00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update.
00:03A dry weekend for most of us and a sunny one to come also,
00:06thanks to a large area of high pressure
00:09that's ambling in from the Atlantic.
00:11These weather fronts close to the far northwest of Scotland
00:15by Saturday will bring some patchy rain.
00:17And at the moment, it's far from completely dry.
00:20Through the rest of Friday, some showers
00:21across northern England and central and eastern Scotland,
00:24one or two for North Wales and the North Midlands.
00:26But further south, it is dry with sunny spells,
00:30a fresher feel.
00:31Actually, temperatures in most places
00:33below average for the time of year.
00:35But some good spells of sunshine for northern Ireland.
00:37Western Scotland could see highs of 17 or 18 degrees.
00:41Further south, we're looking at low to maybe mid-20s.
00:43But feeling cooler with these showers over northeast
00:46England, eastern Scotland, still a few of those
00:48around this evening if you're heading out onto the roads.
00:51But they should fade pretty quickly.
00:53So for most, it's a fine Friday evening,
00:55a dry and a clear Friday night until that weather front
00:58arrives, bringing rain into the Western Isles
01:00and then the Highlands through the early hours.
01:02That will start to lift the temperatures
01:04as the cloud spills in.
01:06But for most, ahead of that with the clear skies
01:09and the light winds, it'll be a pretty fresh night,
01:11certainly compared to recent nights with temperatures
01:13in many places down into single figures.
01:16So a coolish start to Saturday, but a sunny start
01:19for England, Wales, much of southern Scotland,
01:23eastern parts of northern Ireland.
01:25It will cloud over for northern Ireland
01:26with a little bit of rain and that cloud bringing
01:29some rain across Scotland as we go through the day,
01:31mostly focused across the far north.
01:34But a few showers are possible through central parts
01:36of Scotland also.
01:38No such luck if you're after showers further south
01:40that is dry, fine with sunny periods.
01:43And after a coolish start, feeling pretty warm
01:46by the afternoon, temperatures getting quite widely
01:49on Saturday afternoon into the low to mid-20s
01:53across the south.
01:54Again, with more cloud further north, it won't be as warm.
01:56We're looking at high teens generally.
01:58As we head through Saturday evening,
02:00any patchy rain across eastern Scotland, I suspect,
02:03will tend to drift away.
02:04But the rain will linger over northern parts
02:06of the Highlands, the Western Isles, and the Northern Isles.
02:09Quite breezy here also.
02:10That's all courtesy of a weather front
02:13that's just wriggling around through this weekend
02:15and may well bring some more rain to western Scotland
02:18on Sunday.
02:19But for most, that area of high pressure
02:21is just continuing to dominate.
02:24As I said, just ambling in from the Atlantic.
02:26So Sunday will again, for the vast majority,
02:28be dry and fine with sunny spells
02:30as that rain across the far northwest.
02:33A warmer day on Sunday and signs that things
02:36could hot up a little next week with potentially
02:38in the south temperatures back into the low 30s.
02:41More on that if you stay up to date
