Mike Giardi and Will Parkinson return after the holiday to preview the entire Week 17 slate in the NFL. With the number one seed in the AFC locked up for the Chiefs, can anyone stop them? Who's their biggest threat? Could Pete Carroll be the solution the Jets have searched for? Can the Patriots build off of last week's strong performance?

00:00Here we go. Another episode of the All 32 podcast. Mike Giardi alongside Will Parkinson
00:17as always. Week 17. It's here. It's all happening. It is all happening. Reminder of this show
00:24brought to you by PrizePix, the daily fantasy partner of the CLNS Media Network. And game
00:29time, best tickets, best prices to get you see any event you want to see. A lot of games to get
00:34to and a couple of games that we have to rehash from Christmas Day. Netflix pre post game halftime
00:41shows, not so great, but they didn't actually, you know, the streaming thing actually worked.
00:44There wasn't too much buffering. I did get confused on the second game because I went to,
00:48I went, I went to Denormal TV. When I came back to it, it was like kickoff in 22 minutes. I'm like,
00:53no, kickoff is supposed to be now. And it was the play now button. I'm like, where did this come
00:57from? What are we doing? So you really just aged yourself there. It took me like three minutes to
01:03figure out like they didn't delay the game yet. You just hit fast forward and you're going to be
01:07there. So the biggest topic of conversation on Christmas dinner, besides us joking about
01:13Leo crop dusting the pod last episode, what was RG3's ring? We've been trying, I cannot figure
01:20it out. I did a full Twitter search. I talked to like six people, six of like our mutual friends
01:26in the, in the industry. No one knows what that ring is from. It's the biggest ring I've ever seen.
01:31Yeah. It's not a Superbowl ring. Is it like a high school class ring? Like what is it?
01:37Did he just buy a ring? Like I wouldn't put it past them. I got to say. So like I said,
01:43I was not a big fan of the pre post. Like I just, you're putting, putting all these people
01:47together. Yeah. But, but, um, when you have to try as hard as RG3 is to, um, say something cool.
01:57And like he was doing the walk and talk and he was trying to be funny and like say, and I'm just
02:01like, you know, dude, just give me the frigging, can you give me the meat and potatoes? You're a
02:04quarterback. You played in the league. Like I shouldn't have to depend on Mina Kimes and God
02:09bless Mina Kimes for like researching and doing our homework. But like, I shouldn't have to depend
02:13on Mina Kimes to give me, you know, some sort of X's and O's type thing. You're the quarterback
02:19for God's sake. You're on the set. Cause you played with Lamar and what are we doing here?
02:23Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So anyway, bitching about that, but let's, uh, let's get to those two
02:28Christmas day games because the chiefs beat the Steelers 29 to 10. They're now 15 and one. They
02:35are the number one seed that is locked in, uh, in the AFC and to me, and this has started to brew
02:42maybe three or four weeks ago, but now with the addition of Hollywood Brown, the last couple of
02:47games, it feels like all of a sudden, once again, the chiefs are not that they weren't figuring it
02:54out before they were winning close games, 10, one score games. But it's like the offense that has
02:59really had to sort of 10, 12 play drives and everything had been so drawn out. And like,
03:04you had to be so perfect. And Pat, in a lot of cases was able to be perfect, especially late
03:08in games. It feels like now it's opening up for them in a way that it hasn't in a couple of years.
03:14And you go, here we go again, Kansas city chiefs rounding into the proper form as we head into
03:20January and February. Yeah. I feel like one of two passes coming for the chiefs. We're either
03:26talking about a three Pete, but first one, I don't know. It's going to be, I mean, incredible
03:32they pull that off. Right. Or I think we're talking about like 2011 Packers, 2010 Patriots
03:39level of like 16 and one 15 and one, you know, obviously it was, I think Patriots are 14 and two
03:44in 2010 and then Packers 15 and one in 11 and like just losing the divisional round. And you're like,
03:50what just happened? Like, I just, I don't feel like they're, you think they're going to get like,
03:55I know they're getting better and stuff. And like, it does feel like every week it's a few
04:00calls here, a few calls there. Other they're Mike. It's very interesting. The chiefs are a
04:05little bit, I know they're not similar to those Patriots teams in a lot of ways, either, you know,
04:09either end of the dynasties, but they are in a lot of ways that they don't beat themselves.
04:13They just, they really don't. They don't. I know we can, everyone can play about the
04:16refs and we all do it. And yeah, I'm sure that is a factor in some games, but like
04:20the best player on the planet, they have probably the best coach on the planet and they don't beat
04:25themselves and other teams make the stupid turnovers. Other teams cost themselves with
04:30the stupid, you know, penalties or, you know, not controlling their emotions or they have the
04:36missed assignment, not the chiefs. And it feels like as talented as they are, they're just such
04:40a sound football team, even like even Sunday, right? George Pickens doesn't run his route hard
04:45at all. He's, he allows, you know, Jordan Reed to, sorry, Eric Reed to, you know, not have to,
04:51not have to respect that. And he's able to kind of cut across and I mean,
04:55rush shouldn't have thrown the ball anyways, but it doesn't matter. The point is
04:58the Steelers made a team who usually doesn't make mistakes, was making a lot of mistakes.
05:02And it's just, you know, you know, even, you know, some of the fumbles firing with,
05:07by the end of the half, you know, it was eight fumble. It's just, they don't beat themselves
05:11and it makes it so much harder to be a team where not only do you have to be perfect,
05:16I know, and we can joke with the refs and the whole thing, and you have to, you know,
05:19you have to be, you know, beat them as well, but you have to beat the best player in the
05:22sport and not make mistakes. And it's just, it's really hard to do. And again, I think
05:28we talked about it last week of Hayes, you know, the Bills, the Ravens, who's,
05:32who's the favorite in the AFC. And I, I think the Chiefs are the favorite until they're not
05:36as much as this was one of their better performances. I will say, I thought
05:40they came ready to play and I thought Pittsburgh is very much spiraling. And a lot of the guys
05:46who were overachieving for a large majority of the year have kind of turned back into pumpkins
05:50a little bit. Specifically, Russ has started to be a little Denver. Denver, Denver Broncos,
05:56Russ, yeah. Seattle, yeah. Yeah. And that's, it's, it's getting late early for them. I know
06:04it's late in the year, but you got my point. Yeah. I think the comparison to the Patriots
06:10when they were at the height of their dynasty, both at the beginning and at the end is apt.
