00:00Hello there. Here's your Thursday afternoon weather update from the Met
00:04Office. Now through the rest of today it's fine. We've seen the last of the
00:09rain just clearing Shetland, some sunshine coming through. We're seeing a
00:13mix of clouds as well and some showers particularly for Northern Ireland as
00:18well as Western Scotland. They will be a scattered affair and for most it's a
00:23pleasant end to the day with some warmth in the air. Now temperatures won't be as
00:28high as yesterday, even so it's a pleasant afternoon with values coming in
00:33around 17 for eastern parts of Scotland, 19 down towards the southeast of England,
00:3817 for Mid Wales, 15 for Northern Ireland. Now through this evening and overnight
00:43any cloud tends to melt away and with some clearing skies and a light breeze
00:49we'll see some fog forming particularly across Mid Wales as well as England and
00:54it could be fairly extensive as we enter Friday morning. A bit chilly to start
00:58the day across central and eastern areas but further west that wind has
01:01already picked up some strength and with that cloud rolling in. So from 7 a.m.
01:07tomorrow we do have a wind warning across the northwest of Scotland and we
01:12are expecting high spring tides as well so there could be some coastal
01:16overtopping as gusts reach around 55 miles an hour, slightly higher perhaps
01:20in exposure. The first of the rain then arrives through the morning across
01:24Northern Ireland, Western Scotland, Wales as well as the West Country creeping in
01:28across the northwest of England and then this heavier band of rain, this is
01:32the cold front with some gusty winds extends from Northern Ireland to Western
01:36parts of Scotland through the latter part of the day. So expect some intense
01:39bursts here and as I said some gusty winds. Ahead of it though we're seeing
01:43some fine weather to end Friday with some sunshine temperatures not as high
01:47but even so 15 to 17 Celsius still some warmth in the air where you catch that
01:52sunshine. Now through Friday evening and overnight that cloud continues to push
01:56eastwards without breaks of rain so some wet weather for a time but it marches on
02:00quite quickly as we head into the early hours of Saturday morning with some
02:04showers to follow but also some clearer skies so when Saturday will start rather
02:09wet across central and eastern areas. A legacy of showers through the afternoon
02:14across eastern counties however elsewhere it's a fine day with some
02:17sunshine and again temperatures around the mid-teens. However this is the
02:21outlook through Sunday, a deepening area of low pressure tracks across the
02:25northwest. We do have warnings extending across Scotland, Northern Ireland down
02:30towards the tip of Wales in the northwest of England and gusts in
02:34exposure towards the far north could reach 70 to 80 miles an hour. Join me
02:38later with more updates or you can catch the 10-day trend on our YouTube channel
02:43as well. I'll see you later.
