00:00Israel strikes in northern part of the Nusra Refugee Camp, killed at least 60 civilians
00:13and wounded several others.
00:25In Russia, the government affirms that a social operation in Ukraine means to establish lasting
00:31peace in the region.
00:40In Venezuela, Alba's social movement meets in Caracas on the occasion of the 20th anniversary
00:45of the regional alliance.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the TELESUR headquarters
00:59in Caracas, Venezuela.
01:01We will get the news, so stay with us.
01:20Israeli forces continue their genocidal offensive against Palestine after launching several
01:26airstrikes against civilians in the center of the Gaza Strip.
01:30Israeli strikes in another part of the Nusra Refugee Camp, killed at least 60 civilians
01:34and wounded several others.
01:36This death comes on top of an early massacre where 33 Palestinians were killed and thousands
01:42wounded after an Israeli bomber men of a residential block in Nusra.
01:47The Palestinian foreign ministry condemned these genocidal attacks and describes them
01:52as a direct consequence of the failure of the international community actions to implement
01:57resolutions on Gaza.
02:04Military clashes between Turkish army and Kurdish forces trigger a stage in the Amiriteyn
02:12northern Iraq.
02:13Briefing reveals that the confrontations include attempts by the Turkish army to reoccupy the
02:21Shia town north of Al-Ahmadi.
02:23The Turkish military reportedly aimed at whipping out a faction of the Kurdistan Workers' Party
02:31and its allies' forces.
02:33The action comes after terrorist groups overthrew the government of the Syrian President Bashar
02:40Al-Assad, threatening an advance to Iraq for mounting incursions against the Arab country.
02:52Georgia has been rocked by mass demonstrations in recent months due to law limits, the activities
02:58offering agents the banning of LGBTQ plus advertising, and most recently the suspension
03:04of the country's integration into the European Union.
03:07Let's see more.
03:08For more than a week, the Georgian opposition has been trying to organize a new Euromaidan.
03:16The police have prevented protesters from camping in the streets and taking over the
03:21parliament, as was done in Kiev in 2014.
03:25The reason is the same.
03:27The Georgian parliament stopped Euro integration and refuses to continue receiving foreign
03:32grants.
03:37Just a year ago, Georgia was considered the most advanced and Western-loved state in the
03:42post-Soviet space, and literally in one year it lost everything.
03:47The Georgian government is becoming unyielding in the face of the Western elite, only because
03:52it dared to take a series of measures consistent with its national interests.
04:00The Georgian opposition, led by President Salome Zurabishvili, a French citizen, refuses
04:06to accept the elections scheduled for December 14, and even called on schoolchildren to take
04:12to the streets as protesters throw firecrackers, stones, and even bottles with explosives at
04:19the police in an attempt to cause bloodshed.
04:25Everything that Zurabishvili does and says is within the logic of the things of the color
04:29revolutions.
04:30He writes in English on his Twitter or Facebook, I don't know what, already the university
04:34students are on strike, and now it's the turn of the schoolchildren, but she denies
04:38having done it.
04:39She says she couldn't ask people to take to the streets, much less schoolchildren.
04:43All in English.
04:44The methodology is this, the president writes in English, then the Georgian media translates
04:48and broadcasts it in Georgian, but she is now playing the fool.
04:56We are facing a new attempt of color revolution with a tried and tested script in different
05:01scenarios in the post-Soviet space, barricades, noise with pots, European deputies with orange
05:08scars, all led by local public figures trained in the West and open defenders of Western
05:14interests in their country.
05:20In Georgia, there is simply a color revolution going on.
05:24There, non-pro-Russian forces came to power through legal and completely democratic and
05:29legitimate procedures.
05:31They are supporters of Georgia's sovereignty.
05:35But those who are now raging against them in the streets are foreign agents who also
05:38opposed the decision to recognize foreign agents.
05:41They are degenerates, perverts, and tools of this liberal world elite who are organizing
05:46this to overthrow the lawful government of Georgia.
05:53Georgia is currently fighting for its sovereignty.
05:56It is clear that demonstrators wrapped in European Union, Ukrainian, and U.S. flags
06:01seek to turn their country into a subject of the West to serve as an instrument in its
06:06war against Russia.
06:08One more country to bleed with cheap cannon fodder and great wealth.
06:13In other words, just another Ukraine.
06:15Let's take a very short break, but remember, you can join us on our Tiktok account at Telesur

06:53Welcome back from the South.
06:55The Russian government affirms that the special operation in Ukraine aims to establish lasting
06:59peace in the region.
07:00Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pesko said that in order to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict,
07:05it is necessary to implement the agreements established by Moscow in Istanbul in 2022.
07:11Pesko also said that a proposal of the European Union on the creation of a coalition of several
07:18countries to send troops to Ukraine after the end of the conflict should be considered
07:23during the negotiations.
07:25Russia launched in mid-2022 a special military operation in border areas with Ukraine to
07:31protect civilians in Donetsk and Luhansk from genocide by the Kiev regime.
