00:00What's up guys today we're going to be talking about the top five best old flagships in late 2024 for $400
00:06This is an excellent price point where it's not super expensive, but again, it's not too cheap
00:11But you are getting a very good phone. I think this is a really good year for this category here
00:17So let's go ahead and get into it
00:19The first phone that I wanted to bring to you guys attention is the galaxy s23
00:24The standard version so the s23 plus I wanted this on the list, but it's closer to 500
00:30But this is a very good buy and I think this one gets overlooked. So it came down in price
00:35It's like a little under uh 400 depending on if you get the 128 or 256 gigabyte
00:41So the design is still excellent on here. Basically looks like an s24
00:45It's an aluminum frame ip68 dust and water resistant premium design
00:50Uh, this phone feels excellent. It's a you know, a smaller device so you can easily one hand this device
00:56Well, I won't say easily but you can you can easily kind of you know, one hand this device is not a big phone
01:01Uh, so you do have a dynamic amoled 120 hertz display. It's hdr10 plus at
01:071750 nits peak brightness it is 1080p 425 for the ppi
01:12completely flat display really slim bezels on here as well two beautiful colors
01:18And I think this is a really good display samsung again makes some of the best displays
01:22And like I said, this is for people who don't want something massive
01:25Now this phone just got the android 14 update and it will get four years of major os updates and this phone
01:32It still feels extremely fresh software wise because it got the galaxy ai feature. So you're not really missing out on anything
01:40compared to an s24
01:42now the best thing about this phone is the snapdragon 8 gen 2 was a
01:46big deal when it first came out because this chip was very efficient in terms of
01:51The heating and then also the battery life so it just did a much better job than you know
01:57Compared to a standard galaxy s22. This is why I say this was an excellent year for
02:02You know smartphones because they really ironed out a lot of stuff
02:06So again base model 128 gigs 8 gigs of ram on here. The stereo speakers sound really good on here great bass
02:13Really well tuned with the akg and then we also have ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that works great
02:19Samsung desktop support all the bells and whistles are here
02:22Now the best thing about an s23 is that the pictures are pretty close to the galaxy s24

02:35You also have 8k 24 and 30 fps video with a 12 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4k 60
02:42Excellent photos and video quality guys. Uh, you cannot go wrong with this phone at this price point
02:48You're getting again flagship quality photos still now the next biggest thing with this s23 series in general was battery life
02:56This phone has very good battery life compared to a galaxy s22
03:00It's like a night and day difference standby time is better and screen on time is better
03:05It's an all-day phone. Even if you're going to be gaming a little bit
03:08This is going to be a fantastic phone 25 watt charging wireless and reverse wireless charging
03:15It does a fantastic job when it comes to battery life next is the s22 ultra you can find this for

03:24um, there is actually a cheaper version around 350 for 128 gigs, but
03:29You know, it depends on how much storage you use, right?
03:31Um, but still excellent design on here
03:34Full premium design ip68 dust and water resistant
03:37You have the built-in s-pen that you can do digital artwork with and a bunch of other features
03:42Now the display on here it is a curved panel
03:45So do note that it is dynamic amoled 120 hertz hdr 10 plus still has really good colors
03:51Very good brightness at 1750 nits. It is a 6.8 inch 1440p display

03:59Beautiful panel again, not really that much different from a galaxy s24 or 23
04:04Besides this one has a more of a dramatic curve. It really comes down to your personal preference this year
04:10It has a four major os updates this year. It got one ui 6.1 again the galaxy ai features as well, too
04:17So you will be getting updates security updates with this phone so you don't have to worry about that
04:22The I wouldn't say this is an issue. It depends. So the snapdragon 8 gen 1 it is
04:27A decent processor, but it's not a processor. I think for gaming
04:32Uh heavy gaming so you could game on here and you get really good settings like on pubg you can play at high fps
04:38Uh, but this phone does heat up a little bit more than I would like i've never had the phone crash on me or anything
04:44Like that, uh, but it does kind of you know heat up a little bit
04:48So that's something you do need to note if you are a gamer
04:51Um, I have one of those like little cooling devices that you can put on your the back of your phone that I did a video
04:56about
04:57Uh, but besides that i'm not a heavy gamer
04:59So i've never actually had performance problems with this phone and actually was funny the one ui 6.1 update
05:05It actually helped the uh, the battery life on this phone as far as standby time
05:10uh, but again the base model 128 gigs 8 gigs of ram you also have I think some of the most
05:16Disappointing speakers from samsung. They're not terrible. They just don't sound great
