06 July - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there. It's settling down and warming up over the next few days.
00:05High pressure extends from the south, but still, across more northern areas,
00:09that westerly wind will deliver cloud and outbreaks of rain.
00:13And that's how we see Tuesday evening.
00:15Some persistent rain across western Scotland, including the Western Isles,
00:19as it extends towards the Northern Isles.
00:22Some rain also across more eastern parts of Scotland,
00:25as the damp weather extends down towards the far north and northwest of England,
00:28the far north of Wales, and always more cloud and some patchy rain and drizzle for Northern Ireland.
00:33Now, further south, some clearer skies, but it is mild outside.
00:37A windy start to the morning, though, on Wednesday, across the north as well as the west.
00:41Those strong winds continue to bring with it cloud and outbreaks of rain,
00:46particularly for the Northwestern Isles. Rain also for Shetland and Orkney.
00:51Eastern areas, fringes of Scotland, seeing some brighter weather extending down towards borders.
00:56You can see this patchy rain and drizzle just lurking across Northern Ireland,
01:00Northern England, as well as the far north of Wales.
01:03But, midlands southwards, a bright morning.
01:06Some sunshine and feeling warm as temperatures rise very quickly.
01:09A lighter breeze here.
01:11So, through Wednesday, we watch as that cloud and rain continues
01:15just to feed in across the north and the west of Scotland.
01:18In Shelter, you'll see some drier skies across more eastern areas.
01:22And it could dry up across Antrim as well as down.
01:25But, you can see across the far north of England, particularly across Pennines,
01:29low cloud here and some patchy rain and drizzle never too far away.
01:33But, brighter skies anywhere from the wash across much of Wales
01:36down towards the Severn and south of that.
01:39So, some lovely sunshine through the afternoon.
01:42And this will help temperatures up to around 23 to 26 degrees Celsius.
01:47Further north, in Shelter, across more eastern areas, we could see a 21.
01:51But, watch out for that gusty wind.
01:54So, that's the picture on Wednesday.
01:56Through Thursday, here's your cities list.
01:58Mostly fine away from the north and the west of Scotland.
02:02The sun will come out, particularly in Shelter across the east
02:04and further south across England and Wales
02:06as temperatures rise again to the low to mid-20s.
02:10And here's your broader picture through the next few days.
02:13High pressure really does extend its influence across much of the country.
02:17Always a chance of rain across the far north.
02:19But, it will warm up further, as I said, across more central and southern areas of the country.
02:23Help with some strong sunshine.
02:25Temperatures, as I said, by Friday could reach around 27 degrees Celsius.
02:29So, in summary, yes, it's settling down.
02:32It's warming up.
02:33High pressure firmly in charge.
02:35It's just really the north and the west where, from time to time,
02:38you'll see cloud and outbreaks of rain.
