00:00In Yemen, Israeli air attack on Sana'a Airport, where the head of the World Health Organization
00:16was about to embark.
00:21Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the cooperation with his partners of the Russian
00:26Economic Union in the framework of the bloc's summit taking place in St. Petersburg.
00:35And the Haitian government faces a new crisis as floods have ravaged the countryside in
00:39what constitutes one of the worst natural disasters recorded in the Caribbean nation's
00:44history.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra García from Telesur Studios in
00:54Havana, Cuba.
00:55Let's begin with the news.
01:14In Yemen, an Israeli air attack on Sana'a Airport, where the head of the World Health
01:19Organization was about to embark, took place.
01:21The senior official of the World Health Organization reported that the attack killed two people
01:27and wounded one inside the airport.
01:29In this regard, he pointed out that the air traffic control tower at the departure lounge
01:35and the runway were damaged.
01:37Meanwhile, on the same day, Israeli bombings were reported against two power plants oiled
01:42installations in northern Yemen.
01:53The Israeli troops killed five Palestinian journalists early Thursday morning at the
01:57Al-Awda Hospital located in the Nusayrat refugee camp.
02:01Faisal Abu Kinsan, Oumar Al-Jadi, Ibrahim Sejali, Fadi Hassouna and Mohamed Al-Lada
02:08were journalists of the Al-Quds television channel from where the massacre was confirmed.
02:13According to the Palestinian media, the mobile unit was hit while the reporters were carrying
02:19out informative work.
02:21The attack has caused damage to the hospital and one of its doctors was seriously wounded
02:25in the midst of the heavy explosion.
02:28The genocidal troops once again justified these war crimes by linking the victims to
02:32the Palestinian resistance.
02:38After the massacre carried out by Israeli genocidal forces that deliberately targeted
02:43and killed five journalists working outside the Al-Awda Hospital, we contact our colleague
02:49Huda Hegassi with all the information from the ground.
02:52Once again, the Israeli army has committed another atrocious massacre, but this time
03:01not against the civilian population, but against the journalists, the workers of the media.
03:10This morning, at half past one, the occupation army bombed the civilian bus belonging to
03:16the Palestinian Al-Quds channel.
03:20Inside, there were at least five journalists, as well as cameras and various media materials.
03:30As we can see, the vehicle has been completely destroyed.
03:35The attack even occurred directly targeting them.
03:39This bus was parked in front of Al-Awda Hospital, which is the only hospital that is active
03:44in al-Nusrat's central government.
03:50As we can see, there is literally no trace of the car.
03:55These five journalists have been completely burned.
03:59There is not even a trace of them.
04:02We can say that right now, the occupation army has sent a clear message, and that is
04:07that there are no red lines.
04:14It has attacked these journalists directly and intentionally, increasing the number of
04:19journalists killed to 201 during this genocidal Israeli war.
04:29And as we can see, the Israeli army has no red lines.
04:34Even when this car was parked in front of this hospital, it was directly bombed by the
04:38Israeli army.
04:43Now we will speak with our colleague Mahmoud Alloh, who was here in this hospital at the
04:48time of the incident, so that he can tell us exactly what happened.
04:55As usual, during the journalistic work at this point, we have at the Al-Awda Hospital
05:00a point of journalistic coverage.
05:03At around 1.30 a.m., the Israeli occupation forces shelled the hospital and we woke up
05:08to the sound of a loud explosion.
05:11We saw the fire burning through the vehicle, and inside were five journalists who worked
05:15for the Al-Quds TV network.
05:18We were surprised to see the bodies completely burned and charred.
05:23We were unable to save them or get them out of the car, until the firemen arrived and
05:27put out the fire.
05:30The scene was frightening.
05:32And the Israeli army knows very well this was a journalist vehicle, that is very easy
05:37to set apart for its press banners.
05:40Inside were kamaras and material and everything has been destroyed.
05:44This is not the first massacre.
05:47Last week the army murdered our comrade Ahmad Alloh.
05:51And before that, other 196 journalists.
05:55We are now talking about more than 200 dead journalists and a large number of journalists
06:00have also been wounded at this war for the mere fact of working in Gaza.
06:05What is your message in the face of this continuous attack against the press?
06:12Our message is clear.
06:16And it's directed at the international community and all the human rights organizations on
06:20the necessity of pressuring Israel to stop this war on the Gaza Strip that is targeting
06:25civilians, children as well as journalists.
