20 August - National weather forecast presented by Dan Stroud
Transcript
00:00Hello. What a difference a week makes. This time last week, we're in the midst of the heat wave, with temperatures into the mid-30s.
00:08This weekend, a very different feel, feeling much cooler and rain has also made a reappearance.
00:14Rather cloudy across much of England and Wales during the course of Saturday afternoon, with a few drizzly showers here and there.
00:22Temperatures generally around average for the time of year, reaching into the high teens across the north and the mid-20s across the south.
00:31Also rather breezy across parts of northern Scotland, and those stronger gusts transferring southwards as a cold front sinks south across northern areas during the course of this evening and overnight.
00:42But as that cold front arrives across parts of North Wales and the North Midlands, becoming increasingly fragmented.
00:49Overnight temperatures staying firmly in double figures, although in some rural spots we are likely to see temperatures just dip into mid-single figures, so chilly in some places.
00:59So cloud generally increasing across parts of England and Wales during the course of Sunday morning after a bright start, with some outbreaks of rain arriving across parts of Wales and the south-west during the course of the afternoon.
01:13Temperatures again close to average for the time of year, although we do see some brighter spirals across the north, feeling rather pleasant in any sunshine, with highs of 20 across parts of Scotland.
01:24And that changeable theme continues into the new working week, with outbreaks of rain expected across the country during the course of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, although hints of settling down a little later in the week.