07:41The United States announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine on Thursday.
07:46This is the 72nd of these advertisements approved by the administration of President
07:55Joe Biden, who has already announced, despite working from his successor, that he will continue
08:01these advertisements to Kiev until January the 20th.
08:04The new aid includes ammunition for the human systems, arms and javelin missiles, as well
08:11as equipment for the handling of chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.
08:16In this context, also, the Secretary of State Antony Blinken ratified that his country will
08:20deliver to Kiev urgently needed weapons and equipment.
08:35French President Emmanuel Macron appointed his centuries-partied ally François Maronne
08:42as prime minister following Michael Byrne's closure.
08:46Maronne will replace Bernie, who resigned last week following a history vote of no confidence
08:52over the budget disputes, which forced him to resign from office along with members of
08:59his cabinet.
09:00Byrne is a veteran policeman, a three-time presidential candidate in 2002, 2007 and 2012.
09:11Byrne inherents the same situation of Bernie, an assembly fragmented into three blocs without
09:19majorities and where it will be difficult to approve reforms or laws.
09:32In South Korea, lawmakers submitted before the National Assembly a new motion for the
09:36impeachment of President Jong Suk-kyu.
09:39The opposition points out that to restore the constitutional order in the South Korean
09:43nation, it is necessary to remove the incumbent president.
09:47The impeachment proposal, after being boycotted by supporters of the head of state, is expected
09:52to be put to a vote again during the plenary session of the legislative schedule for this
09:58Saturday.
09:59The Korean president defended the implementation of a short-lived martial law, denying the
10:06accusation of actions of rebellion.
10:15In a year of rebellion, the British broadcaster had reported on its website in a house on
10:32Wednesday that gunmen had killed more than 90 Nigerian soldiers and more than three civilians
10:38in two villages near the border with Burkina Faso.
10:42In a statement, Nigeria's authorities denied that an attack happened in the area.

11:33Welcome back.
11:34The social movements of the Bolivarian Islands are for the peoples of America's meeting Caracas
11:39in the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the regional alliance.
11:42During the meeting, ALBA TCP Secretary General Jorge Arreaza reaffirmed the values of the
11:47government that make up the islands.
11:49Arreaza also pointed out the objectives of ALBA addressing social, economic and health
11:54sectors among others.
11:56In turn, he assured that freedom of the people of the Americas will be achieved through the
12:01creation of a great confederation of countries.
12:09And now we go in the framework of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of ALBA TCP, where
12:15the Vice-Minister of North America and President of the Simon Bolivar Center, Carlos Ron, offered
12:21an exclusive interview to our correspondent Belen De Los Santos.
12:24Let's listen.
12:25We are in the house of ALBA, where the social movement council of ALBA is being relaunched.
12:40It's being reboosted.
12:42And this is very significant.
12:43We have been saying this throughout the day.
12:45ALBA is a mechanism that was envisioned to coordinate both at a government, a state level
12:52and also at a social movement level.
12:54And that opens a whole window of possibilities because there are leaders from social organizations,
13:00from different political organizations, not only from the ALBA countries and not only
13:05from the regional countries, but also from around the world.
13:08And the idea is that it's the people's organization that come here together to discuss their own
13:14challenges, also to bring their own proposals to the table, and that this social movement
13:21council of ALBA can then bring these proposals to the presidential council of ALBA that is
13:28gathering the heads of state and government.
13:31Let's recall that tomorrow is the heads of state and government summit, the 24th summit,
13:36also on the day that ALBA turns 20 years.
13:39So we are here with the foreign Vice-Minister of Venezuela for North America, Carlos Ron.
13:46Carlos, thank you for joining us in TELUS for English.
13:49And I would like to begin by asking you, what is the relevance of this relaunching?
13:55What is the relevance of the social movement council for ALBA?
13:59Well, first of all, the most important thing is that ALBA is the only space within multilateral
14:06institutions, is the only integration block that actually has a social movement council
14:13as part, as an integral part of its structure.
14:16So this is an innovation that took place in 2007 by the vision of President Hugo Chavez,
14:22also inspired by Fidel Castro and the group that at that time composed ALBA.
14:29And it said that, you know, the logic is that ALBA responds differently.
14:35ALBA is a structure that is tied directly to the peoples.
14:40So in order for that to be fulfilled and for that to take place, you have to have a space
14:45where social movements could interact with the government, could counsel, could raise
14:51ideas, raise problems, have an exchange.
14:54And that's the way you guarantee that you actually have the participation of social
14:59movements in the whole structure and decision-making process.
15:03So what we're doing now is relaunching this space.
15:06We're crafting a proposal.
15:08We've been working for several months now with different social movements and platforms
15:14with the idea that the council turns into real concrete actions, not a space only to
15:21debate, not a space only to make proposals, but a space that actually, you know, establishes
15:26complete work, concrete work.
15:29For example, there's a proposal for a reforestation brigade.
15:33Social movements would get involved and putting the volunteers to take part in this.
15:41And then it would be considered that the governments could support this action.