06:31And the need to protect the Palestinian journalists.
06:37We have no weapons, we only have this helmet that has been burnt by the Israeli actions.
06:45We ask for protection for the journalists and sanctions to Israel for their war crimes.
06:54As our colleague has just assured us, the Israeli regime was perfectly aware that in
06:59this vehicle there were journalists.
07:03They also knew that it was being used for the journalist work and it still targeted
07:08it directly in the first hours of the morning.
07:12Also as our comrade has assured us, the images were dreadful.
07:17The victims were completely burnt due to the fire set off by the bombing and, therefore,
07:23the message, after over 14 months is that the Israeli regime, is that the Israeli regime
07:29is deliberately attacking journalists.
07:32They do not want us to continue doing our job.
07:37That is why the message today from all Gazan journalists is that we will continue doing
07:42our job.
07:43We will continue with our work of transmitting to the world and what we ask for is international
07:48protection.
07:49We are just doing our job and we want to do it safely, with a sense of security that we
07:55sadly do not have.
07:57And our fear is that at any given moment we could be the next ones murdered by the Israeli
08:02army.
08:03The Lebanese army denounced the violation by Israel on the ceasefire agreement in force
08:12since November 27th.
08:14This way Lebanon's armed forces, which is monitoring the ceasefire implementation in
08:18coordination with the United Nations Interim Force UNIFIL, condemned the destruction of
08:23villages and towns in the south of the country in violation of the nation's sovereignty.
08:29In this context, authorities have increased their alerts at several checkpoints due to
08:34the presence of Israeli military units in the surrounding areas.
08:38Precisely in the capital Beirut, several border crossings with Israel were closed after multiple
08:43attacks by the Tel Aviv regime.
08:50Resistance forces of the ousted Syrian government mounted an overnight operation, annihilating
08:56over 10 security personnel of the terrorist administration in the western governorates
09:01of Tartus.
09:02The terrorist Hajjaj Tahrir al-Sham HTS collision has toppled al-Bashar al-Assad's cabinet.
09:09Resistance forces mounted an overnight raid, killing 14 security personnel of the Interior
09:14Ministry.
09:15The appointed minister Mohammed Abdul Raham confirmed so, adding that others 10 HTS officials
09:23had been injured.
09:24Moreover, clashes bursted out when the extremist regime tried to perform arbitrary unreasonable
09:30searches and seizures of houses.
09:54Welcome back to From the South.
10:08Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation
10:13with his partners of the Russian Economic Union in the framework of the Block Summit
10:17taking place in St. Petersburg on Thursday, during the gathering where member countries
10:22presented the results of the year 2024, the Russian leader expressed his interest in intensifying
10:29the joint work of the nations to strengthen their partnership globally.
10:34In addition, the leaders discussed the construction of regional integration and addressed cooperation
10:39in various fields.
10:40In this context, President Putin noted the development of the alliance, which was formed
10:45as one of the independent and self-sufficient centers of the multipolar world.
10:53On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a press conference with national
10:59and international journalists covering key aspects of the international scene.
11:04Regarding the conflict with Ukraine, the Russian diplomat stated that achieving definitive
11:09legal agreements that guarantee the security of Russia and its neighbor countries is key.
11:15Lavrov also stressed the need for Syria to remain an independent country and stated that
11:21Israel should refrain from solving its geopolitical problems at the expense of the war-torn country.
11:28Regarding Latin America and the Caribbean, the minister assured that Russian relations
11:32with the region are based in mutual respect and cooperation.
11:36He also stated that Western powers need to overcome their loss of power in the transition
11:42to a multipolar world.
11:45So a multipolar world definitely would take for granted that other Western colleagues
11:57also participate without a doubt.
12:00But how can they position themselves, whether they will get through that psychological loss
12:07of domination that they enjoyed for half a century?
12:10All that depends on their political culture and their real sound understanding of their
12:16place in this real life and their ability to act accordingly, in accordance to their
12:23needs.
12:25In this context, the Russian Foreign Minister also highlighted the relevance of the BRICS
12:29bloc in this new world scene.
12:32The popularity of BRICS is immense and enormous.
