00:00What's up guys, today we will be comparing the Galaxy S21 Ultra to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
00:08You guys know S21 Ultra, one of my favorite phones, favorite old flagship phones to recommend
00:13to people and such a great buy, you can find it at $400 and of course the S24 is going
00:19to cost you around $1,300 and you can trade in your S24 and get a little bit off but you're
00:25still going to be spending a significant amount of money here.
00:28Alright, so let's go ahead and get started, let's see is this worth the actual upgrade
00:33here.
00:34Alright, so let's start off with the hardware on both of these devices.
00:37I think the S21 still looks really good in 2024, still has that really nice cool look
00:42and that cool camera cutout as well too that Samsung got rid of for the, I guess the cleaner
00:48look but yeah, so really, really nice hardware here, both are glass and metal devices, they're
00:54both IP68 dust and water resistant.
00:56They both have that matte finish so they don't pick up fingerprints as well but there
01:00are some essential differences with the hardware.
01:03One of the S24 Ultra does have the new titanium on here and it does make the phone a little
01:10bit lighter as well but the thing about it is this titanium, so far I have gotten like
01:17a little bit of scratches on it so I'm not sure like how I feel about the titanium but
01:21this is a phone that you definitely have to put a case on but it does make it feel much
01:26lighter.
01:27But the big thing with the hardware with these two phones is that the S21 Ultra is a little
01:32bit more comfortable to hold in the hand especially for anybody who has smaller hands.
01:39It's easier to grip because this one, the S24 is a little bit wider so you might struggle
01:45like holding this phone.
01:46These are both big phones but I noticed that this one is much easier and also it's not
01:50as comfortable.
01:51The S24 kind of pokes into the palm, kind of leaves like a little imprint there.
01:57But yeah so I do really like the hardware on the S21, it's really really comfortable.
02:02So there is also another essential difference here of course you do have the built in S
02:06pen on the S24 Ultra so if you guys like doing digital artwork or even if you just like navigating
02:13you do have that built in.
02:15Now here's something that a lot of people forget, the S21 Ultra does have S pen support
02:21so you can actually buy the S pen case and you can actually just use it and it has all
02:26the same features that the S24 has.
02:30So you're really not missing out as far as the stylus, it's just basically do you want
02:33to buy the S pen case with this thing.
02:37But yeah so that's probably some of the biggest differences.
02:41Both of these phones do not have any type of SD card support as well too.
02:45Now let's talk about the displays here so this is also another thing that I really like
02:49about the S21 Ultra and again it plays into the phone being a little bit more comfortable.
02:54Now I think the screen design on the S24 Ultra it does have that prettier design, it pretty
03:01much looks like a little mini TV so a lot of people like that but like I said when you're
03:05holding these two phones I do appreciate the curve on the S21 Ultra.
03:11And also there is another thing here, the S21 does have a slightly curved display, it's
03:17not dramatic but it is curved.
03:19The S24 does have a completely flat display this year so that's something that you might
03:24really really like.
03:26But let's talk about the screen quality.
03:28So the screen quality is pretty much the same essentially there's really not any type of
03:33big difference here that the average person would notice.
03:36So the S24 Ultra it is LTPO AMOLED display, dynamic, 120Hz, HDR10+, it does have a ridiculous
03:44max brightness of 2600 nits peak brightness, it is 1440p 505 for the PPI.
03:51So the S21 Ultra it does have also the dynamic AMOLED display, it's 120Hz, HDR10+, 1500 nits
03:58peak brightness at 6.8 inches, 1440p 515 for the PPI.
04:04So basically here the screens pretty much look identical, Samsung said they're going
04:09to fix this saturation or color problem with the S24, it does look a little bit dull in
04:15comparison to the S21 but apparently this is a software bug that they are going to fix.
04:20But as far as the displays, like I said I personally like the S21 Ultra's display a
04:25little bit more, I think it's easier to hold.
04:28And honestly looking at these two phones there's not really a big difference besides the max
04:32brightness, they both look pretty much identical in my opinion.
04:38You do have a better Gorilla Glass on the S24 Ultra so it's not going to get as many
04:43scratches but that's about it guys, you're not really getting a screen upgrade here in
04:47my opinion.
04:48Alright guys let's talk about the specs a little bit more here, so both of these phones
04:51are running Android 14, the S24 does have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 256 gigs
04:59of internal storage and 12 gigs of RAM, the S21 does have the Snapdragon AAA processor,
05:05128 gigs of internal storage and also 12 gigs of RAM and yeah so you guys can see the
05:12Geekbench scores here, you know a big difference in the single core and multi-core score as
05:18well too.
05:20And yeah so basically when it comes to speed, you're not really going to find that big of
05:25a difference but I do think that this new processor and the way Samsung is cooling the
05:30device, it is much better, it's much efficient.
05:32But when it comes to speed and when it comes to the actual gaming performance, you're just
05:36not going to find a big difference I would say at all honestly, the S21 feels legitimately
05:42just as fast as the S24 Ultra, I mean even down to the animation and stuff like that.
05:49So I think the S24 might be like a hair faster but it's really not that noticeable at all.
05:55And like I said when it comes down to the more important things like you know animations
05:59and stuff like that, smoothness, the S21 Ultra is still extremely smooth.
06:04Now the S21 Ultra, it will get Android 15 and then after that it will get security patches
06:10as well too which is really nice but Samsung did introduce the 7 years of major OS updates
06:17for the S24 Ultra so that's really nice so if you do get the phone you know that it's
06:22going to last a very long time but like I said is it really worth that money considering
06:26that these Android updates over the years aren't really that, you're not really getting
06:30a ton of features right.
