00:00What's up guys, so we've been doing these series.
00:02We did the S21 series, the S22 series,
00:05now we're gonna do the S23 series.
00:08Here we have the S23, the S23 FE, the S23 Plus,
00:12and the S23 Ultra.
00:14These are fantastic phones to buy.
00:16I still think these are some of the best phones
00:18that you can buy just in general for 2024
00:22because you're getting a lot of the benefits
00:24from the S24 series, but you're getting them
00:27at a much cheaper price as well too,
00:30which is something that I really like.
00:31So there's a lot to like about the S23 series,
00:35and Samsung did a bunch of, you know,
00:37few things like the Galaxy AI,
00:39bringing it to the S23 series,
00:42and absolutely love this series.
00:44So let's go ahead and first check out the price
00:46and see where we're at.
00:48All right, so let's talk about the price.
00:50Now the S23 Ultra is gonna cost you around 669
00:55in the usually refurbished marketplace,
00:56and S23 Plus around 474,
00:59which I honestly think out of the whole series,
01:02I think the S23 Plus would probably be the best device
01:06if you don't need an S Pen.
01:08And then you also have the S23 FE,
01:10which a lot of people dislike.
01:12It's 329, it's really not a bad deal at all.
01:16And you also have the standard S23,
01:18you can find this for around 380 bucks as well too.
01:22So let's talk about the displays real quick here.
01:25So obviously with the S23 being the smallest display here,
01:29and it's going to be the phone
01:31that is gonna be the easiest to hold as well too.
01:33So anybody looking for something
01:35a little bit more comfortable
01:36that you can kind of easily one hand,
01:38you would definitely pick up this device.
01:40They all pretty much have the same,
01:42they all, the screens all pretty much look the same
01:44for the most part.
01:45Very vibrant, colorful, you know, dynamic AMOLED displays,
01:49HDR 10 Plus, 120 Hertz on all of these phones.
01:52And the biggest thing that'll stand out here
01:55is that you'll see the S23 FE has,
01:57kind of has bigger bezels.
02:00You know, it does make it look a little bit cheaper
02:02compared to these devices, but again, a very minor thing.
02:05And then the only thing with the S23 FE
02:08is that this phone does have
02:09a lower max brightness as well too.
02:12But besides that, all of these phones are 1080p resolution,
02:17but the S23 Ultra is essentially 1440p here.
02:23So that'll be the big difference with displays.
02:25Now, all of these have flat displays
02:28except for the S23 Ultra.
02:30It does have a curved panel,
02:31but it is a very minor curve to it.
02:34It's not an aggressive curve,
02:35which is something that I think is really cool as well.
02:39And yeah, the displays look fantastic
02:41on all of these phones.
02:43Really, really nice looking panels for the most part.
02:47So I think you'd be happy with any of these phones.
02:49So I would say if you really don't like the curved panel,
02:53right, you can, the S23 Plus,
02:55you could spend less and get a just as good of a display.
02:59It's just not curved
03:00and it's not gonna be as boxy as well too.
03:03But yeah, so fantastic displays on all of these phones.
03:08Great thing about this year with the S23 series
03:11is that all of these phones
03:12have the Galaxy AI features on them.
03:16So you can experience all of the Galaxy AI features
03:18that you will find on the S24 series
03:22was brought down to the S23 series.
03:26So that's something that's really exciting.
03:27So if you do like the sound of the AI stuff,
03:33everything is here.
03:33So I think you'd be really happy with that software-wise.
03:36So these phones will get four years of major OS updates
03:41and they'll get security patches after.
03:43So you can use these phones for quite a bit of time
03:47and you won't have any issues with that
03:50as far as software-wise.
03:51So again, very happy with
03:54just how smooth these phones are running.
03:56One of the best things about the S23 series
03:59is the Snapdragon 8Gen 2 processor.
04:02But with the S23 FE,
04:05we actually have the Snapdragon 8Gen 1 processor,
04:09which is a big deal if you're a gamer.
04:12If you're not a gamer,
04:13this is not really a big deal at all.
04:15But I'm gonna show you why this is a big deal.
04:17It is a big, it's a pretty big deal in performance jump.
04:20And then also the S23 FE is not as well optimized
04:23as the S23 flagship devices.
04:28So the issue with this 8Gen 1 processor
04:31is that if you are a gamer
04:32and you're gonna be gaming for a couple hours,
04:36this will heat up much more than the 8Gen 2 pretty much.
04:41I haven't gotten it to the point
04:43where I've had it crash on me or anything like that.
04:45But as you can see, if you run a wildlife test,
04:47just the one-minute test, we went from 33 to 38.
04:51And then we also, on the S23, went from 41 to 44.
04:56So this is gonna heat up
04:58and you can only imagine that
04:59that was on your one-minute test.
05:00So it's just not as efficient
05:03and that will also eat into the battery life as well too.
05:06But when it comes to speed,
05:08um, basically the 8Gen 1 is still really fast.
05:12It's not like it's really a slow phone at all.
05:15It's very smooth animation-wise.
05:17So that's why I said, this only matters if you are a gamer.
05:21So like I was saying earlier, so with the S23 FE,
05:25you can see our best settings are going to be HDR Extreme.
05:29Now with the rest of the S23 series,
05:33we can actually play at 120 frames.
05:36So like I said, if you're a serious gamer,
05:38you definitely are gonna wanna save that extra money
05:41and put it towards getting an S23 Plus or Ultra
05:45or just the standard S23
05:47because you will get much better frame rates
05:49if you are competitive gaming.
05:51If you're not competitive gaming,
05:53the S23 FE does a fantastic job,
05:56like I said, at just casual gaming.
05:58You come in here for a match or two
06:00and you're not really, you know,
06:01you're not really like a gamer gamer like that, right?
06:04But if you are, again,
06:06you definitely gonna appreciate
06:08having those higher frame rates
06:09and also having the phones not heat up as much.
06:14Now I do wanna talk about hardware here.
06:16So obviously the S23 Ultra is gonna be a little bit boxier.
06:22It's not gonna be as comfortable as the rest of the phones,
06:26but with the S23 Ultra, you get the S Pen
06:29and you have to kind of decide
06:31if you're somebody who, you know, cares about the S Pen.
06:33There's a lot of features that Samsung has thrown in here
06:38to make the S Pen, you know, just a really cool device
06:41when it comes to just using it
06:42as navigating digital artwork.
06:44Samsung also has a lot of stuff in here.
06:46This also is Bluetooth where if you're a content creator
06:50or something like that, you can film from a distance,
06:52you know, by yourself on a tripod
06:54and just take photos with a pen
06:58and you'll be perfectly fine.
07:01So that's one thing that I like,
07:02but if you're looking for,
07:04I would say the most comfortable phone
07:06that's gonna be, you know, big,
07:07if you want a bigger screen,
07:09then you would get the S23 Plus here.
07:12It's, you know, rounded on the edges.
07:14It just feels really comfortable.
07:16All phones are IP68 dust and water resistant.
07:19They all have wireless charging
07:20and reverse wireless charging as well too.
07:22And yeah, they all still look basically identical
07:26to the S24 series.
07:27So overall, beautiful design on these phones.
07:31So let's go ahead and check out the speakers at max volume.

