00:00Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about the hardware.
00:03So this is pretty interesting.
00:05So I think that the iPhone, it came out with the titanium design and we're actually seeing
00:11that this is probably one of Apple's worst designs as far as durability.
00:18It just, the back glass breaks really easy and they marketed this titanium design a lot
00:24and it's kind of a little bit of a bummer.
00:26So this is a phone that you 100% have to put a case on.
00:29The Pixel 8 Pro and the S23 Ultra are definitely more durable than the iPhone for sure.
00:34So I wanted to throw that out there this year.
00:38So the Pixel 8 Pro and S23, they're both glass and metal phones as well too.
00:41And all of these phones are IP68 dust and water resistant.
00:44So let's talk about some of the unique things here with the hardware.
00:48So the Pixel 8 Pro, it has a temperature sensor on it right here, which is a kind of bizarre
00:55thing.
00:56It is there, you can monitor the temperature of yourself or objects.
01:01But I always thought that was kind of strange.
01:03What I like about each device is that they all have these really, really nice matte finishes
01:09as well too.
01:10And they don't pick up fingerprints and stuff like that.
01:12And they all look really good this year.
01:14Also, the unique thing about the S23 Ultra, and I think this is just Samsung is just way
01:21ahead of the game in terms of the pen software, is it does have a built-in S Pen on here.
01:28And it's really, really good, guys.
01:30I've seen people do digital artwork with this.
01:32You can create GIFs with this as well too.
01:35It is a really, really great pen.
01:38I use it kind of like making grocery lists just real quick.
01:41It's just really easy to just take it out and just start writing on it.
01:44But you have smart select.
01:45You can even write stuff in the search bar as well too.
01:49And it's really accurate with that.
01:51And even if you're like a content creator, because the pen is Bluetooth, you can just
01:55click the button right here and it'll take a photo, video from a distance.
02:00So it's really, really nifty.
02:02I actually really like the built-in S Pen.
02:05Very, very cool feature.
02:06As far as the iPhone goes, it's one kind of unique thing is the MagSafe on here.
02:12So you know you can attach MagSafe accessories on here like a wallet and stuff like that.
02:17Now you can get a MagSafe case for the S23.
02:21I'm not sure about the Pixel yet, but you do have those that you can put a case on and
02:25get the MagSafe, but this has the MagSafe on it.
02:28And it's very, very cool.
02:29So you can attach those accessories on there as well too.
02:32And the iPhone does have USB Type-C now as well too.
02:36Let's talk about displays this year.
02:38The displays are fantastic on these devices this year.
02:43So I think that the S23 has the best display.
02:47It just looks fantastic.
02:49And fun fact, Samsung pretty much makes the displays on the other phones as well too.
02:54But just the way they designed the display, it looks like just like a mini TV.
02:59And I just really, really like it.
03:01It's got these very nice slim bezels on here.
03:05And then it has just a medium or like a minimal curve on here.
03:09And that's the display.
03:11I think it's just an awesome display.
03:13Now with the other devices, they went completely flat, which I feel like the curved display
03:17gives it kind of like a premium look to it.
03:19A more, I guess, luxurious look.
03:22But it's something that I absolutely love here.
03:25So one cool thing with the Pixel that I noticed is that it's one of the brightest displays
03:31that you can get right now.
03:33Well, I think there's one Apple phone that's brighter, but it has a 2400 nits peak brightness.
03:38So that's kind of the cool thing with this one as well too.
03:41And then the iPhone has a very bright display as well too at 2000 nits.
03:45All of them are pretty bright in direct sunlight.
03:47You won't really struggle with viewing.
03:50But as you can see, I just think the Samsung panel looks a lot better.
03:54Apple has the dynamic island on here, which can be cool as, you know, sometimes you can
03:59interact with certain applications and stuff like that.
04:01But a ton of applications don't really support it.
04:04They're all basically 1440p displays, very high PPI displays, all 120 hertz, OLED, all
04:10that good stuff.
04:11So, you know, they have a lot going on when it comes to the specifications of the display.
04:16But like I said, as far as the viewing goes, I think Samsung just has a really, really
04:21nice looking panel on here.
04:23So let's talk about the overall speed on these devices here.
04:28So they're all flagship devices.
04:30So they're all very, very fast.
04:31As you can see, the iPhone pretty much with the, you know, the best scores here.
04:37And yeah, they're all pretty fast for the average person.
04:41You really won't notice too much of a difference if you're just scrolling and, you know, opening
04:46up applications, animations, everything looks really smooth on these devices.
