00:00:00Welcome into a brand new episode, a crossover episode, Patriots Beat Patriots Daily coming
00:00:06to you on the second to last block ending practice of Patriots training camp.
00:00:13So it means second to last crossover show, at least of camp.
00:00:16Thank you everybody for your patience.
00:00:18If you've been watching the shows the last few days, you know, Mike's computer freaking
00:00:21sucks and he had to go find another one.
00:00:24We sent him out knocking a door to door down his neighborhood, trying to borrow his neighbor's
00:00:30computers until somebody was finally kind enough to give him one.
00:00:35So if Mike, you better have a good show cause we waited eight minutes for you.
00:00:39So you got to make it worth the wait.
00:00:40Uh, it's my Catholic Taylor Kyles from Patriots Daily, Alex Barth, Brian Heinz from Patriots
00:00:46Beat after the Patriots wrapped up, uh, practice 17 of training camp as we're really starting
00:00:53to get to the end of this thing here.
00:00:55The big news really from the last three days, if you've been watching these crossover shows,
00:00:59we, you know, we don't just do necessarily practice today, but the entire block of practices
00:01:04before the, before the off day is we thought on Saturday we were getting some major movement
00:01:10in the offense.
00:01:11It was a non-padded practice on Saturday.
00:01:14They moved some guys around.
00:01:15Some of that stuck throughout the next two days.
00:01:19Some of it didn't.
00:01:20Started quarterback where it really didn't.
00:01:23Drake may got one drive late in Saturday's practice with the starting offense.
00:01:26It was a walkthrough.
00:01:28We haven't seen him back with the one since Gerard Mayo did say today that there's a chance
00:01:33for Drake may to start week one, but in the same, you know, in the same press conference,
00:01:37he all said it's very important for Drake may to get reps with the starting offense.
00:01:40So he's ready for that opportunity yet.
00:01:43No such reps have occurred.
00:01:45So it still feels like Drake mays on the outside looking in.
00:01:49And I'm, I am personally rolling out week one.
00:01:51I know Gerard Mayo said, I just don't think the time is there.
00:01:55Can he still close the gap between now and then?
00:01:58Yes.
00:01:59But I just don't think that, that the gaps can be completely closed.
00:02:02You can narrow the gap, not close it.
00:02:04Although Mike, cause you brought this up on Twitter today.
00:02:08Yeah.
00:02:09There is an interesting parallel.
00:02:10Finally, this is everybody knows I've been the first one to come on here and say, it's
00:02:14not like 2021 because this, it's not like Mack and cam because that.
00:02:19Maybe we got our first parallel to 2021 today, Mike.
00:02:22Yeah.
00:02:23So when I was just a young whippersnapper, a young intern with the CLNS media network,
00:02:29I was around Patriots practice here and there alongside Evan and alongside Alex.
00:02:33And it was, it was max rookie year and cam Newton was the incumbent starter, like Alex
00:02:39just mentioned.
00:02:40And, and something that I noticed was anytime Belichick had the opportunity to, whether
00:02:44it was after they drafted Mac, whether it was during a, a good stretch of practices
00:02:49for Mac or when it was, you know, cam Newton didn't look great.
00:02:52Belichick would always reiterate that cam Newton's our starting quarterback.
00:02:55Cams are starting quarterback.
00:02:56Cams are starting quarterback.
00:02:58And then at one point in time, and it, it sort of aligned up with when cam missed some
00:03:04practice when they went down to, uh, like it was when they went down to New York or
00:03:07he was in New York or something happened and Mac had a really, really good training camp
00:03:11practice against the giants.
00:03:13And he completed like 20 passes of 25 or what have you.
00:03:16And I don't remember the exact statistics, but they came back from the giants practice
00:03:21and then the rhetoric changed and, and, uh, Belichick was saying, well, we don't know
00:03:25who our starter is, and this is a competition.
00:03:27We're not going to assign it or we're not going to name a starting quarterback yet.
00:03:31And so that kind of, you know, that, that, uh, sounded the alarm bells in my head way
00:03:35back then.
00:03:36And so obviously what happened after that was again, cam had the, the, he left practice
00:03:41and what have you.
00:03:42Um, and then Mac turned out to be the starting quarterback and they cut cam Newton.
00:03:45And so today the same thing happened with Gerard Mayo where throughout the summer and
00:03:50in the OTAs and all that it was, and even Alex Van Pelt had said it as well, Jacoby
00:03:54resets our starting quarterback, Jacoby is our starter, Jacoby is our starter.
00:03:57And then today, um, Mayo goes on the Greg Hill show and says that there is a chance
00:04:01Mac Jones can still start this season.
00:04:03Uh, and today when asked, he said, we do not have a starter.
00:04:06We don't have a starter.
00:04:07And when I'm ready to name one, I will let you guys know.
00:04:10And so there is a parallel there, like you said, Alex, and it's also a parallel that
00:04:14it's coincided with the rookie quarterback having a stretch of really good practices.
00:04:19And I guess the difference here to me is that Mac Jones was seeing one's reps in practice
00:04:26and Drake may has yet to actually do that.
00:04:28So they can say whatever they want, but until they actually show that it's a competition,
00:04:32I still think you're right in that it's going to be Jacoby at least to start the season.
00:04:36But there's clearly some momentum in the quarterback room and it's coming out throughout
00:04:41Gerard Mayo, you know, through Gerard Mayo's comments in the media.
00:04:43I think there's one other difference too.
00:04:45One is that yes, uh, the, the rookie quarterback was getting one reps in 2021 Jacoby hasn't
00:04:51done anything out.
00:04:52He's, he's played poorly, but he hasn't done anything externally to lose trust of the team.
00:04:56Whereas Cam Newton left for a doctor's appointment and during the COVID year, you couldn't do
00:05:01that.
00:05:02Bayers 2021 to COVID rules at the time, you couldn't do that.
00:05:05He got a pseudo suspension in, in that accelerated things as well.
00:05:09But yeah, like I said, Gerard Mayo's talking like there's quarterback competition, but
00:05:13we're not seeing any evidence of a quarterback competition.
00:05:16Taylor, are you buying it or no?
00:05:18I kind of disagree with that.
00:05:20And I really don't want to put too much stock into like the offensive line rotations that
00:05:23we saw.
00:05:24And even the one time we saw him with the starting offense, it was a split field period
00:05:27where all the backups were on the other side.
00:05:29So literally there was no one to come in when Drake may was under center, but still it was
00:05:34a drive with the starters.
00:05:35And then this week, whatever the reasoning was, they mentioned that they wanted to, you
00:05:39know, practice worst case scenarios because there were injuries to Nick Leverett and Calvin
00:05:43Anderson.
00:05:44It's like, okay, well then why is Lane Robinson playing left guard and city?
00:05:47So is repping with Mac Jones.
00:05:49Like I think these things may be intertwined.
00:05:51It's kind of hard to know where to draw the line, where this is an offensive line experiment
00:05:54versus maybe they want to give Drake me more protection.
00:05:57But what's more telling to me is he's been repping with all of the top receivers.
00:06:01They're mixing in.
00:06:02It's not been a hundred percent.
00:06:03But it felt like before it was more of like Jacoby preset would get some of poke and then
00:06:07some of Baker.
00:06:08But now it's very clear that especially with Drake May and KJ Osborne, they got a little
00:06:13connection going there.
00:06:14Like this is a third day in a row where they've connected on a corner route.
00:06:18And I thought that play was actually another example of why I liked Drake May's potential
00:06:21starter because there was a coverage shift where the defense disguises cover one, went
00:06:26to cover two and Drake may usually would go underneath.
00:06:29Like you'd see him want to go deep, but he'd throw short.
00:06:31That was one of the first times I actually saw him try to attack the honey hole between
00:06:35the safety in the corner.
00:06:36So I think like you said, he's stringing together good practices.
00:06:39They haven't been perfect.
00:06:40This offense is far from a finished product, but it does look better when Drake May's out
00:06:44there.
00:06:45And I think the fact that he is spending time with some starting caliber players is telling.
00:06:50And with the offensive line, I think that's also been a representation of, you know, it
00:06:54may not make sense to us, but there is some kind of internal plan and they're trying to
00:06:58see how these pieces fit together.
00:07:00So you're, you're buying Drake may still on the table week one.
00:07:04Uh, tough, tough.
00:07:06But I think it's possible.
00:07:09Not likely, but possible.
00:07:11You think the door is still open though.
00:07:13You see a path to that.
00:07:14I think it really is competition, but I think Drake may is going to have to get to the point
00:07:18like we already talked about before all this, where the, it becomes the point where the
00:07:22teammates are looking around like we all love Jacoby, but Drake may is clearly better.
00:07:27Why is he not playing?
00:07:28Like I saw an argument about how, you know, um, he's playing all these tough defenses,
00:07:32but he's going to learn through experience.
00:07:34Like Patrick Mahomes, I was going through, he went on new heights and was talking about
00:07:37Alex Smith and him being a young quarterback and how he learned.
00:07:40He mentioned how he had no idea how to handle those like blitz looks that Belichick always
00:07:44had the five man fronts.
00:07:46He couldn't get it picked up and Belichick forced him to figure out how to adjust.
00:07:50Now that was, you know, a longer span, but it's the same thing where Drake is a quick
00:07:54learner.
00:07:55He's a quick repeater, which drive Mayo said is the key for rookie starting, put all those
00:07:59things together.
00:08:00I just don't understand why they would close off the idea of him potentially starting week
00:08:04one, especially because preset, he had one great plate.
00:08:07It's like one Thornton.
00:08:08But other than that, he hadn't been that good.
00:08:09Brian, how do you feel about how the coaching staff's handling your boy?
00:08:13I don't love it.
00:08:14Like I know Taylor just said, like, he's starting to get some time with more of those receivers,
00:08:20but I wonder if that's also just like they've lost some receivers the past few weeks, right?
00:08:26Like Juju's gone to play.
00:08:27Jackson got hurt.
00:08:28So there's just all the tight ends are hurt.
00:08:29So now they're just mixing.
00:08:31Like those guys have to take those reps.
