00:00The winning model of the Lombardy is in the hands of Asso Lombarda.
00:27Mattarella delivers the ENI Award 2024.
00:32Sardinia as a laboratory for the future of public transport.
00:36The conference of Astra Cagliari.
00:39Como Lake, great success for the second edition.
00:43Statistical, a success for the four days dedicated to statistics and demography.
00:49Presented in the Senate, the Digital Meet 2024.
00:54Energy, Hydrogen, Venice, Bridge between Europe and the Mediterranean.
01:05The 2024 Assembly of Asso Lombarda took place at the Bocconi University's Magna Hall in Milan.
01:11The Assise, from the title L'Impresa che è in noi, was opened this year,
01:16in the presence of representatives of the institutions and the community of entrepreneurs of Milan,
01:20Monza-Brianza, Pavia and Lodi, from the institutional short L'Impresa che è in noi,
01:25people, work, our art, promoted by the association to represent industrial pride,
01:30as well as innovation, commitment and the passion of its protagonists.
01:34We have highlighted the excellent data that Lombardy has made in recent years.
01:39I must say that the whole country has performed very well in recent years,
01:44but Lombardy a little bit better than the others.
01:48We have said that we are a winning model,
01:51because it is a model that has invested a lot in innovation,
01:54it has invested a lot in sustainability,
01:57since we have reduced a lot of dependencies that we had in the past
02:02and we are able to, on many technologies,
02:05have sustainability indexes that are the best in Europe.
02:10So our goal was to propose the Lombardo model
02:15as a model to be copied for Europe,
02:18because it is a model that pays great attention to the challenges we have in front of us,
02:23but at the same time has great respect for the industry,
02:26because the real revolutions are made by having an industry behind,
02:29otherwise the risk is the dependence of strategic raw materials and industries
02:38from countries that are outside Europe, so they can be more at risk.
02:43Among the points touched by President Alessandro Spada in his speech,
02:46the new technologies, the fact of stability
02:49and the need to restart the 2035 thermal engine.
02:53The goal of 2035 is clear to everyone,
02:57it is a goal that is difficult to achieve,
03:00so in order not to vanify the investments that the automotive industry is making today,
03:06it is right to sit down and rethink these goals.
03:10Of course, the goals must always lead to a lower impact of cars on the planet,
03:19but assessments must be made with all the technologies available
03:24so that others can also contribute in this phase,
03:28which is a phase of transition and not a point of arrival.
03:32The transition has a longer path,
03:35and this path must be better studied and recalibrated
03:40compared to all the technologies that we have available today.
03:48Sustainability, innovation, energy and the future.
03:52These are the central themes of the award ceremony of the ENI Award 2024,
03:57held at the Palazzo del Quirinale,
03:59at the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella,
04:02and at the top of ENI.
04:04At its 16th edition, the ENI Award has become a prestigious international reference point
04:09in the field of scientific research,
04:11demonstrating ENI's constant commitment to promoting innovation,
04:15sustainability and access to energy,
04:18in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
04:22The award for the Energy Transition Section
04:25was awarded to Marc Foncave of the Collège de France
04:28for his research on innovative technologies to value CO2
04:32as an alternative source of carbon for the production of industrial-interested compounds.
04:41I am very happy and proud to have received this award
04:44because it represents a recognition of the quality of the work
04:47that we have done, not only me, but also all my students,
04:51PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and engineers working with me.
04:58It is, of course, a collective success.
05:01Even though I am a scientist who comes from basic research,
05:05now all our efforts are oriented towards technological, industrial and practical applications,
05:11also thanks to collaborations with companies.
05:14This is the path we are taking,
05:17and this award confirms to us that this is the right strategy.
05:21In the Young Talents from Africa section,
05:24the award was awarded to Petra Chui of the Egerton University of Kenya
05:29for her research on microplastics.
05:33The ENI Award means a lot to me
05:35because studying and conducting research in Africa,
05:38obtaining a global recognition,
05:40shows that what we do locally can have an impact on the whole world.
05:45I am very grateful for this recognition
05:48that gives me the drive to work even harder
05:51and achieve better results in the field of research on microplastics.
06:01While in the special mention ENI Jowl for Entrepreneurship,
06:04one of the awarded start-ups is the HBI Human Based Innovation.