08:26So what I found interesting here is that the S23 Ultra
08:29does have a louder speaker than the S23 Plus.
08:33It's just a little bit louder,
08:35but I thought that was interesting.
08:36I thought they would have the same, you know,
08:38kind of speaker, but there is a difference there.
08:42The S23 has the, I guess, the quieter speaker.
08:46I wouldn't call it like,
08:46it's not like it's super, super low.

08:54Yeah, it just doesn't have as much bass as the S23 FE.

09:03Yeah, but I would say because the,
09:05it's like the quality of the S23 FE speakers
09:08are not the same.
09:10Even though it's loud,
09:11it sounds slightly different from the S23 and Plus
09:14and the Ultra when it comes to like hearing the hi-hats.
09:19But they all sound great.
09:22I would say the S23 Ultra does have
09:24the best sounding speaker here.
09:27Yeah, so overall, not a massive difference.
09:30They all have excellent speakers,
09:31but I thought that was pretty interesting.
09:35So there is one thing to note
09:36if you do end up buying a S23 FE,
09:40is that it does not have the same fingerprint sensor
09:42as the rest of these phones.
09:43This phone does have the optical fingerprint sensor.
09:48So basically, it's just a little bit slower.
09:50It's not as fast as the ultrasonic ones.
09:56The ultrasonic ones you can kind of tap
09:59and they just feel a little bit faster.
10:03But like I said, it's not like a big deal.
10:06So I definitely want to get into the camera quality.
10:09The good thing about buying an S23 series phone in 2024
10:12is that the camera quality is pretty much
10:16almost identical to the S24 series.
10:21Now you will notice a difference with the S23 FE.
10:26The camera is not going to be as good as the S23 Plus
10:29and the Ultra, but it's a very good camera
10:32for the most part.
10:33I did not really have a problem with it.
10:35If you want to see how it kind of looks,
10:37I just did a comparison with the S23.
10:40So it's not too off actually in terms of quality,
10:43but you will notice in some shots that,
10:46especially with that telephoto lens,
10:47that the S23 FE is not as good.
10:51And I thought the Ultra Wide wasn't as good,
10:54but the main sensor on here is really good.
10:56Video is solid on here as well too.
10:59It's an absolutely fantastic phone, but yes,
11:01the other models will take slightly better photos.
11:04So if you're extremely interested in image quality,
11:08I would pay the extra money.
11:09Now I would say that if you don't take
11:12a lot of Zoom photography shots,
11:14you can pretty much get away with just buying a S23 Plus
11:19or just a regular S23.
11:21If you don't take a lot of Zoom shots,
11:23let's say you go out to a lot of events
11:25where you would need it,
11:27the 10x, the 30x looks excellent on the S23 Ultra.
11:31You have the 100x Zoom,
11:33which the other phones do not have.
11:36They can only go up to 30x.
11:38So again, with the S23 Ultra,
11:40if you don't take kind of like Zoom shots,
11:44then I really wouldn't spend that extra money to get it.
11:46I think you'd be perfectly fine with the other phones.
11:49All right guys, lastly, I want to touch on battery life.
11:52So battery life is excellent on all of these phones.
11:55So that's why I said this is one of my favorite series
11:58because the Snapdragon 8Gen 2 does a fantastic job.
12:01The only thing I wish with these phones
12:03is that they charged a little bit faster.
12:05I think like the max charging speeds
12:07on the S23 Ultra is like 45 watts.
12:10But besides that, they all again have wireless,
12:12reverse wireless charging.
12:14And you just get great screen on time with these phones.
12:17The S23 Plus I think does an amazing job.
12:20I feel like I get better battery life on the S23 Plus here,
12:24but even the S23, the smaller one, the FE,
12:27these do a fantastic job with battery life guys.
12:30So absolutely, I love the battery life on these phones.
12:35I think Samsung, this was the first year
12:37where I used the Samsung flagship
12:39when these phones first came out,
12:41where I was impressed with the battery life.
12:42You really notice the difference in screen on time.
12:46So that is pretty much it.