06:16And fair that those Patriot teams weren't always the most talented teams. They did have the best
06:21quarterback just as Kansas city has the best quarterback, but they got into all those situations
06:26where I actually heard Devin McCourty talking about this on a, on a podcast.
06:30By the way, that was the best part of the Netflix. Just say like, Hey, here's the McCourty brothers.
06:34They know each other. So let's let them talk. Just let them go. Yeah. He was all with Chris
06:38Sims. I think it was in the Sunday night pod that they do every Sunday night, the unbuttoned pod.
06:43And he was like, you know, there was a period of time with not even a period of time when we had
06:48Tom, you know, didn't always go your way. You're you, you know, you're not playing your best game.
06:52They might not be playing offensively. He might not be great, but we just kept saying to ourselves
06:56all the time, just stay in it, hang around, hang around, keep playing, keep playing.
07:01And then the next thing you know, he goes, there's two minutes left. It's a, you know,
07:05it's a one score game. We've got the ball and he's moving it down the field. And you're like, man,
07:09we weren't good today. And yet we fought enough to put ourselves in position where that guy will
07:15go make the play nine out of 10 times. And that's what Patrick's doing now. But to my point about
07:20the Hollywood Brown edition, I think Xavier Worthy starting was starting to come on before
07:26Brown was reinserted in a lot of two games ago, but now that he's there,
07:30plan a lot more 11 personnel. And now they have, it's not just one speed guy on the field. Now
07:35they have two speed guys on the field. Now all of a sudden, Justin Watson, who is like the sneaky
07:39fast guy, but not when he's supposed to be the fast guy, he's getting over the top of the defense.
07:44He's making big plays. Brown's still sort of rounding into form himself. Like obviously
07:48hadn't played all season, got hurt in the first play of the preseason, but he looks pretty good.
07:53And Worthy is becoming a seven, eight, nine catch guy per game. And they're finding creative ways to
07:58do it. He's not having to run the crosser over the middle of the field when you've got to have it.
08:02It's, you know, stops and it's quick wide receiver screens or, and they're still doing
08:06stuff with him in the run game. And it just, their offense is starting to expand and it's
08:10starting to get old. It's look, Pat Travis, Kelsey's never going to be the Travis Kelsey was
08:16two or three years ago, but he's still good enough. And now you're putting all these pieces
08:19around them and they're starting to get going. And it's like, well, now he becomes dangerous
08:23even more so than before. Like it, it just feels like I've seen this movie before.
08:28And while they're not as dominant as they've been, they're playing really good football and
08:33it feels like they're getting better at the absolute right time. So not for nothing to
08:37shout ourselves out here. We talked about, should my homes play those two, the two games in six days,
08:42because we said, if they win, they clinch it. And now two weeks off for the start. I mean,
08:47I don't know. We'll see what they, how do they approach, you know, week 18, but it feels like
08:51maybe even they go a quarter or a half, get them some reps and get like a preseason game almost
08:54and get them out of there. Cause Andy places guys are in the preseason. It worked out exactly
09:00how they wanted Pat, obviously it was way healthier than, you know, shocker than, than we,
09:05you know, then, then they let on, which is fine. And they do that and they're smart and it,
09:10it works to their advantage and it gives, you know, gets other teams kind of let their guard
09:13down a little bit. And it's like, Oh, Pat's fun. And he's a tough dude. It's not that incredibly
09:18tough, but you know, now they get, they really get those two victories, whether, even if you
09:23rest your guys now it's two weeks off as opposed to a month off. And, you know, you can maybe
09:28eliminate some of that doomsday scenario. I mentioned of the 10 Patriots, the 11, you know,
09:33Packers and other teams that are, you know, basically win every game all year coasting.
09:38And then that break, it's like hard to get back up. And you just, you wonder, Hey, they play them,
09:42maybe they play them a quarter or a half against Denver. And if you know, you're in the game,
09:46maybe you let it keep going. And if it's, Hey, the Broncos are playing for their playoff lives,
09:51they're rolling, maybe, you know, you say, Hey, you know, let's, let's back it off here.
09:55Carson Wentz. I don't know. Maybe, maybe they just go, they blanket go, Hey, when's this going
09:59to go the whole game? I don't know. We haven't been, you know, obviously we'll find out, you
10:03know, it's next week starts, but they put themselves in a much better scenario to get rest,
10:07but not the dreaded too much rest in football. You know, and we have talked about that pitchers
10:12and, you know, and these teams where it's sometimes it, it does backfire. And the way
10:16they're playing right now, I actually think they probably want to like, keep going. It's like
10:19Kelsey starting to like get some of his, you know, his legs under him homes is comfortable
10:23with some of these other weapons now as well. Yeah. Yeah. They become a very dangerous team.
10:27You mentioned the Steelers and sort of, sort of falling apart for them. I don't know if you caught
10:32some of the quotes in the post game, 10 guys on defense, doing the right thing. And one guy,
10:39not a lot of people feel like this is a Minka Fitzpatrick thing. And when you talk about the
10:44guys that are saying the same things, Cam Hayward, TJ, why you're talking about the best players,
10:48make us the other best player, make us not seemingly involved in this. And maybe Minka
10:52is doing a little too much freelancing, but whatever there, there was a ceiling to that
10:58team all along. And I think you're seeing it and maybe the ceiling is now falling in on top of them.
11:06And they can be an easy one and done here in the post season.
11:09I, we talked before, I guess, right before the Raven Steelers game last weekend,
11:17you know, we were talking about who needs it more, who doesn't. We both mentioned like,
11:22at least I thought we mentioned that, you know, obviously again, the Steelers are still in
11:26control of their own destiny, would be able to win, you know, could win the division. And,
11:29you know, Baltimore was going to play two teams that, you know, they likely would play in the
11:32playoffs. Well, they totally took advantage of a really crucial two game stretch. And I felt like
11:39the Steelers became a team that that's the team you want to play in the playoffs, right? Like I,
11:45I want to play them in Houston. You know, I am, I'm like, if I'm in an AFC team, I'm like,
11:52oh boy, like how can we, you know, how can we figure out a way to, you know, get in,
11:57get in a scenario where, you know, we're, we're matched up in those teams. Just again,
12:02it's week by week. And so then if the NFL has always been like that, but, you know,
12:06in a lot of ways, like, look, I don't know if the Chargers can be able to catch the Steelers.