06:08This award means a change of course for us.
06:10We go from start-ups to real companies,
06:13so here we renew our commitment to finding a solution
06:17and promoting it to be sustainable,
06:19circular and long-term.
06:27How to improve the offer of local public transport
06:30and draw new demand through innovative and sustainable solutions?
06:34These are the themes of the international conference held at the T-Hotel in Cagliari,
06:38organized by Astra, Imprese and Movimento.
06:41Many guests and even more ideas
06:43were discussed during the conference.
06:48We are here in Cagliari
06:50because the interaction between physical and digital infrastructures
06:55is one of the possible solutions to provide services
06:59more and more focused on the needs.
07:02Traditionally, mobility is built on supply.
07:08The future of mobility and Astra's recipe
07:11is that we believe that in the future
07:14we will have to build a TPL system oriented to the needs.
07:19The big challenge in Sardinia is to make transport homogenous
07:22in a territory that, from a demographic point of view, is not.
07:26It is clear that a homogenous lifestyle like that of Sardinia
07:31requires that a policy that recalls the demand for public transport
07:37is absolutely supported by an investment policy in infrastructures
07:41that can somehow allow the interconnection between different transport systems.
07:46The mayor Massimo Zedda is also present,
07:49who during the conference explained that public transport
07:51can respond to other transversal issues,
07:54including reducing the costs of first aid and first intervention.
07:58We have a series of planned investments
08:02that we are planning in the context of the FSC,
08:06of the new European Programme 2021-2027,
08:09in the direction of the environment, the protection of this,
08:12a sustainable mobility,
08:14an intervention related to ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of roads,
08:18squares and footpaths,
08:20also because it is an incentive for the use of the most sustainable means,
08:23that is, the legs,
08:25so to travel as far as possible on foot,
08:29in serenity and safety,
08:31therefore also with public lighting systems
08:33that encourage the travel of places on foot,
08:38the enhancement of local public transport,
08:41also in agreement with the Sardinian region,
08:43the extension of the network and accessibility.
08:52The second edition of ComoLake,
08:54the international event that in Cernobbio
08:57has brought together the leading experts in innovation and digitization,
09:00organized by Micromega.
09:02For four days,
09:04speakers from 14 countries
09:06have illustrated ideas and digital and innovative content
09:09in the suggestive location of Villa Erba.
09:12We are, so to speak,
09:14encouraging the evolution towards the digital,
09:16great satisfaction also in terms of content,
09:19because among the 170 speakers who have alternated,
09:24there have been interventions of absolute and total elevation.
09:27Our goal is to collect ideas,
09:29present the government's ideas
09:32and obviously try to make a summary,
09:35which is what we did last year,
09:37because I remember that a series of initiatives were born
09:40from ComoLake 2023,
09:42first of all, of course,
09:43the draft law on artificial intelligence.
09:45The 2024 edition has exceeded expectations,
09:48confirming its centrality in the sector of innovation and digitization
09:52with the exposure of innovative projects that look to the future.
09:56I was very impressed
09:58by Google's project
10:00to feed the data centers
10:03with nuclear energy,
10:05with nuclear reactors,
10:07which shows how the issue
10:10that concerns, let's say,
10:12the aspects of future programming
10:14of a digitized world
10:16that is traversed by artificial intelligence
10:18must be combined with the aspects of energy sustainability
10:22and, as you can see, it puts into question
10:24practically everything that we often and willingly took for granted.
10:27Many top digital managers
10:29and representatives of the institutions
10:31faced each other in a multiplicity of opinions
10:34in an edition that had as a guest of honor
10:37Africa, the main continent of the next digital boom.
10:41Africa, as an immense continent
10:43that we have under the balcony of the house
10:46and often we do not realize it,
10:48but also Africa, made up of 52 countries
10:51with the lowest average age on the planet
10:54and with the possibility of being evaluated
10:56not as an immense territory
10:58rich in raw materials,
11:00but made up of people.
11:02Technology, economic growth, development
11:06cannot be nothing if they do not focus
11:08the growth of people.
11:10So the overall balance is positive
11:13and, how to say, gives us a series of elements
11:15with which to look forward for a next edition.
