कश्मीर में पहली बार अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की मैराथन का आयोजन किया गया, जिसका उद्घाटन श्रीनगर के पोलो स्टेडियम से मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला और फिल्म अभिनेता सुनील शेट्टी ने हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया। इस आयोजन में मैराथन में हिस्सा लेने वालों को पुरस्कृत भी किया जाएगा। मैराथन में लगभग 2000 से अधिक लोगों ने हिस्सा लिया है। इस मैराथन के माध्यम से कश्मीर की शांति और सुरक्षा का संदेश दुनिया भर तक पहुंचाया जा रहा है। अभिनेता सुनील शेट्टी ने कहा, "मुझे बहुत खुशी है कि मैं इस मैराथन का एक हिस्सा बन पाया।"