12:10We'll see, obviously they, you know, early, you know, we'll see if they're able to do it,
12:14you know, and even the Broncos, I guess, or whoever, but right now,
12:21Houston-Pittsburgh will be an extremely unwatchable game on, you know, on wildcard
12:27weekend, I can assure you, it'll be a boom fest for sure. It's so true. Alex here from

13:08run your game. And of course we will have our picks later in the program to, in fact,
13:13end the program. Let's go to the other Christmas day game that was an absolute
13:18bloodbath. The Ravens stomped the Texans 31 to two. You know, it's bad for the other team when,
13:26when, you know, Derek Henry got tackled for the, for the safety and like the offensive guys are
13:30apologizing to the Baltimore defense saying you should have had a shutout. We screwed it up for
13:34you. Um, but they, they absolutely, uh, just hogtied battered bruised. I mean, it was just an
13:42idiot. Would you not argue that losing 31 to is worse than losing 31? Nothing. Yes. The two is
13:48just, there's something it's so it's like, yeah, it's like, so just disrespect. And especially for
13:54a team. And look, we've been on this about how their offense and CJ has not been the same. And
13:58Bobby Sloak is, uh, I mean, just, they seriously have to make a decision about him, whether they
14:04want to proceed with him going forward. And again, this was the guy who last year was,
14:08you know, serious candidate to get a head coaching job. And now he could be on his way out
14:13after year two was the OC, but that team is just a hot mess. They can't protect on the interior.
14:20They're having the same problems with the stumps, which was illustrated on the broadcast, which we
14:23talked about last week, like just the same things are happening to them over and over and over
14:28again. There was also a good thread on social media this week about, well, you know, like a
14:32lot of people are pointing serious fingers at Stroud and they're like, uh, have you noticed
14:38the receivers are all in the same place on a bunch of these plays? And that's just not the way it's
14:41drawn up. So what's happening there. It just seems like a, uh, a full-on breakdown there.
14:46And as you mentioned, like the Steelers, they're a team that I think anybody would be really excited
14:51to play. So I don't want to talk about them anymore. Cause we talked about them. I want to
14:54talk about the Ravens who last week pulled me back in and I said it and you're like, Oh, I don't know
14:58this schedule. And now again, not that the Texans are playing great, but that was like, I talk about
15:05the, the, the chiefs and they're often starting to round into form. I think that the Baltimore
15:09offense has been the best offense in football this year and they can do it so many different
15:15ways to you. You know, it's, it's Derek Henry, it's Lamar. And it's like, Oh, well, no, we're
15:19relying on Henry and Henry and Henry. And then Lamar takes a drive and he's just like, no,
15:23I'm going to remind you what I'm capable of. They're doing things that they did on the Greg
15:27Roman offense. They're doing the, the Monk and stuff. They're just, they have so much stuff
15:30there for a defense to plan for and try to stop. And they are so capable of beating you in so many
15:36different ways that they're going to be a handful in January for sure. Yeah. I just want to touch
15:41one quick thing on the Stroud thing. Has he been bad this year? No, not at all. And I still think
15:46Stroud's a promising player, but I will say obviously, you know, pretty much the same amount
15:52of starts as last year's 15 last year, 16 this year, obviously the injury, you know, touchdowns
15:57are down. Interceptions are way up. We know that obviously completion percentage down, you know,
16:02yardage is down. The attempts are way more, um, you know, things like, you know, yards per
16:07completion, you know, yards and attempt Kibbe rating, Kibbe everything's like two ticks down
16:13or three ticks down. I, the one thing that I think is obviously we play out as the 52 sacks
16:19this year he's taken versus last year, took 38, you know, he's thrown for 50 less yards a game.
16:25I'd say there's stark differences. I think there's a lot to play with that. I think there's
16:30maybe kind of maybe a little too ambitiously anointed Stroud. People were like, hesitant
16:35with Jordan love, but like, and even, even myself, I was like, oh man, it was really an eight game
16:40stretch. And then I was like, well, so was Stroud again, then the last place schedule
16:44and the easiest division of football. Like, did we maybe jumped the gun a little bit
16:49and just slow plays him a blame, the offensive line, the deployment, everyone plays a role here,
16:54but Stroud certainly puts the ball in harm's way more this year. Then I thought he was going to be
16:59long-term a little bit more like last year, it wasn't high touchdown numbers, but very low
17:04turnovers made the big plays and things like that this year. It's like, this team can't really
17:11be as effective if they're going to turn the football over once, twice a game on offense
17:14like that. So should rely heavily on Joe Mixon if they want to try to win a playoff game,
17:20in my opinion, just to kind of reset things. A lot of Nico, a lot of Joe Mixon, everybody else
17:24can kind of can roll as much. I love Robert Woods. One of my favorite all-time players.
17:31He's 33 now and like on a sixth ACL. From a Ravens perspective,
17:38them and Buffalo, I think in a lot of ways, they're different teams and I understand that
17:44like they're different, you know, Buffalo fans, Ravens fans are at it right now because of the
17:48MVP stuff. But in a lot of ways, the stuff that scares you at Buffalo is very similar to stuff
17:53that scares you at Baltimore is that their unicorn quarterback at any given moment can
17:59pretty much beat you by themselves. And I don't think the Chiefs, if they have their way with it,
18:05like Baltimore, Buffalo, you know, the Bengals get in and, you know, beat Buffalo in round one.
18:12And, you know, the Ravens slip up against, you know, the Chargers or something in round one.