11:18The title The Great Challenge
11:20perhaps is not nice because it is in English,
11:22but it has the meaning of the challenge,
11:24of the challenge, of the global challenge
11:26and of the great responsibilities
11:28that are required to face these challenges.
11:36Four days with a set of statistical data
11:38but with a pop approach.
11:40This is Statistical,
11:42a festival unique in the world
11:44for the current innovative part of its proposals
11:46and for its contemporary language
11:48and accessible to everyone.
11:50Being able to read the numbers
11:52also means being able to read the reality
11:54that surrounds us
11:56and in our idea of statistics
11:58there is also that
12:00being able to read the numbers
12:02means being able to be good citizens,
12:04informed citizens,
12:06because they are one of the tools
12:08that we have for our information.
12:11The 10th edition of the summary
12:13organized by the SIS,
12:15the Italian Statistical Society,
12:17the ISTAT and the Statistical Society with Radogini
12:19with the sponsorship of the European Commission,
12:21of the Region of Veneto, of the Municipality of Treviso
12:23and in collaboration with the European Parliament
12:25offers a programme of appointments
12:27on the theme of Statistics Without Borders
12:29Faith, Ethics, System,
12:31the Future of Data in Europe.
12:33It is a fundamental issue.
12:35If we want to make the point of the situation,
12:37the Statistical Societies must not have borders,
12:39nor in Europe,
12:41where, as everyone knows,
12:43there is a European statistical system
12:45to which the coordination is entrusted
12:47to an institute called Eurostat
12:49that coordinates all the national statistical systems
12:51of the EU countries
12:53and this
12:55allows us
12:57to have comparable statistics.
12:59Also this year
13:01the number of participants was high
13:03and the interest around the festival grew.
13:05It is important
13:07that every year there are more people
13:09who come,
13:11that there is a greater interest.
13:13Now also the press has given us space.
13:15The thing that made me notice this morning,
13:17beautiful,
13:19is that they are starting to call it Statistical,
13:21no longer Festival of Statistics,
13:23they have finally found the acronym to define it.
13:25So finding titles in which you speak statistical
13:27means that people know,
13:29that they know how to recognize us,
13:31so I think it is a good future for the next editions.
13:33Ten years of a festival
13:35that is in the squares
13:37that tries to meet people
13:39is a great result.
13:41A result of presence,
13:43of help
13:45and approach to statistical knowledge
13:47for the commitment
13:49and thanks to the commitment
13:51of the National Institute of Statistics
13:53and the scientific societies
13:55that organize this event with us.
13:57Reaching the tenth year
13:59means having involved
14:01the institutions,
14:03the Academy,
14:05schools
14:07and a goal of growth,
14:09of training,
14:11of knowledge,
14:13that today becomes
14:15a national event.
14:21The biggest Italian festival
14:23on digital literacy
14:25for citizens and businesses
14:27is the Digital Meet 2024,
14:29scheduled from 21 to 27 October,
14:31whose press conference
14:33of the pre-opening of the two days,
14:3518 and 19 October,
14:37opened with a meeting
14:39on the ethics of artificial intelligence
14:41in Palazzo Giustignani in Rome.
14:43The purpose of today's meeting
14:45is to underline that
14:47Italy has recovered a lot in Europe
14:49in recent years,
14:51we went from 26th and 27th place
14:53in the European graduation
14:55that is the DESI index,
14:57to the current 19th,
14:59and we haven't lost anything
15:01on digital literacy.
15:03Our challenge is
15:05digital literacy
15:07and that's what we do
15:09with the Digital Meet.
15:11We bring the digital language
15:13to all territories.
15:15What does it mean
15:17for this year's edition?
15:19It means being present
15:21in all events and regions
15:23and starting from Monday,
15:2521st to 27th,
15:27between the promoters,
15:29Senator Antonio De Poli,
15:31who underlines how ethics
15:33is a fundamental factor
15:35to give clear rules
15:37to the great development
15:39of artificial intelligence.
15:41Our consciousness is
15:43something fundamental.
15:45Ethics and consciousness
15:47are the fundamental and precise
15:49points for the future
15:51of artificial intelligence
15:53and what will be the innovation
15:55that artificial intelligence
15:57cannot replace.