00:08:33Someone has to take those reps.
00:08:34And I mean, I always just count first team reps as if David Andrews is snapping you the
00:08:39football and that hasn't happened yet either.
00:08:41So I wanted to see him.
00:08:43I think he's earned the first team for a while here now, and it just hasn't gotten, they
00:08:48just haven't given to him.
00:08:49So that's the kind of annoying that we can't get that evaluation.
00:08:53You know, I think the door probably still is slightly open that he starts week one just
00:08:56because he's been playing so well and on the opposite side, Jacoby's kind of falling back
00:09:00to earth.
00:09:01But, you know, you hear Gerard even though he says, you know, it's still open.
00:09:05He said we had this plan set from the time we drafted him and it might not be the most
00:09:09popular plan and we're going to stick to that.
00:09:11So that kind of made me say like, OK, they probably don't let plan.
00:09:15It's not popular with the fans.
00:09:16It's probably Jacoby Percet.
00:09:18So I think there's still a chance, but it's very, very small.
00:09:21I would still lean Jacoby week one there.
00:09:23All right.
00:09:24Me adding the practice, the chemistry with all the quarterbacks did matter.
00:09:28Somebody asked him that before practice.
00:09:29I just want to say that was also why I started to look into it more than I have.
00:09:33You know what?
00:09:34I'll add to one more thing.
00:09:35Alex, before I go for it, one more thought that I don't want to lose is something you
00:09:39always taught me was that Bill Belichick will always tell you the truth, right?
00:09:43It happened with the July thing.
00:09:44It happened with us on speed early on.
00:09:46Me and Taylor were talking about this this morning that, you know, that's that's something
00:09:49that's kind of been ingrained in my head.
00:09:51I think Bill Belichick says he either tells you the truth or he omits like, you know,
00:09:55he doesn't want to say anything.
00:09:56So he just doesn't say it at all.
00:09:57We don't know what Gerard Mayo's tendencies with the media are yet.
00:10:00So even if he says there might be a competition, he, that just might be lip service.
00:10:04So we don't know whether to actually trust that yet.
00:10:05Yeah.
00:10:06I'll tell you, Bill Belichick, he very, very rarely outright lied.
00:10:10Exactly.
00:10:11Right.
00:10:12And it just, so people understand that.
00:10:13And generally if he said something and maybe it could be interpreted a certain way, but
00:10:18there were very few things that he said that were just outright false.
00:10:21I count them on, on probably two hands, the amount of times that happened, I was covering
00:10:25the team, me throwing on what is a useless qualifier on this show real quick, Brian,
00:10:30starting with you, your thoughts on how Drake Mays looked since the preseason game, since
00:10:34the set that second preseason game.
00:10:36Very good.
00:10:37I think the words, you know, Elliot Wolf said it, Gerard might've even mentioned it like
00:10:40calm, confident.
00:10:42Seems like he's got a little more like swagger since that first game.
00:10:45And I know they didn't throw much today.
00:10:48I think each guy only had like six or seven throws throughout.
00:10:51It wasn't much reps for the quarterbacks, but just continue to look impressive.
00:10:55You know, Taylor mentioned yet another one of those, you know, corner routes to KJ Osborne,
00:11:00which was more aggressive than he's been in the past.
00:11:02He had a really nice anticipation throw to Keyshawn Booty in the hurry up drill, even
00:11:06though the hurry up drill failed and that's still the one thing you really kind of want
00:11:11to see from him.
00:11:12He hasn't had success in that part of practice where Jacoby Brissette, like he led a field
00:11:16goal drive today, had the play of the day at the Taekwon Thornton deeps.
00:11:19You haven't seen that success from May and you'd love to see him try to do it with the
00:11:23starters and see if that can lead to more success.
00:11:26But yeah, I think May has been really good and kind of brought that success from that
00:11:30first preseason game into these last three practices.
00:11:33Taylor.
00:11:34Yeah, I agree.
00:11:35And I will point out that it definitely hasn't been perfect.
00:11:37I think there were like one or two throws this week where he probably could have been
00:11:40intercepted like the one yesterday.
00:11:42Kind of forced it and went through Joe Giles Harris's hands and like both quarterbacks
00:11:46have had their shares of misses and miscommunications like that just comes back to the point that
00:11:50they're not ready yet.
00:11:51But yeah, Drake may still you can see the growth.
00:11:54I think that's the most important thing.
00:11:55You can't expect him to ever be perfect in a practice, and I don't think he has been
00:11:59perfect in any of these practices, but you are seeing, oh, he's getting like the things
00:12:03that he's saying he wants to improve on.
00:12:05He's actually improving on in real time.
00:12:07So, you know, that just kind of keeps stoking the fire for me of he's not hitting any kind
00:12:11of wall.
00:12:12It feels like this is just who he was at UNC, a quick learner who you want him to make mistakes
00:12:17because then he knows in those specific instances, I can't do that.
00:12:20I do this instead.
00:12:21So it looks like he's been doing Mike, I'll just I'll just add that he definitely what
00:12:26Brian said looks a lot more comfortable.
00:12:28And I think pairing that with the fact that reset hasn't looked as comfortable lately
00:12:33is making may look that much better in the competition, right?
00:12:37Because you stack it up against, you know, we can sit here and say, well, may looks good.
00:12:40May doesn't look good.
00:12:41But when you're thinking of he's in competition with Jacob reset, and is he ready to start?
00:12:46Well, if he's better than Jacobi, then he's ready to start.
00:12:49And I think the fact that for sets falling off a little bit is helping May's case that
00:12:52much more.
00:12:53And I guess I'm sorry.
00:12:54Yeah.
00:12:55No, go ahead.
00:12:56Go ahead.
00:12:57Go ahead.
00:12:58It's just like with the receiver situation, because like I've seen so much Mike, we've
00:13:00talked about this is why I brought it up.
00:13:02We've seen so much discourse about like Jacobi looks skittish or like he's late in all these
00:13:07things.
00:13:08I think when you see Jacobi, and it's in games, I don't think mentally there's really a problem.
00:13:12I think what I'm seeing a lot of is he's going 123 a lot, which tells you that his routes
00:13:18aren't open.
00:13:19And like one, the fact that KJ Osborne's would repping more with, you know, Drake may, I
00:13:22think part of that might be they're trying to get more juice in the offense with poke,
00:13:26which is what I was asking for.
00:13:27I wanted it to be, you know, maybe swap out Taekwon because I like KJ, but you're seeing
00:13:31there's more poke.
00:13:33I'm seeing in a lot of those critical situations, the two minutes, who is Jacobi going to most
00:13:36of the time pop like 90% of the time, he's going to pop short underneath and thinking
00:13:40and Duncan, the Taekwon thing was kind of an anomaly.
00:13:44I'm kind of losing my train of thought here, but yeah, I think that some of it is also
00:13:48the receivers and the talent that Jacobi is working with.
00:13:50Cause like he doesn't throw to Taekwon super often either.
00:13:53And really it is kind of the pop show.
00:13:55So I wonder if, you know, as odd as it is to say that with the starting quarterback,
00:13:59but kind of that's hindering his ability to perform as well.
00:14:02I'll just say this Jacobi Brissette coming back to Drake may remember at the beginning
00:14:09of camp, whenever he's freaking out about how wide the gap was between Brissette and
00:14:13may, and I said, it's not just about how bad may looks.
00:14:18It's also about how good Brissette looks, how over-expectations he is.
00:14:23This is the reverse of that.
00:14:24The gap shrinking, not just because Drake may is playing better, but Jacobi Brissette
00:14:27is playing worse.
00:14:28What's important to remember here is Jacobi Brissette playing worse.
00:14:32Doesn't make Drake may better that Jacobi Brissette's level of play should in no way
00:14:38be a variable one way or the other in Drake may's development plan.
00:14:42That's just doing yourself a disservice.
00:14:44So as, as they say, what about the team?
00:14:47But it's about the team.
00:14:48It's not just about Drake may.
00:14:49So winning the locker room is part of it, but I'm saying like Jacobi Brissette, we gotta
00:14:56be really careful.
00:14:57And the team needs to be careful in that Jacobi Brissette being more erratic with the football
00:15:02doesn't make Drake may more accurate.
00:15:05You get what I'm saying?
00:15:07And I feel like some people can get lost in that.
00:15:09And that is where it gets tricky with the locker room coming in.
00:15:11But if you're the coaching staff, there is a tipping point there.
00:15:15You can't lose the locker room, but you also can't get bullied to putting the kid in.
00:15:19If you don't think he's ready either, and there needs to be some give and take there.
00:15:23And I just think as fans and hopefully the team, and I trust the team to do this fans
00:15:28media, it's a little harder to not, you know, look at the, the shiny jingling keys, but
00:15:34Jacobi Brissette being worse does not make Drake may better.
00:15:38Jacobi Brissette's ability and production should not be a factor in Drake may's development
00:15:47plan.
00:15:48Now where the locker room stands, which maybe is impacted by their performance, that should
00:15:53have an impact, but I think that's fine with him being good.
00:15:57Like that's when everybody will see it.
00:16:00It will.
00:16:01And it won't.
00:16:02I mean, I think it will to an extent, but my point is like, if Jacobi Brissette's playing
00:16:05fine, right.
00:16:06If he's playing, okay.
00:16:10That's not a need to rush may.
00:16:11If you don't think he's making the progress that he needs to make, right.
00:16:16It really comes down to when I, I, I, I, I'm trying to figure out how to phrase this.
00:16:22You're right.
00:16:23Like you can't, the locker room is a factor, but I think with Jacobi, I guess it's going
00:16:28to have to be pretty bad for him to totally lose the locker room like that.
00:16:33And I think in the amount of time it would take for him to lose the locker room, realistically,
00:16:37may should be ready at this point.
00:16:39This isn't me saying may shouldn't play it all this year, but I guess it's more two bad
00:16:43weeks of training camp from Jacobi Brissette should not change the plan for Drake may and
00:16:49Albert Breer wrote this just before we came on that I was just going to go to this house.
