At the start of the day there will be rain in eastern England and showers along the west coast of Wales and in northern Scotland but it will generally be dry elsewhere. In the afternoon there will be more spells of bright skies and sunshine across the country, but there also be scattered cloud cover and showers in addition to a cold northerly. As the evening approaches the showers become less pervasive and the skies clear for most of the country.

00:00Hello, good morning. Following a very wet 24 hours in some places, the weather is turning
00:06drier, brighter, albeit colder during the next day or so. Northerly winds arrive. We've
00:13seen those northerly winds across northern Scotland through the last few days. They're
00:16going to spread south now, moving the heavy rain south with them, but still a few hours
00:22to come of heavy downpours, especially across the south coast, parts of Hampshire, Kent
00:27into Sussex during the early to mid-morning. Of course, some transport disruption and additionally
00:34transport disruption potentially remaining where we've seen the heavy rain during the
00:38last 24 hours. But brighter skies are arriving, albeit with a cold wind, 13 or 14 Celsius
00:46in the south, 9 to 11 for the north temperatures, several degrees below the seasonal average.
00:52Those winds also containing some showers. The showers not as heavy or as persistent
00:57as we've seen during the last week or so. Shouldn't add to the problems too much, but
01:02they'll tend to stick around across northern and western coasts overnight whilst they fade
01:06away inland. Lengthy clear spells then across northern and central as well as the south
01:11of England, east Wales, and under those clear skies temperatures dipping to the mid or even
01:17low single figures in places. So perhaps a touch of frost first thing this weekend, but
01:21a beautiful start to the day across the Midlands, East Anglia, the south, south Wales as well,
01:26plenty of sunshine. Cloudier skies elsewhere and towards the northwest, a thickening of
01:31that cloud. Also quite a number of showers arriving on Saturday afternoon, more persistent
01:35rain in the far west of Scotland. It's going to feel cold once again, but it's going to
01:39stay bright in the south and the east and it's a bright start for many on Sunday as
01:43well. Once again, a chilly start to the day, but we keep the sunny spells across much of
01:48Scotland into eastern England by the afternoon. However, Northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest
01:54will see the wind and rain pick up once again as the next Atlantic system arrives. We'll
02:00keep you updated on that right here at the Met Office and you can follow those updates
02:04on our YouTube channel. Bye bye.
