Super7 G.I.JOE Ultimates Roadblock Figure
Transcript
00:00Well, I just finished the review for Major Blood, so Cobra's through, what do we do?
00:04Here's a look at the brand new Super 7 G.I. Joe Ultimates Roadblock Heavy Machine Gunner.
00:30He may not look like it, given his muscular physique, but Roadblock is just as capable
00:44of whipping up a delicate souffle as whipping Cobra tail.
00:47This 7-inch highly articulated G.I. Joe Ultimates Roadblock features detailed sculpting and
00:52premium paint detail inspired by the G.I. Joe animated series, and comes with interchangeable
00:57heads and hands and multiple accessories.
00:59Well, luckily for Roadblock now, he's not having to battle a salad inside the Pit of
01:03Chaos.
01:05Just before, of course, we get a closer look at the brand new G.I. Joe Ultimates Roadblock,
01:08first, the tape measure is going to tell us that the figure stands at seven and a quarter
01:11inches in height, or this Joe is going to stand at 19 centimeters tall.
01:16Yeah, speaking of the Pit of Chaos, one of the unfortunate Joes that were down there
01:19with Roadblock happened to be Flint.
01:22You can also see as well, like Flint's a good example to bring in, because Flint really
01:25suffered from poor paint applications, even lacking paint applications, Roadblock is
01:30such a better looking figure.
01:31In fact, he sets the bar pretty high to the levels of where Duke was, part of the first
01:36wave.
01:37Sadly, no vines come in clue with Roadblock, but he gets a fair bit of stuff.
01:41First, the figure comes with some swappable hands.
01:43I've taken the liberty of removing and changing some of the hands that the figure has right
01:46now.
01:47What I would have started with would have been just regular gripping hands.
01:50I happen to have changed this hand out for the other opposite hand to this.
01:53He comes with a trigger firing finger hand, good for the laser pistol, the blaster, and
01:58of course his more vintage style gun that he also comes included with as well.
02:02The figure also comes included with a larger C-grip hand, which would again be the mirror
02:06flip to this one here.
02:07Good for holding the undercarriage of the vintage gun.
02:10The figure also comes included with a pair of closed fists.
02:13All that exciting?
02:14Not really all that exciting.
02:16And then the figure finally does come included with a pair of gripping hands.
02:19Of the things that though Roadblock can grip, the figure first does come in clue with a
02:22knife.
02:23The knife is a very soft plastic.
02:25In fact, taking it out of the plastic tray couldn't help but notice that the knife was
02:28a little bit more bent.
02:29Since then though, I've taken a few passes with the hair dryer and just tried to do my
02:36best to straighten out the blade.
02:38The blade itself is a little laughable.
02:40I mean, it's pretty thin.
02:41It looks more like a needle than it does a blade.
02:44It does though luckily have a place to store on Roadblock.
02:46You just lift up his arm and locate it on the side.
02:48He has himself a holster, which looking at then the size of the holster and looking at
02:52the size of the blade, you can then understand why the blade was so small.
02:56Just slide that all in.
02:59And it was a little harder at times to kind of get that in there.
03:01In fact, it's actually still a little difficult.
03:03You really feel like you have to push a lot, put a little bit of pressure to get that in
03:06there.
03:07The figure also does come in clue with a pistol.
03:10Pistol molded here all in black plastic.
03:13There is a, there was a little fleck of plastic on there.
03:15I just scraped that off right now.
03:17Nice little gun.
03:18I mean, not one that I'm going to really display with Roadblock, but hey, how about that?
03:22The figure does also have a holster on the adjacent leg.
03:25That's the opposite side that you can take then the pistol and holster that in there
03:28as well.
03:29So he has storage space basically for everything except really for the next thing.
03:33So the figure does also come in clue with a very much GI Joe kind of standard issue
03:37laser rifle that we get in the cartoon.
03:40I think every Joe up to this point, maybe Flint, maybe Flint may have been the exception
03:43to that.
03:44Duke certainly did come with this.
03:45I think also Snake Eyes, maybe even Scarlet as well.
03:49I don't mind at all that we get extra ones of these.
03:51In fact, usually if I want to have them all displayed like the cartoon, I always really
03:55display them with the same laser rifle.
03:56Of course, this does fit into his hand as well.
03:59Being that I did take the time to swap out the hands, just get the hand to hold the rifle.
04:04There we go.
04:05And you can see like it fits perfectly around the trigger while he's holding this and ready
04:09for battle.
04:10The figure does also come included if I can understand, uh, obviously his vintage gun.
04:15Now I never had the original, the original eighties Roadblock.
04:18I had the version two Roadblock that kind of was in the later season with the, with
04:22Serpentor Arise, Serpentor Arise, and also of course, GI Joe, the movie.
04:26This was your face.
