00:00What's up guys, today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite pickups from last year
00:04is the Galaxy S22.
00:06This has been such an awesome phone, and these are typically going for $400 for the unlocked
00:11version, and these are prices for the USA, guys.
00:14And $334, the same version I have, the T-Mobile version, the locked T-Mobile version, and
00:21this going for $334, and you can pick it up in different colors as well, too.
00:25I think this is an absolutely phenomenal deal, guys.
00:28I'm really impressed with this phone.
00:31Like I said, this is still one of my favorite pickups now that it's around $300 for this
00:36T-Mobile version.
00:37And again, you can spend that extra $100 if you see yourself in the future maybe switching
00:41carriers or stuff like that, but T-Mobile does a pretty good job of pushing out updates
00:45really fast.
00:46That's why I got this version, and you can just save the extra $100.
00:51But very, very impressive, and I know you guys are like, yo, what's up with the wallpaper?
00:55If you want the wallpaper, I got it from Live Loop, and I'm going to do a video sort
00:59of rounding up my favorite live wallpaper apps, but this wallpaper is crazy.
01:04This is pretty hard.
01:05I absolutely love this thing.
01:06They have a lot of good wallpapers, live wallpapers, so check that application out in the Play
01:10Store.
01:12So let's go ahead and talk about this phone.
01:14One of the things I absolutely love about this phone is the build quality.
01:17So I absolutely love the design of this phone, how it feels in the hand, the size of it as
01:22well, too.
01:23It looks really nice.
01:24It's got the matte finish, so you don't really see a lot of fingerprints and stuff like that
01:28with this device.
01:29With the new S23 Ultra coming out, Samsung got rid of this cutout, which I like the cutout,
01:34but I also really like what they did with the new version as well, too.
01:38So I like both designs.
01:40This still looks really nice, though, and it just feels really solid in the hand.
01:45Fits well.
01:46It's not too boxy to where it's kind of uncomfortable to hold, and I think for people with smaller
01:51hands, I think it's still pretty easy to hold as well, too, even though it's somewhat
01:55of a, you know, I don't think it's a big phone at 6.1 inches.
01:58I think it's, you know, for people with small hands, it should be somewhat comfortable.
02:03And then also you have IP68 dust and water resistant as well, too, on here.
02:07All right, next I want to talk about the display on here.
02:10It's my next favorite thing about this phone.
02:11It has very slim bezels, so it gives the phone like a super nice premium look to it, as you
02:17guys can see, punch hole up top, and just a beautiful, you know, Samsung display here.
02:24Super vibrant.
02:25It's a 6.1 inch display.
02:26It's a dynamic AMOLED display, and it is HDR10 plus at 120 hertz.
02:31And then you also have a 1080p resolution with 425 for the PPI.
02:37And it's a beautiful display.
02:38It gets pretty bright, too, outdoors at 1300 nits peak brightness, so it's pretty easy
02:42to see outdoors.
02:45And I absolutely love the display.
02:46Slim bezels on here, beautiful colors, and the resolution, 1080p, pretty high PPI.
02:52It looks pretty good on this size display, so I have zero issues with display quality.
02:58And also, it does not have a curve like the S22 Ultra.
03:02It's a completely flat display, which a lot of people, you know, will like.
03:07So you know, it's easier to put screen protectors on flat displays.
03:12But overall, the display is absolutely beautiful in here.
03:14I think it's definitely one of my favorite things.
03:17So I've been hearing a lot of, or seeing a lot of comments, now should I upgrade my S10e
03:24to the S22?
03:26And I'll do that comparison for you guys, but I think for $300, yes, go ahead and make
03:30the move.
03:31I think it's a really good upgrade.
03:32Yes, it's going to be a little bit bigger at 6.1 inches, but I think well worth it for
03:36all of the upgrades that you get with this phone.
03:39And let's go ahead and talk about the software experience.
03:41So the S22 is going to have a very long lifespan.
03:44It gets four years of major OS updates, and then I think around five years of security
03:50patches.
03:51So extremely long lifespan with this phone.
03:52So if you decide to buy this phone, just know it has a very long lifespan, so you won't
03:57really have to upgrade for a very long time.
04:00And you still have all of your same flagship features in here.
04:03Samsung desktop support, secure folders, wireless power sharing is on here as well too.
04:08So basically everything that you would find in the Ultra is still pretty much on here
04:12besides the S Pen functionality and stuff like that.
04:15So yeah, so performance wise, it's a very fast phone.
04:19We are running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor here.
04:22So we get a single core of 1089 and then 3117 for the multi-core score.
04:29And the processor runs really great.
04:32You have 128 gigs of internal storage, 8 gigs of RAM on the base model.
04:37The phone, it does good with gaming.
