श्रीनगर, जम्मू-कश्मीर: कश्मीर में पहली बार अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की मैराथन का आयोजन किया गया, जिसका उद्घाटन श्रीनगर के पोलो स्टेडियम से मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला और फिल्म अभिनेता सुनील शेट्टी ने हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया। इस दौरान सीएम उमर अब्दुल्ला ने कहा कि मैं उन सभी धावकों को बधाई देना चाहता हूं जिन्होंने अपनी दौड़ पूरी की। मुझे हाफ मैराथन पूरी करने की उम्मीद नहीं थी, क्योंकि मैंने अपने जीवन में पहले कभी 12-13 किलोमीटर से अधिक नहीं दौड़ा था। लेकिन अन्य प्रतिभागियों के साथ दौड़ने से मुझे प्रोत्साहन मिला। मैं पर्यटन विभाग और इस आयोजन में शामिल सभी लोगों की सराहना करना चाहता हूं। वहीं अभिनेता सुनील शेट्टी ने कहा, इसमें दुनिया भर से बहुत सारे प्रतिभागी शामिल हैं, जो बहुत अच्छा लगता है। यह दुनिया को एक बहुत ही स्पष्ट संदेश देता है कि हर जगह से लोग भाग लेने के लिए यहां आ रहे हैं, और यह एक बड़ी बात है।