18:15And it's like, hey, those are the two teams we just absolutely do not want to play. And it's
18:19not that the Chiefs are scared of either of these teams. It's that Lamar is playing at such a
18:24ridiculous level that last year, the MVP stuff, no one wanted to win the MVP last year. It was like
18:31one of the worst MVP years I can remember, where it's like, yeah, really, I guess Lamar's the MVP
18:36by default. They're the one, you know, they're the one seed, like sure. And he was really good last
18:40year, but he was more like risk averse last year. It didn't feel like he didn't feel like he had the
18:45same pep in his step. At least he said it. He said he called himself fat, right? He came in
18:50having lost weight. Yeah. And frankly, based on Lamar standards, he came in and was not in
18:55full shape. This year, it's like, it's the running, it's getting back to he's impossible
19:01to bring down in the pocket again. I think we talked about it on opening night, opening night,
19:06Mike, where you said, I can't believe how much Lamar ran and was like, like taking shots,
19:12like against the Chiefs. Like he was like, like a different mentality this year. And the passing
19:16is unbelievable. They have obviously a ton of weapons to even seeing guys like Rashad Bateman,
19:21who, you know, look, I think me and you both like coming out of the draft and he's struggled
19:24with injuries. I just don't feel like he's ever gotten anywhere close to the player. I think
19:27either of us thought he'd be, but if he's going to be a contributor, you know, and we're talking
19:31about obviously Andrews and likely, and, you know, they still have the Derek Henry factor
19:35and they felt like there's a lot of there, but like, again, I'm not diminishing that,
19:40but the defense is playing way better, which is obviously helpful. The Kyle Hamilton numbers,
19:45you brought them up on a Monday show. They're outrageous. Like now that he's back safety,
19:49they're actually a good defense again. And again, Lamar's playing at such a high level that if he
19:55even plays 85, 90% of that in the playoffs, I just, they're scary. I got, again, I probably
20:01wouldn't pick them against Kansas city and I'd have a really tough time. The Buffalo thing. I
20:07go back and forth. They smoked Buffalo, but I also think Buffalo is playing really well right now.
20:11It depends where the game would be. And we can do the whole, that whole thing. Those teams to me
20:16just feel like it's the quarterback, the chiefs. We talked about it, the Ravens and the bills do
20:21beat themselves at times more than the chiefs do. But man, the way Lamar is playing, I probably
20:28would vote for him for MVP. I know people get tired and it's the LeBron thing. It's, you know,
20:34but I do feel like a little like Josh Allen winning is a little out Jose Altuve 2017 winning
20:38where he was deserving, but it was a lot of like, this guy's deserved the MVP. That's kind of his
20:43time, et cetera, where like judge was a rookie. And I know it's a different thing, but like judge
20:48was every metric. It's like Lamar is way more touchdowns, way more yards, you know, everything,
20:53every stat favors Lamar. And now if they're going to win the division, it's kind of hard to argue
20:59before it was like, Hey, they're the five seat. They're struggling a little bit, but more beat
21:02them head to head. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know where you go with that. But I think
21:05those two guys, they're going to have to like, you know, go for stats. Yeah. I'd say the best
21:11argument for Josh. I mean, again, we're talking about both of them having outstanding years,
21:16right? So creations of awesome year. The best argument for Josh would be, well, look who he's
21:24playing with versus look who, I think we would all look at the Ravens offense, especially don't
21:29forget the narrative going into the year. Buffalo is going to take a step back. There's no way
21:33they're going to be as good offensively. They're putting more on Josh because they don't have
21:36digs. Then, you know, what did they do? Yeah. They brought in Coleman, but he's still, he's not a big
21:40separator. It's got jump ball. Guy's a rookie. Like it's not going to be the same. And he's
21:45leading receivers clear Shakir, who I love as a player. He's not a number one by a million,
21:52they have a million twos. Yeah, exactly. And he's been able to elevate that group and take the
21:57narrative of, they're going to take a step back and shove it in everybody's face. It's just hard
22:01when you look at the, like, you know, I'm sure people that listen to the show and I'm sure you've
22:04done it, you know, you go on, you know, football pro football reference and you do the stat head,
22:08you know, comparison, you know, pretty vert, you know, Josh's record is better, but
22:13the completion percentage is like a five point difference. Passing yards. Lamar hasn't bought
22:16like 500, you know, touchdowns. He got on my 13 passing touchdowns with less picks. He's got 300
22:22more rushing cards. It's just like, yeah, it's hard. It's like hard. But I also, if Josh wins,
22:26I wouldn't be like, wow, that's a fraud MVP. Like, I don't view it as that at all. I do think
22:33that similar, I guess what Lamar did, a lot of Lamar's game on Christmas day was very similar
22:39to a lot of the Josh primetime games this year, where like, even the numbers aren't like outstanding
22:43by any means, but like he makes two or three, like, wow, plays in primetime and you're like,
22:47damn. And, you know, so I don't know. If I had to rank it today, Mike, I would,
22:53the top five MVP stuff for me would be Allen and Lamar one, two, in whatever order. I'm not
22:58going to make my decision on who I would have theoretically voted for the end of the year.
23:02I think Burrow probably would be three for me. I'd have Sam four. If the Vikings are the one scene,
23:07why is he, you know, little fence, like, why is he getting it? His numbers are better than
23:11Josh Allen's. Like, you know, it's, I know he has KOC and Jefferson stuff, but, and then Saquon,
23:17he would be in and get a top five. You know, he'd still be a top five finisher with the way things
23:22have kind of gone about. Yeah. All of it. I mean, honestly, like in any year, like they would
23:27all be deserving candidates to the type of year they're having Barkley over 2000 scrimmage yards.
23:33It's been awesome. And I could see him having some big numbers this weekend as they roll with
23:38it. It looks like Kenny Pickett is going to be their starting quarterback. We're talking about
23:42a lot of big games. How do you, how do you do it? How do you go to the big games? How do you go to
23:46the NFL games? How do you get there? He was game time. I mean, you, you, you followed us here.

24:36Let's get to what is to me, the game of the weekend. I'm fired up for it. 11 and four Packers
24:43at the 13 and two Vikings. Crazy that two teams with this record, same division, neither one of
24:49them in first place in division because of the Lions, obviously also at 13 and two, but with
24:54the tiebreaker. However, the number one seed still available for Minnesota. It's not over yet.
25:01Beat the Packers and then the season finale in Detroit, which could be for the whole marbles
25:07of the division and the number one overall seed. Green Bay playing outstanding football,
25:14as is Minnesota. At this point, Minnesota is 18 row. Green Bay, I think, is the team that we thought
25:19they were going to be at the beginning of the year. Had some some hiccups at various points
25:22and Jordan Love kind of took a little while to round back into form after the injuries,
25:26but he's playing well again. I look at this two matchups, Sam Darnall versus Jeff Halfley's
25:33defense, which has been surprisingly good. Although again, they have a lot of talent
25:37on that side of the ball. They just harness it with Joe Barry and it's Jordan Love and what he's
25:41capable of doing against Brian Flores. Turn the ball over a bunch against them in their first
25:45meeting again. Love was playing with the MCL but. Struggled, so now you got that on tape.