04:27You remember him down in the sewer with a Cobra commander, what's left of him at least.
04:32Nice little Gatling gun.
04:33It's not really, again, a Gatling gun.
04:34It's just a very large barreled gun, but he does have, of course, the gun belt there,
04:37the bullet belt there on the side.
04:40This doesn't attach to anything though.
04:42If you're looking at like the vintage backpack, which is nice to see that they actually included
04:45this.
04:47I think that there may have been a little slot, a slit somewhere on the side that this
04:50could have attached onto, but it really isn't like an ammunition backpack.
04:54It's basically just more of a hiking backpack.
04:56I think I, I feel like there was, Oh, maybe there was, there was, I think on the original
05:01vintage toy, a section that you could remove.
05:03Can you remove it on here?
05:05I don't feel like you can.
05:06It almost looks like you, it looks like you could detach it, but I think if I'm only going
05:10to pull it, probably going to be, it's probably going to break right off.
05:13Yeah.
05:14Why is that?
05:15It's supposed to be a separate piece and yet I can't pry that off.
05:18I'm going to leave it.
05:19I'm going to leave it the way that it is right now.
05:21You may notice that there is also a peg.
05:23Now the peg doesn't do really anything for the gun itself, but it does do a lot for the
05:26gun's tripod stand.
05:29The original toy would have had this from the eighties as well.
05:31Now there's a hole here on the top.
05:33You can take, obviously the peg on the bottom, you already know where this is going.
05:36You can attach the two just like that.
05:39Now he has this larger, very large, destructive looking gun that can be attached onto the
05:44tripod.
05:45Just again, like the original vintage toy.
05:47What you can also do too, is take that same hole, line it up to the peg that's on the
05:52back of the backpack and that just slots in place.
05:54So it's storage space for everything.
05:57The backpack can also go on the back of Roblox back, if you could believe that Jack.
06:01I'm going to just go ahead and slide that off.
06:04Roblox was all about rhyming as well.
06:06Like every, every, everything he said was always a rhyme.
06:09Go ahead and take the backpack.
06:10Now the pack does have straps on the back.
06:13The original toy would have only had a peg here.
06:16And then that also would have gone very awkwardly into the back of the Joe.
06:20A lot less painful now.
06:21Obviously the only thing you have to do is just take the straps, feed them up his arms,
06:26just like that on either side, and then just bring the arms around.
06:30The only thing it does though, add is it adds some additional weight on the back of his
06:33body.
06:34Now I already have a problem with Roblox standing.
06:36I don't know what it is about his ankles.
06:38He just doesn't seem to balance all that well.
06:41The thing at least about it is that all the Joes have pegs on the bottoms of their feet.
06:44Peg holes, that is.
06:45So if you wanted to, you probably could use yourself a display stand.
06:49I might just end up ultimately displaying him with a stand, even though the figure doesn't
06:52come included with one.
06:54So let's go ahead and actually just take the backpack off right now.
06:56With all the work I just finished doing that, let's just take that all off.
07:00Strange really that the bottom of the backpack looks like it could be removed.
07:03But see how it wiggles back and forth?
07:06But it definitely looks like it's, definitely looks like if I'm going to pull this off,
07:10it's going to potentially break a peg.
07:11I'm not saying it isn't removable because I was kind of fiddling around with it earlier.
07:14And I'm like, does that remove?
07:16I almost feel like it does.
07:18We're going to put that off to the side though.
07:19And the one other thing that Roblox does also have is obviously two other swappable heads.
07:24He does also happen to have a helmet.
07:26My only real issue with the helmet though is at least its size for the head.
07:30But I feel like if you're putting it on top of Roblox's head as it is, just fit that over
07:34top of his ears, the way that these heads are hand painted, I would imagine, or probably
07:39at least factory painted, I would worry that that's going to scrape the plastic.
07:44Now it also gives him a very laughably large looking helmet.
07:48I feel like it's maybe a little too big, but again, like if you're putting it over top
07:52of his head, that's going to, yeah, right there.
07:55You can see it hasn't, it hasn't done it to the point where I'm worried about it, but
08:00you can see that, yeah, it's starting to scrape the paint on the sides of his ears.
08:05No go.
08:06Probably going to leave that off altogether.
08:08It just happened to have come with this head sculpt, which is really weird because you
08:11would think that they would have simply just given him an alternate head that would have
08:14already had the helmet.
08:15It would have done, benefited by two things.
08:18First of all, it would have made the helmet look a little bit more size to his head and
08:20not as big as it is right now.
08:23And it also would have prevented scraping as you can probably see.
08:26Is it there right now?
08:28It looks like there's a little bit, just a little nick on the side of his ear.
08:31That's problematic.
08:32So a few other things that are a little problematic about this figure that we'll talk more about
08:35in a moment.
