00:00Guys, today we're gonna do a comparison between the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the S20 Ultra here.
00:07So it's a very interesting comparison here.
00:10So if you don't have either of these phones, you could go the old flagship route or you
00:14could go with the newer S22.
00:17Or if you have a S20 Ultra and you're thinking about upgrading, let's go over the pros and
00:22cons.
00:23So the S22 Ultra, roughly still around $1,000 for this phone.
00:28The S20 Ultra, you can pick up for $300 to $350.
00:31I'll have that link down below here.
00:34So let's go ahead and just start off with the hardware here.
00:37So you can see very, you know, two different phones here.
00:40As you can see, the S22 Ultra pretty much takes on the Note body style here.
00:45Traditionally, S-series phones will look like this where it's more curved.
00:50And I actually prefer that feel in the hand.
00:53Like I said, I say in a lot of my videos, it fits better in the palm.
00:57The S22 Ultra does look extremely cool looking phone.
01:01The design has just really grown on me.
01:04And yeah, I really do like it.
01:06You can see I like the updated camera that they have on here.
01:09It just looks a little bit cleaner compared to the S20 Ultra here.
01:13As far as the size, they both actually are about the same size.
01:17I think the S22 is slightly a little bit taller.
01:22But they both feel about the same weight.
01:24They're both glass and metal, and they're both IP68 dust and water resistant.
01:28Now, there is a big hardware difference here with these two phones.
01:32The S22 Ultra does have the built-in S-Pen.
01:37So anybody that is into digital artwork or if you're into drawing and stuff like that,
01:42then you'll really like the S-Pen.
01:44It's extremely accurate, like I said.
01:47So anybody that just wants to navigate with a stylus or do digital artwork, you'll absolutely
01:51love that.
01:52One of the big hardware differences also is that the S20 Ultra does have SD card support
01:59and the S22 does not.
02:01So do take that into consideration because if you take a lot of video, download a lot
02:06of stuff, you're going to have just way more storage on the S20 Ultra because you can honestly
02:11just pop a 512 gigabyte card in this phone and you'll be good.
02:16So definitely remember that.
02:19But yeah, I do really like the hardware on both of these phones.
02:22Alright, so let's talk about the screens on both of these two phones.
02:26Slightly different approaches on the screen and also definitely some key things you need
02:31to know here.
02:32So, the S20 Ultra does have a 6.9 inch dynamic AMOLED display.
02:37It's 1440p, 511 for the PPI, gets a max brightness of 1400 nits and it's 120 hertz.
02:44The S22 Ultra has a 6.8 inch display and then it's also 1440p and it has a 500 for the
02:51PPI and it's 120 hertz, HDR10+, 1750 nits peak brightness.
02:58So it is a much, well I wouldn't say much, but it is a brighter display.
03:01You'll definitely notice the difference.
03:04And one of the big differences here is that one, you have a more curved design on the
03:08screen versus the more squared off design.
03:10Again, that really comes down to personal preference, it's not, it's just something
03:13that will look aesthetic, right?
03:15So it really comes down to what you like.
03:17But the big difference here is that while both of these phones run at 120 hertz, the
03:22S22 Ultra runs at 120 hertz at 1440p and the S20 Ultra does not.
03:29It can only run 120 hertz at full HD, so take that into consideration as well too.
03:35So again, the S22 Ultra, technically better display here.
03:40It runs at 120 hertz, it's a brighter display as well too.
03:44As far as the screen design, like I said, it really comes down to personal preference
03:47there.
03:48But they pretty much look identical head on besides those two things.
03:52And when I say identical, I mean quality wise.
03:54Let's talk about the specs a little bit more here.
03:57So with the S22 Ultra, we do have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip on here and we also have no SD
04:03card support.
04:04128 gigs of internal storage and 8 gigs of RAM.
04:08This is a base model S22.
04:10On the S20, we do have on here the Snapdragon 865 chip.
04:15We have micro SD card support and we also have on here 128 gigs of internal storage
04:22and then we have the base model with 12 gigs of RAM.
04:26So you do get more RAM on the base model S20 Ultra.
04:30Alright, so basically when it comes down to performance here, not too big of a performance
04:36jump actually.
