00:00All right, so first off, let's go over the hardware here.
00:03So two very beautiful flagship phones
00:05and they just look awesome in these white colors this year.
00:10Just really awesome.
00:11So the Pixel, as you can see,
00:13they have kind of different camera designs here.
00:17Pixel has a sort of trademark bar design.
00:20And let me know down below which camera design
00:22or which design in general do you guys like more here.
00:26So the S23 Ultra has a matte finish.
00:29The Pixel does have a glossy finish.
00:31Now again, with this color,
00:32you can't really see fingerprints,
00:33but I'm sure with like a black color,
00:35you'd be able to see fingerprints a lot.
00:38And I just think the camera designs
00:40are just beautiful on both of these phones.
00:42I like what Pixel did this year,
00:44making the camera go all the way around to the sides.
00:47And now this is metal as well too.
00:50And it just looks really, really nice.
00:52The cameras are cut out.
00:54And the S23 Ultra, beautiful design.
00:57Like I said, reminds me of the LG Velvet.
01:00And you can see just, you know,
01:01you got big cameras on both of these phones here.
01:05And I think they just look beautiful.
01:07Now the Pixel is definitely way easier to hold.
01:11It's not as sharp and boxy as the S23 Ultra.
01:14So that's one thing that you will notice.
01:17They're both, again, glass and metal devices.
01:19They're both IP68, dust and water resistant as well.
01:23So one of the big hardware differences
01:26with both of these phones is that
01:28the S23 Ultra has an S-Pen.
01:30Now again, I'm not sure.
01:32It really comes down to you
01:33whether you'll use the S-Pen or not.
01:36But basically, if you're somebody
01:38that likes to draw on your phone,
01:42then this is extremely accurate stylus.
01:45Not only that, but Samsung throws in
01:47a ton of software features as well too.
01:49And also, I've seen people do digital artwork
01:52on this as well too.
01:54I like to use it for writing down grocery lists.
01:58And Samsung just throws in a ton of stuff in here.
02:00Or if you just wanna navigate with the pen,
02:03it's great for that as well too.
02:05So it really depends on if you're gonna use the stylus
02:09or not, if it's useful.
02:11If you don't see yourself using it,
02:12then it's irrelevant to the comparison then.
02:15But the stylus is definitely handy.
02:18Like I said, if you're in a digital artwork
02:20or if you just like just to use the stylus
02:23for writing stuff down.
02:25And also, there's a really cool thing
02:26that if you're a content creator,
02:29like a TikTok person or you're doing YouTube Shorts,
02:32being able to use the stylus to record video
02:35from a distance or to take a picture from a distance.
02:39So if you just hit the button.
02:42So you can see, I'll show you guys.
02:46Just snap the photo.
02:47And you can do that with video as well too.
02:49So it's very handy for that.
02:51So like I said, some people say,
02:52Matt, the stylus is useless.
02:54I think it does have its place
02:55if you are interested in using it.
02:58Let's talk about the screens on both of these phones here.
03:02With the S23 Ultra, it's a 6.8-inch
03:05dynamic AMOLED display, HDR10+,
03:071,750 nits peak brightness, 1440p, 500 for the PPI.
03:14The Pixel has a 6.7-inch display,
03:16so it's slightly a little bit smaller if you can see that.
03:19And then you also have a 1440p resolution,
03:22512 for the PPI, that's LTPO AMOLED, 120 hertz, HDR10+.
03:27This one gets up to 1,500 nits peak brightness.
03:30So at peak brightness, yes, the S23 Ultra
03:33is gonna be slightly brighter in direct sunlight,
03:36but honestly, they're both super bright,
03:37so they just do a fantastic job for brightness.
03:41Also, when it comes to design here,
03:45you can see very slim edges on both of these phones.
03:52The Pixel, okay, so basically they both curve,
03:56but they don't curve super dramatic this year,
03:59if you guys can see that.
04:00So they both have curved screens, but not as dramatic.
04:04Obviously, the S23 Ultra is a little bit more boxier screen,
04:08as you can see here.
04:10And yeah, I just like the screens on both.
04:12They're kind of similar screens, honestly,
04:15when it comes to just the quality,
04:17120 hertz on both of them.
04:19So like I said, pretty much identical
04:21in terms of the screens.
04:22Like I said, not really a big difference here.
04:25They both have the punch hole,
04:27and they both pretty much look the same, guys.