08:37By the way, though, the figure's defaulted head is one of the best of the three.
08:41Just a neutral expression for his face.
08:42If you like, though, your roadblock to be more smiling as he's making a plate of gumbo,
08:46then he has this head sculpt also as well.
08:49Either one of these would be prime candidates for how I'm going to display the figure on
08:52the shelf.
08:53He does also have this head sculpt, which if anything could be said, this would have
08:58been the head I would have just permanently molded the helmet on top of.
09:01I don't know why they felt the need to have the helmet separate or at the very least,
09:06I don't think it needed to be as hard of a plastic as this.
09:08If they made it a little bit softer, who am I kidding?
09:10It still looks laughably large on top of Roadblock's head.
09:13If you did want to change out the head, it's just a case of holding onto the torso.
09:18Just popping the head off.
09:19Now, I had a harder time, honestly, with Major Blood.
09:21We just recently looked at Major Blood here on this channel.
09:24It looks a little odd, decapitated roadblock.
09:25Let's put the head back in place.
09:27This head was actually a lot easier to change out.
09:31It sits, though, admittingly, a little loose.
09:33I don't know why that's causing it such loosage, because simply, I mean, it's just
09:36attaching onto the ball socket, but there's a smiling roadblock.
09:41Doesn't look at all like The Rock, does it?
09:43Anyways, though, for the rest of Roadblock's body, being that this is version one Roadblock,
09:47we have ourselves a camo printed tank top and then very bright looking orange slacks.
09:53One problem, and this is a problem that you really will have to pay attention to, is the
09:57way they've handled the bandolier strap on the other side.
10:00First of all, he's got these little grenades, so don't pull these off.
10:02First of all, they're not removable.
10:03Second of all, you're going to blow everyone to kingdom come.
10:06That isn't the issue, although we shouldn't really laugh off grenades.
10:09The bigger issue really relies on the lower half of his body here.
10:13Roadblock has a ab crunch, which is very tough, tough to bend.
10:18He also has a waist swivel, and when I took this guy out of the packaging, the first thing
10:22I wanted to do is kind of get an understanding of how everything moved on the figure, and
10:26when I got to the abdomen, I started to twist it, and sure enough, this side, as you can
10:31see, twists fine.
10:33This side, on the other hand, I don't know if you can see that or not, this bottom of
10:38the strap, on mine at least, is attached to the abdomen.
10:41I don't know if you can see that.
10:43If I pull this away, it looks like there's a little bit of glue or something.
10:47I could probably even just pull this away a little bit, but when I was first moving
10:51this around, these straps, maybe not as much this one, but this one here, stayed to the
10:57body.
10:58When I started to turn it, it started to pull down below here, where this is attached to
11:02the belt.
11:04Double check this before you start moving your Roadblock around.
11:07If it seems at all that it's attached down below, even if it's just a little bit of
11:11paint, even if it's just a little bit of glue, even if it's just a little bit of something
11:15that's keeping this attached to the rest of his body, make sure that this is separate,
11:19because of course, the moment you start to turn this, you're going to rip these right
11:22off.
11:23Again, all in all, a nice looking figure.
11:26I'm glad to see that Roadblock got painted as much as he did.
11:30Again, it only is more of a painful reminder that my all-time favorite GI Joe had to be
11:34Flint.
11:35It couldn't be anywhere else.
11:36It couldn't have been, I don't know, Lifeline.
11:38I never really liked Lifeline, which reminds me as well, I never picked up still the Super
11:43Seven GI Joe Ultimates dock, got to get my hands on dock at some point, but why did it
11:46have to be such an inferior paint on Flint?
11:49Roadblock, though, again, sets the bar pretty high.
11:52It's right up there, I feel, with Duke.
11:54Now for the figure's articulation, going back to the head that we changed out earlier,
11:58head's going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate all the way around.
12:01The head can look up and look down, and it can also move back and forth as well.
12:06The waist, providing you're kind of cautious to where everything is attached, normally
12:09should be able to rotate back and forth.
12:11He does also have an ab crunch, but it's really stiff on this figure, and I don't
12:15want to start fighting things.
12:17The arms do rotate all the way around, both sides.
12:19You can also as well bring Roadblock's arms out.
12:22There's a swivel at the bicep.
12:24There is, again, only the single hinge on the elbow.
12:26I know a lot of people just don't like why Super 7 could not have added a double hinge
12:30on their elbows, but he only has a single hinge, sad to say, on his elbow, but it allows
12:34at least the forearm to rotate, and the hands rotate all the way around.
12:37The legs split out, a little more on the tighter side.
12:41You can also as well take the legs and move forward, move them back.
12:43There's that swivel at the top of the thigh.
12:46Single hinge on the knee.
12:47No real rotation down below here for the lower leg, but there is at least rotation here for
12:51the boots.