00:16:54The Patriots weren't necessarily planning ever for Drake may to start week one, Jacobi
00:16:59Brissette having a bad few weeks of training camp does not suddenly make Drake may ready
00:17:04for week one, I guess is my point.
00:17:07And Breer writes to that with, you know, one component of starting may this early is the
00:17:12mental side.
00:17:13And can he go in and out, not in and out of the lineup, but if he hits like they need
00:17:19to be ready for him to, you know, have a bad week or two.
00:17:21And how is he going to handle that?
00:17:23Where that that's also part of the development plan, where if, if we're set, like you said,
00:17:28Alex isn't playing well, and you know, fans are clamoring for Drake may and the team thinks
00:17:32Drake may.
00:17:34Drake may could still be better than Jacobi Brissette at a time and his, and they're not
00:17:39where he's not where they want him at in this quote unquote development plan that they keep
00:17:43talking about.
00:17:44And I'll say this, I think that one thing needs to be clarified.
00:17:47I don't think anyone is advocating to force him out there.
00:17:51Like I think there are people, nobody here is, I think there are fans and that's kind
00:17:57of disappointing.
00:17:58Like you got to get off that.
00:17:59I'm like, I have, and you guys know, I've not been of the mindset that like he has to
00:18:03start week one.
00:18:04Cause I think that's unfair.
00:18:05I think there's pushback against him playing at all.
00:18:08That's where I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
00:18:10I think he's going to be ready at some point this year because I think he's going.
00:18:14And that's why I just think that reps are so valuable because he gets to learn on the
00:18:17fly and you can see the tangible improvement, but that can still happen to a degree in camp.
00:18:21But I completely agree.
00:18:22I don't want him forced out there.
00:18:23I don't want it to be, Oh, we got to start Drake make week one or to conform to fans
00:18:27because they want him because Joe Kobe's playing bad, but it's like, yeah, but Drake's not
00:18:30better either.
00:18:31It's like last year when everyone wanted Malik Cunningham against the Raiders, they got Malik
00:18:35Cunningham and it was like, Oh right.
00:18:37He hasn't played.
00:18:38This is insane.
00:18:39You expect him to be able to read a live NFL defense as a rookie.
00:18:42Like no one wants that.
00:18:44You know, it's never so bad that you ruin your future.
00:18:46That's what this year is about.
00:18:47And they even did say what you Kobe Brissett, like may Mayo was very adamant.
00:18:51He could be our starter.
00:18:52He didn't say, you know, bridge, he made sure to clarify he could have been a starter.
00:18:56So Brewer's report makes sense.
00:18:58I kind of just come at it from a different mindset because I've been saying like making
00:19:01start as a rookie.
00:19:02You don't need to redshirt him, but again, bottom line, don't force them out there.
00:19:06I think that should never be on the table.
00:19:09I just think that'll happen sooner than maybe people expect because they think he's not
00:19:12going to be able to handle competition.
00:19:14And that's Jacoby's asset as well.
00:19:16He can help him with that.
00:19:17All right.
00:19:18So that's 20 minutes on something that didn't change.
00:19:20Let's get to something that has, which is the offensive line.
00:19:23But first, whoever's in charge of ads here, we will, uh, we'll hear from one of our friends
00:19:27at game time, right?
00:19:31This is Pat's beat.
00:19:32Okay.
00:19:33I'm at a different thing.
00:19:34Real quick.
00:19:35I was going to my dog days of summer here in Boston, which means it's time to get to

00:20:46Roland Red Sox might need to update that read, but that's another conversation for another
00:20:49time.
00:20:50How do we get this?
00:20:51I got it.
00:20:52I got it.
00:20:53I got it.
00:20:54All right.
00:20:55Uh, offense line.
00:20:56We did see some changes on the offensive line today.
00:20:57It was still the same group to start that is left to right, Vidarian, low city.
00:21:01So David Andrews might go and win two troops, a core four, but at times, including in a
00:21:06two minute trail, there were changes, namely two.
00:21:10The rookies got their shot.
00:21:12Caden Wallace stepped in at left guard for city.
00:21:14So, uh, or sorry, Wade Robinson stepped in at left guard for city.
00:21:18So Caden Wallace stepped in at right tackle for troops, a core four.
00:21:21So the core right now, the offensive line seems to be very low at left tackle.
00:21:25I guess that's the one they're not touching for some reason.
00:21:27Uh, David Andrews at center and Michael and went to a right guard outside of that.
00:21:31We're waiting on the rookies.
00:21:32Taylor.
00:21:33I know you have some thoughts on this, including that I was alerted to this today.
00:21:37Did you suggest the other day on a show troops, a core four may not make the team.
00:21:40Oh yeah.
00:21:41Yeah.
00:21:42Yeah.
00:21:43No kind of, but it was more just because when he was with the Steelers, he said he wouldn't
00:21:46have resigned if he knew he wasn't going to start.
00:21:48Okay.
00:21:49All right.
00:21:50I had the casualty would be because he wanted to be cut.
00:21:55Not because they don't have the depth.
00:21:56They can't be just cut.
00:21:57No, no.
00:21:58That's actually, that's actually a really good take.
00:22:00And that would bring a question kind of as we go to the offensive line here.
00:22:05Well, if he's going to shoot his, cause he shot his way out of town in Pittsburgh, that's
00:22:09why he got cut shots by the town.
00:22:12If you're not going to start him, is he going to shoot his way out of town?
00:22:15Cause you kind of can't afford him to do that.
00:22:17So what I hadn't, I hadn't seen a core four and say that like, this is me getting this
00:22:21information live.
00:22:22Very interesting.
00:22:23If this guy can't be here, if he's not starting and like you said, they need the depth.
00:22:27So what did you think of the rotations today, Taylor?
00:22:30And I'll add this question cause we haven't even discussed this off the air.
00:22:33This is me genuinely asking, learning in the moment.
00:22:35I'm genuinely curious.
00:22:37Can they afford to not start Chooks core four on the risk that they lose them?
00:22:41Yeah, I was thinking about that.
00:22:43Like you're really playing with fire there.
00:22:46And like cadence under a contract for four years, like he's not going anywhere.
00:22:50I'll start with guard though, because I really been paying so much attention to the passing
00:22:55game and the quarterbacks and everything city.
00:22:57So sneakily has not been great run blocking in the preseason.
00:23:00Like he's had some pretty ugly losses.
00:23:02I was wondering, he's been like Leighton and him have been rotating more so than Caden
00:23:06and Chooks.
00:23:07Caden Chooks in the two minute drill, like that was something that really stood out.
00:23:10Cause it's like, Oh, now it's not just the rotation.
00:23:13You're specifically putting him in a critical situation late in.
00:23:16It feels like they're trying to actually see if he can start, which makes sense.
00:23:19I just thought they put him at right and then kick on when you out to right tackle.
00:23:23But even then you're stuck with another, like, what do we do with Chooks conundrum?
00:23:27Because Leighton Robinson's been damn near, I don't want to say perfect, no one's perfect,
00:23:30but he's been very good.
00:23:32Like there's not a whole lot that I could really critique when I went back and watched
00:23:35him.
00:23:36So I understand why they want him there with Chooks.
00:23:39We've mentioned it.
00:23:40It's no push in the run game.
00:23:41Like he's fine as a pass protector.
00:23:43There were a couple of times that a guy's gotten like right around him, which you don't
00:23:47love to see.
00:23:48But I think other than that, like for a guy that you just want as a bridge one year, he's
00:23:51fine.
00:23:52But the push next to him when he was obvious, like when he was churning the gap open and
00:23:56then he's just kind of standing in place and the guy still makes the tackle because he
00:24:00hasn't gone anywhere.
00:24:01Whereas Caden Wallace, one of his assets is that he is a big, powerful guy and they both
00:24:05had that really aggressive mentality.
00:24:07So man, I think, I mean, you can afford to lose Chooks if he's not playing well enough.
00:24:12You know, like if you, if your rookie is that good, then he's going to start for you and
00:24:16you know, Chooks doesn't want to be a backup.
00:24:18So let him go not be a backup somewhere else.
00:24:20You have your starter.
00:24:21But yeah, it's just, it's an interesting situation because it feels like a little bit of a little,
00:24:26I mentioned it in my quick thoughts.
00:24:27It's a little rookie revolution here because Jalen Polk has been the Z over KJ Osborne
00:24:32in two straight end of half situations, which last year we saw with pop when he was playing
00:24:37over Juju, even though Juju was playing like most of everything else.
00:24:39And it was like, Hmm, this doesn't feel like a coincidence.
00:24:42So you know, that's my thing.
00:24:44Yeah.
00:24:45Brian, how do you feel?
00:24:47I mean, I like, I like Wallace next to a window for a lot of the reasons Taylor just said.
00:24:51I know we talked about this when we were doing a show, like the push and the run game is
00:24:56noticeable and just, you're, you're playing another rookie.
00:24:59You're getting a rookie experience.
00:25:00Like that's this draft and develop plan where now you have maybe a full season of film on
00:25:05Caden Wallace at right tackle.
00:25:07And now you plug in Will Campbell at left tackle and you have your tackle.
00:25:10So you know, Chooks is on a one year deal.
00:25:12He's not going to be in the longterm plans, might not even be in the short term plans
00:25:16out.
00:25:17That would be kind of scary if he's just like out.
00:25:19And now, I mean, who's your number three tackle?
00:25:21Does Calvin Anderson's hurt?
00:25:24Chooks is gone.
00:25:25Callan Dice is your third tackle.
00:25:28That's not a.
00:25:29Denard?
00:25:30Is that his name?
00:25:31The guy who just got cut?
00:25:32Dennis Daly.
00:25:33Dennis Daly.
00:25:34Who?
00:25:35Somebody asked about him.
00:25:36Gave up the most sacks in football two years ago and then took inside the guard last year.
00:25:41So.
00:25:42So do you want the numbers real quick while we're on this?
00:25:44Sure.
00:25:45So last year he only played 140 laps as a backup guard.
00:25:48He just, he got moved inside.
00:25:50Last full season of tackle, 2022 in Tennessee, 15 starts.
00:25:5452 pressures, 12 sacks, 7 penalties, 900 snaps.