04:39So the gaming, and this is what any 8 Gen 1 chip I've noticed, long periods of gaming,
04:43the phone does kind of get a little hot, it does kind of just feel really kind of hot
04:47to the hand.
04:48Now I've never had this phone crash on me or start lagging in games, but you'll definitely,
04:52if you're a couple hours into gaming, I say about maybe like two hours into gaming, you'll
04:56definitely notice like the phone starts to get a little bit uncomfortable for long periods
05:01of gaming.
05:02Now, most of you guys will have a case on, so you probably will never notice that, but
05:06definitely these phones can get a little bit hot.
05:09And that's really with any Snapdragon 8 Gen phone that I've tested.
05:12I was able to play PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile, you know, at the highest settings and it ran
05:18perfectly fine.
05:20Also just bouncing in and applications, animations are all super smooth.
05:25It's just a very fast phone, so you can expect top-notch performance.
05:28Like I said, for $300, this is going to blow any mid-ranger out of the water when it comes
05:33to the processor and overall speed and smoothness.
05:36Just the overall experience of the phone is going to be a flagship experience.
05:40So like a Galaxy A53 5G is around the same price, $300, $400, it makes more sense to
05:47get this phone because it's just overall better in every category, right?
05:51As far as your speakers on here, the speakers actually sound pretty good.
05:55We have stereo speakers on here.
05:57So, speaker quality, you get pretty good bass on this phone.
06:27And you also, the top speaker also does a really good job with putting out a pretty
06:33loud and good enough sound if you block this bottom speaker.
06:36So I think the speaker quality is pretty good.
06:39And also as far as the under-the-display fingerprint sensor, that works very fast as you would
06:44expect.
06:45You can also take advantage of the face unlock as well too.
06:48Now the real actual highlight with the S22 is actually the cameras on here.
06:54So you're getting pretty much a flagship experience camera still on this device.
06:59It can go toe-to-toe with the best phones on the market pretty much.
07:03And it's got 50 megapixel standard so you get very high resolution shots, 10 megapixel
07:08telephoto lens that does 3x optical zoom, a 12 megapixel ultra-wide, it can shoot in
07:148K24, and then you also have a 10 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60.
07:18The shots on here are absolutely beautiful.
07:21I even compared this to the iPhone 14 Pro if you guys want to check out that comparison.
07:25Compared it to the S22 Ultra, just a ton of phones.
07:30And it does a phenomenal job with image quality.
07:32You get great dynamic range, the ultra-wide, very consistent to the main lens.
07:38Beautiful colors, very vibrant, you know, sort of classic Samsung image processing.
07:42I think the pictures speak for themselves.
07:44It's overall beautiful shots.
07:46Pretty much a good selfie cam on here.
07:48It does pretty good with skin tones.
07:51And overall, low-light performance is still pretty good on this phone.
07:55Just an overall, just a great phone when it comes to taking pictures.
07:59I can't see anybody complaining about taking pictures on this thing.
08:02It just does a fantastic job with anything you throw at it, it's going to do a great
08:07job.
08:08And it's pretty much the same for video.
08:09It does a very good job with video as well too.
08:11And remember, you're not even paying the full price if you go ahead and pick this up, you
08:14know, refurbish.
08:16You know, you're just getting a fantastic camera at this price point.
08:19It's pretty impressive.
08:20All right, so lastly, I want to discuss battery life.
08:23So even with the Android 13 update, I haven't seen too much improvements from battery life
08:29when I first got this phone.
08:31So it does have a 3,700 milliamp battery, 25-watt charging, which I wish the charging
08:35speeds were a little bit faster.
08:38Not that it charges super slow, it's just, you know, most phones, they have faster charging
08:42speeds.
08:43I would recommend getting a Samsung, at least put like 45 watts or something in this phone.
08:47But it charges decently fast, at least bump it up to 30 watts.
08:53But yeah, battery life on here, it's okay.
08:57It's definitely, it's almost an all-day phone, almost.
09:01So I have this phone in the five-hour to five-hour and 30-minute range, depending on how, you
09:07know, aggressive you're using it.
09:10If you're a power user, you're definitely probably getting around five, five hours and
09:1330 minutes.
09:14So battery life, because the battery is kind of small, you know, it does an okay job.
09:19If you are a lighter user, you can probably get through a day, but you're going to be
09:23like, you know, you're going to have to charge this thing.
09:27So battery life is not bad, but it's definitely not the best that I've seen.
09:31And you also have wireless charging and reverse wireless charging as well.
09:35So as I said, it's a very feature-packed phone, beautiful design, top-notch cameras
09:41on this phone, super, super fast when it comes to gaming.
09:45Yeah, and you can keep this phone for a very long time.
