02:07The Team USA coming back down 15 against Serbia in the semifinals

02:14If I'm being honest, watching in the second half
02:18or mostly in the fourth quarter
02:19I had completely forgotten about the Tatum thing
02:21I was just like, can these guys pull off the comeback?
02:24Yeah, I mean, if you listen to Steve Kerr
02:26It was one of the greatest basketball games that he had ever been part of
02:31I think that was...
02:32Who's saying that?

02:34Curry saying that?
02:35I mean, I think that's pretty wow to say
02:38It was a far more entertaining basketball game than everyone expected
02:43But this wasn't like a masterpiece of a masterpiece
02:47I mean, Serbia got hot as hell
02:51USA didn't...
02:54Switch didn't defend well for a lot of this game
02:57And then they got their act together in the fourth quarter
03:00And Buckled Down, Embiid came alive
03:03LeBron did LeBron things
03:05Everyone kind of checked the boxes
03:07Curry, Durant, all great
03:09And they won
03:10It was great, it was compelling
03:11But this greatest game ever, Garbage, is a bit much
03:15Are you saying that those guys are prisoners of the moment?

03:19Many videos I've seen of Kevin Durant being like

04:35And probably can't pronounce
04:37Knocking down threes
04:38And Serbia definitely...

04:42I'm sure there's many Viches

04:48And it felt like the USA was kind of like fine with that
04:51They really just didn't have anything going
04:54On the offensive end
04:55And didn't really pick up their defensive intensity
04:58Until they were down 15 heading into the fourth quarter

05:04It was very cool to see
05:07On consecutive possessions
05:09It was like
05:10Steph three
05:11LeBron
05:12Bully ball to the rim
05:14And then Durant
05:15With the long jumper to seal it
05:18That is what I think this team has been about
05:20It's mostly been about those three guys
05:22And it was cool
05:24I think in that moment
05:25It's like, oh, they're challenged
05:26They've dug themselves a hole
05:28Can they bring themselves back?
05:30And so
05:31To see the emotions
05:33Of those guys
05:34After the win
05:35Playing together
05:36It was just

05:38I had fun watching basketball this afternoon
05:40Which is, I guess, all you can ask for in the Olympics
05:42Yeah, I mean, Steph was incredible for most of this

06:05The huge surprise for me was that Embiid showed up in the fourth quarter
06:07Embiid was great

06:10He scored seven straight points there
06:12Was solid on defense
06:13It really
06:14He kept giving
06:15I don't know what the coaching decision was
06:17But they just kept giving a switch
06:19To Jokic
06:20Like Embiid would switch off Jokic
06:22And then Jokic would get like one-on-one against
06:24Either
06:25Burant or Devin Booker
06:27And I was like
06:28That doesn't seem like good
06:29Why are we just giving this so easily?
06:31Other than that
06:32And like
06:33Turn it over here and there
06:34Joel Embiid showed up
06:35And
06:36I've taken a lot of shots at him
06:37And will continue to take a lot of shots at him
06:39But when he performs well
06:41You have to give him credit for that
06:42Were you kind of rooting for them to

06:47Them to lose
06:48And Embiid just to be the
06:49The pure scapegoat?
06:51If it wasn't Embiid's fault
06:52It would have made it fun

27:52French team can't score, but they can certainly defend a lot better than.
27:56Yeah, but they were, it was 33 33 at halftime of this France Germany game.
28:00Like neither team could really score, but they like their French guards just don't
28:05have a lot of offense.
28:06Wemby doesn't have a lot of offense in this tournament.
28:09I think this, the team USA should be able to pull it out, but I thought they should
28:13be able to handle Serbia, uh, multiple times.
28:15They've said it a bunch of times.
28:16It's like, it's hard to beat a team three times.
28:18And I guess in, in three weeks.
28:19And so that maybe that's just use the Celtics.
28:22I mean, team USA has not played, uh, France yet.
28:27So it'll be the first time, but it's going to be interesting, um,
28:30to see how that matchup goes.
28:32But like, maybe it's the type of thing where it's like, you know,
28:35the 1980 Olympic, uh, hockey team.
28:39The miracle on ice was against Russia was in the semifinal game and they still had
28:42to beat Finland.
28:44I don't know.
28:45Yeah, that's right.

28:46Uh, in the gold medal game, it feels like they probably had the big
28:49moment in the semifinal game.
28:51And it'll probably, uh, if I had to guess more of a letdown against France, but I
28:55think the environment with it being the French team making this kind of surprise
28:59run, um, in Paris, I think it will be definitely a cool, uh, a cool event.
29:04And, um, we'll see what happens.
29:06Maybe Tatum starts scores 40 points.

29:11If M48 turns back the clock, then anything's possible, which he did that a
29:15couple games ago.
29:17And that's the guy that he'd like, they need him, they need him.

29:27these games, which have turned into rock fights.
29:30France won today, shooting 22% from three.

