00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be talking about 5 compact smartphones that you guys should check out today.
00:05And you can say that these phones have small screens because compared to most phones these days,
00:10you know, they are at 6.8 inches and that's one of the big complaints I get is,
00:14can you recommend any phones under 6 inches?
00:16There's not really a ton of phones, so you're limited, honestly,
00:20but I do have some and I've used them all and I have smaller hands myself,
00:24so these are all, I can confirm, very comfortable.
00:27The Asus Zenfone 9 is literally the best compact smartphone this year.
00:31It is just awesome. It checks all the boxes off, in my opinion.
00:35It feels great in the hand, aluminum frame.
00:38It does have a plastic back, but it is a textured back,
00:40and I think it still retains a premium feel and look to it.
00:43It's IP68 dust and water resistant.
00:45It has a 5.9 inch Super AMOLED display.
00:48It's HDR10+, 1100 nits peak brightness, 1080p panel, 445 for the PPI.
00:54Guys, this is a beautiful, bright panel, and like I said, it's very easy to one-hand.
00:59This phone, it is running Android 12 with ZenUI,
01:02and ZenUI is actually pretty close to stock Android.
01:05It just has a few, like, little Asus things,
01:07but it's actually very close to stock Android, so it's very clean looking.
01:10Snapdragon 8Gen1 Plus chip on here,
01:13and then this phone can basically game pretty much anything,
01:17so Fortnite, Call of Duty, PUBG.
01:19It plays it at high settings.
01:21This is a beast when it comes to gaming performance.
01:23Now, you have a 128 gig and 8 gig version.
01:26I believe that's the version that I have,
01:28and you also have what's very cool on here is a headphone jack.
01:32Not many flagship phones have a headphone jack.
01:35This one does.
01:36Not only that, but it has some amazing stereo speakers as well, too.
01:39Very loud bass quality.
01:41Just overall, really good full sound for such a small phone.
01:44You also have NFC on here.
01:46The fingerprint scanner is physical, and it's side-mounted.
01:48That works really well,
01:50and this phone, in my opinion, does have very good cameras.
01:53It's a 50-megapixel standard, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide,
01:56and yes, it's missing a telephoto lens,
01:58but honestly, the cameras are really good on here.
02:00It's 8K24 and then a 12-megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K30.
02:05You're getting phenomenal shots on here, very high-quality,
02:07flagship-quality shots, in my opinion,
02:10so I was really impressed with the image quality on this phone,
02:13and the biggest surprise here is that battery life is actually good on this phone,
02:18and that is a massive surprise,
02:20because you can't say that about most phones that are small.
02:22This has a 4300mAh battery, 30-watt charging,
02:26easily, easily gets through 6 hours of screen-on time.
02:29I would argue even 7.
02:31So, this phone is just a phenomenal buy.
02:33Alright, guys, if you can't afford the Zenfone 9,
02:36the predecessor is very good as well, the Zenfone 8.
02:39So, this is a very awesome phone.
02:41Again, this one actually has a glass-backed aluminum frame,
02:44and it feels really premium in the hand.
02:46Also, still the same 5.9-inch display.
02:48It's Super AMOLED, HDR10+, 1100 nits peak brightness,
02:521080p, 440x640 PPI, literally the same display,
02:56same dimensions, all that good stuff,
02:58and it's a very easy phone to hold.
03:00This phone also got the Android 12,
03:02and this phone has the Snapdragon 888 processor,
03:04so, again, really no difference from the 8Gen ones or the 888.
03:08This one still plays games the same.
03:11It still runs the same as well, too,
03:14as far as just smoothness and everything.
03:16So, you're not really gonna find a big performance difference.
03:19You will with benchmarks slightly,
03:21but, again, virtually the same.
03:23You also have 128 gigs of internal storage,
03:268 gigs of RAM on this one,
03:29and you can find this for, like, $450.
03:32So, like I said, you can't afford a $650 phone,
03:35then go with this one.
03:36This is a little bit, you know, better priced.
03:38This one has stereo speakers as well, too.
03:40Pretty much the same quality, very loud bass,
03:43very good mids and highs, you know, a full sound.
03:46And then this one also has the headphone jack as well, too,
03:48which is nice.
03:49Fingerprint scanner.
03:50Here's under the display, so that works really well.
03:53And then this phone has pretty good camera setup.
03:56It's a 64-megapixel standard with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide,
03:59and then it shoots in 8K 24,
04:01and then a 12-megapixel standard that shoots in 4K 30.
04:05And image quality is also pretty good in here.
04:07You guys can see the pictures kind of speak for themselves.
04:10I thought the image quality was good.
04:11Great color, good dynamic range.
04:13And again, this one doesn't have any type of telephoto lens,
04:16but honestly, if you can get over that,
04:18it takes some great shots.
04:19So I was really impressed with that.
04:21Now, the battery life is not as good on this one.
04:23It's 4,000 milliamps with 30-watt charge.
04:26It's not as good as a Zenfone 9.
04:28So this phone typically ran around 4 hours and 30 minutes,
04:31which is fine, again,
04:33but that's not technically a full day of use.
04:36So definitely keep that into consideration.
04:38All right, next is the iPhone SE 2020.
04:40I like this one because it's just super cheap these days.
04:43It's 200 bucks.
04:44It's really not that much different
04:47than the 2022 version, honestly.
04:49So you get to save a lot of money.
04:51This one has a pretty similar design
04:54to the previous older iPhones, like the iPhone 8.
04:57Aluminum frame, IP67 dust and water resistant.
05:01It has the big, chunky bezels.
05:03But the screen is really small on here.