00:25:59Yeah, that's not a great voice.
00:26:01I'll pass.
00:26:02I'm good on that.
00:26:04No, this really is exactly what happened with Andre Dillard, where everyone was like, oh
00:26:09my God, the Titans got him, the Patriots are so stupid and he literally allowed like way
00:26:13more sacks than anyone else and they were all terrible.
00:26:16So this is, I think, what I'm worried about on the offensive line, more so than like the
00:26:21first five out there, is that the depth still isn't there.
00:26:25And like, yeah, they hit rock bottom last Tuesday in that practice and everybody kind
00:26:29of agreed and they've sort of slowly climbed back up.
00:26:32They had the good showing on Thursday night, quarterbacks only got sacked one time.
00:26:37And you know, it's kind of, it's turning into, well, did everybody overreact Tuesday?
00:26:41But at the end of the day, like Nick Leverett still is not out of practice right now.
00:26:45It's now August 19th.
00:26:48Brian, you mentioned Calvin Anderson is not out there.
00:26:50Like they, they don't have the depth that they also didn't have last year.
00:26:54And I think the reason they were so bad along the offensive line last year was that they
00:26:57had injuries every single week.
00:26:59They had to rotate guys in and out, Cole Strangers in, Cole Strangers out, on one who went on
00:27:03one who out.
00:27:04And that's why they performed so poorly last year.
00:27:07And it's looking like they're going down that same road right now.
00:27:10So I mean, and also whatever offensive line combination they decide on, they need to,
00:27:18they need to get it together sooner rather than later and stick to it.
00:27:20And I know that Mayo said before camp started that they want to get it done.
00:27:24I think by the end of the second preseason game, this is before the start of the third,
00:27:28he said, kind of switched today.
00:27:30He said, we'll figure it out after this preseason game, pushing that deadline back a little
00:27:36bit now.
00:27:37Exactly.
00:27:38And they're doing a lot of rotating still.
00:27:39You mentioned it where the two rookies are getting in, which I think ultimately is good
00:27:42that they're going to give the rookies a chance, but it's getting close to the regular season
00:27:46where you kind of need to cement this thing down.
00:27:49So as much better as it's looked over the last what's today, Monday on it.
00:27:52So over the last week, it's gotten better.
00:27:55I'm still, I'm still concerned about the product.
00:27:57I will.
00:27:58I will point this out and it's not an apples to apple situation, but remember it was a
00:28:02Jordan Debbie.
00:28:03It's like 65 and 22 player.
00:28:06Yeah.
00:28:07Like this, the Patriots aren't exactly new to going into the season and not really having
00:28:12things figured out.
00:28:13Like Belichick was notorious for basically using September to mess with new rotations
00:28:17and see what works.
00:28:19I think a good thing is like depth.
00:28:20Yes.
00:28:21They don't have great depth, but Mike, we've talked about this.
00:28:23I feel like every day in the car, the reality in the NFL is no one has good dab.
00:28:27Right.
00:28:28They just played the Eagles and Keon White had a sack that was so easy.
00:28:31He didn't even want to take credit for it.
00:28:33He was like, yeah, I didn't really have to do much.
00:28:35Like there's not a lot of teams that have a third tackle that they would ever want to
00:28:38put out there.
00:28:39So, you know, there's a certain level of this.
00:28:41And like last year, people don't really talk about the injury situation.
00:28:44It's just like, Oh, bill was so bad putting the offensive line together.
00:28:48I mean, he could have done better for sure, but guys kept getting hurt.
00:28:50It wasn't like, Oh, if they went and got Orlando Brown or whatever, they would have been better.
00:28:54What if he got hurt?
00:28:55They didn't have anybody.
00:28:56You know what I'm saying?
00:28:57So I think that people need to just kind of understand the unfortunate reality is that
00:29:02if you want, if you're starting offensive lineman is hurt, it's pretty, really bad.
00:29:06I think it's just so hard for these guys to get continuity or to stay healthy with the
00:29:10nature of their position.
00:29:11So just want to throw that out there.
00:29:13But if they're still experimenting into the season, Mayo setting a deadline is going to
00:29:17make it look worse for sure.
00:29:18And he invited that, and that's maybe going to be another learning experience, but like
00:29:22they have talent at the top.
00:29:24I don't think there's severely lacking, like the interior is good.
00:29:27You got young guys that can play.
00:29:28They just need to figure out who is best, where to maximize that talent.
00:29:32Yeah.
00:29:33I'll say I wouldn't be surprised if bill used to do this.
00:29:35Like this is how we found out about Michael and when he, the first couple of games a year,
00:29:39there's one or two guys that they rotate on the offensive line.
00:29:41The difference is you don't necessarily have the Martin Frerich used to.
00:29:45They may not care if this is a bridge here, that's the reality of it, but it goes back
00:29:49to something we were talking about before.
00:29:50If you're going to be rotating the offensive line, I'd rather be rotating it in front of
00:29:54Jacoby Bursette than in front of Drake may let Bursette take the hits.
00:29:57It's one last thing may has to deal with, and I'll end with this here on the offensive
00:30:01line.
00:30:02Taylor, start doing your homework.
00:30:03When the college show comes back, we'll Campbell Calvin banks.
00:30:06You're only solving this thing longterm through the draft.
00:30:09That's the reality of it.
00:30:10And they're just going to have to figure out a way, like you said, Taylor, to get through
00:30:13this year.
00:30:14I noticed we'll Campbell a lot actually watching Jaden Daniels.
00:30:17I remember I was like, this guy's stance.
00:30:19He looks like he's stiff because he kind of like stands.
00:30:21He's like, it's very linear and it looks a little odd.
00:30:24And I remember just being like, he never gets beat.
00:30:26This is crazy.
00:30:27So I'm familiar with his game vaguely, but up, Hey man, if they get a left tackle and
00:30:32you don't have to worry about it for the next four or five years, I'm not going to do not
00:30:36care.
00:30:37Like at this point, I'll take the tackle over the receiver because I'm so sick of having
00:30:40this freaking conversation.
00:30:41Correct.
00:30:42I'm with you.
00:30:43And I think that's going to, we're going to have to unite on that throughout the year
00:30:46because Luther burden, Ted McMillan, even James Pierce, who's an edge rusher.
00:30:51They're going to tempt a lot of people.
00:30:52Those are sexy, big time.
00:30:54Those are guys that make highlight plays.
00:30:58Don't lose focus on the big picture.
00:31:01Tackle tackle, tackle the long torso.
00:31:05That's a lot.
00:31:06Uh, one more thing.
00:31:07He's built weird.
00:31:08Yeah.
00:31:09Right.
00:31:11I'm going to say any other offensive line hammering this point home that Charles Turner
00:31:15should get more looks at center.
00:31:17And someone finally asked Gerard Mayo today, and he said, we feel better with the group
00:31:22that we have, which not great.
00:31:24If you're Charles Turner, I would say, because the group you have can't snap the ball.
00:31:29So I don't think we're going to get those Charles Turner looks at center.
00:31:32Start doing the dead ball snap.
00:31:33Like the chiefs are doing now.
00:31:35Yeah.
00:31:36That's the way to go.
00:31:37Love that.
00:31:38That's a former quarterback tweet right there.
00:31:40Because then there's no spin on the football and you don't have to find the laces as hard.
00:31:44It just comes out.
00:31:45You're nice and soft.
00:31:46You catch it, find the laces and go.
00:31:47I love it.
00:31:48I don't think we had a fumble on there like 10 dropbacks today though.
00:31:51So there's no, no, all the snaps were good today.
00:31:53We'll see how much longer that lasts, but all the snaps are good today.
00:31:55All right.
00:31:56Mike's going to tell you about our friends at prize picks and then we got some other

00:33:14By the way, if you guys are upset with Mike for his Mike, you're not the only people upset
00:33:17with Mike.
00:33:18He dropped a field goal today.
00:33:19We were standing behind the goal post moment and he'd been waiting all camp and now there's
00:33:23no fans and he dropped it.
00:33:24And we legitimately heard players on the field booing them like multipliers on the field
00:33:28booing them.
00:33:29So that happened.
00:33:30We'll get to the kickers though.
00:33:31I want to talk about the wide receivers and I want to start with one specific wide receiver
00:33:34Taylor.
00:33:35I know you have some takes on the rookies, but I want to talk about Taequann Thornton.
00:33:38Taequann Thornton had a good start to camp, got hurt.
00:33:43We weren't sure.
00:33:44We were like, is this where it falls off the rails?
00:33:45And look, I don't think he's necessarily done a ton since he came back from that injury,
00:33:53but they are repping him like a player they plan to have on the roster.
00:33:56They are not even repping him like a bubble player.
00:33:58They are repping him like a guy that they have plans for.
00:34:02Makes me nervous.
00:34:03Not necessarily because I think he's bad, but I just, you can't count on having them
00:34:07even if you keep him on the team with his injury history, but he's going to be here.
00:34:13He's going to be a part of this.
00:34:14I they've made that clear and I don't know why I just like, it's so it stood out to me
00:34:19so aggressively today, but you know, they give them the veteran treatment in the preseason
00:34:24game.
00:34:25Yep.
00:34:26So exclusively with the ones today, he's going to be here.
00:34:29He's going to be here.
00:34:30Mike.
00:34:31I was just going to mention my, you stole my point there with the preseason games where
00:34:36he has been with the ones in the preseason, both games, he, he hasn't had many targets.
00:34:42I think he only had one or maybe two targets throughout the two games, but he's out there.
00:34:47He gets his run and then he leaves and he sits down because he's not in a competition.
00:34:51And when we outlined this room throughout the, you know, throughout camp, we talked
00:34:55about how there's, uh, uh, DeMario Douglas, Keisha, Keisha, excuse me, DeMario Douglas,
00:35:01Jalen Polk and Jayvon Baker as sort of the locks and how everybody else behind them is
00:35:05in competition.
00:35:07And now I think you can put Taekwon right in there with the locks.
00:35:09He was, he was the first guy they went to today on the two minute drill.
00:35:12He beats Christian Gonzalez on a go route, uh, and hauls it in.
