00:32And we're going to talk about what happened in the game at TD Garden.
00:35You got to break it down to me because the Celtics vs the Philadelphia 76ers, no matter
00:39what situation the Sixers are in, I knew Joel Embiid is going to play.
00:43I mean, they could be one in 11.
00:45They could be, you know, have the best record.
00:47Either way, he's going to find a way to play.
00:49And that, of course, was the case.
00:51But he wasn't the whole story.
00:52We'll get into that.
00:53All the other games across the NBA on Christmas Day, man, I thoroughly enjoy.
00:58We'll get into that as well.
00:59Plus, is Jimmy Butler on the move?
01:02We'll tell you what Pat Riley had to say, if you haven't heard, and we'll react to it
01:05as well.
01:06But like I said from the top, man, Boston Celtics lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 118-114
01:12in what was easily their best game of the season, not only because they won, but the
01:16way they went about it, Khalid Martin going off seven three-pointers, you had Joel Embiid
01:23had a solid game as well.
01:24Tyrese Maxey goes off, especially in that fourth quarter.
01:27But what stands out to you the most, Max, as the Celtics, for the first time this season,
01:31have lost back-to-back game?
01:33I think the thing that stood out the most is the fact that Skrilli played so well.
01:38And I think the world champions have to understand that.
01:40When they compete against teams like that, they want to measure themselves.
01:45And Joel Embiid played well.
01:49All these other guys stepped up.
01:50Tyrese Maxey was so good.
01:54Martin has just been unbelievable.
01:55When he's played against the Celtics, when he's with Miami, when he's with Philly right
02:00now, he's played extremely well.
02:02And I think they do a great job of getting up on you, putting pressure on you.
02:07And 76ers deserve to win it.
02:10Celtics have a lull.
02:11Again, Joel Embiid played well.
02:14But then you had Porzingis go out, and people were wondering about that at halftime.
02:20Jalen Brown had a tough first half, but then he had a great third quarter.
02:25Tatum kind of rolled through this thing.
02:27It was a very interesting game.
02:30But the Celtics, you can see a little crack in their armor right now.
02:35Some of the games they played, especially Orlando, up by 14, 15 at the half.
02:42And Orlando comes back, and Orlando did not have Benkera.
02:47He did not play.
02:48Bogner didn't play.
02:49The other Bogner brother tore his knee up.
02:52And then the first guy off the bench, the first player off the bench didn't play.
02:56But they played well.
02:58This kid, Queen, that was there, this is when we know it's the end of the night.
03:03He banked in two three-point shots.
03:05Yeah, man, that was crazy.
03:07So sometimes those things happen.
03:09But the physicality is, again, what the Celtics have to look at.
03:14And people are always going to come at them.
03:16But, man, the late game execution by the Celtics, man.
03:19I was almost convinced that they were going to at least tie the game.
03:23Especially when Jalen Brown hits that three, the steal in the backcourt.
03:26I mean, these guys never give up.
03:28So, I mean, obviously, it's not ideal to lose the way they did against the Sixers,
03:32at home, and Christmas, and all that stuff.
03:34But I just feel like it won and meant a whole lot more to the Sixers
03:37than anything, because they just really try to turn their season around.
03:40What Joel Embiid said pretty much sums it up exactly.
03:43It's like, hey, we haven't reached our full potential.
03:47This could be a significant turning point.
03:48I mean, that's what they're hoping for.
03:49They need that to be a significant turning point.
03:52Because if you're Nick Nurse, man, you're going to hold on to this win for a long time.
03:56You're going to use this as bullet board material as to what you can do against
04:00the champions and hope that you can turn that into a significant winning streak
04:05or some sort of direction toward being above 500.
04:08Because they're still far from 500 right now.
04:10When you think about all the things that happened,
04:12Joel Embiid was greatly maligned there.
04:15To the point where he was almost in tears talking about what I've done for the city
04:19and people shouldn't look at me.
04:21A reporter goes at him.
04:22He grabs a reporter, and then they find him.
04:25They suspend him for one game.
04:27It was a mess going on down there.
04:31Tyron Maxey calls out Joel Embiid for being late.
04:34You know, just everything that could go wrong would go wrong.
04:38And then you had their best three players.
04:40This is the first time they played together with Paul George in a minute.
04:45So they got a lot to expand on.
04:48It was a good win for them.
04:51The Southerns could have been down by 15 or 16 points for a rally to get back in it.
04:56But they have to be able to close the door on a team like Philadelphia,
05:01especially with the way they've been playing at home.
05:05What did you make of Embiid giving props to his teammate Khalid Martin for going off?
05:10Of course, those seven three-pointers, 23 points.
05:12So outside of those seven threes, he hit a layup.
05:14Like, he was just money from behind the yard.
05:17But he said, that man hates the Southerns as much as I do.
05:20So I'm not surprised.
05:21Were you surprised to hear that?
05:23I wasn't at all, because you look back at that Eastern Conference finals
05:25against the Miami Heat.
05:26That man does not like the Southerns.
05:28So I believe him.
05:29Yeah, he's played well.
05:31He's played well against the Southerns.
05:33I don't think that nobody's going to convince me.
05:36Hell, the man looked like damn Kobe Bryant for a minute.
05:39Had him running, dunk over somebody, trying to get a rebound.
05:43He doesn't do that.
05:44Where did that come from?
05:45He was active.
05:47And sometimes, it's about the teams you play against.
