04:19Since this is the GT3 engine,
04:22this air intake,
04:23which you and I are so used to seeing on a Cayman,
04:25isn't enough.
04:26So they've added this air intake,
04:28which happens to be covered in carbon fiber reinforced plastic,
04:31because this is the Weissach package.
04:33We'll talk about that more in a minute.
04:35But that feeds air into the air box,
04:37which is right inside the cabin.
04:41And that means that the sound
04:44is in the cabin as well.

04:56That last few thousand rpm is just sex.
04:59I mean,
05:00there's no partition,
05:02there's no glass,
05:03there's no blanket over the air box.
05:06It is right in there with me,
05:08right behind my ear.
05:11So I can go through all seven gears
05:14and just hear it wailing.
05:17It sounds
05:20so mechanical.
05:30This thing turns me into a baby owl.
05:41I've either really hurt my knee
05:43or I'm a baby owl,
05:44because I don't know what that sound is.
05:47But for some reason,
05:48that's the thing that this car listens.
05:51And different to the normal GT4,
05:55the PDK in this addresses one of our only concerns.
06:00It has shorter gearing,
06:02which means I can experience at least two gears
06:05before I'm hitting the speed limit.
06:07Top of second gear feels like it's about 70 miles an hour,
06:10which is still quick.
06:12And yet,
06:13I don't actually feel the need to use the paddles.
06:16This PDK is so good at knowing what I want to do.
06:23That top of fourth gear on the straight
06:26is
06:29so brilliant.
06:31This is a Cayman.

08:15but the front end,
08:16you know, obviously it's mid-engine,
08:18so it's so delicate.
08:21And if I'm being honest,
08:22I'm getting quite a lot of understeer,

08:25That doesn't matter,
08:26because A, I'm getting so much communication
08:29that I can fix it using steering
08:31or throttle inputs,
08:33and it is a real, real track car,
08:37which means that the alignment
08:39is completely adjustable.
08:40Camber, caster, tow, whatever you want.
08:43The ride height is adjustable.
08:46Everything can be tweaked.
08:48This is honestly
08:52a lovely car to drive.
08:54But my biggest concern,
08:55and it's always my biggest concern
08:58when it comes to Porsches,
09:01are they a little bit too serious
09:05to your liking?

10:23So the things that distinguish
10:24the GT4 from a normal Cayman
10:25are things like the side intakes
10:29come out a bit,
10:30and there's a spoiler,
10:31and then there's this kind of vent here.
10:32And that's basically all you get
10:33on the GT4.
10:34Maybe a lower ride height as well.

10:36So not only do we now have
10:37front axle lift,
10:38which is the thing you can't see,
10:39which is a must.
10:40It's absolutely imperative.
10:41We now get carbon fiber
10:42reinforced plastic everywhere.
10:44So this hood,
10:45it's currently visible carbon fiber
10:48because of the Weissach package,
10:49but I can't say Weissach
10:52because the Germans say Weissach.

16:31it's its own car.
16:33From its smaller proportions
16:34to its mid-engine
16:35driving dynamics,
16:36it exists in its own space.
16:38And no question,
16:39this is a Cayman
16:40in its ultimate form.
16:42The in-cabin sound alone
16:45graduates the GT4 RS
16:47into the realms
16:48of Porsche legend.
16:50And those hallowed halls
16:52are not easily entered.