00:35:16And so I think that the issue here is the, is the injuries that you mentioned Alex, where
00:35:22if he's on the field, he's going to at least get open.
00:35:26And now he has to actually come down with the ball.
00:35:27Cause there was a couple, you know, there was a couple of drops in his past over the
00:35:30last couple of seasons here, but I think you're right.
00:35:33I don't, I don't see a situation barring injury that he doesn't make the team.
00:35:37And you know, Taylor, I think we both did it after, after preseason game number one,
00:35:42where he had been hurt during camp and he ended up going out there and playing.
00:35:46Um, but we were both like, he's probably going to start on IR just like he has the last couple
00:35:49of seasons.
00:35:50But you know, he, he hasn't.
00:35:52He, uh, he's been out there ever since then.
00:35:54He hasn't missed a practice yet.
00:35:55And I think he looks pretty good for, for what, from what we've seen so far.
00:35:59Taylor, you got any hope for Taekwon Thornton this year?
00:36:01Yes.
00:36:02Well, for him to stay on the field, I'm keeping my expectations tempered, but I'm just very
00:36:07happy for him.
00:36:08Honestly, he's missed minimal time and he's, you know, gone strong at this point, which
00:36:12is awesome.
00:36:13I also think when it comes to his standing on the roster, it's very important to understand
00:36:16the context of that X receiver spot.
00:36:19For some reason, this team will not put Jalen Polk at X.
00:36:22I thought that maybe the best rotation might be Polk at X with Osborne at Z and then pop
00:36:27in the slot.
00:36:28But I also understand Polk's skillset isn't really a true X.
00:36:30Like I do get it, but I don't think Taekwon's is either, which is odd.
00:36:33What about Baker?
00:36:34Baker's not, they can't rely on him right now.
00:36:38That's fair.
00:36:39Okay.
00:36:40That's fair.
00:36:41Like he's so raw right now.
00:36:42I was hoping he'd be the X, but you're right.
00:36:43He hasn't played it that well.
00:36:44I was hoping the same thing, dude.
00:36:45I had all, I wrote like 2,800 words on why he was going to be the receiver by the end
00:36:49of the season.
00:36:50And then you got Jalen Rager, who we all know he's there to be a special teamer.
00:36:54He can be an X when you need him to, but outside of, it's kind of like Taekwon where it's like
00:36:57maybe a slant here and there, you know, a goal ball and they take the top off, but that's
00:37:01really what you expect.
00:37:03You'd like a more well-rounded X, but like Mac Jones made it this entire rookie season
00:37:06with Nelson Aguilera, literally only running those in hitches.
00:37:10If you think I'm exaggerating, I'm not.
00:37:12I think he had like two or three other targets on any route that wasn't that.
00:37:15It was crazy.
00:37:16He was running wind sprints.
00:37:17Yeah.
00:37:18It was like, that's what Taekwon is going to do because in practice, it's not like he's
00:37:21this high volume target.
00:37:22It's why everything he does feels magnified.
00:37:25Like I still remember the drop where the pass was kind of behind him and Darius Slate broke
00:37:28it up and it stuck with me because it was one of the only times he'd really made a mistake,
00:37:32but he also hadn't done a much like really good either.
00:37:35So yeah, I think he's a lot to make the roster because clearly they like his talent.
00:37:39Just don't know if that's the best case scenario right now.
00:37:41I mean, I guess for them it is, but I don't know if it's ideal because he feels kind of
00:37:45one dimensional.
00:37:46Brian.
00:37:47Yeah.
00:37:48I mean, if you want someone to just run go balls, like Taekwon's got the best skillset
00:37:52out of anyone on this roster to probably do that, right.
00:37:55With that four, two speed to really stress the defense vertically like that.
00:37:59And we saw it in the first preseason game.
00:38:01He, maybe his best route as a Patriot and, you know, Jacoby kind of underthrows them.
00:38:06And then today they finally connect in practice and Jacoby even like, I thought I overthrew
00:38:10him and you know, that's, it's hard to overthrow a guy like Taekwon Thornton, right.
00:38:15That's one of the things with that four, two speed.
00:38:17So I think there is a role kind of forum, but now it's the big thing.
00:38:21Can he stay healthy?
00:38:22Once he finally starts, you know, taking some real hits in NFL game after a lot of conversation
00:38:28out of Washington.
00:38:29We'll address this.
00:38:30Cause I don't think we've all talked about it together.
00:38:31Johan Dotson might be on the, uh, uh, outside looking in there.
00:38:36So we know under bill, they'd make that move 10 times out of 10.
00:38:39It was Corey Coleman.
00:38:40It was the Quan Treadwell is Jalen Rager.
00:38:43You could argue that they keep getting closer, right?
00:38:46Corey Coleman was here for like two weeks.
00:38:47He sucked Treadwell actually played in a few games.
00:38:51He didn't really do anything, but he got into games, Rager serviceable player.
00:38:56So now maybe you get like a starting level player in Treadwell.
00:39:00And then the next one, or sorry, you get a starting level level player in, um, in Dotson.
00:39:06And then it's the next one that you actually hit on the star when they signed Quentin
00:39:09Johnson in two years, he comes here and breaks out.
00:39:12But I don't know, like I'm not against it.
00:39:15I think he's, you talk about a guy that can be an X, I think can be an X if they need.
00:39:22No, you don't think so.
00:39:23Taylor.
00:39:24No, it's been a while since I've really watched a ton of them.
00:39:26I just pulled up his college, but I pulled up his snaps last year.
00:39:30He was five 50 out wide three 50 in the slot.
00:39:33So he was out wide mostly, but it's more like a Z type wide out the numbers.
00:39:39That's I wish PFF had better distinctions of like what wide because wide is rarely in
00:39:44our house in the numbers.
00:39:46He's all hasn't been like he hasn't been a bust yet either that for that group of guys
00:39:51who talked about like, pretty much busted in the NFL where Dotson just like, what's
00:39:57this is his third season.
00:39:59He was good as first year, I'm pretty sure I think he might have got hurt at some point.
00:40:02And then last year just kind of fell out of.
00:40:05I don't even know if he fell out of the road.
00:40:10I will lose me your back.
00:40:16You're back.
00:40:17Okay.
00:40:18Percept played with Dotson last year.
00:40:19That might help that cause a little bit.
00:40:21That's a good point.
00:40:22That's a good point.
00:40:23Oh, I was, I'm thinking of Josh.
00:40:24When I said X, I was thinking of Josh Doctson.
00:40:26If you remember him.
00:40:27Oh yeah.
00:40:28Yeah, it's totally fair.
00:40:29It was also a Washington.
00:40:30Right.
00:40:31He was also in Washington.
00:40:32I think he was either a first round pick or a high C. Yeah.
00:40:35First round pick.
00:40:36He was more of a true X.
00:40:37Um, Dotson, uh, but yeah, Dotson, I don't know.
00:40:41Like I, I feel like he, they need to take as many shots as this at this as they can.
00:40:48And he's a guy, I, people ask me why he struggles and look, I haven't watched Washington regularly
00:40:52enough.
00:40:53Maybe one of you feels like you can give a better answer.
00:40:55I'll tell you this.
00:40:56So he certainly has been helped by his quarterback life.
00:40:58You talk about some of those other guys, Jalen Rager was playing with good quarterbacks.
00:41:03The Quan Treadwell had decent quarterback.
00:41:06I don't remember who Corey Coleman was just bad.
00:41:08Well, actually he was drafted by the Browns, right?
00:41:09So he didn't have a good quarterback.
00:41:10I don't even remember who his quarterback was, but I feel comfortable saying that if
00:41:13he was drafted by the Browns, um, Dotson, yeah, Coleman.
00:41:17Yeah.
00:41:18He's drafted by the Browns.
00:41:19Then it was the bad Josh Allen bills for like a preseason.
00:41:22And then he got here.
00:41:23Yeah.
00:41:24I remember that.
00:41:25Yeah.
00:41:26Um, I do wonder a little bit too much.
00:41:27I've paid a little bit too much attention to Johan Dotson since he got here because
00:41:31I drafted him in my dynasty league.
00:41:33Oh, he's a guy who I'm like, oh, okay.
00:41:36So I'm looking at his game log now and he started his rookie season hot, got hurt, was
00:41:41decent towards the end.
00:41:42And then again, like I was saying before last year, didn't have much help at all at the
00:41:45quarterback position.
00:41:46So it's only year three.
00:41:48He's only 24.
00:41:49Does he return kicks?
00:41:51Because I was going to like bring this up and low sprints it up.
00:41:54Like who does he push out?
00:41:55Like, is it Dotson or Keisha on booty?
00:41:57Or if he returns kicks, does he push out Jalen Rager?
00:42:01I don't think he returns.
00:42:02I mean, you might be able to do it, but probably.
00:42:05I would think, right.
00:42:07And I, and I don't think that would be smart because they play different roles.
00:42:10Like booty can actually play outside and give you something there.
00:42:13Potentially Dotson, I think is more of the kind of guy you want in the slot or like in
00:42:16a bunch, like kind of like pop.
00:42:19Any thoughts on the rookie receivers from the last week?
00:42:24Still nothing from Javon Baker.
00:42:27It's been really disappointing.
00:42:29And then Jalen Polk also quiet, but he's been repping with the ones pretty significantly.
00:42:34So it feels like they want him to get very comfortable there.
00:42:38Yeah.
00:42:39I'm just happy.
00:42:40Yeah.
00:42:41Just happy.
00:42:42They're playing Polk more.
00:42:43That's big thing with them.
00:42:45All right.
00:42:46They don't have as much confidence.
00:42:47I don't want to say that, but Baker has fallen off and Taylor, you pointed it out today where
00:42:52he was repping with the threes at one point.
00:42:53It's not like he's not going to make the roster or anything, but it's clear that Polk's with
00:42:57the ones, Baker's with the threes.
00:42:59They're at different levels and where, how soon they're going to play in their written
00:43:02season.
00:43:03Yeah.
00:43:04All right.
00:43:05Tight ends.
