00:00But the only place today where it is snowing as hard as it is in Green Bay this afternoon
00:11is in Cincinnati, where the Giants are being clobbered by the Bengals.
00:15Let's get you up to date on all the scores right now.
00:17Weather is beautiful down in Tampa, 17 to nothing.
00:20The Buccaneers about to lose for the 25th straight time.
00:24Los Angeles and Cleveland.
00:26Tough game, cold and snowy, and the Rams are ahead by nine points.
00:31They scored a touchdown and missed an extra point in that game.
00:34Here's the Cincinnati-New York Giants score, 27-6.
00:37Bengals scored on their first offensive play of the game.
00:40When Anderson hit Brooks, they've been in command all the way.
00:43Philadelphia and New England, surprisingly no snow in Foxboro.
00:47Windy, 14-0 right now, and the Patriots lead the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:52Pittsburgh ahead of the New York Jets, and the Jets are playing very well.
00:56They had a touchdown callback off a blocked punt, or that game might have been tied right
01:01now.
01:02And of course, the game you're watching, Minnesota and Green Bay.
01:05Hard to see where the yard line markers are on that one, isn't it?
01:0813-6 at the half.
01:09Vikings need it.
01:10Houston ahead of Kansas City, 14-3 is the score on that game.
01:14They are in the second quarter.
01:16Now, Chicago is off today because they played Detroit on Thanksgiving.
01:20Next Sunday, Walter Payton and all that gang go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
01:24Here's what the Buccaneers are doing this afternoon.
01:27Former bearer Gary Huff having trouble.
01:29Roland Lawrence steps up and intercepts that pass for the Falcons.
01:32And Haskell Stanbeck got Atlanta on the board for the first time.
01:37Bartkowski has been throwing more this afternoon.
01:40Here he is going to Alfred Jenkins at the 22-yard line, and that led to this.
01:47Stanbeck gets his second touchdown of the game, and Tampa Bay did not think that he'd
01:51gone in, but it was ruled a touchdown.
01:53Erv?
01:54Ben, I was trying to take a peek at that Ram-Brown game.
01:57The Rams lead in the fourth quarter by a score of 9-0.
01:59I see backup quarterback David Mays.
02:02Dr. Mays is going out with an injury, but here's first quarter action.
02:07Pat Hayden finding no one open, scrambles the ball, goes for a 23-yard gain down to
02:11the Cleveland 47-yard line, which sets up a scoring opportunity from the 7 for John
02:16Capaletti.
02:17That's a touchdown.
02:18The extra point, by the way, was missed.
02:19Later in the second quarter, Raphael Stepien.
02:22Stepien kicks a field goal, and that's where it stands, 9-0.
02:26I don't know who the third quarterback for the Browns will be, but David Mays will be
02:30out the remainder of this game.
02:32Erv, let's check in now on the Bengals and the Giants.
02:35We'll show you that first offensive play of the game for the Bengals, and Anderson, who's
02:39had an off-and-on year, really unloads this time.
02:4448 yards.
02:45Brooks, it was 7-0 after the extra point.
02:48Archie Griffin, stopped by that tough Minnesota defense a few weeks ago.
02:53Longest run of the year was 25 yards until this 31-yard run right here.
02:58Booby Clark bounces off an umpire, careens past one man, and just battles his way into
03:03the end zone.
03:05Anderson wants Brooks again.
03:07Second time, these two hook up for a touchdown.
03:09It was 20-0, missed extra point.
03:12Anderson wants his rookie tied in, Jim Corbett, and he's got him, and it was 27-0 in this
03:20game before the Giants finally got on the board.
03:23Joe Pizarsik coming off an injury, going to Robinson, number 85, and it was 27-6.
03:31That's the way it still stands, and they are now in the fourth quarter.
03:34Erv, we had a brief update on that Brown-Ram game.
03:38Terry Luck is the backup quarterback who will be playing the remainder of the game for the
03:41injured David Mays.
03:42New England and Philadelphia are doing battle in the fourth quarter up there, and it's 14-0
03:46in the fourth quarter.
03:47Here's a first-quarter touchdown pass from Steve Grogan to Stanley Morgan, and it's 7-0
03:53New England right off the bat.
03:55Grogan likes to go to the air, and this time he goes to his running back, Sam the Bam Cunningham,
03:59who takes a screen pass and wades down the left sideline, down to the Eagles' 16-yard
04:03line, where Grogan puts the ball in the air again, this time hitting Darrell Stingley.
04:08Touchdown New England.
04:09They led 14-0 here.
04:10The Eagles had an opportunity for a field goal, but passed it up here on a fourth downplay
04:15late in the second quarter.
04:16Jaworski sacked, and that's the way things stand right now in the fourth quarter.
04:19New England 14, Philadelphia nothing.
04:21All right, Erv, now let's check in on the Minnesota-Green Bay game that you folks are
04:25watching.
04:26Tough weather conditions out there, but Minnesota just about has to win this game.
04:30They can't stand a divisional loss with Chicago pursuing them.
04:34McClanahan turned it over right here, and that led to a Green Bay score.
04:39Carroll running on a bit of a draw.
04:42First down for the Packers.
04:43How do you know where to spot the ball?
04:46Whitehurst on the keeper.
04:47The rookie from Furman gets in.
04:49It was 6-0.
04:50And then Lee, who has replaced the injured Fran Tarkenton, went to white.
04:54This is a beautiful pass play, considering all the circumstances in Green Bay.
04:59On any day, that'll be a nice play.
05:01Now here's Fred Cox, time running out, hit this field goal, 13-6 right now.
05:06Minnesota leading Green Bay out to half.
05:08And, of course, coming up on January 2nd on CBS is the Cotton Bowl, matching Texas against
05:14Notre Dame with a national championship at stake.
05:16And, Jimmy the Greek, what's your early line on that game?
05:19Well, after watching Texas beat Texas A&M yesterday, I had it close to even before that.
05:25But now you have to make Texas a slight favorite.
05:27Razor's edge in that game, Greek?
05:28What do you get for a field goal?
05:32The NFL Today on CBS will continue right after these messages from your local stations.