05:50When you play well, and you see these teams, you're like, look,
05:53I want to go at this guy.
05:55I want to do this.
05:55I want to do that.
05:56So let's just say he had a great game.
06:00They needed a great game from him.
06:02Seven three-pointers, and you win by four points in a game like that?
06:07So you can celebrate it, and they should celebrate it.
06:11But at the same time, you look at the score and going,
06:14you weren't whistling Dixie to the fact
06:18that you were able to just kind of hold on to a game
06:22when you had your three players play as well as it.
06:26And Tyrese Maxwell was unbelievable.
06:27He controlled the game initially.
06:30At one point in the game, I think it was the first half of the game,
06:34he had outscored Jalen Brown 16 to 0.
06:37Jalen Brown got back in the game and played well in the third quarter,
06:42had some turnovers in the fourth quarter.
06:44But the Southerners just have been a little lax with what they've been doing.
06:48With the Kristoff Porzingis scare, man, obviously, it's a good sign
06:52that he's questionable for Friday's game.
06:54If it was something much more severe, he would be immediately ruled out.
06:57So that's a good sign.
06:58But I just feel like he hasn't been able to sort of find that stretch where
07:01he can just, you know, Southern fans can breathe easy without seeing him either
07:05limp in or, you know, tweak here or there.
07:07But obviously, Southerns did the right thing in sending him for the rest of the game
07:09because you don't want to take any chances in December, right, Max?
07:12Like, I don't think the Southerns are obviously, you know,
07:15very concerned or thinking to themselves like, man,
07:17we got to at least shut this guy down for a week.
07:19But you do the right thing and making sure that, OK,
07:22let's pull him for the game and just go from there.
07:23And again, to pop up on the injury report is questionable.
07:26It's a good sign.
07:27No, it's a great sign,
07:29because when he first took that seat, he took an initial step
07:33and he kind of just is.
07:35And you could hear people in the garden just go, oh, it was right.
07:39I didn't win it.
07:40And because you looked at it's like me and you think about the ankle
07:44and what happened to him, you're going.
07:46Sean Granny said it best.
07:48My broadcast partner, he said, it's not what Kristoff does now.
07:51But tell me how many games he's going to play in the playoffs.
07:55That's going to be the telltale sign of the Boston Celtics.
08:00If he's 100 percent during the playoffs, the Celtics have too many weapons
08:04and the guys are trying to catch up.
08:06You know, Peyton Pritchett is at that last.
08:1010 seconds of a half man, they're guarding Peyton Pritchett
08:14like it's the NBA championship because they're making sure
08:17he ain't getting no running half court shot.
08:20I mean, you know, that last the last five or six seconds,
08:23guys just kind of kangaroo through.
08:25But now that he's out there and he's knocked down some shots,
08:29the report is on him of what he can do and how he's going to do it.
08:33And they're trying to be a lot more physical.
08:35But my but, you know, I just think Philly played a great game
08:38and they deserve to win.
08:40And so let's have to, you know, tighten everything up.
08:44And you think about the last I think the last six games.
08:47So it's a three and three or something like that,
08:51because I know they lost Chicago
08:54and they went to Chicago and won.
08:56Then they went down to Orlando and lost that game.
08:59Then they came back.
09:00So this team is a team definitely is not playing this best basketball right now.
09:05But I'm tell you what, Jason Tatum has been unbelievable here.
09:09You think about the game here in Chicago?
09:11He was off the trip.
09:12Man, it turned around and got sick down in Orlando
09:16and put him in, put them in the tilter.
09:19Yeah. What's what's taking me?
09:20What's what's that diet like?
09:21You got you got to talk to Tatum, man.
09:23This isn't the first time, Max.
09:25And I know you know what I'm talking about.
09:27You don't do me, you know, trying stuff or not.
09:30I should say try stuff, just eating things that just don't sit well.
09:34You know, let's say 24 hours later and all of a sudden you got a stomach thing
09:37going and then you're like he said, you end up losing a lot of fluids.
09:40This isn't the first time Tatum's lost a bunch of fluids,
09:43you know, having a little stomach bug or something like this.
09:45Well, those things are going to happen.
09:46And Salmonella is real.
09:49Salmonella poison is real.
09:52You know, I had it this summer and man, I was in the bathroom.
09:57It's and it's coming from both areas.
09:59It's, you know, it's you can't you don't know if the stick or the throw.
10:04You got the basket going to get the trash.
10:06It is one of the most wicked sicknesses.
10:10I mean, you know, I was looking for my heart or my lungs to come out.
10:15You fight for your life, man.
10:17All right.
10:18And and the craziest thing about it, I was I was in the bathroom.
10:22There was I had a friend there with me.
10:24She didn't even know I was in my other bathroom.
10:27Dude, I was laid on the floor for about 30 minutes.
10:30I mean, literally I was laying in bed.
10:33Yeah. You can't use the bedroom bathroom.
10:35You got to use the other one.
10:36Yeah. So what he had, if he had what I think he had
10:40and he liked that he and then to come back and have the kind of game
10:43he did the other day was surreal.
10:46Right. I mean, look, if you if you were playing

16:43I think that one game is going to be a really tough game for the Celtics.
16:46I really wouldn't be surprised if they lose that game.
16:49But in a seven game series, I'm not quite sure I'm ready to say that that
16:52you know, the Thunder would win the finals against the Celtics.

16:56You know, the young team playing against a veteran team. Right.
17:00And then the veteran team also has young, young dynamic players.