00:43:06Austin Hooper is back today, but he's limited.
00:43:07Hunter Henry's still out.
00:43:08Mitchell Wilcox is still out.
00:43:09Felt like a great chance for Jaheim Bell or even the Michael Pettway to grab a spot.
00:43:14Make some noise.
00:43:15I know Bell had a good day yesterday.
00:43:18Didn't feel like he followed up today.
00:43:20Had one catch.
00:43:21I'll sort of drop not much from, from, uh, uh, Michael Pettway.
00:43:26I still think they're looking for a tight end week from a week from tomorrow.
00:43:30I still think they're going to be looking on the waiver wire for a tight end.
00:43:33Uh, Taylor.
00:43:34Yeah.
00:43:35A hundred percent.
00:43:36Jaheim Bell.
00:43:37I just don't think he's ready to play.
00:43:38I think maybe it's Foxborough flu or something cause he's not, I don't think he's going to
00:43:41survive the practice squad.
00:43:42He's too athletic.
00:43:43I think teams with roster spots would take him on as a project.
00:43:46Um, but yeah, he shouldn't be on a field in live action.
00:43:50Yeah.
00:43:51Well, Michael Pettway not really shown you much, but Wilcox wasn't there, but I still
00:43:53don't even think he has a good chance to make team.
00:43:56It's the same situation that we walked into when all these guys went down.
00:44:00Brian, are we just worried about Hunter Henry here?
00:44:05Cause like I know Mayo said earlier, it wasn't long-term.
00:44:10And then he said today he thinks he'll be here for week one after saying on the radio
00:44:14this morning that the tight ends will be ready to go relatively early in the season.
00:44:20And then Austin Hooper was out there today.
00:44:22Mitchell Wilcox wasn't there, but he was like working out on the lower field.
00:44:26So the only other tight end is Hunter Henry.
00:44:28And if he's relatively early in the season, maybe be there week one, like that's kind
00:44:34of worrisome because you would hope Hunter Henry is out there.
00:44:37So yeah, they're, they're going to need a tight end.
00:44:40I don't know how Peyton Hendershot's doing this preseason, if you're up to date on his
00:44:43stats part, but uh, yeah, that's tight end room has taken a hit.
00:44:47Maybe they make Chooks a full-time tight end.
00:44:49He played as an extra tight end for the Seahawks.
00:44:52There we go.
00:44:53I'll just, I'll just say at least Austin Hooper was out there in pads today.
00:44:57Now he didn't participate, but that's a good sign that they at least have them out there
00:45:01stretching.
00:45:02It looks like he's, you know, on the mend a little bit, um, from his injury.
00:45:05But Barth, you, you had mentioned that you were kind of behind the eight ball on Taekwon
00:45:09Thornton.
00:45:10This, you know, you had them out of your last roster.
00:45:12You were way ahead of the tight end thing.
00:45:14You know, in your first projection, I think you had them signing a guy off the street
00:45:18and it looks more and more like that's going to be the case now because you're right.
00:45:22They, they need help in that room.
00:45:24Not just because of injury, but because of the third tight end position being so weak.
00:45:27All right.
00:45:28So I have, I just pulled up a list here.
00:45:31This is from granted.
00:45:33This is from before camp.
00:45:34Oh, nope.
00:45:35That's from before camp started last year.
00:45:36We're not going to use that one.
00:45:38I'm trying to find like, you know, they have those lists of like around the league guys
00:45:42who get cut.
00:45:43Um, all right, here's one from before camp started.
00:45:47Let's see what tight ends are on here.
00:45:48Anybody tell me if you're interested in any of these guys.
00:45:51We've got, we've got, this is bad radio and I, there might not even be any tight ends
00:45:57on here.
00:45:58There's Bailey's happy.
00:45:59Someone's Isaiah likely in the chat who I love, but I don't know why I would take Isaiah
00:46:04likely.
00:46:05Yeah.
00:46:06I don't know why they'd get rid of Isaiah.
00:46:07Likely.
00:46:08I don't think they are.
00:46:09Mark Andrews.
00:46:10He's awesome.
00:46:11I love Isaiah.
00:46:12Yeah.
00:46:13I've seen some people say, say, um, the chiefs have, uh, have too many tight ends and not
00:46:21the chief.
00:46:22Sorry.
00:46:23The Colts have too many tight ends.
00:46:24They're going to have to cut somebody.
00:46:25Um, they have a ton of, of pass catchers, but they, yeah.
00:46:30Oh wow.
00:46:31They won two, three, four, five, six, they have seven tight ends.
00:46:34I said tight ends.
00:46:37You weren't kidding.
00:46:38I didn't know what seven.
00:46:39So they have, I mean, they're probably not going to cut Mo Alley Cox, right?
00:46:43No.
00:46:44I wouldn't.
00:46:45I would.
00:46:46Eric.
00:46:47I can't go on.
00:46:48He would.
00:46:49Eric.
00:46:50Well, Mallory treats legend.
00:46:51The Miami kid.
00:46:52Right?
00:46:53Yeah.
00:46:54Yeah.
00:46:55Miami.
00:46:56I think we got like 15 times that year.
00:46:57Alex on Pat's feet.
00:46:59What's up?
00:47:00I think we drafted.
00:47:01We'll narrowly.
00:47:02We'll Mallory.
00:47:03No, no.
00:47:04You're thinking of Zach Coons.
00:47:05Oh, that's right too.
00:47:06Yeah.
00:47:07Okay.
00:47:08Who I, some people have said he might be the odd man out in New York, but Colts definitely
00:47:10a team to watch when it comes to tight ends.
00:47:12Did Philly have any other thoughts on the off?
00:47:16Not really.
00:47:17They had a lot of tight ends, but those guys were like, well, we have like Jelani Jenkins.
00:47:21Wasn't he good for somebody?
00:47:24He got hurt in that game.
00:47:25I think pretty bad.
00:47:26Right?
00:47:27Oh, did he?
00:47:28They have CJ Osama listed as their fourth Albert, Albert O down the depth chart.
00:47:35I would take Alberto.
00:47:37Yeah.
00:47:38Yeah.
00:47:39Let's see.
00:47:40That's a go to Jenkins.
00:47:42Oh, I think EJ Jenkins got hurt.
00:47:44Oh yeah.
00:47:45Talking about.
00:47:46Yeah.
00:47:47Also, I think Ogletree for Pat stats.
00:47:51I think Ogletree is their third tight end with the Colts.
00:47:54They're keeping their three tight end.
00:47:55Yeah.
00:47:56Yeah.
00:47:57They're going to keep those guys.
00:47:58All right.
00:47:59Let's are.
00:48:00We have no more breaks left.
00:48:01Defense.
00:48:02Let's talk about the defense.
00:48:03Christian Gonzalez got beat by Taekwon Thornton today.
00:48:08Kind of another example of him getting beat.
00:48:10Anybody nervous about Christian Gonzalez?
00:48:12I'm not sounding the alarm yet.
00:48:13We're fine.
00:48:14Get him in the game.
00:48:15I think he's a gamer.
00:48:16I don't, it's almost like I don't even want to talk about it until it happens in the game.
00:48:21And there, there's not a ton of tape on him to say that it's a fact that he's going to
00:48:28be locked down.
00:48:29But I think we saw enough last year to at least give him a chance to say, Hey, look,
00:48:32let me get into the, you know, game action and, and you know, really put this thing off.
00:48:36I think it's fine.
00:48:38Anybody else worried?
00:48:39Nope.
00:48:40Nope.
00:48:41I'm not going to be the one that goes on record as being like, Oh, gonzo bad summer.
00:48:45You'd be worried.
00:48:46Like I'm not going to be like, all right, how about up front?
00:48:49Anybody worried about pass rush?
00:48:50Josh Uche hasn't practiced since he played deep into that game against the Eagles.
00:48:55Not that their pass rush was helped by losing Matthew Jude on.
00:48:59It wasn't.
00:49:00It definitely hurt it.
00:49:01But you lose Josh Uche too.
00:49:03Now look, I think Dietrich Weiss is a good player.
00:49:05I think Keon White's a good player, but those are power rushers.
00:49:09Those are guys that have one skillset and they're very good at it, but you don't necessarily
00:49:13have that pin rears back and go kind of athletic when multiple ways, Russia, we all hope Keon
00:49:20White becomes that guy, but he's probably a year or two away from that.
00:49:24Even still with a positive summer, uh, anybody have any theories on what's going on with
00:49:29Josh Uche?
00:49:30I know maybe he's just hurt, but we didn't see him get hurt.
00:49:33Taylor, you're the sleuth.
00:49:34You found O'Shane's and menace's injury last night.
00:49:37So maybe you go take another look for Josh Uche, but he plays really late into that game.
00:49:44Mail says it's not about the scrum he got in, in practice and we haven't seen him since.
00:49:49So he also went on the radio today for what that's worth.
00:49:54Do you say anything?
00:49:55I'm trying to remember.
00:49:56He didn't say anything.
00:49:57I didn't listen to the interview, but he was thrown into the mix on, on Patriots Monday,
00:50:01um, over at the, not be named.
00:50:04So I mean, he's in the building, they're putting him out there as, you know, they do their,
00:50:09their head coach, the quarterback, and they do like, I guess, 10 pole players, if you
00:50:13will, to go on the radio every week with the EI and he wasn't there.
00:50:17So I mean, he was there, excuse me, they, they put them out there.
00:50:20So it might just be an injury.
00:50:22So Uche's last play was the fourth and one stop where they fumbled and nothing happened.
00:50:27The push, push, uh, yeah.
00:50:30Like literally he finished the play like this, so I don't know.
00:50:34Maybe he hurt his finger.
00:50:35Maybe he was showing a trainer.
00:50:36Well, he was limited like earlier in the summer, but then if he's going through something like,
00:50:42why is he playing into the third?
00:50:44Right.
00:50:45Exactly.
00:50:46It's just weird.
00:50:47So if it wasn't for that game, I'd just say, oh, he's hurt.
00:50:49Yeah.
00:50:50But it feels like if he's on the bubble, then they're going to hold them.
00:50:54He's too cheap to be on the bubble.