04:51When it comes to gaming and stuff like that, I do think that I personally think that the
04:56S23 is just the best gaming experience out of the three.
05:00It just seems to not get as hot, in my opinion.
05:03But as far as the speed goes, if we just got into like a little speed test here, you can
05:11see, and I guess we'll do, since the iPhone has the best score here, just to show you
05:17guys.
05:18So even if we do it with the Pixel, you can see it's still pretty much on par.
05:25So even if you open up like more intensive applications, then you'll start to see that
05:30difference for sure, maybe.
05:32But for me, just using these phones, guys, I'm really not seeing like a massive difference
05:37in terms of, you know, daily use.
05:39I think the average person.
05:40Now, I did notice the iPhone does get into games a lot faster than these two phones.
05:48But like I said, guys, it's not like a massive difference when it comes to speed.
05:55Like I said, scrolling, still very smooth.
06:00Animations.
06:00So they're all pretty similar, I think, for the average person.
06:04You will...
06:05No, that was already open.
06:07But you will notice that, you know, they all kind of feel the same when it comes to speed
06:12and stuff like that.
06:15Now, when we get into a game like PUBG, and like I said, I think the experience on the
06:20Galaxy, just because of the screen, and I just feel like this phone does not really
06:25heat up like that.
06:26And it's just...
06:27But they all do a very smooth job at playing video games, stuff like that.
06:33You see we got PUBG 90 frames, super, super smooth on all of these.
06:37Now, Apple claimed, and I haven't been able to check that out yet, but Apple, this phone
06:43can supposedly play console games.
06:46They showed off the Resident Evil thing.
06:48Which, and again, how many people are going to play actual console games on their phone
06:53is, you know, that's something up for debate, right?
06:57But they said that this phone can do that.
06:59And my issue is this phone has not gotten as hot as when it first came out.
07:04It had got a software update to help with it.
07:07But for now, it's pretty cool as well.
07:11But, you know, just with the dynamic island, it's not like my favorite phone to go to for
07:17gaming because of the, you know, it just has a bigger punch hole on it.
07:21And the Pixel here, it might actually get the 90 frames for PUBG.
07:28It took a minute for these two to get it.
07:30But this phone does a pretty good job too.
07:33It's not really heating up and stuff like that.
07:35So I think for the average person, you won't really notice too much of a difference when
07:39it comes to performance.
07:40Even if you're doing some like heavy multitasking and bouncing in and out of applications, you're
07:45not going to notice that big of a difference for the average person.
07:48Like if you are more intense when it comes to gaming, you probably want to go with the
07:52iPhone or the Galaxy.
07:55Each phone has stereo speakers.
07:57Let's go ahead and hear them side by side.
07:59Starting with the Galaxy.
08:10Yeah, the
08:39iPhone is definitely a little bit louder than the S23.
08:48I can feel the vibrations way harder on the table from the iPhone.
09:09So
09:30all right, so the speakers on all three of these phones sound really good.
09:34It sounds like the iPhone has probably the hardest hitting bass on the speakers.
09:42I think for overall sound, I do really like the S23.
09:45It has a little bit more detail to the mids and highs and stuff like that.
09:50But I think the overall most balanced speaker is probably the Pixel 8 Pro.
09:54It's almost just as loud and as thumpy as the iPhone, but it also has just a really
10:00good balance to the sound.
10:03But you can't really go wrong with either of these speakers.
10:05They're all really good speakers.
10:07All right, so let's go ahead and talk about the fingerprint sensor.
10:10This is where Samsung pretty much takes the win here.
10:14It has the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and then it also has face unlock.
10:18It's much faster than the Pixel's optical fingerprint sensor.
10:22The Pixel does have really good face unlock.
10:24You can actually use it now for banking apps and stuff like that, which is pretty cool.
10:27But the optical, like I said, it's not as fast as the ultrasonic one.
10:33And then the iPhone has the most secure face unlock with Face ID on here as well too.
10:38And it works very well, but unfortunately, it only gives you one method to be able to
10:43do that.
10:44So I do want to point out some cool stuff.
10:46The Pixel, for what we know right now, has the longest software lifespan.
10:52So this has seven years of major OS updates with this phone.
10:57And that's from Google themselves, so that's pretty cool.
11:00And I think that's even more than the iPhone.
11:02I think the iPhone gets somewhere around six years of updates.
11:06And then you also have on the S23, you have four years of major OS updates.
11:12And then you also get security patches after that as well too.
11:14But the Pixel, from what it's looking like, it is going to have the longest lifespan.