15:46And that is sort of the spirit of what we're proposing.
15:51But it's important that we make actions that show the world that from ALBA, the spirit
15:57of cooperation, solidarity has concrete actions.
16:02And, you know, the people manifest themselves through concrete actions that improve the
16:07life and the dignity of the life of people.
16:10And also in the inauguration of this council meeting, Secretary General Jorge Reaza was
16:17also talking about the importance of the actions of social movements in every country, not
16:23only in ALBA countries and maybe specifically not in ALBA countries, the way they can pressure
16:30the government and bring the people's demands and also move forward the ALBA agenda in other
16:36spaces, for example, in states that are not integrated in the ALBA bloc.
16:40What do you think of these relevant, this important, how can social movements act in
16:46accordance with ALBA, even if it's not an ALBA state?
16:49Well, the importance is that this is a space for discussions, a space for exchange of ideas,
16:54as well as the concrete actions.
16:56ALBA is not confined to Latin America or to the 10 countries that today compose it, because
17:02we live in a pluripolar world, it's a changing world where everything is interconnected.
17:09So a lot of the issues that are of concern for different social movements, labor movements,
17:14feminist movements, food sovereignty movements, are issues that last.
17:22So the idea is that the council offers a space where these items can be discussed, where
17:26they can be brought up in the proposals, and where things can be enacted in order to change
17:32the world and to try to shift into the direction that is more respectful of humanity than what
17:39we're seeing in other trends.
17:43What's important about this is, of course, it's done within the range of actions that
17:48social movements have.
17:50It's also done with complete respect to the sovereignty of states.
17:55It's not something that imposes itself, but rather that serves as a place of dialogue,
18:01as a place of understanding ideas, to have an understanding of what the current global
18:07crisis is, and to offer solutions that can be implemented to those that are willing to
18:11implement changes.
18:13Excellent.
18:14And just one more question.
18:15You were talking before about the importance of going into action.
18:20This is not just a space for debate and for gathering.
18:24So how does this social movement council continue after today, after this council and
18:31after this ALBA summit?
18:32Well, we're making the proposal in a few minutes, some ideas that were already proposed
18:38by different movements, specific ideas in terms of education, communications, things
18:44that we can put into practice according with the governments of ALBA.
18:50Now, the second part is, of course, this is going to be raised to the governments.
18:55They have to analyze.
18:55They have to make decisions.
18:56And whatever is agreed to between the government and the government, we have to implement it.
19:03It's important, however, to keep in mind that we have to move into actions.
19:11The times we're living are not times where we can just come out and denounce and make
19:16declarations or statements.
19:17We have to provide actions that reassure people that the government, the revolutionary
19:22governments that take part of ALBA and that the social movements that accompany are willing
19:27to do things that really transform society and improve people's lives.
19:31And that is what it's about.
19:33Going to action, not only declaration, but actually concrete proof that things can be
19:39different, that another world is possible.
19:41We definitely hope so.
19:43And we'll be looking for that coordination and that action.
19:46Thank you, Carlos, for joining us here in Tell Us Your English.
19:49It's been a pleasure.
19:50So that was Carlos Ron.
19:53He is the foreign vice minister in Venezuela for North America.
19:57And we were just sharing some of the key aspects of what it means for the Social Movement Council
20:03of ALBA to be relaunched just one day before the ALBA mechanism turns 20 years after its
20:10foundation by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez-Frias.
20:13We'll continue bringing all the information from here, from the House of ALBA.
20:17We go back to you now.
20:24Organized labor unions in Panama march to the National Assembly headquarters in rejection
20:29of the Bill 163 to reform the Social Security Fund.
20:34The members of the labor unions point out that the purpose of the mobilization was to
20:39demand the government to withdraw the law.
20:42Spokespersons of the social movements affirm that the measure is detrimental to the workers
20:51and their families.
20:52And therefore, they will not allow the financial resources to be taken away, nor will they
20:59allow the privatization of the only public entity for the care of retirees.
21:04A study conducted by the Nicaraguan pollster and consultant entitled Youth Cosmovision
21:12showed that more than 95 percent of teenagers support the administration of President Daniel
21:17Ortega.
21:18A survey conducted nationally with young people between the ages of 13 and 29 highlighted
21:25that 82 percent of the adolescents support the administration of President Daniel Ortega.
21:30And 81.2 percent of young people affirms that Nicaragua is moving in the right direction
21:40with the leadership of the head of state.
21:50Ecuador's Amazonian indigenous communities took over the headquarter of the governor's
21:56office of the province of Napa in rejection of the construction of a maximum security
22:01prison in the city of Archidona.
22:03After 10 days of strife, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of the Ecuadorian
22:08Amazon held a demonstration in response to the government's refusal to listen to the
22:14people.
22:21We have come to the end of this brief, but you can find this and many other studies on
22:25our website at TELUSURINGLISH.NET.
22:27You can also join us on our socials, we're on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram as well.
22:32For TELUSURINGLISH, I'm from the south, I'm Manu Marrero, thank you for watching.