00:50:56He can't be on the bubble.
00:50:57Yeah.
00:50:59They have to keep a certain number of edge rushers at a certain point, you're not going
00:51:02to have guys left.
00:51:03Right.
00:51:04Wait, he was at practice today as a, as a spectator, uh, in steel from ABC six has a
00:51:15picture of him.
00:51:16He was a late arrival in shorts and he had a, it looks like he has a like ankle brace
00:51:23on his left ankle.
00:51:24You can see him.
00:51:25Maybe he did get hurt.
00:51:26Okay.
00:51:27So that was from today.
00:51:28So I guess good, good, good for us for figuring that out.
00:51:33That's not a guy.
00:51:34We just did this with Hunter Henry, right?
00:51:36He may not be able to start the season.
00:51:37We're talking about if Hunter Henry is not ready, you're talking about that need to add
00:51:40a third tight end.
00:51:41If Hunter Henry is not ready to start season, they absolutely need to add a tight end.
00:51:45Absolutely.
00:51:46They might need to add a pass rusher.
00:51:47If Josh Huch is not ready to start the season, and the men is who is banged up too, right?
00:51:54Don't have enough pass rushers.
00:51:56Well, one of my points after, after the preseason game was one of my like five thoughts after
00:52:03the game on media.com was that they didn't skip a beat when they lost Matthew Jude on
00:52:09because they had like eight sacks and, and who was in there and, uh, and Ximena is obviously
00:52:14in wise and, and Keon white, but now if they're all going to get hurt, then we're right back
00:52:17to the drawing board and you know, if Ximena has been awesome, but you know, if he's not
00:52:22healthy, then it's, it's going to be interesting.
00:52:27Any, any hope there, Taylor, maybe something they can scheme up something like that, or
00:52:31are they just going to get, they've already said that they're going to rely more on line
00:52:35games.
00:52:36It's going to be more like the dynasty era fronts where they didn't have that main like
00:52:39tree flowers.
00:52:40I, I think it's kind of understated how good their alignment were one-on-one like tree
00:52:44flowers obviously dominant, but a lot of their success was like Kyle Van Nooyen, Dante Hightower
00:52:49and Jamie Collins on blitzes and stunts and things like that.
00:52:52So that's probably your best case scenario.
00:52:54Luckily edge is a deeper position than tackle.
00:52:57So like some guys are probably going to shake loose when cutdowns happen.
00:53:01So you may be able to pick some guys up if you really need them, but still like they're
00:53:04going to be coming into the system where, you know, you still got to get them along.
00:53:07You have no idea how, especially the chemistry on those line games, because frankly against
00:53:11the Eagles, I didn't think the chemistry looked very good.
00:53:14I don't think it looked very good last year when they tried their line games.
00:53:17That's why far more being good was huge because they couldn't even manufacture pressure outside
00:53:20of blitzes.
00:53:22Also blitzes, I guess they could do that as well, like simulated pressures and things
00:53:25like that.
00:53:26But it's going to be tough.
00:53:27Like, you know, football is a game of attrition.
00:53:28A lot of the times, like, not that this is a good team necessarily, but like good team
00:53:32sometimes have bad years because they just have rotten injury look and, you know, we'll
00:53:36see what happens long term, but they're definitely not getting really fortunate this summer.
00:53:41Any other thoughts on the defense?
00:53:45Still Marco Wilson, top corner, opposite Gonzalez and then more Marcus Jones today
00:53:51in the slot.
00:53:52I think he said he was 100% too.
00:53:53Different top slot every game this week.
00:53:57Yeah.
00:53:58So, but Marco Wilson has been consistent opposite Christian Gonzalez.
00:54:01So that's been interesting.
00:54:02But yeah, the slot keeps kind of rotating in and out there with the Joneses back.
00:54:07Marcellus dialed the odd man out at corner.
00:54:10Kind of looks like it.
00:54:11All right.
00:54:12Yeah.
00:54:13Yeah.
00:54:14Yeah.
00:54:15Yeah.
00:54:16Yeah.
00:54:17Yeah.
00:54:18Yeah.
00:54:19Yeah.
00:54:20Yeah.
00:54:21Yeah.
00:54:22Yeah.
00:54:23Yeah.
00:54:24Yeah.
00:54:25Yeah.
00:54:26Yeah.
00:54:27Yeah.
00:54:28Yeah.
00:54:29Yeah.
00:54:30Yeah.
00:54:31Yeah.
00:54:32Yeah.
00:54:33Yeah.
00:54:34Yeah.
00:54:35Yeah.
00:54:36Yeah.
00:54:37Yeah.
00:54:38Yeah.
00:54:39Yeah.
00:54:40Yeah.
00:54:41Yeah.
00:54:42Nope.
00:54:43Nope.
00:54:44Nope.
00:54:45Nope.
00:54:46Nope.
00:54:47Nope.
00:54:48Nope.
00:54:49Nope.
00:54:50Nope.
00:54:51Nope.
00:54:52Nope.
00:54:53Find.
00:54:54File that call six where paying Patriots.
00:54:55SPEE takes over.
00:54:565 field goals.
00:54:57Today for Joey sly for, for really Mike was the highlight of the specialty.
00:54:58Literally moved by half the roster during the field.
00:54:59Well, that's why I wanted to leave.
00:55:00He doesn't want us to talk about Jolly side.
00:55:01His first 50 plus myths.
00:55:02Of 52 yards.
00:55:03He missed for the first time in over a week.
00:55:04He went three of five, Chad Rolland went four or five I'm not sued just yet.
00:55:09I still think Joey Sly's been the hot hand.
00:55:11I still think that's the guy you go with
00:55:13and you keep Chad Ryland on the practice squad
00:55:16in case things trend the wrong way,
00:55:17but I don't know, is door opening up, Brian?
00:55:20Maybe a little.
00:55:21I would still go with Sly, but I thought today,
00:55:25you just said it, me and Taylor talked about it yesterday.
00:55:28Like today, I think kind of reinforced the idea
00:55:30that maybe you should try to keep both of these guys around
00:55:33if you can, and one of them on the practice squad,
00:55:35which would probably be Ryland.
00:55:37Probably won't have a market elsewhere,
00:55:39so if he wants to come back,
00:55:40you can get him to the practice squad,
00:55:41but like Sly's been very good this summer,
00:55:44but career, he's like 81, 82%.
00:55:47You could get him to the regular season
00:55:49and it could just kind of fall apart,
00:55:50so if you still have Ryland on the practice squad,
00:55:52I think that would be the best way to go about this,
00:55:55but yeah, I would still say,
00:55:56even with the two misses today, first one from 50 plus,
00:56:00I would say Sly's still the guy there in that competition.
00:56:03Mike, Taylor?
00:56:06I really just framed it as the kicker competition
00:56:08got interesting,
00:56:09because it got super boring over the past couple of weeks.
00:56:11It was like, all right, yeah, it's Joey Sly's job.
00:56:14Let's move on, you know, but still, one bad day.
00:56:17It was two misses.
00:56:19If it was one miss, I'd probably be like, yeah, whatever.
00:56:21Two is, you know, all right, that's not nothing,
00:56:23but I still think it's Sly's job to lose for it.
00:56:26Well, let me ask you this,
00:56:27because again, Ryland had a miss today too,
00:56:28and it was a shorter miss.
00:56:30What we've kind of seen is,
00:56:32because the makes and misses
00:56:34are actually comparable overall,
00:56:36but Joey, yeah, Joey Sly's been better from distance,
00:56:42you know, saved the miss today.
00:56:42He's been better from distance,
00:56:44but he hasn't been as inconsistent in that 30 to 40 range,
00:56:47whereas Chad Ryland's actually been
00:56:50pretty consistent in that range,
00:56:51but it's when he gets to like 45 plus
00:56:53that he starts to falter.
00:56:55Should they be more interested in the guy
00:56:58that's more automatic short, but limits your range,
00:57:02or the guy that gives you more range,
00:57:04but isn't gonna be as consistent
00:57:05with the kicks you'd want to be automatic.
00:57:07Basically, the way the offense looks,
00:57:10should they want to expand the field goal range,
00:57:13or do they want to be more sure
00:57:14that when they manage to get in a field goal range,
00:57:17they're coming away with three points?
00:57:18What should be the primary focus?
00:57:21I still, long story short, I think it's Sly,
00:57:25and I think you extend the field goal range,
00:57:26because even though Ryland was consistent short,
00:57:29has been consistent short in camp,
00:57:31he wasn't very consistent short last year.
00:57:34Yeah, things change, and he's looked good so far,
00:57:37but at this point, I still think it's Sly's job to lose,
00:57:41and I think the idea of getting Chad on the practice squad
00:57:44makes the most sense, just like Brian said.
00:57:46I don't think he's gonna be claimed by anyone,
00:57:48and I don't think he would rather sign elsewhere.
00:57:52I think he's comfortable, as he is in New England,
00:57:55to be on their practice squad,
00:57:57but as far as the consistency goes,
00:58:00as far as being in or out,
00:58:01I still think they should go with Sly
00:58:03and extend that range.
00:58:05Taylor?
00:58:08Just for the fun of the question,
00:58:09I would rather go with consistency than the big leg,
00:58:12but also, Joey Sly's proven he can be an NFL kicker.
00:58:15Chad Ryland has not.
00:58:16I think either way, Joey Sly wins,
00:58:19because he's done it before at this level,
00:58:21so yeah, I still think that Chad would have to be
00:58:25literally lights out from here on out
00:58:28to really have a strong hold of this job.
00:58:32Also, if you want to keep two around
00:58:34and have one of them on the practice squad,
00:58:35you're more likely to get Ryland not be claimed
00:58:39or have to go on any other team than Sly has,
00:58:41because Sly's been around, he's more proven,
00:58:43and another team might pick him.
00:58:45Well, he doesn't have to, he wouldn't get claimed.
00:58:47He would just-
00:58:48Oh, that's right, that's exactly right, okay.
00:58:50I mean, you could work something out.
00:58:52You could work something out with both of them.
00:58:55Like, you don't have to have a kicker on the roster.
