20 September - National weather forecast presented by Helen Roberts
Transcript
00:00Hello, fairly quiet weather for many of us for the next couple of days. That's because
00:06we have high pressure in charge keeping things fairly quiet and settled. Having said that,
00:12also bringing a good deal of cloud for many of us and that cloud could just about be thick
00:17enough to give the odd light drizzly shower but it will be dry for the majority and a
00:22few of us will see some glimpses of sunshine when it will feel fairly pleasant in that
00:26sunshine with temperatures in the high teens for many. There is a slight exception which
00:31is the far north and north west of Scotland. Here we have a weather front close by which
00:36is bringing some thicker cloud with outbreaks of rain. And there's little change actually
00:41in the forecast overnight tonight and in fact into tomorrow. So tonight the cloud will melt
00:47away a little bit in places but may fill in with some mist and fog here and there and
00:52that may linger into the first part of tomorrow as well. Still that thicker cloud with some
00:56outbreaks of rain for north west Scotland and it won't be a cold night. Temperatures
01:01for most remaining in double figures. So we start tomorrow on a bright note actually for
01:08many with a little bit of sunshine around first thing away from that mist and fog but
01:12it will tend to cloud over as the day progresses and a very similar day to today really with
01:19a cloudy picture for many. That cloud just about thick enough for a few drizzly showers
01:23but dry for the majority and still we have this thicker cloud with outbreaks of rain
01:28for north west Scotland. Temperature wise if anything a nudge higher than today just
01:34about touching the low 20s in parts of the Midlands and south east. So as we head through
01:41Wednesday evening we do start to see this weather front making very slow progress south
01:46eastwards and that will be the trend through Wednesday night and into Thursday and Friday
01:51and it is very slow progress indeed. It may well stall in places for a while giving a
01:57lot of cloud with outbreaks of rain for some whereas others will remain dry with still
02:02some brightness over the next few days. So to keep up to date with the latest forecast
02:07and any warnings because there could be some very strong winds in the north on Sunday do