04:29So not really a massive difference here.
04:32Both beautiful screens, honestly.
04:34Next, I wanna go ahead and touch on software,
04:36because this is sort of the, kind of the big thing here
04:38with both of these phones, right?
04:41Pure stock Android.
04:42So this is Android, how Google wants it to look.
04:45And we have Samsung skin, the OneUI 5.1 skin on here.
04:50And they're both extremely nice, you know,
04:54OSs to use, right?
04:56Samsung's OneUI skin, basically,
04:58it has a ton of features in it
05:00that you won't get on stock Android.
05:02And for example, Samsung desktop support,
05:05extremely useful, extremely fun.
05:07And they just throw in a whole bunch of stuff in here.
05:09There's a lot going on in OneUI.
05:11Can't really cover all of it in this video,
05:13but you got secure folders.
05:15Also, in the advanced settings,
05:18if we go down, you just like a ton of stuff
05:22and features that you could play with as well.
05:26So OneUI just has so much stuff,
05:28like the labs is really fun to play with as well.
05:31So just know that there's a ton of features in OneUI
05:34that you could take advantage of.
05:36And we're just talking about,
05:37we're not even talking about, you know,
05:38putting good luck on here and stuff like that.
05:40So there's just a lot you can take advantage of.
05:42Now, Google goes for the opposite.
05:45So with like a Galaxy phone, you'll see double applications.
05:49So we got our Google stuff, Google photos and stuff,
05:51but on Galaxy phones, you'll have, you know,
05:54the browser and you got the Chrome
05:56and then you have Google photos with the gallery on here.
06:00It's like double applications, right?
06:02With the Pixel, it's just the Pixel applications
06:06and everything is sort of centered around Google.
06:09The Google search, basically,
06:12that's what it's centered around.
06:13It's like very Google-y phone, right?
06:15And when updates first come out,
06:17they always hit the Pixel first.
06:19So let's say when Android 14 comes out,
06:23it'll be first on the Pixel.
06:24The betas come out first on the Pixel.
06:26So if you're really pressed for like software,
06:29just know with a Pixel,
06:30you're gonna get the updates the fastest.
06:32One thing I will say is that I still think
06:34the Pixel has one of the smoothest OSs, man.
06:38It's like the smoothest animations, basically.
06:41I don't know what it is,
06:42but it just feels extremely fluid, like the animations.
06:44Don't get me wrong, OneUI is very smooth,
06:47but there's just something about the Pixel.
06:49So I don't know, if you guys have 6 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro,
06:54let me know, what do you guys think
06:55if you've used both OneUI and the stock Android?
07:00It's just very smooth for some reason.
07:02It just feels like just buttery smooth, man.
07:07Also, like I said, there's not a ton of features
07:09with the Pixel, so you have a little stuff in here,
07:12but it's nowhere near in comparison to OneUI
07:15in terms of features and stuff that you can do
07:17with customizations and all that good stuff.
07:20It's very bare minimum stuff.
07:22So like I said, those are sort of like the big differences,
07:25you know, sort of condensed for you guys.
07:27All right, so let's talk about the specs a little bit more.
07:30So the Pixel is running the Google Tensor G2 chip.
07:34It does not have any SD card support,
07:36128 gigs of internal storage, eight gigs of RAM.
07:39This version is the 128, 12 gigs of RAM though.
07:42And then on the Galaxy, you do have
07:46the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy,
07:48and then it's also the base model is 256, eight gigs of RAM.
07:53Like I said, this model is 12 gigs, 12 gigs of RAM.
07:56You can see the big score difference here,
07:59you know, with the two chips both running Android 13.
08:02And yes, the Galaxy is gonna be
08:04the overall more powerful phone.
08:06So if you're like, obviously you're buying a flagship phone,
08:09if you're like a gamer, and you want the best,
08:13you know, gaming experience,
08:15the Galaxy is gonna be much better for that.
08:18Pixel is really just buttery smooth though.
08:22They're both very fast.
08:23So I would say my experience would just,
08:28playing with both phones,
08:30and just launching and stuff like that,
08:33it seems to be pretty much on par with each other.
08:37But like I said, you'll notice that the S23 Ultra
08:41is definitely a hair quicker,
08:43and just getting into video games, applications,
08:46it is gonna be just slightly a little bit quicker,
08:48but I don't think it's anything that is like major.
08:53As you guys can see, they pretty much feel the same.