00:58:56Remember, they did that earlier?
00:58:57Right, they could both get cut.
00:58:59And then put them both, like, just tell Joey Sly,
00:59:02like, hey, we'll sign you to the practice squad.
00:59:04We're going to elevate you for the first two, three games,
00:59:07and then we'll work something out.
00:59:08And then, you know, Ryland probably doesn't get claimed,
00:59:10but then he could go to the practice squad.
00:59:11So maybe you just have both of these guys
00:59:13on the practice squad.
00:59:14That opens up a spot for you to claim a pass rusher,
00:59:16tight end, tackle, something like that.
00:59:18But you have to know if that's the plan.
00:59:21Like, Joey Sly, if he gets a shot on a 53,
00:59:24he's going to take it.
00:59:25I don't think he's going to agree.
00:59:26Like, yeah, okay, fine.
00:59:28I'll sign with the practice squad.
00:59:29If somebody calls him, and as he should, and good for him,
00:59:33if somebody calls him, which I wouldn't rule out,
00:59:35he's going.
00:59:36Something to consider,
00:59:37Chad Ryland still hasn't kicked a field goal
00:59:40in a preseason game.
00:59:41Could they potentially be trying to hide him?
00:59:43Because no one cares if you're making extra points.
00:59:45No one really, I mean, maybe kickoffs, I guess.
00:59:47Some people will care more than others.
00:59:48But it doesn't seem like a huge coincidence,
00:59:50and this is a competition, that two games in a row,
00:59:52Chad hasn't kicked a single meaningful kick.
00:59:54Except they're alternating kicks,
00:59:57and it's just so happened that every other kick,
01:00:00starting with the second kick, is an extra point.
01:00:02And to that, I would say Joey Sly won the right
01:00:06to go first in camp, based on the practices,
01:00:09and sometimes it's just the luck of the draw.
01:00:11Now, I do wonder if maybe,
01:00:13if they get a field goal early against Washington,
01:00:16if they send Chad Ryland out there,
01:00:18just to get him a field goal,
01:00:20and say to hell with the rotation.
01:00:22But so far, the luck of the draw has been
01:00:24Joey Sly's gotten better opportunities,
01:00:27and he's capitalized on them.
01:00:27Well, Chad let off the final drill today,
01:00:32which was a change.
01:00:33I know Joey Sly got the live one, they've rotated that,
01:00:36but the last, they end with four field goals alternated,
01:00:40and Chad let that off.
01:00:42Yeah, he went first today.
01:00:42Yeah, he did, Chad went first in that.
01:00:44After they gave Sly the one-minute drill,
01:00:47or the two-minute drill.
01:00:47Right, I mean, Sly's looked like the starter.
01:00:49They gave him the walkthrough kick in the game, too.
01:00:52Yeah.
01:00:54But I would still like to see him get a field goal.
01:00:57It's been two pre-seasons now,
01:00:58he hasn't got a field goal attempt in the pre-season,
01:01:01so it's been pretty crazy.
01:01:02But the other thing with that competition,
01:01:05Gerard Mayo just kind of laughed in our faces
01:01:07when someone asked us the kickoff rule,
01:01:09and having the tackle impact the kicker competition,
01:01:12which is something we talked about,
01:01:13because Joey Sly is jacked up,
01:01:16and got involved and actually wanted the kickoffs
01:01:19the other night, but Gerard just kind of laughed at us,
01:01:21and said that plays no factor into this decision.
01:01:24He also said that Jelani Tavae has mentioned
01:01:26that he wants to just kick off,
01:01:27so he can go down there and tackle.
01:01:29Right.
01:01:30Hasn't Tavae told us that, like himself, too?
01:01:32I think so, yeah.
01:01:34We'll see, we'll see.
01:01:35I mean, they have to have an emergency kicker.
01:01:37They gotta have somebody there.
01:01:38I'm still surprised Berenger hasn't done any of it, but.
01:01:41Anyway, that's quick special team slot.
01:01:43All right, anything else?
01:01:44I think that pretty much covers it for the last three days.
01:01:48Yeah, I think so.
01:01:49All right, so let's close it on this.
01:01:51Let me ask you guys this.
01:01:52Three practices left.
01:01:54Do we see Drake May get legitimate,
01:01:56not walkthrough, legitimate full speed,
01:02:00all five starting on the offensive line,
01:02:02starting caliber receivers?
01:02:04Do we see Drake May take starter reps
01:02:06over the final three days of practice?
01:02:09Brian, I'll start with you.
01:02:11I'm still gonna go no.
01:02:13I don't believe it.
01:02:15Taylor.
01:02:16I don't believe it, but if he is like lights,
01:02:19really, really good and lights it up against the commanders,
01:02:21then I think there's a shot.
01:02:23Mike.
01:02:24Well, the practices are before the-
01:02:25Right, yeah, no, yeah, that doesn't, I'm saying,
01:02:28once the game happens.
01:02:30Right.
01:02:31Because we've been doing Thursdays and then after.
01:02:32Once the game happens, they might practice Monday,
01:02:37or they won't practice Monday.
01:02:38They might practice Tuesday.
01:02:39Sometimes they do that, but it'll be closed.
01:02:41We'll take attendance.
01:02:42That'll be it.
01:02:43So next three days are our last chance
01:02:45to see Drake May at the starter.
01:02:46So you're saying no, you don't think we're gonna see it?
01:02:49No, I don't.
01:02:50I'm with you.
01:02:51Like, don't be ashamed.
01:02:52I think you're right.
01:02:53I'm not ashamed, I'm upset.
01:02:54Okay, fair.
01:02:55Like, we should, you're right, we should,
01:02:57but I don't think we see it.
01:02:58Mike.
01:02:58Hey, shout out Reggie P.
01:03:00Shout out Reggie P in the chat, by the way.
01:03:02He just threw us a nice 9.99 for a new mic for me.
01:03:05Appreciate that, Reg.
01:03:06Doesn't that just go right to Ahmet?
01:03:08Yeah.
01:03:09Probably.
01:03:10Ahmet just bought another drink on vacation.
01:03:12Yeah, that's not going towards your microphone, sorry.
01:03:15Yeah, no, I'm gonna say that he doesn't get the reps.
01:03:19I think after Thursday, they would have done it already.
01:03:22And I think they're pretty stuck in their ways right now.
01:03:25So I'm gonna say that he continues to rep
01:03:26with the twos throughout the rest of the week.
01:03:29All right.
01:03:30Oh, we had one other thing we wanted to talk about.
01:03:32Are we doing it?
01:03:33Should we do it?
01:03:34Are we doing this?
01:03:35Oh yeah, the punters?
01:03:37Yeah, okay.
01:03:38So we brought this up on a show a couple of weeks ago.
01:03:41I don't think we're gonna do the financial thing
01:03:42because there's too many moving pieces in legal stuff.
01:03:44But basically, and somebody remember to tweet this out
01:03:47from the Patriot CLNS account.
01:03:49We planned this horribly.
01:03:54We are gonna do a fantasy football league,
01:03:56a Patriots beat Patriots daily CLNS fantasy football league.
01:04:00But only punters, that's it.
01:04:03There's gonna be eight teams.
01:04:05Everybody gets four punters.
01:04:07So that last guy you draft,
01:04:08you kind of have to keep track
01:04:10because he might suck and get cut.
01:04:11You got to get his replacement.
01:04:13So where are we getting the eight teams?
01:04:14It's four of us and it's gonna be four of you.
01:04:19What you need to do if you want to join the league,
01:04:21tweet at Patriot CLNS.
01:04:23Somebody put a tweet up again.
01:04:25I know we planned this terribly.
01:04:27Somebody put a tweet up and reply to the tweet
01:04:30and tell us why you should be,
01:04:33why you are the special team sicko fan
01:04:35that should be in our punters only CLNS fantasy league.
01:04:38You'll get to be in a league with four of us.
01:04:40We'll do the draft at some point next week
01:04:43after the final preseason game before the NFL season starts.
01:04:46And we'll see what happens.
01:04:47Fun thing we're gonna do.
01:04:48Some people in the comments came up with this idea.
01:04:50I think it's a fun way for you guys to interact with us.
01:04:52So it's happening.
01:04:55If you don't have, oh, if people don't have Twitter,
01:04:56what do we do?
01:04:57If you don't have Twitter,
01:04:58is there like a Patriot CLNS email?
01:05:02I don't think so.
01:05:04I don't know.
01:05:05Could they just leave a comment
01:05:07like on this video when it goes?
01:05:11Taylor, what were you gonna say?
01:05:12I just said we should post on Reels.
01:05:15Just leave a comment on this YouTube.
01:05:20Leave a comment on this video or on Twitter
01:05:24and we'll get in touch with you
01:05:25and we'll get you in our punter league.
01:05:27And that's the thing we're gonna do.
01:05:29It'll be fun.
01:05:30I hope.
01:05:31Probably be a mess.
01:05:32We'll get the best floor and go from there, yeah.
01:05:33Yeah, all right.
01:05:34So have fun with that.
01:05:36Somebody tell Amit or Ricky or Jackson to put a tweet up.
01:05:40Again, did not plan this well at all,
01:05:41but I wanted to make sure we got this out today
01:05:43so we have some time.
01:05:44But until the next one,
01:05:45for Brian Hines, Mike Kadlec, Taylor Kyles,
01:05:47I'm Alex Barth.
01:05:48New Patriots daily tomorrow, Taylor?
01:05:52Tomorrow.
01:05:53Are we doing a new Pat's daily tomorrow?
01:05:54Probably not.
01:05:55Probably not.
01:05:56Probably not.
01:05:57If we do it, it'll be a fun surprise.
01:05:58All right.
01:05:59We haven't planned on them on the off days.
01:06:01In both off days, something's happened.
01:06:03So maybe we will be live.
01:06:04That's true.
01:06:05Yeah, yeah.
01:06:06So keep an eye out.
01:06:07Probably something Wednesday.
01:06:09All right.
01:06:10I'll just wrap it up here.
01:06:11I'll talk to you guys next time.
01:06:12Bye.
01:06:14Bye.
