00:00Uh, Hey frog boy, do you have this, uh, this nude Cain's defensive coordinator?
00:05Yeah.
00:06Yeah, I do.
00:06I do.
00:07What about him?
00:08He had his, uh, he had his intro press conference this week.
00:11Great, great, uh, you know, great, great beard on him, you know, uh, football,
00:16you know, he just looks Corey Heatherman, the new Cain's DC from Minnesota.
00:23And, uh, he had his intro press conference and he, you know, he talked
00:27about, they're going to be aggressive.
00:28No, I like that football.
00:31Yeah.
00:31You know, we're going to be aggressive.
00:32Um, you know, we want to be an attacking style defense.
00:35We're gonna be very multiple and, you know, everywhere I've been, it's, you
00:38know, kind of go evaluate who's in the room, you know, who can we attract to
00:43the, to where we are and then, you know, figure out how to plug it in from there.
00:47And, you know, I think there's a lot of really good athletes.
00:49I think there's a lot of talent.
00:50There's a lot of speed on the defensive side of football.
00:52And I think, um, you know, I'm excited about, you know, trying
00:55to figure out exactly where everyone goes and where everyone will work.
00:58But, you know, we're going to be an attacker, attacking, aggressive style
01:00of defense, and, um, you know, we're gonna try to dictate the tempo.
01:04Oh, I love when, uh, I love when tempo is dictated.
01:11Here's the deal.
01:14That all sounds great.
01:15Yeah.
01:16The last defensive coordinator wanted that too, and they couldn't do it.
01:20No, I never heard Guidry.
01:22Nah, I don't think now with that, you know, Guidry, you know, I don't
01:25think had it with that tone, you know?
01:28I'm, I'm, I'm just telling you this.
01:32Everybody comes in with an idea of what they want to do.
01:39Okay.
01:41And then you get in front of the players and you realize this guy can't do this.
01:47This guy can't do that.
01:48I got to tweak this.
01:50I got to do that.
01:51And then you end up with a defense sometimes that you don't want, but
01:55is necessary to try to succeed.
01:58Glad you said that, which is why the Heather man, he said, they're
02:04not going to be a complex defense.
02:06I think we want to play fast.
02:07What we're not going to be very complex.
02:10You know, I think, um, let the guys go out and play football.
02:12I think, you know, when I watch, you know, watch the film and I kind of see
02:16who's on the roster and, and, uh, the guys that are available to us, you
02:20know, I think that's something we can do.
02:21And I think, you know, whatever logo it is or whatever opponent it is, it
02:26doesn't matter, you know, what game it is, what word is in the season.
02:29I want to make sure our guys can just play fast.
02:31And as long as we can do that and we communicate, we play together,
02:34you know, we play with each other.
02:36I think, um, we'll have great opportunity to play any team in the country.
02:40Wow.
02:42Again, do you guys forget when Guidry came in?
02:47No, I don't forget, dude.
02:48I remember I was saying to myself, I'm like, I don't know about this Guidry.
02:54You know, I remember saying that distinctly.
02:57And this guy, Corey had the menu.
03:00You got all excited about the damn strength and conditioning coach.
03:03Stop it.
03:04Oh, with his mustache.
03:05Yeah, of course.
03:06Why wouldn't you be
03:08again, conditioning and strength has been great again.
03:12I'm not saying it will or won't work.
03:15What I'm saying is, is a lot of coaches come into a situation with
03:20an idea of what they want to be.
03:23And the players kind of dictate that more than the coach.
03:27So, but you also said defenses, you said defenses are stupid and
03:31he's going to be not complex.
03:34Yeah, but that doesn't, that doesn't stop the players.
03:38Right.
03:38If, if you can't hear, if you can't read the difference between
03:45play action and a run, right.
03:49And you bite on the play action all the time.
03:53And you get caught in that middle of the field all the time because your
03:59linebacker keeps biting on the play action.
04:02There's no defense in the world that can defend that, that
04:06a coach can put you in there.
04:07At some level, the players got to play.