04:37I would even go and say that the 865 chip doesn't heat up as much as the 8 Gen 1 chip
04:45when doing long periods of gaming.
04:47So that's also another benefit.
04:49Now of course, the 8 Gen 1 is going to be the more powerful chip.
04:51It scores higher in pretty much any benchmark you throw at it.
04:55But as far as the average person, you won't really notice too much of a difference when
04:59it comes to performance.
05:01Like general performance launching apps, they both are pretty much the same.
05:05And what's interesting here is gaming performance.
05:08So I noticed that I actually can get 90 frames on the S20 Ultra and that option is not there
05:13on the S22 Ultra like you guys will see in PUBG here.
05:17But alright guys, you guys can see right here on PUBG, we do have the 90 frames option on
05:24the S20 Ultra and if you guys never played any games in 90 frames, it is a big difference
05:28from 60 frames.
05:29It just feels extremely like instant.
05:32Now on the S22 Ultra here, while we do get a very good gaming experience, you know, there's
05:36no 90 frames option on PUBG and you'll find that sort of thing throughout on the S20 Ultra.
05:44You have a lot of options for 90 frames.
05:45So yeah, so overall, that's one thing I guess that you kind of have an advantage over.
05:51Even though the S22 Ultra is more powerful, this still has, you know, technically better
05:55settings.
05:56Alright, let's go ahead and check out the speaker quality between these two devices.
06:01Next volume, start with the S22.
06:03Yeah, again, the S20 Ultra does have a slight edge in terms of speakers.
06:32It's just overall a little bit louder and the bass hits a little bit harder.
06:36I'm starting to think this is probably because I've compared this to all of Samsung's major
06:40flagships, the S22 Ultra.
06:42I think this might be Samsung's worst speakers that they've put in a flagship now that I've
06:47actually heard all of them compared to all of the other older flagships.
06:51Also, let's talk about biometrics here.
06:55Biometrics pretty much feel the same.
06:56I don't really feel too much of a difference when it comes to the biometrics.
07:01They pretty much feel instant.
07:02They're both really good.
07:03You can also take advantage of face unlock.
07:05As far as your software experience, so here's also another very important thing.
07:10The S20 Ultra, this year it gets Android 13 and that's its last major OS update and it'll
07:16currently get three years of security patches.
07:19The S22 Ultra gets four major OS updates and five years of security patches.
07:24So take that into consideration as well too.
07:25As far as the software experience goes, it's pretty much the same.
07:30here.
07:31Reverse wireless charging is here.
07:33Everything that is on this phone is on this phone software-wise besides the S Pen features.
07:37Alright guys, let's talk about the camera.
07:39So the S20 Ultra has a 108 megapixel standard, a 48 megapixel periscope telephoto, a 4x optical
07:46and then 10x hybrid and you also have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide 0.3 depth sensor.
07:51It can shoot an 8K 24 and then a 40 megapixel selfie cam on the front and then you have
07:57a 4K 60 video.
07:59The S22 Ultra has a pretty similar setup.
08:03It's a 108 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel periscope telephoto, 10 megapixel telephoto,
08:093x optical zoom, then another 12 megapixel ultra-wide.
08:12It shoots an 8K 24, there's a macro mode and then you also have a 40 megapixel selfie cam
08:18with 4K 60 video.
08:20I'm going to show you guys some of these side-by-side stills.
08:57Alright guys, here's the video on the S20 Ultra.
09:17Zoom in a little bit.
09:22Let me know how the mic sounds.
09:29Alright guys, here's the video on the S20 Ultra.
09:33As you can see, I got my 3x, 10x.
09:48And I can go ahead and bounce to my 0.6.
09:52Alright, so lastly, the battery life experience is pretty much the same on these two phones.
10:02So they both have a 5,000 milliamp battery and they both have 45 watt charging with wireless
10:08and reverse wireless charging.
10:10I'm pretty much feeling like I'm getting the same screen on time with these two phones.
10:14I don't really feel too much of a difference when it comes to battery life.
10:17They both last a full day, which is good.
10:20So that is pretty much it guys.
10:22Be sure to let me know, which phone would you guys take?
10:25Would you guys take the cheaper S20 Ultra or would you guys go ahead and get the S22
10:31Ultra?
10:32Be sure to let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
