with a roster.
01:35Coaching, they give a 92.3.
01:37NFL rank, third.
01:40They think that highly of the coaching staff,
01:42including Dan Campbell.
01:44The front office, they give a score of 88
01:47to the front office, which NFL rank is six.
01:51I'm not sure how you can look at what the Lions have done
01:55since this new regime came into power a few years ago
01:58and only ranked them sixth in the NFL.
02:02I don't think any team in the NFL
02:04has gotten more out of the draft
02:07over the previous three drafts.
02:09And I'm not including this one that they just had
02:10because we don't know yet.
02:11But the previous three drafts,
02:13has any team gotten more out of the NFL draft
02:15than the Detroit Lions and Brad Holmes?
02:18I think that ranking's a little low
02:20when you give it a six to the front office.
02:23And then they rank the quarterback,
02:25and the score gets an 81,
02:27and they say the NFL rank is 12.
02:31I'm not gonna fight too far on the Jared Goff ranking.
02:36I think it all plays together.
02:37I think the reason that Goff has played so well
02:39is because he's got an offensive line that protects him,
02:42they got running backs that can run,
02:44and they got receivers that get open and catch the ball.
02:48But not lost in that is they've got a quarterback
02:49who's smart enough to know where those receivers are,
02:51smart enough to make the right calls
02:52on the line of scrimmage,
02:53and talented enough to get the ball there.
02:57I think Goff is a top 10 quarterback.
03:00I don't think he's elite.
03:02I think that's reserved for Patrick Mahomes.
03:05And that's it.
03:06And then I think you have another tier
03:08of quarterbacks behind him,
03:10and it probably doesn't include Jared Goff.
03:12But in that next tier, I think he's there.
03:16But I'm not gonna argue with that too much.
03:18But here are the teams that rank ahead
03:20of the Detroit Lions in this.
03:22At number three, the Buffalo Bills,
03:24with an overall score of 89.5,
03:27which is just basically a half a point higher than the Lions.
03:32It says the overall roster minus the quarterback, 85.
03:3810th in the NFL.
03:40But they feel that their quarterback, Josh Allen,
03:44is the second best quarterback in the NFL.
03:46So they give him a score of 96.
03:47Coaching, they go 89.7, which is ninth in the NFL.
03:51In front office, they go fourth, which is also 89.7.
03:57Find that interesting that those numbers are there,
04:02and that Buffalo ahead of the Lions
04:05for these power rankings in the future.
04:07Again, this is about the next three years.
04:10Number two, Baltimore.
04:13The Ravens come in with a score of 91.6.
04:16The overall roster minus the quarterback, 89.7.
04:19That roster ranks fourth.
04:21The quarterback, Lamar Jackson.
04:23They give him a 93.
04:25NFL ranking, fourth.
04:27Coaching, with Coach Harbaugh and company, 92.
04:32NFL ranking, fifth.
04:35In the front office, they get a 92.3 score,
04:38which ranks third in the NFL.
04:41Is that too lofty for Baltimore?
04:45Well, they've built this roster.
04:46They've built a winning team that has been winning forever.
04:49So I don't know if I'm gonna knock them for that.
04:53What I am knocking them for is that they have the Lions
04:56far behind that in terms of front office.
04:59And then the number one team,
05:00I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise.
05:03It's Kansas City.
05:05What might be a surprise is how high the score is.
05:11They get a score of 95.3.
05:14Overall roster minus the quarterback,
05:17number two in the NFL with a 92.7 score.
05:22The quarterback, they give 100.
05:24He's elite, he's number one.
05:25I don't disagree with that.
05:27Coaching, they give a 96.7, which also ranks first.
05:32Andy Reid getting his props, and he deserves it.
05:35Front office gets a 93.3.
05:38That's an NFL rank of two.
05:40Now, why would it be that high?
05:43Because they've kept playing at this high level
05:46for a number of years.
05:48And the fact that they won the Super Bowl this past year
05:52with, I don't think, one thing I would disagree with
05:56is the overall roster minus the quarterback.
05:58It's an NFL ranking of two.
05:59I don't think it's that high.
06:01But I think they've been able to cobble it together
06:04and keep it going at that high level
06:06despite being behind salary cap restrictions
06:10because you have so much money,
06:12percentage-wise, at the cap,
06:13attached to just a few players.
06:15I think it's been impressive what they've done.
06:19But that's where the rankings are.
06:21I find it interesting, though,
06:22that the most one that I would have an issue with
06:25is, again, the front office,
06:27and having the Lions ranked as sixth with the front office,
06:30given how, basically, the entire roster
06:34has been completely overhauled
06:37from when Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell took over.