12:36A delegation of 35 nations attended the BRICS summit in Kazan and six multinational, multilateral
12:43international organizations attended, including the UN Secretary General, and that speaks
12:49of a high clout of BRICS and the fact that the interest to pursue a rapprochement with
12:59BRICS by another international entity.
13:04The President of Panama, José Raúl Molino, assured that Chinese military is not interfering
13:09in the Panama Canal.
13:10The statements of the Panamanian leader responded to the allegations of the US President-elect
13:15Donald Trump on the alleged presence of Chinese military personnel in the Central American
13:20country.
13:21Likewise, Molino ratified his administration's will to foster all foreign investments, no
13:26matter their nationality.
13:28The President also reaffirmed his country's sovereignty, underscoring that no foreign
13:33company has the authority to make decisions regarding the canal.
13:40There is absolutely no Chinese interference or participation in anything related to the
13:47Panama Canal.

14:24Welcome back to From the South.
14:26The Haitian government faces a new crisis as floods have ravaged the countryside in
14:31what constitutes one of the worst natural disasters recorded in the Caribbean nation's
14:36history.
14:37In turn, in the past 72 hours, civil protection authorities confirmed 13 deaths, 15 injured
14:43and one missing.
14:44Steady rainfalls are especially hitting the northern region, where farmers' bastions
14:49of rural economy have lost almost all their crops, while irrigation systems are practically
14:55inoperable.
14:56In addition, official reports inform that over 500 houses have been fully destroyed
15:01and 16,515 have been flooded.
15:04In this context, authorities have yet to provide figures for the material damages in the also
15:10affected north, northwest Grandians and Nipes region.
15:19In Ecuador, the relatives of the four miners who disappeared in a forced manner in Guayaquil
15:25came to provide data for a forensic comparison.
15:28The finding of four corpses in the area of Taura in the province of Guayas has required
15:33the families to provide data to carry out anthropological examinations.
15:37These bodies were found in the same area where the children were illegally transferred by
15:41military personnel in an operation that was part of President Daniel Novoa's plan to
15:47combat crime.
15:48The Ecuadorian government is being strongly questioned for trying to hide the operation
15:53and for repeated human rights violations.
16:01This is precisely one of the investigative techniques that the Prosecutor's Office must
16:05use to locate them, in addition to facilitating the identification of the individuals from
16:11the given hints.
16:17Afterwards, experts will take radiographic samples and they'll perform the legal medical
16:21autopsy, which corresponds to the type of death these victims had.
16:28However, we cannot confirm yet that these remains belong to the four miners, since experts
16:33are still examining, so they have to look at age, ethnicity and other traits provided
16:38in the anthropological interview.
16:41In this context, the Executive Director of the non-governmental organization Human Rights
16:46of Guayaquil, Billy Navarrete, described as serious Novoa's governmental actions ranging
16:52from the cover-up of the four's disappearances to intimidating the families of the missing
16:56miners.
17:02Here, some representatives of the state of Ecuador abducted the children, they mistreated
17:09them, and finally they enforced their disappearance.
17:13These are offenses condemned by all the Ecuadorian jurisprudence and the international law as
17:19serious human rights violations, and the most severe form of torture, not only for victims,
17:24but also for their families, as they suffer every day from hoping to see their loved ones
17:28come back alive.
17:34In addition, in this case there is a particular situation that strongly points to a forced
17:39disappearance, which always entails the cover-up by official institutions of those perpetrating
17:44the crime.
17:50For instance, while we were on a session at the public prosecutor's office, a patrol
17:54of the national police pulled over in front of the house of one of the victim's families,
17:59and they took photos of the house's exterior, and of the vehicle, in which they commute
18:03to work.
18:05These are intimidating inappropriate actions that have no place here.
18:10In Argentina, during the year of Javier Milet's presidency, only 14 sentences were handed
18:16down in crimes against humanity, the lowest number in the last 10 years.
18:21Federal prosecutor María Ángeles Ramos, in charge of the report, stated that since
18:262006, when the trials for crimes against humanity were reactivated, 1,195 perpetrators have
18:33been convicted.
18:35The trials aim to hold military officials accountable for their participation in the
18:39disappearance and torture of civilians during the country's last civic military dictatorship.
18:45However, in 2025, only 20 people were convicted and 12 were acquitted.
18:51Experts point out that the low production of sentences coincides with the coming to
18:55power of a government that denies and justifies the crimes of the dictatorship.