25:52How does Flores attack him? How do you? How do you view this one?
25:55Muted on you man. God, four years in this thing. I can't figure it out.
26:02This is a statement gave from Minnesota to me. I think Green Bay is a team that people view as a
26:07bigger contender than Minnesota just because a lot of you know look dirty little secret here for
26:12you know behind the four. People like when their takes are right and yes, most people had Green Bay
26:17as a Super Bowl contender. They didn't. They had Minnesota as a Super Bowl contender.
26:22They didn't. They had Minnesota as a fringe playoff team at best, and obviously it is what it is right so.
26:28Minnesota and for all intents and purposes, I know the game got really close at the end.
26:32I mean they stomped the dog piss out of them in green and it was 20. There's 20 nothing before
26:38they blinked in in Lambeau, right? Like Sam Darnold led Vikings and they end up holding on and love.
26:44Put up a Brett Favre stat line in that game, which was objective like four touchdowns, three picks,
26:48400 yards. It's awesome. It's pure pure far from the in the late 90s. We have MVP's thrown 28 picks so.
26:56If Minnesota wins this game, you have to. I know they've been kind of every week. We talk a little
27:01bit more and more and more about them. Yes, start to seriously be like dude.
27:06There's a real shot. They could go to the Super Bowl because Detroit's obviously extremely banged
27:11up. You know, I think 16. I don't know if this that was corrected. There's 16 players who have
27:16started games for them on IR. Minnesota feels like if they get the ones here, I talked a couple
27:24players in Minnesota locker room and they were like that home field advantage we have is is legit.
27:30Like it's it's serious and again, no offense. They host the Giants a couple years ago in a
27:36playoff game and Kirk Cousins threw a four yard out route on 4th and 8th, right? But
27:41that that's a very different Vikings team and they go and they beat Green Bay here again.
27:48Two against Green Bay. They obviously sub Chicago. They lost a heartbreaker to Detroit.
27:53I'm talking about the best division of football. They're at worst going to be four and two
27:57like at some point we have to kind of start being like.
28:01Why why not Minnesota? If Detroit's that banged up and Philly's got the hurts issues now with
28:06the concussion and mixed with, you know, an epic choke job against Washington and like they're not
28:11going to be the one seed now and the whole thing we have to start and like someone's going to come
28:15into Detroit or Minnesota likely. You have to start at least thinking like why not them? I'm
28:22not saying they're they're not going to be the favorite and I'm not saying they should be. I'm
28:25just saying. Let's start at least having we have to start having some of this conversation. If
28:30you're Green Bay, you go to win this game, you're going. Hey, J Lo was banged up early in the year.
28:36Fluky game, we didn't come out ready to play.
28:39Kind of riding our, you know, riding a high of the Malik Willis win and.
28:44Minnesota is, you know, we can come into Minnesota and beat that beat this team who's who's riding
28:47high. I think if you're. I'd like to see kind of minute what Minnesota does from a schematic
28:53perspective. I wonder if Flores I know likes to be aggressive, right? We know he wants to
29:00be aggressive. He wants to send a lot of these linebackers on different blitzes and you know,
29:03Van Kinkle and Cashman. These other guys let them fly around.
29:07I would be curious if he tries to like go with the.
29:11Almost the approach of like Ben don't break in this game just to be like hey pick us apart for
29:18a 12 play drive over and over again and like we're going to wrap up and give up four or five yards
29:23apart, but we're not going to give up the big play to Watson or read or wicks or any of these guys
29:28like they're not and we're going to just Josh Jacobs is not going to beat us like you're going
29:32to have to dink and dunk your way to a win. That's how I would probably approach it because
29:36I think the Packers in this offense were like. They just they kill you with Jacobs Jacobs boom
29:42deep shot like demoralizing like you can ever and then if you're Minnesota and if you're green
29:47Bay against Minnesota. You gotta get Donald's tuck. You know his internal clock sped up early
29:52on in the game. That's the one way you still could beat Sam is like if you get him kind of
29:57getting a little happy feet just a little bit. He's gotten rid of most of it, right? He really
30:01has, but we saw a little bit in the Jets game against Chicago the second time with the offensive
30:06line didn't play well. He just wasn't as productive in the Jacksonville game. So if I'm Minnesota,
30:12I would actually be not aggressive at all. I would be like I would challenge Jordan love
30:16and then if you're green Bay, I'd be extremely aggressive saying. We're going to get. I don't
30:21know what the deal is going to play or not. I feel like the Jetta stuff is yeah, so I don't know.
30:27I guess in long story short, I this is a. Minnesota wins this. We're having a serious
30:32conversation of like not only the one team, but like can you come out of this conference because
30:37as the one seed you probably should be. I think that yeah, you know, I think that this
30:42for both teams we have the conversation. If Green Bay can go into Minnesota and win the game.
30:47Not that I'm not taking. I've been taking Green Bay seriously.
30:51Then that says to me you can go to Detroit and you can beat Detroit. You can go to Philadelphia
30:55and be Philadelphia. You're capable of. You're right now and let me pose this question to you.
30:59Sure, I just talked for like 25 minutes. If I gave you the option of the entire NFC to come
31:05out of the NFC, you know to come out of the NFC. Anybody not in the NFC North or
31:10one of the North teams? Are you picking the North? I'm picking the North you too,
31:15yeah, right? Like it's kind of not hard and hard and from playing each other.
31:19And then you just look at the overall like between the coaches O'Connell and floors have
31:24been awesome this year. Halfly has made a difference for Green Bay defensively,
31:29and the floor I think has gotten better as a head coach, not just a play caller,
31:33which I think is sort of who he's been for the first three, four years.
31:35Three big time home field advantages in places you don't want to play.
31:40You know, Green Bay no longer has the.
31:43Like the Aaron Rodgers over here, but then Aaron seemed to play small at times and in some big
31:49moments later in his career in Green Bay. So like yeah, absolutely. And we know what Detroit,
31:53even with the injuries, the mentality that they bring in the aggressiveness they'll play with.