05:05It's a 4.7-inch display, Retina IPS,
05:09625 for the max brightness,
05:11and then it's 720p plus 326 for the PPI.
05:14Overall, it's a fine display
05:16since it's just so small that the specs on here,
05:19it looks pretty good in real life.
05:21This phone does have iOS 16 on it.
05:23It's running the Apple A13 chip,
05:25which is still a very, very powerful chip.
05:27It can still game at high settings.
05:30Basically, any game I threw at it, it was able to play.
05:33So I had no issues as far as performance with this phone.
05:3664 gigs of internal storage and 3 gigs of RAM on the base model.
05:39This phone does have NFC.
05:41It has the Touch ID, the physical button that a lot of people like.
05:45And you also have somewhat of a pretty good camera.
05:49It's just only one camera.
05:51That's the only downside to this phone.
05:5312-megapixel standard, shoots in 4K 60,
05:557-megapixel selfie, shoots in 1080p 30.
05:58Image quality is actually pretty good on this phone.
06:01It does take very good photos, in my opinion.
06:03But like I said, the only downside is
06:05there's no ultrawide, there's no telephoto.
06:07It's just that one camera.
06:09But if you can get over that, just for point and clicks,
06:11I think this takes very good photos,
06:14especially considering the price of this device.
06:17Now, the battery situation on here,
06:19it's 1,821 milliamps.
06:22So basically, it's on the same boat with the Zenfone 8.
06:26It gets like 4 hours of screen-on time.
06:29It does have wireless charging, and I really like that.
06:33But overall, battery life is just gonna be
06:35kinda okay-ish on this phone.
06:37It's not gonna be great.
06:39But definitely, I really like this phone.
06:41Alright guys, next is the iPhone 13 mini.
06:43This is another awesome, smaller flagship phone
06:46that I think you guys will really like.
06:48The price is coming down on this phone every year,
06:50so it's at a pretty good price right now.
06:52I think it's sitting at around $600 to $500.
06:54And I really like the design on here.
06:57Again, looks really good.
06:59Aluminum frame, IP68.
07:01It has the XDR OLED display on here.
07:04It gets up to 1,200 nits peak brightness at 5.4 inches.
07:071080p, 476 for the PPI.
07:10So overall, again, a high-quality, very beautiful display.
07:13Really, the only thing this display is missing
07:15is like high refresh rate.
07:17But this phone running iOS 16.
07:19It has the Apple A15 chip.
07:21Extremely powerful chip, guys.
07:23Absolutely beast.
07:25If you buy this phone, you really won't have to upgrade
07:27for years and years to come,
07:29because it's going to be blazing fast.
07:31You also have 128 gigs of internal storage
07:33and 4 gigs of RAM on here.
07:35The stereo speakers are actually pretty impressive on here.
07:38Great bass quality, very loud.
07:40NFC is on board.
07:42Face ID, of course, is here.
07:44You also have a very good camera setup,
07:46a 12-megapixel standard and a 12-megapixel ultrawide.
07:49It basically takes flagship-quality photos, guys.
07:52You can basically put it on par with like an iPhone 13, 13 Pro.
07:56It's 4K 60 on here for the front and back
07:59with a 12-megapixel selfie.
08:01So, overall, you already know what you're getting into.
08:04Great images on the 13 Mini.
08:07Now, this phone does have actually pretty good battery life as well, too.
08:10This has a 2438 milliamp battery,
08:13and then you also have wireless charging
08:15with the MagSafe wireless charging.
08:18Basically, this phone can pretty much do
08:20about six hours of screen-on time.
08:22For me, personally, especially if you're not like a heavy gamer,
08:25battery life is pretty good thanks to that A15 chip.
08:29All right, guys, next is the S10e.
08:31So, you can find this for around $200.
08:33I still really like the design on here.
08:35It's aluminum frame, it's glass back, it's IP68.
08:39You also have a 5.8-inch dynamic AMOLED.
08:42It's HDR10+, at 1080p, 438.
08:45Again, another phone that is very easily one-handable.
08:49And then you also have Android 12 with One UI 4.1.
08:53This phone is currently in its security patch stages as well, too.
08:57You have the Snapdragon 855.
08:59I did a gaming test, guys. Check it out.
09:01This phone still plays games really, really well.
09:04Call of Duty, PUBG, it was like blowing through it like it was nothing.
09:07You also have microSD card support on here,
09:10so you can expand the storage.
09:12And you also have a headphone jack on here
09:14with stereo speakers, NFC, Samsung desktop support.
09:18All the bells and whistles are actually still on here.
09:21You also have a fingerprint scanner side-mounted.
09:23It's physical, and that works really well.
09:26And you also have on this phone, I think, pretty good cameras.
09:29Now, I'm not going to say the best cameras.
09:31This is probably, compared to the rest of the phones,
09:34it's probably like number four on the list of the best cameras.
09:37It has a 12-megapixel standard and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide.
09:40It shoots in 4K60 on the front and back.
09:43And then you have a 10-megapixel selfie cam.
09:46It takes very good shots on here,
09:48but if you're looking for the best camera,
09:50it's probably the Asus or one of the iPhones.
09:53But I still think it takes great shots,
09:56especially in good lighting and stuff like that.
09:59I honestly don't see any issues with this phone.
10:02You also have a 3,100-milliamp battery.
10:06It does have wireless charging and reverse wireless charging,
10:09so you can charge up another device.
10:11But again, this is one of those phones that can only get you
10:13around 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen-on time.
10:16So you're not going to get a full day of use out of this phone.
10:19But that's pretty much it, guys.
10:21Be sure to let me know what you guys think,
10:23and I'll catch you guys in the next video.