11:19So you can keep this phone for a very long time and get the major OS updates, which is
11:24pretty cool.
11:25We know with the Pixel, you get a really smooth operating system here.
11:30Just really smooth animation-wise.
11:32It's bare Android.
11:34There's not a ton of stuff going on as far as additional features and stuff like that.
11:38But yeah, a lot of people like it.
11:40And like I said, you get updates really fast.
11:42That's the thing about Pixel.
11:43When the next Android 50 comes out, you'll get the beta.
11:46With the iPhone, you pretty much know what you're getting.
11:48A lot of people like these phones for iMessage, FaceTime, stuff like that.
11:52Also, iOS updates are pretty fast as well too.
11:56What's cool about the Galaxy phones is that not only it comes with a ton of software stuff
12:02like Samsung desktop support as well too, which is really cool.
12:06And then also, these Galaxy phones have Good Lock.
12:09So you just get a ton of customization with the Galaxy phones.
12:13So it's just really easy to customize these phones and get them to look how you want them
12:17to look.
12:18I think it's really great for power users.
12:21You have the S-Pen software.
12:22So I think this is one of the best power user phones as well too.
12:27So I want to touch on what each phone does really well as far as cameras because they
12:32all take great photos.
12:33They're flagship phones.
12:34They're all going to take great photos.
12:36But the Galaxy does have really great zooming quality.
12:39You have 100x zoom on here.
12:40It takes really great 10x, 30x zoom on here.
12:44The colors and everything are just really nice.
12:46You have a macro mode on here.
12:48And what's really nice about the Galaxy phones is that you have the Expert Raw and you also
12:52have Pro Video on here as well too.
12:55So you can really take advantage of all that good stuff.
12:59So that's what I really like.
13:00And then you also have the 200 megapixels.
13:02So that's kind of what makes it really unique in my opinion.
13:06It's just a really well-balanced camera phone.
13:10So the iPhone, I think they don't have a Pro Res mode on here.
13:16They have a Pro Res mode, but they don't have a Pro Video mode where you can mess with the
13:20ISO and all that good stuff.
13:22But the iPhone, it takes really great video in my opinion.
13:25Some of the best video, just really natural looking.
13:28I'm not a huge fan of the iPhone stills actually, especially when it comes to skin tones and
13:32stuff like that.
13:33But in general, you get really great shots.
13:35You have the Raw Max on here as well too.
13:38And you have a macro mode.
13:40This year's iPhone does 5x optical zoom, 25x for the max zoom.
13:45And it takes great shots.
13:47So I think it's fantastic for that.
13:49And like I said, it takes fantastic video.
13:52Can't hate on it at all.
13:55You guys know I'm a big fan of the Pixel phones.
13:57And I still think it takes some of the best stills that you can get pretty much in any
14:01phone.
14:02I just really love how it does when it comes to skin tone and stuff like that.
14:06It always gets my skin tone almost accurate.
14:09And definitely way more accurate than the Galaxy and the iPhone.
14:13Low light photography is pretty good as well too.
14:15But Google has a lot of software magic that they do in here.
14:19Being able to not only do the magic eraser stuff, but the Galaxy can do that as well
14:23too.
14:23But being able to move stuff, objects and stuff, it's just a really, really cool thing.
14:29You can unblur stuff.
14:30And then like I said, you have the magic eraser and stuff like that.
14:33And it honestly has kind of like a little Photoshop built into the editor application
14:40as well too.
14:41I think Google is definitely getting better with the video.
14:44I don't think it's better than the Samsung or iPhone.
14:47But it's getting there.
14:48You guys know I use it for my shorts that I do.
14:52It also needs a, where is it at?
14:56It also does not have really a pro mode on here.
14:59But I think this phone takes the best stills out of all of these phones in my opinion.
15:05Now I think what's really cool about the smartphones this year is that battery life
15:11is really, really good actually on all three of these phones.
15:13They actually have fantastic battery life.
15:15I am getting better battery life on my S23 Ultra.
15:18It has better standby time as well too than the iPhone and the Pixel.
15:23But as far as screen on time, all of these phones can go for about like a day and a half
15:28battery life.
15:29One cool thing about the S23 is that it charges much faster at 45 watts, which is pretty nice.
15:35These charge a little bit slower.
15:37But again, not like a huge deal.
15:40They all have wireless charging.
15:42The Pixel and the Galaxy have reverse wireless charging as well too, which is really nice.
15:47So overall, this year I've been pretty impressed with these phones here.
15:51I think it comes down to just little small things.
15:55So let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