31:58I I almost wonder now that you've phrased that question to me.
32:03How would you rank him? I'd almost go. Whoever wins this game would be my one.
32:07Yeah, me too.
32:09And depending on the closeness of the game, whoever loses might be two and Detroit might be three.
32:14Just because of the amount of bodies they've lost and wondering can they do this for
32:20likely three games in a row? I don't. I don't know that they can.
32:23Yeah, I think I.
32:26It's hard to not. We've talked so much about Detroit all year,
32:30it's just it is hard to ignore. I mean, look, they again, they smoked Chicago last week, but.
32:35If they can get a little healthier, obviously that changes things, and I think I think if
32:39they can get the ones you don't buy this team that he needs to buy it more than anybody.
32:44But it's hard to not pick Minnesota and Green Bay because they're just
32:48again, look. Both these teams have weeks where you're like,
32:55but like I think I'll give runners a little credit. He talked about Minnesota this week
32:59and was like you can't even do that. Oh, they just like when they get up on teams
33:03like that's not even a thing right like this. Like they're coming back week after week and
33:07then they're also they can run it up on you. They just they always are going to have the
33:11best offensive player in the field no matter who they play and on defense.
33:16They have a top three coordinator, top five worst, and it's also really talented group.
33:23That's the thing that like. The one thing with Minnesota I don't think we talk enough about.
33:27We talk so much about Detroit and I mean and Green Bay. We talk both teams like the defenses.
33:31I feel like. At times we're like, oh, it's like just such a great team effort like dude.
33:36The Packers have like 8 first round picks of the 11 starters on defense and they the other guys
33:40that aren't like they just paid McKinney and like who is the second round like that teams really
33:46groups really talented and the group in Minnesota is really talented like.
33:50Bernard and cash in these guys. They brought in their front seven is excellent Gilmore thing.
33:55When that happened you were like this is a really nice move because if they're competitive
33:59they got a pretty reasonably priced cornerback two or one day one B and if he's bad they'll
34:05trade him and they end up being good and now it's like wow him and Murphy really solid group.
34:09Yeah, they're they're one issue with their secondary is can they if they get it can
34:15they play a ton of man? That's not the you know. Yeah, I don't know. That was that was
34:22Steph a few years ago. He's you know he's in his you know whatever mid 30s 33 whatever it is.
34:27He doesn't run like he used to. You know he's a defensive player of the year and 18 like a
34:30little different. Yeah, it's a it's a different time, but they're smart team too. So that's
34:36you can make with Harrison Smith and Steph Gilmore. They've seen everything in the right spot.
34:40Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I don't know. It's going to be a fun game. I'm fired up for it.
34:46I think it's the best game of the weekend person. Yeah, yeah, and I'm hoping it lives up to it
34:49because we've done a lot of like this is a game of the weekend and then we get to Monday.
34:55Yeah, 3431 awesome awesome game comes down the last two minutes.
35:00Yeah, let's roll with it. I like that. Let's go to the next one.
35:05Denver 9 and six but scuffling against Cincinnati is one three in a row seven and eight.
35:12This is a win it in situation with the Broncos and even if they don't win this one,
35:16they are in a win in situation again next week in week 18 when they play Kansas City.
35:21And as we talked about, we don't know whether Kansas City, how will they approach that?
35:25Having locked up the number one seed to the Bengals? It's winner go home. They can't lose
35:29and they need help. Part of the help they need is for Denver to lose the game so you can do this
35:35straight up head to head. They'd also need any Indianapolis to lose at least one more game over
35:39the final two weeks and Miami to lose at least one more game. But these things are not out of
35:44the realm of possibility with any of those football teams, especially with the way Cincinnati's
35:48playing. Deborah was frisky for awhile and it feels like. We thought there were a year ahead
35:56of schedule and I feel like that's how they've been playing here over the last three or four
36:00weeks like yes indeed what they did earlier credit to them awesome put themselves in position
36:06still probably going to get into the postseason but like the are you afraid of him no are they
36:12not the 2020-2021 pats oh yeah yeah started off strong had a nice little run where nine and
36:23four I want to say and then went one in three one and four and I was like oh max probably
36:30at best fine and he's like not ever gonna be bad although he's become bad because he thinks he's
36:35like Michael Vick but Richard yeah but like that year it was like hey Matt can make three or four
36:42throws a game that are needed and then the rest is very much like just you know like just don't
36:48make the mistakes and good you know really good defense really good defense mixed with like a
36:54couple playmakers that can can do things from time to time I'm not saying that Denver they're a year
37:01ahead but the problem is is I think we talked about this before the season like in a lot of
37:05ways this is also kind of their window in a weird way I'm not saying it's like a there won't be they
37:11can't be good going forward but like you got like this is last year Pat's you know rookie deal
37:17obviously and then you know he's got the extension kicking in and stuff like that but you know you
37:20have picks on the rookie deal but this is obviously a much more like I think a lower ceiling higher
37:25floor prospect and you see the ups and downs and he's made some throws this year that I didn't
37:29think he had in his bag it's also what's really bad at times and no one wants to talk about it
37:34because like a lot of people picked him for rookie of the year yeah I really want to see the Bengals
37:39win this game I'll be honest I'll be I want to see the Bengals in the playoffs in Buffalo and
37:43see an absolute just shoot out I think that'll be the most entertaining game that'd be a really
37:48entertaining game I'd like to see the best quarterbacks in the playoffs I know we're not
37:52supposed to say we're rooting for I just I'm objectively want to see Cincinnati at Buffalo
37:58round two you know of kind of a rematch of a couple years ago in Buffalo some snow and
38:04and the whole thing there's a lot they need a lot of help for sure but like I said I just it would
38:10be interesting to see if Cincinnati can really do this thing and if they don't you know hey they
38:13miss out by half a game you know in the standings Patriots game bills I mean sorry the Patriots
38:22team the Chiefs game early in the year the commanders game these games were like the
38:26Steelers game how did they lose these yep and it'll be interesting to see you know if that
38:32comes back to bite him because again burrow probably works his way to a top three MVP
38:36finish if he can get them in the playoffs because the numbers are absolutely outrageous yeah I'm
38:41with you I want I want to see burrow I want to see chase I want to see Higgins last ride if that's
38:45what it is you know in the postseason think about the possibilities as you mentioned with Buffalo