15:59We govern with clear and precise
16:01rules that have already
16:03been given at the European level,
16:05but I think that we still
16:07have to give clear rules
16:09for those who don't want
16:11to use it in the best way
16:13in the way of evolution
16:15of our society,
16:17but in a negative way.
16:19We have to have clear and precise
16:21rules that can't be used.
16:23Professor of Computer Science
16:25at the University of Padova
16:27illustrates the next practical developments
16:29of ChatGPT.
16:31ChatGPT has opened
16:33the front of natural language,
16:35which was not possible before.
16:37The evolution
16:39will be to include
16:41in addition to the text
16:43also video,
16:45images and this jacket,
16:47sound, speech,
16:49spoken, in order to
16:51allow the computer
16:53to connect more easily
16:55with the outside world.
16:57The applications can be
16:59the most varied,
17:01it depends on our imagination.
17:07International experts,
17:09members of governments
17:11of the Mediterranean basin
17:13and international investors
17:15have gathered in Venice
17:17for the Venice Hydrogen Forum,
17:19to discuss the developments.
17:21First of all, the prospects
17:23of a distribution infrastructure
17:25that can connect Europe
17:27and the Mediterranean,
17:29passing through Venice.
17:31Because Venice is one of the places,
17:33of the poles, of the seats
17:35of the strategic reflection
17:37on hydrogen.
17:39In particular,
17:41what we have discussed
17:43is the Mediterranean.
17:45It is an innovative strategy
17:47and it is the north
17:49that consumes,
17:51it is the south that produces
17:53and this is also
17:55an element of geostrategic
17:57cohesion,
17:59in a non-Leonin form,
18:01but in a
18:03equal partnership.
18:05Europe has decided to target
18:07by 2030 a community production
18:09of 10 million tons of
18:11renewable hydrogen
18:13and 10 million tons of imports.
18:15The hydrogen sources of the southern
18:17coast of the Mediterranean
18:19will be connected to the European continent
18:21through 3,300 km of South Corridor ducts.
18:23In this scenario,
18:25Italy has allocated over 3.5 billion euros
18:27for the national production of hydrogen.
18:29The national plan
18:31on hydrogen
18:33involves a series of actions,
18:35of electrolyzers,
18:37of interventions
18:39and at the same time
18:41there is a broader assessment
18:43between Germany
18:45and Austria
18:47to be a hub,
18:49a place of transfer
18:51to the continent
18:53of hydrogen production
18:55that can come from our country
18:57or can come
18:59from North Africa.
19:01One of the main problems
19:03of the hydrogen economy
19:05has always been the higher costs
19:07in production and transport,
19:09but not only.
19:11We think that
19:13ammonia is already being sold,
19:15that in a few years
19:17it will be competitive in itself,
19:19but there are also policies
19:21that help the demand,
19:23that is, the off-takers,
19:25to take the risk of investing.
19:27Hydrogen is a challenging challenge,
19:29explains Gabriele Lucchesi
19:31of Edison Next,
19:33which requires a change of pace
19:35in both European and national
19:37industrial policy.
19:39It is a very important issue
19:41and poses important challenges,
19:43especially in the light of a very rigid
19:45European normative.
19:47The message we want to convey
19:49is that we generally need
19:51a market that does not exist,
19:53that is balanced,
19:55a more flexible and pragmatic approach
19:57to give time to the implementation
19:59of the first projects
20:01and therefore the start
20:03of a hydrogen economy.
20:09Clean Cooking
20:11in the energy sector
20:13Renewable energies
20:15Enigi in the front line
20:17Clean Cooking
20:19Eni brings to the fore
20:21the work carried out
20:23in Mozambique and Angola.
20:25The energy sector
20:27is experiencing a crisis
20:29of its own,
20:31as the wind power
20:33and the solar energy
20:35sectors are working
20:37The development of renewable energies is experiencing exponential growth and represents a decisive lever to achieve the goals of decarbonization and guarantee a sustainable future.
20:48The rapid development of the compartment corresponds to a significant increase in the number of workers involved in the implementation of the plants and increases the attention around the theme of safety at work.
20:58This was discussed at Together for Safety, the meeting organized by ENGIE, the leading company of decarbonization and energy efficiency.
