00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be talking about the Galaxy S10 5G.
00:03It's a phone we haven't talked about in quite a while and it's a very interesting
00:07phone.
00:08I remember when this phone came out and I just thought it was interesting what Samsung
00:12did.
00:13But yeah, it's like a $200 phone, you can typically only find it almost on eBay, sometimes
00:18they're on Amazon.
00:19But yeah, they'll be about $200 for an open box one, minor condition one.
00:25But it's a very interesting phone, very cheap phone as well.
00:29And I do want to talk about the overall design.
00:31So this is a much bigger phone than the S10+.
00:35So this phone is coming in at 6.7 inches and you can see it's just much bigger than the
00:41actual plus size phone.
00:43Like I said, it has 5G on it as well too, IP68 dust and water resistant, basically looks
00:49like a Galaxy S10, has that glossy finish which does pick up a ton of fingerprints.
00:55But overall, still a very nice looking design.
00:57I'm a big fan of the S10 series design, I actually think it looks much better than the
01:01S20.
01:02But yeah, you can see the headphone jack down here as well.
01:06But the interesting thing that Samsung did with this phone was they took away the SD
01:10card support and they put 5G in it and made it bigger.
01:14So I thought that was pretty interesting.
01:15It was kind of like, I guess the first phone from Samsung where they kind of started to
01:20take stuff away.
01:21A lot of people think it was the S20 series but it was technically this phone.
01:26Now this phone has a massive display so I think this was around the time where the data
01:31really started to come out that people just really liked bigger phones and Samsung has
01:35pretty much stuck with this display size, around the 6.7 to 6.8 inches.
01:40This phone has the 6.7 dynamic AMOLED display, it's HDR10+, 1440p, 502 for the PPI and then
01:47we do have the double punch hole on the right hand side and it's still a beautiful panel,
01:54just really vibrant.
01:55It is a curved panel as well which I actually like the curved panels, I was never against
02:00the curved panels.
02:01Yes, applying screen protection is much harder but for the most part, I think it still gives
02:07it that really nice premium design but I feel like I'm in a minority on that one.
02:12But yeah, a beautiful display.
02:14I think the only thing that's really aged about the display is honestly, there's no
02:18120hz or anything like that but yeah, it's a very beautiful and still feels really fast
02:24for a 60hz panel.
02:26Absolutely love the display on here, even the double punch hole, you really get used
02:30to it after a while, it's really not that big of a deal.
02:33Alright, so let's talk about performance on here.
02:36The S10 5G is still a performance beast, honestly a lot of these phones with the Snapdragon
02:42855 chipset is still going to give you really good performance and not just good performance
02:47but really good optimization.
02:48We can still play PUBG on HDR extreme, really smooth 60 frames on this beautiful panel here
02:55and yeah, I have not run into any issues with heating or lagging.
03:00This phone is very, very, very smooth.
03:03It's last major OS update was Android 12 when you were at 4.1 so in my opinion, not really
03:09missing anything as far as the software goes even though again, this phone is not getting
03:12any type of updates, any security updates or anything but yeah, for as far as gaming
03:18performance goes, this thing is still a beast, it can pretty much still play Call of Duty
03:23at a high level, pretty much any of the games in the Play Store at a pretty high graphics
03:28as well so this makes for a pretty good budget gaming phone.
03:33I think it'll do much better than a lot of mid-range phones out there as well.
03:39So for reference, here are the Geekbench scores.
03:41You guys can see and compare them too.
03:45These are when ran on Android 12 and like I said, software wise, the phone is still
03:49really fast.
03:50You're not really missing anything as far as software yet because you know, One UI hasn't
03:56changed that much.
03:57You can still pretty much find all the essential features still in this phone which is really
04:01nice.
04:02I also want to talk about the fingerprint scanner on here as well too.
04:06You do have that.
04:07You can do face unlock as well too.
04:08It is an ultrasonic and it's very fast as well.
04:12One of the most surprising things about this phone, it is the stereo speakers.
04:17Some of the loudest speakers are from Samsung.
04:38I mean, these are really loud and really crystal clear.
04:49Some of my favorite speakers, they sound almost just as good as the S24 and the S23.
04:55The bass is just not as loud but really impressive speakers on this device.
05:00Alright, so just to touch on the image quality here, you still get really good photo quality
05:05out of the S10 5G.
05:08The only thing is, just like with a lot of these older flagships, is that it might suffer
05:12a little in low light situations and you know, anything pretty much.
05:16If it's medium to low light, you might get like a softer or grainier photo.
05:20It's got a 12MP standard and a 12MP telephoto, 2x optical with a 16MP ultrawide and a 0.3
05:27depth sensor.
05:28It can shoot in 4K60 and you have a 10MP selfie and then you also have a depth sensor up front
05:35so that's why you have that dual punch hole and then that also shoots in 4K60.
05:40Just looking at the image quality, it still takes pretty good pictures.
05:43I think the only thing I didn't really like about the cameras were the selfie cam on the
05:49S10 series really lightens the skin, really doesn't get the skin tone right, especially
05:56if you're like a darker person or whatever.
05:58But yeah, so it is pretty good for the most part in good light and I think it takes actually
06:04some really good shots.
06:06But anything out of good lighting, it can get a little bit grainy and stuff like that.
06:12But so far, just me looking at the shots, I actually really think it still takes some
06:17pretty great photos.
06:19Now again, this is one of those old flagships with really good battery life.
06:22It's got a 4500mAh battery and 25W wired charging.
06:27You also have the wireless and reverse wireless charging on board and this is a phone that
06:31easily can last all day for me.
06:35So no issues with battery life.
06:37This is a really good phone.
06:38I think one of the best in the S10 series.
06:40I know a lot of people, you might not like the SD card support being gone.
06:44But like I said, it's a big phone, a bigger display and yeah, I do really like the display
06:51on here.
06:52And overall, Snapdragon 855 is still really, really nice.
06:56It's really cheap as well too.
06:57You can get these $200 and below.
07:01It's a very interesting phone that Samsung put out.
07:04So yeah, what do you guys think?
07:05Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
