00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Well, the second
00:06half of the weekend is looking much better than it did on Saturday, with Storm Anthony
00:11finally clearing away to the east. This is meaning we're going to see some high pressure
00:16briefly building into the south on Monday, so bringing a slightly more settled day here.
00:22But it's only short-lived as low pressure moves in from the west again as we go into
00:27Tuesday, bringing plenty of cloud and further outbreaks of rain. But before we go into
00:33that, let's have a look at the detail for the rest of today. It'll be dry for many with
00:39plenty of sunshine around, but still a few showers developing, especially down the central
00:44spine of the UK. There will be some heavier showers, especially across Scotland, northern
00:50England and Northern Ireland. We could see the odd rumble of thunder here, too. Generally,
00:56though, winds will be light, still a bit of a brisk breeze down eastern coast that might
01:01just take the edge of the temperatures there. But elsewhere, feeling much more pleasant
01:06than Saturday, with highs of twenty one in the south. Now, as we move through to Sunday
01:12evening and we'll slowly start to see those showers easing and they'll become increasingly
01:17confined to the northern half of the UK, maybe the odd heavier shower for a time. But for
01:23many, plenty of clear spells developing, maybe the odd patch of mist and fog in eastern
01:28and southern areas. But with light winds and clear skies, temperatures will be dropping
01:33a bit more readily, quite widely than we saw on Saturday night. So for rural areas, those
01:39temperatures might just get down into the mid or even low single figures. But this will
01:44make for a fresh, bright start to the new week. Plenty of sunshine around, though we
01:50will once again see that cloud starting to bubble up as we go towards mid to late morning
01:55and that will allow a few showers to develop, mostly across the northern half of the UK,
02:00maybe the odd one reaching into East Anglia for a time. These will be mostly light in
02:04nature. The heaviest showers will be across the far north of Scotland, where again we
02:09could see the odd thunderstorm. But let's just have a look further west. We've got that
02:13low pressure moving in as we go into Monday afternoon, bringing increasing cloud cover
02:19across the southwest as well as the odd spot of rain. But it will still feel pleasant in
02:25any of that sunshine. Temperatures doing even better than what we're expecting for Sunday
02:29with highs of 22, maybe even locally 23 in the southeast. As we go into Monday evening,
02:36those showers will continue for a time across the north, but they will slowly start to ease
02:42and allow some clear spells to develop light winds here. But things starting to increase
02:48wind wise from the southwest as that low pushes in, bringing more in the way of cloud
02:53and outbreaks of rain too, especially to southwestern areas as we go into the early hours of Tuesday.
