00:00Alright guys, we are back with another comparison, today we got the S10 Plus versus the iPhone
00:0714 Pro here.
00:09So I had quite a few people, S10 Plus, thinking about upgrading, whether you're thinking about
00:14switching to iPhone, this should be helpful.
00:17There are going to be some downgrades if you're going to switch to, you know, get a new iPhone
00:22from the S10 Plus.
00:24So definitely take that into consideration, but there are some nice upgrades as well too.
00:28So let's go ahead and get started here.
00:31Let's go ahead and talk about the build quality on both of these phones.
00:35You still have really nice top-notch build quality on both of these phones.
00:38You'll definitely notice that the 14 Pro is much heavier, has its matte finish, it's really
00:43nice.
00:44It's more boxy than the S10 as well.
00:48And both of them have premium material, glass and metal.
00:51And I really do like them, but here's one of the big differences with the hardware.
00:55So as you can see, not only is the S10 Plus taller, but it actually houses a headphone
01:01jack, which is going to be the most noticeable thing.
01:03And also, the S10 Plus does have SD card support, so that's going to be like your two major
01:08big hardware differences there.
01:11Also, both these phones do have IP68 dust and water resistant as well too, so that's
01:17really nice.
01:18Alright, let's talk about the displays on both of these phones.
01:21So the S10 Plus does have a really nice 6.4 inch display.
01:26It is a 1440p display, it's a Dynamic AMOLED, HDR10+, 522 for the PPI.
01:32So overall, it is a higher resolution display, and it is also overall just a bigger display,
01:40right?
01:41But my thing is that it's 1440p and it has a higher PPI as well, it does have a slight
01:46curve to it as well too, if you can tell.
01:48The iPhone does have a very nice display also, it's a 120Hz XDR OLED display, it gets
01:54up to 2000 nits peak brightness, one of the brightest displays actually that you can get
01:58on any phone right now.
02:00It's 6.1 inches and then it's 1179 by 2556, 460 for the PPI.
02:06So it's also a very high resolution display, but it's not a 1440p display, so the S10 Plus
02:12does beat it in terms of resolution, but where the S10 Plus does lack is it's a 60Hz panel,
02:18the iPhone is 120Hz, so it is going to feel a little bit smoother as well.
02:23And then games that are compatible with like the 90 frames, you'll be able to tell that
02:27as well too, so those are kind of the upgrades.
02:30So basically the iPhone, brighter display and then also 120Hz is really the key there,
02:37and the S10 Plus, it actually has just a higher resolution display and you're able to look
02:40at content in 2K, which is really nice.
02:45As far as the cutouts go, you can see the S10 has the cutout to the right, kind of looks
02:53the same, but the iPhone's is still bigger than the S10 Plus as well too, but honestly
02:57the cutout, once you get used to it, it's not really a big deal.
03:01Now let's go ahead and talk about the specs a little bit more here, so the S10 Plus does
03:06have the Snapdragon 855 chipset on here, and the iPhone does have the Apple A16 chipset
03:14on here.
03:15So both of these phones are actually very fast, obviously the iPhone is going to come
03:18out on top when it comes to benchmarks and stuff like that.
03:22We do have on the S10, like I said, micro SD card support, 128GB of internal storage
03:28and 8GB of RAM.
03:29The iPhone does have 128GB and 6GB of RAM as well there.
03:35As far as performance, I think we won't see a big difference with just casual applications,
03:42like I said, both of these phones are super fast.
03:45You can see the S10 Plus is really fast, it's pretty much on par with the iPhone when it
03:51comes to just launching your casual applications for sure there.
03:56You'll probably notice more of a difference when it comes to games and stuff like that,
04:00but honestly people get surprised that the 855 chip still is able to keep up with even
04:08the latest and greatest here.
04:11So let's go ahead and do Subway Surf.
04:14Now this is where you'll probably see a little bit more of a difference there, as you can
04:17see the iPhone just extremely quick got in there, but in the real world you probably
04:22won't notice that little second difference there.
04:27Also gaming performance guys, gaming performance is super solid on the S10 Plus as well too,
04:33so I would say for the casual user you won't really notice a difference when it comes to
04:37overall general performance, especially when it comes to playing games like PUBG and stuff
04:43like that.
04:44Until they bring the 90 frames option, you can see the iPhone just super quick to get
04:48into games.