05:21And if you compare it to s23 or 24, you'll really see what i'm talking about
05:25Uh, they just sound kind of flat. There's just not a lot of bass in these speakers
05:30Uh, the fingerprint scanner is excellent again
05:32All the bells and whistles are here now the cameras on the s22 ultra are still really great
05:37Uh, this really shines for anybody who's into zoom photography. You get some excellent zoom photos on here
05:44So you have 108 megapixel standard 10 megapixel telephoto three times obstacle
05:49Then a 10 megapixel periscope telephoto 10 times optical with a 12 megapixel ultrawide. You have 8k 24
05:56Uh video and then also a 40 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4k 60
06:00Like I said, you're on a budget
06:02This is still going to get you great shots if you're at sporting events if you're at a concert
06:07Or you know, whatever just you're going to get excellent zoom photography with this. So the cameras still look great
06:13um, there's nothing about these cameras that I dislike at this price point I can nitpick here and there but
06:18You can if you're buying this phone and you want a good zoom camera could just get camera in general
06:22This is a very good camera still you have a 5 000
06:26A milliamp hour battery 45 watt charging with wireless and reverse wireless charging
06:31So basically the battery life is just decent on here
06:34It's not anything crazy if you're a heavier user, which you're taking a lot of photos videos gaming a lot
06:41Then you would definitely need to charge this phone
06:44But if you're a lighter user you can kind of get through the day with this phone
06:48Um, so yeah, it just depends on how you use it. All right
06:50So next is going to be the iphone 13 pro. So ebay has these for 450
06:56Dollars now you can get the iphone 13 the standard version for around 400, but I would say pay the extra
07:0350 and then you can get this phone and it's a it's a much better buy than the 13
07:08So this phone I think still has apple's one of all-time great designs. It's a stainless steel
07:14A frame on here. It's got the really nice matte finish on here ip68 just and water resistant just looks really nice
07:22Still in 2024 here. So this phone does have the you know, old school kind of notch
07:28It is the smaller one, but it is a little outdated as far as the notch goes
07:31But it's the super retina xdr oled display. It's 120 hertz. It's 1200 nits peak brightness, which isn't crazy
07:38But you can still kind of view it outdoors. It's not that bad
07:42It is a 1170 by 2532
07:45Resolution display at 460. So the display is actually very high quality great colors on here
07:51Really no issues. And like I said, you get that 120 hertz
07:54So that's why I said you can get the 13, but that's going to be a 60 hertz panel
07:58So it does make a difference this phone launched with ios 15. It's on ios 18. It'll have plenty of more updates
08:05Uh, it does have the apple a15 bonnet chip. This phone is extremely fast still. There's really no
08:11Difference between I would say there's no real difference in performance between this and the latest iphone if you really want to keep it real
08:17Uh, you got 128 gigs of internal storage and 6 gigs of ram overall. This phone runs very very smoothly
08:24Excellent sounding speakers on here as well. We have great bass quality just really nicely tuned speakers
08:31Of course, you got face id on here and really the camera
08:34So you have a 12 megapixel standard a 12 megapixel telephoto three times optical zoom and a 12 megapixel
08:41Ultra wide it shoots in 4k 24 30 and 60 and then you have a 12 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4k
08:4824 25 30 and 60. Um, so the cameras on here are some of the most
08:54Loved cameras from the iphone a lot of people
08:57You know really like the 13 series cameras in general me include uh included
09:02Um, I just love the way the shots come out and I love the way the colors come out
09:06I think these take really good photos
09:08The thing about what the iphone is because you can kind of get that like gray kind of look
09:13Um, and with this series, I didn't really have that issue
09:17But with the newer ones you kind of get like that
09:20To me at least uh, but the cameras are fantastic. I think still think iphone takes some of the best video as well
09:26And um, yeah, this phone actually has very good battery life as well, too
09:30So it's got a 3095 milliamp hour battery. You got the wireless magsafe charging with the standard wireless charging
09:38Um, so battery life is really good. I didn't really have an issue with this phone as far as battery performance
09:43All right. Next is going to be the one plus 11
09:45This is a phone that I really like this year that I picked up. It's got the aluminum frame now. It is ip64
09:52So just do note that it's not ip68
09:54Now you can find this phone for around 450 bucks and it's got the ltpl3 fluid amoled display
10:01It is hdr10 plus 120 hertz and it does have a 1300 nits peak brightness
10:06It is a 6.7 inch display at 1440p resolution with 525 for the ppi
10:13Overall a very nice display. It is a curved panel as well
10:16So do note that and they do have the punch hole on the left hand side, which is not a big deal
10:21It's just kind of a little bit different from what we're used to seeing now
10:24This phone is running oxygen os it is the snapdragon 8 gen 2 and it's a very fast phone when it comes