04:10So I'm not saying that was the situation, but I will say this, what
04:16Guidry wanted to do and what he was able to do for whatever reason.
04:23May have been two different things.
04:26Here's the thing though.
04:27You know, sometimes you do that sideline presence, you know, like I could just
04:30tell when, when, when the dolphins hired Anthony Weaver this year, I was
04:34just like, we're in good hands.
04:35I saw one preseason game of his sideline presence.
04:39And I just knew.
04:40And with Guidry, I was always just like, we'd like this guy to like change my
04:45oil, but I don't know how much I would trust him to run my defense.
04:48You know what I mean?
04:49This guy, I think that's what I said.
04:52I think that's what I said.
04:53I'm pretty sure that's what I said.
04:55And now I think, I think it was, and we got, you know, with Heatherman here,
05:00you know, we're going to stick together like, like birds of a Heatherman.
05:04Let me, let me
05:06don't let that slip.
05:08Don't let that go quickly.
05:10We've heard what he said.
05:11We'll pause.
05:12I know.
05:12Why pause?
05:14So, so
05:20it's back here.
05:20You want to check?
05:21Cause like the mascot is an Ibis.
05:23That's a bird.
05:24Give me that.
05:25Yeah.
05:28What does it control the weather, but reads the way
05:32again, I'm gonna keep saying this.
05:35You are limited by what your players are able to do.
05:38I don't care how good of a coach you are, but that's okay.
05:41Cause you want to know why?
05:43Cause he explained exactly what he's looking for.
05:45And what does that have to do with the players?
05:48He knows what he wants.
05:49Here.
05:49He was
05:52defensive scheme.
05:56And we're going to talk about swarming.
05:57You know, you know, the three things I talked to them yesterday, but I want
06:00you guys to love football.
06:01I want it to be the, you know, I can't wait to get to the football building.
06:04I can't wait to, you know, lift, run, eat, whatever it is, practice, watch film.
06:10I want them to enjoy being here.
06:12And then we play, you know, we want to strike first.
06:16We want to strain all the way through.
06:17We want to finish, you know, on the ball carrier, on the ball, on the air.
06:22Um, but we want to be a physical football team and that we want to play fast.
06:25We want to swarm.
06:26And I think that's what we're going to do.
06:29We want to swarm and I don't want it to be a thing where we're constantly
06:33thinking, or we're, you know, there's a lot going on.
06:35We just want to line up, you know, understand what your job is.
06:38No, my alignment, no, my job, you know, make sure my eyes are in the right
06:41spot and then go play fast.
06:43And that's the biggest thing we want to get across.
06:45And I told the guys yesterday, I was like, listen, there's going to be mistakes.
06:49There's going to be times where wrong, of course, air and spring football.
06:52I don't like go do it, but be a hundred miles an hour.
06:54Cause now you'll, you'll learn from it.
06:56And now that won't happen in the fall.
06:58You know, as we get through spring football into fall camp, you know, by
07:01the end of fall camp, we'll get that out.
07:02We'll get that behind us.
07:04So now you just have confidence.
07:05You have trust in the defense.
07:06You have trust in your teammates around you, and you just have a belief that we're
07:09going to go and get a stop every single time.
07:11And, you know, I think that's been kind of how we've done it in this system in the
07:16past, and I think the guys just believe in one another, they play fast, they trust it.
07:21And, you know, there'll be mistakes.
07:22There'll be things that are wrong, but if we play fast and we play physical, I
07:25think that erases a lot of mistakes.
07:27Man, I'm in, in dude, you are a sucker.
07:36I'm not here.
07:38I'm not, I'm not saying that it is or isn't good, but what I am saying is that
07:48all coaches have a game plan of what they want the defense to look like.
07:53And then you're introduced to the players.
07:56And I would say that it wasn't the defense that was in the wrong
08:02position.
08:03It was the players.
08:05Here's the thing though.
08:07There is, he just said he's going to use spring football to get all
08:09the mistakes out of the way.