04:49For casual games, Subway Surf, stuff like that, even PUBG, both of these phones actually
04:54for right now play, and I got an update on the S10, both of these phones actually right
05:00now play at HDR Extreme, so they actually play at the exact same settings guys, which
05:07a lot of people are surprised by.
05:10So definitely if you're considering upgrading, I would say you won't really notice that
05:15difference unless you actually play a ton of games, like games like Genshin and stuff
05:18like that.
05:19The iPhone, you will notice that, it'll be able to be more consistent with frame rates
05:25and stuff like that, but as far as your general performance, both of these phones are actually
05:29playing at HDR Extreme here.
05:33And just to show you the settings on the S10 Plus here, you can see the same settings
05:37HDR Extreme, and you can see S10 Plus runs this phone like a breeze, it's extremely fast.
05:43So like I said, pretty much the same for the casual gamer.
05:46If you're a more hardcore gamer, then yes, you will notice that difference in games like
05:50Genshin and stuff like that with the iPhone for sure.
05:53Alright, both of these phones have stereo speakers, let's go ahead and hear which one
05:56sounds the best.
06:03Yeah, iPhone definitely the stronger speaker here, much, much heavier bass here.
06:31Yeah, I would say that they're both almost the same in terms of volume, it's just the
06:38iPhone just definitely has more depth, it has a fuller sound to it.
06:48Yeah, for sure, both very good speakers, I definitely give the iPhone the slight edge
06:53there.
06:54Alright, so let's talk about the biometrics, so the S10 Plus actually has two methods of
06:58getting into the device, so you have your in-display fingerprint sensor, which is very
07:03fast and works really well, but they also give you the option to do face unlock as well
07:08too on the S10 Plus, which is something that I really like.
07:12As opposed to the iPhone, you only get the face ID, yes, it is more secure, but like
07:16I said, we have two options on the S10 Plus, which is something I really appreciate as
07:21well too.
07:22Let's go ahead and talk about the cameras, guys.
07:26So, with the S10 Plus, you do have a triple camera setup, it is a 12 megapixel standard,
07:31a 12 megapixel telephoto, that's 2x optical zoom, and then a 16 megapixel ultrawide.
07:37It's using 4K60 on the front and back, and then you have a 10 megapixel selfie cam, and
07:42then an 8 megapixel depth sensor.
07:44The iPhone does have a slightly higher res sensor, it is a 48 megapixel standard cam,
07:5012 megapixel telephoto, that's 3x optical, and then a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
07:55It does have a macro mode, and then it shoots in 4K60 on the front and back also with a
07:5912 megapixel selfie cam.
08:01So check out these side-by-side stills and let me know, do you guys see a big difference
08:06in terms of quality here?
08:55Alright guys, here's the video on the 14 Pro, it's a 2x, 3x, and then we have our ultrawide
09:07right here.
09:08Let me know what you guys think.
09:13Alright, so let's go ahead and talk about battery life on these two phones.
09:38You will notice better battery life, especially if you've had your S10 Plus for a long time.
09:44But my S10 Plus, I can actually squeeze around 6 hours of screen on time out of this, which
09:49is pretty good, I would say.
09:51Now this device probably had not been used so much, I got it in pretty good condition.
09:57But it has a 4100 milliamp battery, 15 watt charging, wireless charging, with reverse
10:02wireless charging, which is something that the iPhone does lack.
10:06Now the iPhone has a 3200 milliamp battery, it does charge slightly faster, and then you
10:10also have wireless charging with the MagSafe charging, but this phone does not have any
10:14type of reverse wireless charging as well too.
10:18So I would say the battery life experience, you will notice a slight bump up in battery
10:22life if you do go ahead and make that switch.
10:25So overall, I think these are two really good phones, like I said, with the S10 Plus you
10:30have a lot, especially with the software that a lot of people don't mention as far as Samsung
10:34desktop support, it's really awesome, secure folders, stuff like that.
10:37The headphone jack, also SD card support, those are things you're going to kind of be
10:42giving up.
10:43The 1440p display as well too.
10:46With the iPhone, you're getting a lot here as well too, obviously it's newer, so you're
10:51going to have better processor, newer cameras, more cameras, also you will get longer software
10:58support of course too, so those are all things to definitely consider there.
11:02So be sure to let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