29:43probably the harder playing team, but Germany was, was trash for a lot of that
29:46game and just points in the second quarter, the Germans, it was, it was just
29:53brick after brick dunked on by tough night.
29:58I mean, he, he gave us some chances late, but he was set up for, he had
30:02dunked on a bunch of times that I don't know if he thought a lot of that was
30:05throwing to him that it was a race to
30:08Wemby really kind of dominated him at the rim.
30:10Old friend, Dennis Schroeder, uh, some tough clutch, uh, misses
30:14at the free throw line as well.
30:16So, um, but yeah, it's, uh, certainly USA should take care of them handily,
30:22but given all the X factors involved, uh, we could have some more, some fireworks
30:27here, or you just, or maybe USA has a bad shooting night because Steph, you know,
30:32they shot 50% from three point range today.
30:35Um, and so that is something that is wild that they barely won that game
30:40despite shooting that well from three and kind of shows you, I guess,
30:45red hot from three and they kind of cooled off, um, which I think changed,
30:49uh, that game, but speaking of Wemby, the Christmas day games are out according
30:54to Sham Sharani of the athletic and Wemby is making his Christmas day
31:01debut against the Knicks.
31:03Uh, I would have maybe in the first game.
31:06So it's going to be Spurs at Knicks, Timberwolves at Mavericks, 76ers at your
31:12Boston Celtics, Lakers at Warriors, and then the Nuggets at the Suns.
31:18B Rob, any hot takes, any hot reactions for the, these Christmas day matchups?
31:23I'm kind of stunned.
31:24They're throwing the Spurs on Christmas day, but I guess that's the Wemby effect.
31:29When being MSG, like, can you, can you score 50 points on a really good team?
31:35I guess that's what they're going to be throwing them out there for.
31:38Um, I am interested to see, will that Celtics game with the prime prime 5pm
31:44window, or is that reserved for Lakers Warriors?
31:46Um, that'll be in the Lakers of the Warriors.
31:48Aren't going to be good.
31:49I just, that's the thing.
31:50It's going to be the play in tournament, but will they get higher
31:53ratings than Celtics Sixers?
31:55The question is, it's your, maybe not because the Sixers, that's going to be,
31:58if that's the first time those teams played during the season, which is very
32:01much possible, uh, for a Christmas game, that would be must see TV on,
32:07on Christmas day for the East.
32:08I think it's going to be a very good game against the 76ers.
32:11I've completely forgotten that the 76ers added Paul George.
32:16Um, and so like, there's going to be much more spice to that game.
32:19I, but like, I've just not really, I guess, registered that I was hoping for
32:24Knicks because I do think like the Celtics are on top of the Knicks.
32:27I feel like teams have, or people have anointed the Knicks of the
32:31number two team in the East.
32:32And so I was kind of like, I do like the Celtics.
32:35I like the idea of Celtics for some reason.
32:38I like the idea of Celtics at Knicks on, uh, in MSG on Christmas day.
32:41But if the Celtics are defending champs, they should probably get
32:44the Christmas day home game.
32:46Um, I was also surprised by the Spurs.
32:49I feel like the Bucks kind of got insulted here.
32:53Um, the thunder definitely got insulted here.
32:56And I guess you're going for, um, more sizzle.
33:00Like I've heard people like saw some commentary be like, Oh, they
33:03got to go for the big markets.
33:04Well, then you're going for San Antonio.
33:06It's like, I don't know.
33:08I think the Bucks deserve to be there.
33:10I think it would make sense to have four teams in the East
33:13and, um, six teams from the West.
33:16I get the Lakers and Warriors.
33:17They have LeBron and Steph.
33:19They're not good teams.
33:20Neither of those teams are going to be good.
33:22And I don't think maybe it's blasphemous to say that they
33:26shouldn't be on Christmas day.
33:28They shouldn't be on Christmas day.
33:29They should, it should be Bucks at Knicks and then play the Spurs
33:32against the thunder and display your best basketball players.
33:35And you're like, you should be striving to have the 10 best teams play on
33:39Christmas, not just the seven best teams, Wemby, and then two aging stars.
33:45I know the Lakers and Warriors have two big markets, but they're
33:48not going to be good teams.
33:50And that's not going to be like a compelling basketball game.
33:53It just doesn't make any sense to me.
33:55They're worried about the NFL.
33:56They got, yeah.
33:57Put on the biggest stars to go up against NFL games.
34:00But have faith in your product of like good basketball.
34:06LeBron, no matter they're going to, even if they're, you won't see
34:10LeBron or Steph Curry get bumped from any TNT games as if those
34:14teams fall out of it, and that just shows you to like the, the
34:17reach those guys still have, even as they go past their primes.
34:22But as we see in these Olympics, like they can still put up some,
34:26some pretty memorable games.
34:27And that's what they're going to be banking on, on, on ABC that people who
34:32cares if it's a couple of 500 teams, we just want to see those guys play.
34:36But like, will it, I just don't think it works.
34:39I don't think it works that way.
34:39If it's, if it's a bad LeBron versus or a bad LeBron Lakers
34:43versus a bad Steph Warriors, people aren't going to tune in.
34:48Especially if it's like a later zone, they're going to be
34:50flipping over the NFL game.
34:51Like put your best, the like best teams in that opportunity.
34:56Okay.
34:56So you should definitely be on there.
34:59Is it silly to care about this much about a game that is scheduled for
35:05four and a half months from now?
35:07Maybe, but that's the kind of, kind of, if the news is released
35:12today about the NBA schedule, I'm going to react to it.
35:14And we got the news about 10 minutes before recording.
35:17So bad job, NBA, bad job.
35:20Well, I'm looking forward to the full schedule coming out.
35:23I'm guessing next week at this point, if this is leaking now,
35:26we'll probably get that.