12:52There's an ankle pivot up and down, and an ankle rocker back and forth.
12:56But something about Roadblock, I don't know why, I can't seem to get him to stand straight
13:00and flat.
13:01I go back, I flatten out his feet as best I can get him.
13:05I mean, the joints were really tight, though, on the figure when I took him out of the packaging,
13:09but he keeps wanting to either be angled up like this, or if I bring it down, then it
13:14angles too low.
13:15You almost kind of have to put him on the shelf and then just flatten out his feet when
13:18you do that.
13:20Still, it just seems like Roadblock doesn't seem to stand all that well.
13:24Again, I'm probably going to have to bring back into display stand, I think, when we
13:27get to the final looks of the figure.
13:29But all in all, despite that, and a little worrisome issues that I had maybe with the
13:34straps that he has on the front of his body, again, one of the best GI Joes we've got.
13:39I think right after Duke, Duke was still my favorite.
13:42I would say Roadblock right after that is my next favorite.
13:45Still wish, though, that they could have put as much effort and time that they did into
13:48Roadblock that they could have done also to Flint, Lady J.
13:52I feel like even Scarlet, Scarlet probably could have been a little bit better.
13:56Roadblock has one of the more cartoon accurate head sculpts, and I think his body works as
14:00well as well.
14:01Whether you had the original vintage toy in your collection, or like myself, you had version
14:062 Roadblock.
14:07And he was always really my favorite look for Roadblock because, again, that's the Roadblock
14:11during the Rise of Pentera Rise.
14:12That's also the more iconic Roadblock when he has to deal with what's left of Cobra Commander.
14:18I wonder what chances there are that Super 7 is going to release a GI Joe Ultimates of
14:21Honolulu West.
14:23That's who Roadblock then finds when he jumps on top of a Cobra truck, who ends up apparently
14:27being the trucks of Honolulu.
14:29Come on, Super 7, give us a Honolulu West.
14:32Funny though enough, though, the original early episodes of the Sunbow series never
14:36really had Roadblock rhyming.
14:38But when he said stuff, it would always sound like he was ready to sing a song.
14:42Later though, Roadblock seemed to adopt the rhymes.
14:45I don't know why, but between version 1 and version 2 Roadblock, he learned the method
14:49of rhyming.
14:50Now, when it comes to this figure release, obviously this is version 1 Roadblock.
14:53I love the color scheme of him.
14:55It very much looks like he does in the cartoon.
14:58Accessory wise, even though he really doesn't have anything you could really pinpoint and
15:01say, hey, I saw that in an episode, he has at least the things that the original vintage
15:05toy would have had.
15:06So if you like the large green gun and also the tripod, all of those things come packed
15:10along with this figure.
15:11It's still a little strange that the bottom part of that backpack looks like it wants
15:15to come off.
15:16I didn't really want to fight it because I know the moment it broke, then I would say
15:19to myself, why would you have just done that?
15:21You should have just left it the way that it was.
15:24I'm glad, though, I got the chance to finally pick up Roadblock.
15:26Now, I wonder, though, if we're going to be getting Mutt and Junkyard, those would be
15:30the other ones that were in the pit of chaos, along with Flint.
15:34Certainly, guys, let me know down below in the comment section what you guys think of
15:37Roadblock.
15:38I think we would put him pretty high, honestly, of what we've gotten so far from Super Seven
15:42and G.I.
15:43Joe Ultimates.
15:44Roadblock would be more in the successful category, along with Duke, not the not-so-successful
15:50pile along with Lady J and Flint.
15:54If you guys are interested, though, by the way, to get your hands on Roadblock, he is
15:57available right now as we speak at Entertainment Earth.
16:01I can put the link down below in the video description.
16:03If you guys are interested, that same link will save you 10% on anything G.I.
16:07Joe or otherwise, as long as it's in stock.
16:10Let me know what you guys think of this figure.
16:11Let me know down below in the comment section.
16:13And what's your favorite G.I.
16:15Joe miniseries?
16:16I spent a whole lot of time talking about the Weather Dominator, but what's your favorite
16:20G.I.
16:21Joe miniseries?
16:22I know there's several to choose from.
16:23There's the Masked Device, the Weather Dominator, the Pyramid of Darkness, Arise, Sepenta, Arise,
16:27and of course, there was also Operation Dragonfire.
16:30Operation Dragonfire was sort of the segue that went into the Deke series of G.I.
16:34Joe.
16:35It was a dark day for G.I.
16:36Joe cartoon fans.
16:37If you guys did enjoy this video though, do it a solid, throw it a like.
16:40You guys want to stick around for more so?
16:41I hope so.
16:42Hit the subscribe, turn on that bell, and of course, come back.
16:44As always, thanks for watching.
16:46See you guys next time.
