00:00what's up guys today i wanted to just take a revisit on one of my favorite older flagship
00:04phones the galaxy s10e just a very awesome phone and i think this is very unique phones one of
00:14samsung's you know last you know real compact smartphones now their s23 is 6.1 inches this is a
00:245.8 inch phone and it's definitely way easier uh to hold like it's way easier to one hand for
00:33anybody with smaller hands and the phone is extremely cheap these days you can find one for
00:38you know 150 bucks super super cheap uh these days and even if you don't use it as a main phone
00:45you can always use it as a backup phone or something like that i just always like having
00:50this phone if i travel i try to take like a big phone and a small phone uh this is one of my
00:55favorites to take and um yeah it's got his last major os update with the android 12 it was getting
01:02security patches as well too uh but i think it just recently stopped now samsung what's funny
01:09what's interesting about that is the note 9 actually got a security patch not too long ago
01:14i think in europe but um you know it's just like i think if it's a critical security patch samsung
01:20will push another one to it but um again like it's it's not really getting updates anymore
01:26um so that's one thing about it but everything still works on the phone it's still perfectly
01:31usable phone here and um i still absolutely love this phone like i said if i go somewhere i'll
01:36take it with me as like a backup phone um so like i said i absolutely love the display on here
01:42it's a 5.8 display like i said anybody who has smaller hands uh this is just a very easy phone
01:48to hold considering that the average phone somewhere around 6.5 to 6.8 inches so phones
01:55are very big these days and it's kind of unique in its own right i think like if you wanted a more
02:01modern compact phone i would go for something like the asus zenfone 9 i have a ton of videos
02:06on that i actually have a comparison with those two and um yeah so if you're looking for a compact
02:12phone i look at the asus zenfone 9 now this phone actually does have a lot going for it as far as a
02:18flagship phone like i said beautiful 1080p dynamic amoled display pretty high ppi on here 438 so the
02:25screen still looks very sharp very vibrant uh colors on here you got the punch hole on the side
02:31which honestly makes for some very cool wallpapers and um yeah like i said very
02:36easy to hold feels extremely comfortable it's a full glass and metal phone as well too i think
02:42samsung did a really good job with the s10 series design in general i think it still looks great
02:46even today and um what's cool about this phone is it's still got the headphone jack and it's still
02:53got the sd card support so as we know samsung started to take stuff out um you know after the
02:58s10 series and uh you know they started to take away the headphone jack and then they started to
03:03take away sd card support pretty much following apple's lead to basically you know get more money
03:08out of you making you buy higher configurations as far as storage and sort of making you sort of
03:14forcing you into the wireless headphone space um so yeah it's sort of a very interesting turning
03:21point in just the smartphone market in general here uh but going back to uh the s10e like i said
03:28they don't make a lot of compact phones these days and one of the reasons why they don't make
03:32a lot of compact phones these days uh was because of battery life so you know if you know this phone
03:39battery life wise you can get about four hours 30 minutes of screen on time out of it um which is
03:45not a lie it's a phone that you definitely would have to charge or bring like a battery case with
03:50you or something like that um so that's one of the things but recently like i said the asus zenfone 9
03:57and honestly uh the s23 series if you if that's you know not too big for you um those phones are
04:05great because the battery issue has been solved pretty much with smaller phones the s23 the
04:11zenfone 9 has excellent battery life uh for you know smaller devices now what's pretty interesting
04:17about the s10e is it's still extremely powerful still uh in 2023 if you get the snapdragon version
04:24it makes for a pretty nice compact little gaming phone that you can get you know fairly cheap it's
04:30got the snapdragon 855 uh on here and like i said it's pretty blazing fast i did a full gaming test
04:36uh with this phone and i was actually pretty impressed uh with the overall performance on here
04:41now this phone can get a little bit warm um but i've never had to actually crash or like do any
04:48serious frame drops which i thought was pretty impressive for a smaller phone but i know if you
04:53have the xenos model and you might run into some performance problems for sure uh but the processor
04:58on here is actually still uh very impressive now here's something that samsung did that i thought
05:04was pretty interesting they didn't put a in-display fingerprint sensor on this phone they put a
05:09physical one on here and i absolutely love this method it feels extremely natural just when you
05:15like pick pick a phone up and then you unlock it it just feels more natural uh this way instead of
05:21like the in-display one now the in-display one it is very cool it looks futuristic but this feels
05:27like when you unlock a phone like this it's almost like you don't really think about unlocking the
05:31phone i feel like when you use it in display when you think about unlocking it uh so it just feels
05:36very natural to me i absolutely love that they did this it's funny because they didn't do it on any
05:40other uh uh flagships like this method um so i really like that um also the speakers on here are
05:48really really good for such a small phone
05:51so
06:11so you can hear the top speaker here has really great quality it's just very crisp and clear
06:17great bass and again for such a small phone here what's also very interesting about this phone is
06:23that it still has all the same flagship features pretty much that you would find in the s23 ultra
06:28reverse wireless charging also has samsung desktop support secure folders uh nfc w at most basically
06:35everything is on here that you would find in the latest flagship so it's just not running you know
06:40the android 13. now i think the cameras on the s10e still look really good uh for a phone that
06:46came out in 2019 um the only thing i could say about this phone like with almost all other
06:52flagship phones it's not the outdoor photos that that look like they've aged because the outdoor
06:57photos in good lighting uh still look amazing they still look awesome i did a ton of side by
07:02side comparisons with this phone uh with the newer phones uh the issue with the older phones is the um
07:11in the indoor sort of or not indoor but low light settings right anything that's sort of low light
07:17you can see the age with the phone um it starts to look a little soft look a little grainy
07:23and that's basically you know where these phones sort of you know haven't aged that well but other
07:29than that any sort of outdoor you know decent lighting this phone will still take some phenomenal
07:35photos and i think it's pretty impressive you guys can see from the shots here great dynamic range
07:40great image processing still great punchy colors it's got dual camera setup 12 megapixel standard
07:4516 megapixel ultra wide using 4k 60 actually on the front and back uh which is pretty impressive
07:51so i think the cameras are still pretty good um again it just doesn't have that great low light
07:56photography all right so basically that is pretty much it i think the s10e this is a fantastic phone
08:04i kind of wish samsung would make a you know a smaller phone like this again i think it would
08:08be pretty cool um but like i said if you do want something smaller you know you can go with asus
08:14zenfone uh nine it's six point it's 5.9 inches um or if you can stomach you know s23 i did that
08:23comparison you guys can check that out it's not that much bigger um but you know it might be too
08:28big for you but that's also another option so yeah so definitely uh check those out and i'll