08:57Like I said, now let's go ahead and launch PUBG here.
09:03And like I said, gaming experience is great on both.
09:06They're both more than capable of playing
09:08all of the latest games.
09:10But like I said, hardcore gamers,
09:12you know, just looking at the benchmarks
09:14and stuff like that,
09:15definitely you have more power to work with
09:17on the S23 Ultra.
09:24Boom, we're in.
09:26And we're in.
09:27So you guys can see, they're pretty much neck and neck
09:30when it comes to loading stuff up.
09:31Now for PUBG, they both pretty much play
09:34at the same exact settings.
09:37Both HDR extreme.
09:39Now both of these phones are actually capable
09:41of playing this game at 90 frames.
09:43It just hasn't been updated or it's not optimized yet.
09:48But they both run very smooth.
09:51And as far as the heat is concerned,
09:52I will say the S23 Ultra is definitely
09:55one of the cooler phones that I think I've ever used.
09:58It's extremely pretty cool.
10:00I haven't had this phone get hot on me really at all.
10:04No matter what I'm doing, this phone pretty efficient here.
10:08But like I said, they both play at HDR extreme.
10:12The Pixel is just as smooth.
10:14This one, maybe they, yeah, no, it's still.
10:18So no 90 frames yet on either of these.
10:21But like I said, they're both very smooth experience
10:23on both of these.
10:24They pretty much feel the same.
10:26But like I said, if you want that extra power,
10:29you'll go with the S23 Ultra for sure.
10:32Alright guys, so S23 Ultra does have improved speakers
10:35this year, but the Pixel 7 Pro speakers
10:37are pretty good as well.
10:38So let's do a speaker test, max volume on both,
10:41start with the Pixel.
11:12Man, they sound almost pretty much identical this year.
11:39The S22 Ultra had a massive gap, but this year they're more on par with each other,
11:47almost identical, just slightly different tones.
11:54Same loudness, very good bass on both, so very impressed with both.
11:58You're going to get an excellent speaker with both of these phones.
12:01Alright, so here's one thing that I think...
12:07So, basically, the Pixel still has an optical fingerprint scanner, right?
12:12And you basically have to apply pressure to it just a little bit.
12:17They definitely improved it this year, but you just have to apply just a little bit of pressure to it.
12:23Like, if I lightly tap it like that, I can't get into it.
12:27But if I just... a little bit more pressure, right?
12:31With the Galaxy fingerprint sensor, you can lightly tap it.
12:36Like, you don't really have to apply pressure to it.
12:40So that's one of the big things I noticed.
12:42I still like this fingerprint sensor more, but Google has definitely improved it.
12:47Like, you just got to apply just a little bit.
12:50So, it definitely has come a long way because with the 6 Pro, you have to apply even more pressure.
12:55So, it's not as bad, but I definitely like the Galaxy's a little bit more.
12:59Face unlock, both still very good on both of these guys.
13:04So, you do have that option, which is really nice.
13:07Alright, so let's get into the star of the show, the cameras.
13:09I'm going to let you... leave it up to you guys.
13:11What do you guys think about the image quality?
13:13I took side-by-side stills with both of these phones.
13:15Let me know which phone you thought was better.
13:17Let's go over the specs first.
13:18So, the Pixel, it does have a 15-megapixel standard lens, 48-megapixel telephoto lens.
13:24It does up to 5X optical zoom.
13:27And then you also have on here a 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
13:31It shoots in 4K 60, 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide selfie cam.
13:37And then it also shoots in 4K 60.
13:40Now, with the S23 Ultra, this is where the money is going to the stylists and these beefy cameras, right?
13:47200-megapixel standard lens on here.
13:51So, basically, it takes higher detail shots when you crop in.
13:55So, if you do a lot of cropping into photos, you'll enjoy having that extra, you know, resolution.
14:01And then you also have a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
14:04It has 10X optical zoom on here as well, too.
14:07Then you have another 10-megapixel telephoto lens that does 3X.
14:10And then you also have a 12-megapixel ultra-wide on here as well, too.
14:14This one shoots in 8K 30 as well.
14:17And then you have a 12-megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
14:21This one also goes up to 100X zoom as well.
14:25And it takes some great zoom shots.
14:27I think there's no competition Samsung has pretty much with these zoom shots.
14:31It goes all the way up to 100X zoom.
14:33So, check out the photos.
14:36Let me know what you guys think.