06:31Now there is a big thing here and it really depends on the person right because this could
06:35be a big thing for you but it is the Galaxy AI features that Samsung was really touting
06:42so you know I'll just show you guys here, you know the phone get real time translation
06:47during phone calls.
06:48The Samsung keyboard now it does really good you know corrections and stuff like that.
06:53You have a live translator on here as well too and then also Samsung notes will automatically
06:58organize things, a voice recorder it'll turn it to transcripts, Samsung internet will also
07:04summarize a webpage, the photo editor you guys know you can move stuff around and you
07:08can do a ton of really cool AI stuff but it really depends on if you see yourself actually
07:13using those things and then also Samsung now has this, they do have this really cool thing
07:22I think this is probably like the, honestly these features could really come to the older
07:25Galaxies hopefully they bring it but you just circle stuff, I actually really like this
07:29I use it quite a bit, you just circle it and then it'll find like whatever it is on Google
07:35so whatever picture or object or whatever you can circle it and it'll search for it
07:40and it's pretty accurate so I really like it.
07:43But as far as speed and stuff like that, not that big of a deal, let's hop into PUBG.
07:48Even when it comes to games like PUBG, again you're not going to find too big of a difference
07:53and this is across the board whether it's Call of Duty or whatever, you can play PUBG
07:56at 90 frames and it's still extremely smooth on the S21 but like I said the big thing here
08:02is that the S21 Ultra if you play for a long time it can get a little bit warm, I've never
08:08had this crash on me or start lagging and stuff like that but I imagine if you're like
08:12a hardcore gamer then you probably wouldn't like that but like I said for the most part
08:19it feels pretty much the same so if you're a casual gamer you will notice zero, you're
08:24going to notice zero difference at all, it's not going to be a difference when it comes
08:28to gaming performance but like I said if you're somebody that's hardcore gaming and stuff
08:31like that, yeah then you might notice the difference because the triple A processor
08:36is not my favorite chip, it does get a little bit warm.
08:38Alright guys we're at max volume, let's check out the speaker quality.
09:08Yeah I'm not sure how well the mic is picking this up but the S24 Ultra definitely has a
09:24better speaker, it's fuller and it has more bass, I'm really impressed with Samsung's
09:29speaker this year, I think the S23 Ultra and the new S24, they kind of sound identical
09:34but this is a very clean sound, I think it's a pretty nice upgrade as well too.
09:39As far as the biometrics, again nothing has changed, still extremely fast, both have ultrasonic,
09:45both have the face unlock that you can take advantage of.
09:49Now let's go ahead and talk about the cameras on both of these phones.
09:53Both of these phones have some really good cameras, if you guys saw my last video I did
09:57on the S21 and I'm curious to see what you guys think about these photos, I'm going to
10:02show you guys side by side, do you guys think this is worth upgrading because I noticed
10:05some improvements but I want to know do you think it's enough.
10:08Alright so the S24 does have a 200 megapixel standard, 50 megapixel telephoto with now
10:145x optical, a 10 megapixel telephoto lens that does 3x and then a 12 megapixel ultrawide,
10:21it can shoot in 8K 30 and then a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
10:27The S21 has a 108 megapixel standard, 10 megapixel periscope telephoto, 10x zoom and
10:34then it has a 10 megapixel telephoto with 3x optical, 12 megapixel ultrawide and it
10:40shoots in 8K 24 and it has a 40 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60.
10:46So check out the side by side stills, I was really curious to see how that 10x zoom would
10:51look in comparison to the S23 even though they downgraded it to a 5x now, but yeah so
10:58let me know what you guys think.
12:21Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video, If you did hit that thumbs up button,
12:49subscribe to the channel, and I'll see you in the next video, peace out.
12:58Alright so let's talk about the battery life on both of these phones here.
13:02This is also a big difference here for the most part.
13:05So the S24 does have a 5000 mAh battery, it has 45 watt charging as well too and it also
13:13has wireless and reverse wireless charging that is on board.
13:18The S21 Ultra does also have a 5000 mAh battery, but it does charge a little bit slower than
13:24the S24, it has a 25 watt fast charging and then it also has the wireless and reverse
13:30wireless charging.
13:32The S24 Ultra's battery life is much much better, I think Samsung just like, they really
13:38stepped it up.
13:39I actually think the battery life on here is better than last year's S23 Ultra, so Samsung
13:43is going crazy when it comes to the battery performance in these phones, which is really
13:49nice because I'm telling you, the S22 Ultra and down, they've always had kind of okay
13:55battery life.
13:56I was never really impressed with it, but man, this phone, last year's phone, incredible
14:01battery life, definitely lasts much longer than the S21 Ultra for sure.
14:06So that could be something to sway you to upgrade, but lastly, my opinion, I don't think
14:12this is worth an upgrade at all.
14:15There's just not enough here, I wasn't not that impressed with the camera quality besides
14:19the low light photography, I think the S21 still takes excellent photos in comparison.
14:24The screen, in my opinion, is better because it's easier to hold and the hardware, I think
14:30it still looks modern, so no reason to upgrade, you still have the S Pen, you still have another
14:34major OS update, you still have security patches after that.
14:39There's just not a lot here to upgrade with.
14:41I think the biggest standout feature is actually battery life and that the phone doesn't get
14:46as warm if you're like a hardcore user.
14:48So if you're a power user, this could possibly be an upgrade for you, but I don't know, I
14:54just can't justify spending that type of money for such a minimal upgrade.
14:59What do you guys think?
15:00Am I totally wrong?
15:01Let me know and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