38:50think about the the cold sweats that will be induced for bills fans that entire week the
38:55mafia like hey they came in and then and look that was the damar hamlin's year and shortly
39:01thereafter you know that was a couple weeks after that that happened on the field against the same
39:06Bengals team so I thought I was covering that team at that point for NFL Network and I and I
39:12set it up to a bunch of people like they were tapped like emotionally physically that team
39:17was exhausted and I wasn't surprised that Cincinnati was able to come in and do what
39:21they did to him because I thought that team was they were lucky to get out of the first round
39:25against Miami and Skylar Thompson the week prior but that would just lead to all sorts of flashbacks
39:31in terms of like don't let Joe Burrow come here again when we're you know when we've sort of
39:37done things that you didn't expect us to do as a Bill's team and then have to face Joe and you
39:41know he's as cool and as cold as could possibly be and that would just be that would be fun that'd
39:46be a fun matchup so yes I am with you I'd like to see the Bengals get the job done all right

40:51active it is quite delicious and delightful uh let's go to your boys the New York football jets
41:01who are in Buffalo this is it's still kind of a big game for Buffalo Buffalo wants to
41:06lock up the two seed and make sure that until they have to go to Kansas City they hope for
41:12the AFC championship game teams have to come through them so okay that's it we don't need to
41:19talk about the bills anymore for you and the jets I have two questions for you is there anything that
41:24can happen here over the final two weeks that can change your view maybe on certain players on this
41:30team bring them back don't bring them back and we've talked about Rogers but maybe some some
41:34other pieces um on this roster is there anything that can happen for you for the next two weeks
41:38that can sort of convince you that maybe somebody you were sitting on the fence on no no no he
41:43should come bring him back bring that guy back not really to be honest I think it's very dangerous to
41:49make those decisions in a in a vacuum like that um look I think the guys the jets should be back
41:54I've been vocal about I think you know maybe I don't think they'll be able to bring back DJ Reed
41:58but I would at least explore it right I think Morgan Moses Tyler Conklin some of these veterans
42:02that are you know high no higher floor guys I think you'd like to see them bring back I think
42:07Rogers and Devontae think you'd love to have Devontae back Rogers it's obviously TBD on a lot
42:11of different things his willingness to even want to play next year your ability um you know a million
42:20there's a million different things so no I think this is a this is a really bad spot for the jets
42:27and I this one came I have a feeling this might get kind of ugly um these teams don't like each
42:34other and the bills have been very vocal about how much they don't like the jets um Deon Dawkins
42:39you know has talked on every podcast imaginable about in every show in America and how much he
42:44doesn't like the jets Josh needs to stat pad for the MVP this is a Jets team that's you know I think
42:52pretty even really they've played hard in every game they have they got I give them credit they
42:56have not thrown in the towel but it's it's you can see the golf course from here uh so
43:04this either is going to be a close game you know 14 14 10 at halftime Rogers gets 500 and it's like
43:11oh this is a entertaining game or this is like 37 to 3 and it's like oh my god like this you know
43:18it's bad so yeah I this game I just I just feel like again with a lot of the just decisions
43:28it should be made over the course of the year and it yeah if Rogers looks good
43:32this week and looks good again next week it's okay man like there is a really big sample size
43:37of like a really nice stretch of play here where the stats look really good and the eye test was
43:41much better um but you know there's the the dead cap stuff there's his willingness to or wanting
43:47to play you don't want to force him on a head coach gm but at the same time he might be your
43:51best option so there's a lot there's a lot there I just think that it's really hard for like if you
43:57make a decision based on one week in the NFL or a couple weeks usually that's what's gets what's
44:03you know gets you a cardboard box and a and a pink slip let me hit you let me hit you with one more
44:08uh it was you know it's just I think just spitballing but Diana Rossini brought up the
44:15idea of Pete Carroll Pete Carroll your thoughts how would you feel if Pete Carroll and I'd be
44:21extremely happy I just just peek at a you know run run it back to 1994 style um you know uh I
44:29doubt it uh but yeah like Pete I I just talked about this on a different pod the biggest thing
44:38the Jets need everyone has it there's like hires are not all equal right like sometimes you need
44:43us you need the offensive mind sometimes you need the defensive mind sometimes you need the
44:46culture you guys sometimes whatever they're all different the Jets need a Vrabel Carroll you know
44:53there's a million other names you could probably list but the I'm going to come and make this an
44:57organization that's competitive every year respectable every year and is going to be
45:01getting back into the right spot I think you know Parcells ended up being very successful
45:05with the Jets but in a lot of ways it was like he reset who the Jets were for a long period like a
45:1015-year stretch where they were in the playoffs most years they were competitive every year they
45:15were you know running playoff games making AFC they made three AFC title games in 12 years and
45:20then they haven't been to the playoffs in 50 like part of it's you know Andy Reid came in and you
45:26know the Chiefs were already kind of you know Pioli and you know a lot of those guys were there um
45:31you know they kind of changed the culture there but the Chiefs were not always like the the marquee
45:35organization the Patriots same thing like you know another Pete Carroll another Pete Carroll team but
45:40you know I'd be open to Pete for sure he's like he'd be a shorter term option he makes more sense
45:46than Bill in the aspect that I don't think that it's going to be the Pete show over everybody
45:50else although at the end in Seattle it seems like he had a little bit more of a hand in personnel
45:53than he probably needed to at this point um but if he's coming in for hey three years I want to
45:59try to get lightning in a bottle here I'll help you reset we'll groom the coach and waiting you
46:03know for me when I'm done I don't know I'm open to it for sure I just wonder would he come back here
46:09kind of wasn't didn't go great uh obviously when uh when he was here the first time but he was a
46:14very different football coach in 1994 than he was that he is in 2024 interesting to me too from a
46:20lifestyle perspective he's been a west coast guy now for something years uh surfing doing all the
46:26things that he does like I do wonder but if if you got the bug and he clearly still has the bug
46:32then what are the options and I think the Chicago thing makes sense my only question would be like
46:40what is is that what's the best move for Caleb it's the best move for the organization probably