08:12I don't think he thought that, I don't think he thought that, you know, maybe
08:15he was too much of a perfectionist and he ran too tight a ship in spring spring
08:21is where you make your mistakes.
08:21Everybody knows that.
08:22That's why they call it spring break, dude.
08:27You can have the greatest coach in the world.
08:30If your players are not any good, it doesn't matter.
08:36You would agree.
08:37No, no, I wouldn't agree with nothing, but let me explain something to you.
08:44The way players were out of position and they gave up big plays on that defense
08:50had nothing to do with the defense that was being called.
08:54It had to do more with the players.
08:57So I don't care what anybody tells me.
09:01Okay.
09:03It's the players more than it is the coach has an attitude that he wants, how
09:11they want to do it, but again, making, making mistakes and I'm more than sure
09:19that Guidry yelled on to the field.
09:21We've been covering this all year and you still went the wrong way, but he's
09:27going to take those cookie drives and turn them from chocolate chunks to
09:30chocolate chips, mistakes every now and then, every now and then, you know,
09:35you know what a little mistake is a safety stepping up and then somebody
09:40running a post right over top of it.
09:42Swarm.
09:43That's what a little mistake is.
09:44He's got this.
09:45Okay, dude, you are.
09:49It's warm.
09:51Fast.
09:52All right.
09:52They call him the B man.
09:55I don't think all of the weather, man.
09:57Tending to his hive.
10:03I'm not ready quitting because I can't, I can't expect.
10:07Yeah.
10:07I just, I can't expect Tobin to not be Tobin, even though, right.
10:16We had defensive end covering, right.
10:19You know why they did that?
10:20You know why they had defensive ends covering room?
10:22So hopefully if they drop six guys in the secondary, somebody would cover somebody.
10:30You could do put whatever twist you want on it.
10:34If the players don't get better, the coach don't matter.
10:40So I'm gonna ask you, you're telling me.
10:46With those guys giving up an average of 30 plus points a game with them, not
10:53covering anybody with them, not tackling right that we just going to change the
11:00face of the coach and all that's going to get better, dude, we're going to turn.
11:07All right.
11:09Doubt it's your own peril.
11:10The Heather man.
11:11Okay.
11:12Okay.
11:13I don't want to be the Debbie down to this as I told you.
11:16Okay.
11:17But at some point it's the players making it about the damn coach.
11:27I understand, but also you're being a little bit of a dismissal.
11:32Yeah.
11:34I don't like that because if you put the same defensive players on the
11:37field and change the coach, I believe you're still going to get the same results.
11:43If a guy can't cover it, don't matter who the coach is, he still
11:47ain't going to be able to cover.
11:49Did you not hear the thing though?
11:50About the swarm?
11:50I don't care.
11:52They're going to love football.
11:53Yeah.
11:54Physical.
11:54Okay.
11:55Okay.
11:56Swarm.
11:57You know what?
11:57Who's the cornerback from Ohio state that played for seven different teams
12:00and at the end of each stint, they all said the same thing.
12:04Dude.
12:04Can't cover Eli Apple.
12:07Eli Apple still falling for the double move.
12:10I can hit him with the double move on the, in the, uh, in the pop tart out.
12:15Get them cinnamons.
12:16I'm out, but he's not a swarmer.
12:20That's right.
12:21I would rather a defense be a swarmer.
12:23You know why?
12:24Cause they fall for all the trickery.
12:27He just said they're going to strike first.
12:29Strike.
12:30That sounds great.
12:32That's what I want to hear with the same guys.
12:36If the guys are the same, they're not going to be the same though.
12:39Why do you keep saying that?
12:40They're going to go into the portal.
12:41They're going to get guys and they're going to be, they're
12:43going to be Heatherman.
12:44All right.
12:45Ooh.
12:46They're going to earn that country guys.
12:48They're going to be Heather men.
12:50Oh, that's what they're going to be.
12:57Cobra canes strike first strike hard.
13:01No mercy.
13:04Okay.
13:05Okay.
13:07Okay.
13:08Okay.
13:09We got to go.
13:10We got to go.
13:10Yes, we have to go.