21:07The sector of renewable energies is becoming increasingly important both on the market, also because at the Italian level we have extremely ambitious goals from here to 2030,
21:17and also for ENGIE as a consequence, we are an integrated operator in the entire energy world, and renewables are an increasingly important part of our investments.
21:28It is therefore essential that the issue of safety, which is crucial for us, of our license to operate, is taken into consideration.
21:37ENGIE is carrying out an extremely detailed program for all its businesses and for every activity we do in relation to safety,
21:45which starts with the training of our managers, from the managers to the people on the field, but also involving all our partners who work with us in the plants and not only.
21:54In recent years we have halved the rate of accidents, also thanks to the sensitization that we are carrying out in a maniacal way,
22:03but for us it is very important that our managers, our people on the field, our partners have this issue in mind and are trained to be able to deal with it in the most rigorous and serious way possible.
22:16It was a day of confrontation with institutions and operators of the energy market,
22:21aimed at raising awareness among the actors involved on the fundamental issue of safety at work,
22:26for a sector that between 2022 and 2023 has seen the number of workers involved in the development of wind and photovoltaic plants increase by about 20%,
22:35going from over 13 million to over 16 million.
22:39Yes, we have predicted, from our calculations, a very significant increase in the number of jobs in the world of renewables.
22:46More or less, ENGIE tells us that we should grow between 50 and 60 gigawatts of new plants in Italy,
22:54which means more or less 2,000 construction sites between today and 2030.
22:59We have made the calculation, more or less it means 140 million hours of work in the world of renewables.
23:08So safety is an important issue.
23:11I am very proud of this event because we had a good presence in the market.
23:16It means that there is attention from the market to safety.
23:20I have seen that there are also good practices that have been shared with the various suppliers and players of this event.
23:29So it was really a moment when we were able to grow the feeling that we all have to work together on the issue of safety.
23:39An exhibition at the Maxi Museum in Rome entitled Feel Food, Energy and Life,
23:44to tell the commitment of ENGIE in the field of clean cooking,
23:48that is, the promotion of more efficient and sustainable cooking systems in local communities.
23:53The exhibition project uses the images of photographer Gabriele Galimberti
23:58and immersive video projections to illustrate the work carried out by ENGIE in Mozambique and Angola
24:03in the field of the ENGIE for Clean Cooking program.
24:06Moving from three-legged fire to improved systems, we reduce the use of biomass.
24:13This reduction of biomass allows us, in a voluntary market system of credits,
24:17to generate carbon credits that are then used by ENGIE.
24:21ENGIE undertook a commitment during the Paris Summit last March
24:27to reach 10 million people by 2027 and 20 million by 2030,
24:34which represents today 2% of the population who do not have access to clean cooking in Africa.
24:39Starting in 2025, the program will introduce even more advanced solutions,
24:43aiming to eliminate the use of biomass with obvious environmental and health benefits,
24:47as supported by local organizations for the production
24:52and distribution of improved stoves that collaborate with ENGIE.
24:55The program has a specific goal, which is to provide women with a device,
25:03that is, an improved stove that, on the one hand,
25:08consumes less fuel, that is, less vegetable carbon,
25:12and on the other hand, emits less toxic fumes,
25:17which affect the health of the respiratory system, the skin, the eyes.
25:23Shortening women's time in having to look for fuel and, above all, saving.
25:32In addition to reducing emissions, the initiative has a direct impact
25:36on the health of the communities involved.
25:37Every year, 3.7 million people, especially women and children,
25:42prematurely die from exposure to toxic fumes produced by traditional cooking methods.
25:48The adoption of safer and cleaner technologies, therefore,
25:51not only reduces dependence on biomass,
25:54but also improves the quality of life of millions of people.
25:57It has been very significant and a source of inspiration
26:00to work with ENGIE on this project on improved stoves,
26:03which focuses on health, nutrition and gastronomy.
26:05We have traveled through Africa, distributing clean kitchen stoves.
26:10We are facing some of the negative impacts of cooking in these rural communities,
26:15but we are also collaborating with women on nutrition,
26:18best practices and how they can improve the quality of their food in a more effective way.
26:24I can't wait to see this project expand further in Africa
26:27and discover how many other communities we can reach with this extraordinary project.
