00:00Here's Kyle Shanahan's call today. It always starts with the injury update and by the way, it is
00:08Long and and distinguished. All right guys injuries from the game. Kevin Givens did have a torn pec
00:16I'll end up going to IR. Christian McCaffrey was a PCL
00:20Shouldn't need surgery, but still about a six-week recovery
00:24So I'll be going to IR also and the surprise one from the game was JT Mason ended up having a high ankle sprain
00:30So he's gonna have to go to IR most likely also and that's it from the game
00:34But what is the plan at running back? Obviously you have Garendo, but will you have to be adding some people in that position?
00:41Yeah, we you know, we have Garendo. Obviously, he'll be up. We got Patrick here was on a was on a practice squad
00:46We'll definitely be bumped up now
00:48who was you know on our roster earlier in the year before Christian came back and
00:52We'll most likely have to look for another
00:55How do you have any updates on the other guys who were injured before the game?
00:59Nick Trent. Yeah, I'll hit them all here
01:02Banks is still in the protocol Elliot still in the protocol
01:07Playing again fouls with his knee. He'll be a day-to-day this week
01:10Demo with his knee. We're expecting to get back in practice on Wednesday
01:14Nick
01:15Same thing. We'll have to evaluate him and trim Turner kind of the same boat. We're gonna have to evaluate as the week goes
01:21And then I our guys Greenlaw will continue to practice and how far we plan on opening up in his practice
01:27When so here window here on Wednesday the first talent goes would he have to play with some sort of device or cast or support?
01:34On those wrists. Yeah, he's gonna have to have something on it. He's tried a few things out
01:38I'm exactly sure exactly what he's gonna have but you have some things on it and see how that goes this week
01:43Also news came out about Trent Williams
01:46And his wife losing their children
01:50And is he going to take some time off for that as well
01:52He did a little bit of that last week, you know something that happened that last week and
01:57you know, he was there at the hospital with her and
02:01Got to meet him and say bye
02:04And then he had a cremate him on Friday, so he's been dealing with that and he's working through it
02:09But we're all just trying to be here for him. I'll do it all
02:13What one of the decision to make a dog the backup to a party last night?
02:18Just the type of game that we thought it could be we had a feeling all week. Just looking at the forecast and
02:24we we knew it'd be more of a running game and
02:28We wanted his that element added to it. We thought it could help in that way
02:31Now as far as football goes it seems like it's just a common theme of self-inflicted mistakes that have been going on
02:38I don't know how you address that or how you change that. I know it's different mistakes every week
02:44How do you how do you actually try to make those adjustments I
02:49Mean when it's different things as you know, it's not really just an adjustment that you gotta keep coaching
02:55You got to keep challenging guys
02:57When if a guy continues to do the same mistakes, you got to try to find a different guy to put in there
03:02You know, it's all of the above so stuff. We're continuing to work out. We haven't done it done
03:07But it's one area in particular. So we got to work on getting more turnovers
03:12Obviously, we got to work on protecting the ball better which came in three different ways
03:15You know one on the goal and one on kick return one on the slip ball throwing
03:20Which killed us there in the second half similar to Green Bay, but it's not one in particular. So a lot of things going to it
03:28Kyle, how do you process the real-life issues that you've had with with Trent and Mooney as a
03:36coach and as someone you know as
03:39responsible for a team and
03:41Get through that stuff with them and stuff that we do every day, you know
03:45I mean, it's not not to the extreme and you got to deal with tragedies like like this
03:49It's um, you know, it's it's hard as a coach. It's hard as a friend. It's it's hard as a family member
03:55It's hard for everybody
03:56But we spend a lot of time with each other and that's what's cool about a football team
04:01Whatever you go through the good or the bad
04:04We go through it together and I do like for those guys because I do like that
04:09They have this they have a group of guys
04:10They can go to a group of guys that could see him every day and you can't ever escape that full grief and stuff
04:15But I do think it's nice for those guys to have another avenue to get out on the football field to get around teammates
04:21And things like that
04:23You know, I thought it was a huge step by Mooney this week just from a personal level. I mean no one really
04:29Something like that happens. You don't really want to jump back into anything
04:31you got to kind of make yourself and I was real proud of him fighting through this week and even though it's hard and
04:38I'm sure he didn't always want to do it
04:40But he got through the week of practice got through the game and I think that was a real step for him
04:45just going forward with those life and
04:48that's the thing everybody's got to do in those situations, but
04:51it's nice when you have a football team and stuff that you have a group of guys that
04:55You're around every day and that you're close with that can help you through it
04:59It's your understanding that Trent wants to get back out there when he's healthy. Oh
05:03Yeah, definitely Trent's really trying to get back out here
05:06We just got just the his ankle isn't healing the way we want, you know, we can't get the swelling down and stuff
05:12so that's why you know, it's that's why I'd like to say it's day-to-day week to week because
05:17We're expecting the swelling to go down and everything. It just hasn't so we're trying to be patient with it
05:22I know he's being patient with it. And hopefully it'll take a turn in the right direction this week, but
05:27There's it hasn't yet, you know, so there's no guarantees
05:30When you look at all the issues with the team and how heavy this feels all the different issues and the injuries
05:36How do you keep everybody focused and you know at a level where they can compete on the field on a Sunday?