10:31Uh to animations and just being smooth. I think oxygen os is, you know, pretty nicely
10:37done, especially the 14 version so
10:41You have 128 gigs of internal storage 8 gigs of ram on here gaming is fine
10:45You can play pubg at very high fps and overall have no heating issues or performance problems with this phone at all
10:53It is a very very good on performance. So this phone does have a stereo speaker on here and it's pretty decent
10:59It's not the best, uh, but you know, it's okay
11:02And then we also have a optical fingerprint scanner, but this one is pretty fast though
11:06I don't have an issue with this one. Um, it works really well almost kind of close to an ultrasonic one, but
11:13Not quite as fast, but it definitely is really accurate
11:16Now the oneplus 11 does have a pretty decent camera setup. It's a 50 megapixel
11:22Standard with a 32 megapixel telephoto 2x optical zoom with a 48 megapixel ultra wide
11:28It can shoot an ak24 and you do have a 16 megapixel selfie that shoots in only 1080 30
11:34So you can kind of see they cut a little bit with this phone because when it first came out it was a you know
11:39A cheaper flagship, uh, but overall still images look perfectly fine. I'm not a big fan of the video
11:45I thought the video could be a lot better on this phone
11:48That's the only thing I you know, I didn't like about this device
11:51But besides that the pictures look really good on here. No issues at all
11:56And this phone I think this is the highlight the battery life on this phone is extremely good
12:01And not only do you have really good battery life on here
12:03you also have pretty fast charging and oneplus, uh, they give you the charger in the box, which I always really like about this company, but
12:10You have an 80 watt charger for usa, but it's 100 watts. Um on the uh international version
12:17Um, but yeah, so this charge is super super fast and I absolutely love it
12:21Now you don't have any type of wireless or reverse wireless charging on here
12:25So do note that but like I said this charge is so fast that I think you know
12:30Most people wouldn't care and I actually would prefer the faster charging
12:34Anyway, I got the last phone on the list is the pixel 7 pro the 256 gig version
12:39You can actually find this cheaper than 400
12:42Around 300 if you get the 128 gig it just depends on how much storage you need
12:47This is a phone that I really like. Uh, it has a still a pretty good design on here
12:52The aluminum frame you have the classic pixel bar camera design. You've also got ip68 dust and water resistant
12:58This phone does have an ldpo amoled display. It's 120 hertz hdr 10 plus 1500 nits peak brightness
13:05And it is 6.7 inches 1440p
13:08512 for the ppi. It's a very nice display and a super smooth display as well here running stock android
13:15This phone is currently getting the android 15 update. I'm actually running the beta right now
13:19And um, yeah, so you have the google tensor g2 processor. This is not necessarily again a gaming phone
13:26Um, you can kind of casually game on here. I don't think it's really for competitive gaming, especially especially if you are
13:32You know on a budget, um, but it is a pretty smooth phone overall
13:36The issue I have with the pixel 7 pro is that I did have overheating problems
13:41Like if it was sunny outside and i'm filming I did get like that that heating problem, uh warning on the screen
13:47Um, but besides that i've never had an issue besides being outside because I film a lot of shorts with this phone
13:54Uh where I used to so you do have 128 gigs of internal storage
13:58And you also have 12 gigs of ram as well, too. So this one actually has very good speakers
14:03Um, the speakers have a lot of bass and they overall just sound really great
14:08Um now the fingerprint scanner on here. It's okay. It's definitely not the best
14:12It's the optical one, but it gets the job done once you get the hang of it
14:16It's just a little bit slower than I would like now
14:19The photos is what you're really buying this phone for
14:22It's got a 50 megapixel standard 48 megapixel periscope telephoto five times optical and a 12 megapixel ultra wide
14:29It shoots in 4k 60 on the front and back with a 10.8 megapixel
14:34ultra wide selfie cam
14:36Basically, this phone can still as far as still images still take excellent photos
14:41Even compared to the newest phones on the market right now
14:44So if you're looking for an excellent photo taker this phone, like I said guys easily will give you some really good photos
14:51It's one of my favorite phones to recommend to people
14:54Um as far as people who are hyper focused on photos and skin tones are always really accurate as well, too
15:01Which is something that I like and overall the camera experience is just going to be really really good on the pixel
15:07I actually personally like the video you can kind of see the age in the video a little bit once you compare it to
15:12Pixel 9 and pixel 8
15:14Um, but overall the video is solid if you give it enough light battery life is just kind of okay on this phone
15:20It's not anything too special
15:22It's a 5000 milliamp hour battery with 23 watt charging and wireless charging as well, too
15:28You have reverse wireless charging in addition to that but battery life is just kind of okay on this device