46:46because it's a proven guy and I think it is Pete want to deal with the president of football ops
46:51and a GM and waiting and an ownership group I think maybe but yeah that's why that job is a
46:57little bit of a weird job like yeah I know it's a good job but it's also not a good job at all yeah
47:03yeah yeah you got to be careful with how many people you're going to answer to uh last one
47:07last one Chargers at the Patriots uh it's winning in for LA um and they've had a little extra time
47:14off so it's a one o'clock game on Saturday we're taping this on Friday at 1 30 um so I think that
47:21the you know west coast east coast thing should be a little bit lessened on their
47:25behalf just because of the extra time they got to prepare for this game uh
47:30they know Gus Edwards JK Dobbins as of Friday right now is questionable for the game as he
47:37comes back from his knee injury they've struggled at times to run the ball they could definitely
47:42use Dobbins Dobbins has been there by far and away their best back um and certainly that's
47:47something that they want to do with Greg Roman for me and the Patriots that the way I look at this is
47:51the way I look at this is
47:55you gave a a reasonable performance against the playoff team in Buffalo last week and yeah there
48:02were three turnovers and three straight possessions that doomed you in the second
48:05half but 24 21 respectable we talked about what that meant for Mayo and the and the overall program
48:13but to me this reminds me of last year last year they beat the Bills at home week five week six I
48:19forget the the date Mack played really well they won late in the game touchdown pass Mack to Gusecki
48:25and it was like oh here they are they're back they have a chance and then I said I remember being on
48:33uh NBC Sports Boston like the day later or two days later and they said well what does it mean
48:37to you I go it means absolutely nothing if they can't repeat it the next week and I feel like
48:42and they didn't and I feel the exact same way about this one like if you go and say oh well
48:48at least we you know we have this one game that we played late in the year against the Bills and
48:52we gave them hell for for two quarters and then had the late touchdown to make it interesting at
48:56the end if you turn around and get beat by 17 points at home by the Chargers in a standalone
49:03game on a Saturday then I'm throwing out what you did against Buffalo because you weren't able to
49:09repeat that sort of thing like here's a window to build a little bit of momentum people can say that
49:14doesn't matter I do believe at the end of the year it does matter it matters when you're running
49:18back a lot of the same people yeah young team first year coach whatever like so yeah show me
49:24you can do that again and again I don't I'm not sitting here saying they have to win the game of
49:28course that would be nice that's the goal but like just be competitive with the playoff team again
49:33push them make it interesting play well enough that you make you say okay you've given me now
49:40back-to-back games against playoff teams this is something that you can work with as you head
49:45into the offseason a little hey guys what we're doing is actually starting to take root believe
49:50in it a little bit 100% agree competitive effort tough play hard get a couple Drake May moments and
49:59you feel good I think that's you lose this 24 20 and Drake May throws for two touchdowns he
50:05doesn't he breaks the interception streak he's it's very funny like Drake it's a weird comparison
50:12a little Trevor Lawrence rookie year ish from this aspect where like the eye test is like oh looks
50:19good the tape looks good somebody even the advanced analytics look pretty good and then the numbers
50:25are like they're not really actually that awesome like if you look at his stats you'll be like oh
50:30okay like yeah he's typical rookie year but like I feel like he pops a lot on tape so it'd be nice
50:37to see him play you know play a clean game or two here to finish the year just to you know hey can
50:44you get it to 17 touchdowns 11 picks or whatever it is and you know a couple maybe get in maybe
50:49we'll get one of the ends of running the football and you know again see it'd be a nice thing you
50:55can see a decent defensive performance again I thought they were good defensively last week and
50:59can Covington have a back-to-back weeks of decent performances that'd be nice because it seems like
51:04he'd be a guy who might be retained so him having a strong finish against some playoff teams would be
51:08would be good um and yeah I don't the Chargers have to win this game like this is a you cannot
51:15mess around here uh they've had a long you know it feels like a long break yeah just don't don't
51:21get embarrassed at home uh to finish the year I think it you know yeah and uh they played a lot
51:26of hard teams at home this year for sure it feels like a lot of playoff teams um or even
51:31French playoff teams this is a good this would be a nice year to just finish it out strong at home
51:37maybe competitive loss to keep yourself in the Travis Hunter you know race but at the same time
51:41not uh you know not be totally screwed you know with with some of the confidence going forward
51:47all right let's wrap this up with our prize picks I've got three for you uh I'm going to take
51:53Bo Nix against that Bengals defense for more than one and a half touchdown passes
51:59I'm going to take Drake May for more than a half a touchdown pass against the Chargers and
52:06my sneaky one Ladd McConkie less than 72 and a half yards receiving and I say that because
52:13I think Ladd McConkie who was there for the Patriots at 34 they swapped out with the Chargers
52:18to draft Jalen Polk pick up a fourth router which turned out to be Javon Baker those two guys have
52:2412 catches for 87 yards and those 12 catches are all Polk's whereas McConkie has 69 catches 960
52:32yards five touchdowns I think the Patriots understand and they do not want to have Ladd
52:38McConkie just add a little injury insult to injury yes insult to injury and go off on them
52:44in Foxborough so whether that means Christian Gonzalez slides inside at times they double
52:50him at times because quite frankly he's their best receiver if you want to take him away on third down
52:56I would totally understand that or with a healthy John Jones who uh struggled with his health early
53:01in the year but has been back the last couple weeks and looks really really good um that's
53:05the plan I just I think I think in their in their minds don't let Ladd go off just don't let it
53:11happen uh I'll go to a couple ones here Josh Allen more than 213 passing yards um like I said
53:18I think this one may get quite ugly Justin Herbert less than 32 and a half past attempts um I think
53:25they're gonna run the football a lot I think this game might be kind of kind of a drag to watch um
53:31great great I'm excited for it and lastly I'll go Saquon Barkley more than 111 rushing yards
53:37um I think with with no uh with no hurts this week it's going to be Saquon Saquon and more
53:43Saquon and try to get him some numbers uh to get his you know offensive player that you can to see
53:49even stronger so yeah more Saquon in terms of rushing yards less Herbert in terms of attempts
53:53and Josh Allen more passing yards to 213. That puts a wrap on this uh edition of the
53:58All 32 Pop. We'll be back Monday to uh look at the weekend that it was.