05:42Um, I mean that's you have to that's that's the challenge lots of things going on life
05:49But everybody does have a job to do and so you got to respect those challenges
05:52You got to respect what people are going through
05:55But you gotta also help pull people together to do their job
05:58And you know, we're a team that counts on everybody, but I don't think it's much different in the business world either
06:04People go through a lot of stuff and but whatever their line of work is they just have a responsibility to do so
06:10we all understand that fully and how hard it can be on someone and I do think in a
06:15Sports atmosphere in a team atmosphere kind of like what I was saying earlier
06:18It's nice for those guys to you know to have a team and stuff. They can be around and not feel as alone
06:24But you know, that's not gonna
06:26You know, no one's gonna judge your team off of that
06:28They're gonna judge it off of wins and losses and those games come once a week and you got to put your plan together
06:33You got to practice as hard as you can and you got to get 48 guys out there on the field and uniform
06:37they're gonna help you win and
06:39Like with injuries, you can't always count on everybody whether it's an injury or whether something tragic that happened
06:44You know people are gonna go through some stuff and when that happens, we got to have another guy step it up
06:48I would have a defense's play to have you been pleased and satisfied with the way Nick's been calling games
06:55Yeah, I'm very satisfied with Nick, I mean I'm not at all satisfied with the results and how it's going right now but
07:01You know some of the mistakes that we've made. I don't think or what's happened here in these last two weeks
07:06I don't think that's a schematic issue
07:08It's um
07:09It's a little bit more of a fundamental issue and that also
07:12Starts with me that goes to all coaching and it goes down to the players. It goes to everyone in this building
07:16so but um
07:18You know the results here these last two weeks haven't changed my opinion on Nick
07:24Airport
07:25There's already a pretty trying season for Christian before this. He talked about the frustration
07:30Have you had a chance to talk to him and just see where he is after the latest injury?
07:35No, I haven't got a chance to talk to him
07:37Just getting back, you know
07:38At 30 in the morning last night and just getting all this stuff finished up here a little bit ago
07:42And I know he's been getting his MRIs and everything. So I'll connect with him here this afternoon
07:46But I know it's you know, and I just feel for him, you know, he
07:50You know, it was a real frustrating year for him
07:53he worked his ass off to get back to this point and I
07:56Think he was really feeling good and about to take off and just had that real unfortunate injury last night
08:01So I know he's as crushed as anyone
08:04But he'll get through this. He's a hell of a player a little person and
08:08An unbelievable 49er and I'll be back strong stronger than ever next year to help us
08:13Will Brock Purdy be limited in practice this week or is he full go? Nah Brock's full go
08:19He didn't even come in for rehab today, so
08:22Brock's fine
08:24You said last night this team isn't as good as I guess some of the others which I guess by the record would be like
08:31Yeah
08:31Did you mean from a talent perspective?
08:34You mean when you consider all the injuries and and who's out there right now or he's probably more context what you meant
08:40I'm just answering a question that you know when I constantly get asked about you know
08:45This is a thing I got asked is this team not have the same fight as last year's team and
08:49you know everything goes to the team the year before and I was just trying to put implied this isn't last year's team and
08:54and so I wanted a reason for why our record isn't as good as last year's and
09:00When it's asked about fighting and stuff, that's you know, I kind of I don't see it at all that way
09:05I was making the point that that this isn't last year's team last year's team was obviously a better team
09:10I'm not saying just from the roster
09:12I'm just saying from the beginning to end the way we started out the way we felt felt in training camp
09:18Throughout the whole year. We've been trying to build that with this team
09:22We've had times where we felt that we were on our on the right path to it
09:27And then we've had some setbacks that I think it's always been one step forward two steps back and we really haven't had the
09:33We really haven't grasped the full potential of this year's team
09:36And that's why I don't like comparing it to last year's team or the year before
09:40Thank You Kyle
09:42All right guys, yeah, thank you
09:45Appreciate it. What'd you make all that? It's a lot there
09:48I mean the injuries are a dramatic list and you can hear the sadness in his voice when he's talking about Trent
