00:00Yeah, he's timeless that guy he really is and you know, I just coached him this past summer
00:05coached him in Tokyo and 21
00:08So it's it's been a privilege
00:12Coaching Kevin and watching him, you know as an opponent. He's just a beautiful basketball player just
00:18Maybe the smoothest score who's ever ever played the game dub nation. It's Steve Kerr
00:24You're listening to Willard and dibs on 95 7 the game
00:28Well, thanks coach said that Kevin Durant guy sounds like someone you might want on your team, yeah, he's done well with him
00:35He's only won two out of every three titles when he's had him
00:39You ever get one of those moments where you're like, oh, hold on. I see the whole thing differently now
00:45It's a light bulb. It's an aha. It is. Yeah. Yeah, not the ha ha
00:50Yeah, it's the aha and not the 80s pop band. Aha. No, I don't take on me, right?
00:55Although they might take on KD
00:58Okay, everybody listen to this because you know, no three happy with it. I
01:03everybody listen to this
01:06This is really really really important, I've got no no choice. It's my job. That's right into it
01:12I'm interested you and I do really well with not listening to each other pretty good. Anyway, yep
01:17eight eight eight nine five seven nine five seven
01:22Three things just happened. Did I leave a number out zero?
01:2695-7 I'm excited eight eight nine five seven nine five seven zero
01:31Okay, there's gonna be a big
01:33Aha
01:35Question at the end of this three-pronged delivery that we are about to throw to you right after
01:42Because this literally fell into our laps right at the end of the Steve Kerr conversation
01:48three things
01:50number one
01:53Bovada has removed Kevin Durant
01:56From betting markets with regard to where he may go. What does that mean off the board? Huh?
02:03Don't want to take any more bets on it that indicates that maybe something is in the offing. That's what most would think
02:09Okay, but that's only number one because a lot of you do like that. Okay, so it's off of the overseas market, right?
02:16That's number one. The markets tend to be ahead of the actual thing number two
02:21The Phoenix Suns
02:23just listed Kevin Durant as
02:27doubtful for tomorrow night's game also known as last game before the deadline
02:33Tomorrow's game tomorrow's game not tonight. They just played an overtime game in Portland. They lost it, right?
02:40He played over 40 minutes in that game. He played 46 minutes in that game. They lost back-to-back games in Portland
02:48That's what they did over the weekend after beating Golden State Friday night
02:51they now have the same record as the Warriors again, and they are already listing Kevin as
02:57Doubtful for tomorrow, even though he didn't leave the game with anything other than hurt feelings having lost a board when he left with a sweaty
03:06tank top
03:08That's what that's what he did and 27 points 27 points in loss, which is his average a regular night for Kevin Durant
03:16Third thing and
03:18This just came down from Sam Amick the athletic in
03:23Partnership with our own slates and David Aldridge also other tapped in great NBA writers
03:31First part of the piece is that the Warriors may have company in the Kevin Durant party now you could read this multiple ways
03:39Obviously there would be a lot of teams interested in Kevin Durant, right?
03:41But whenever I see something like this at the last minute. Hey
03:46There are other teams involved. It's the Scott Boris playbook and it's perfect
03:51It is simply Phoenix trying to get more from the Warriors. Hey
03:56Dallas and Houston want him to good for you Dallas and Houston
04:00Dallas you're drunk. I don't even know what the hell you think you're doing and
04:05Houston is a young team that I would argue is
04:08Probably with a great record not in a position to be giving up their young assets for Kevin Durant
04:14Maybe some I don't know but not their top players because they're doing really well. Why would they do that now?
04:20that's my read on the situation, but here's the better part of the article and
04:25Here's where I want you to
04:28Stop what you're doing because you're about to ruin listen to this sentence directly from the article
04:34League sources say four-time all-star forward
04:40Draymond green
04:42who has an established relationship with fellow, Michigan State alum and
04:50son's owner Matt ish Bia is
04:53Among the Warriors players
04:56Phoenix is known to covet stand on it
04:59I
05:04Think this is all
05:06Incredibly fascinating because what it means to me and this is the question that I want to throw out to everybody right now
05:13you got a figure that Phoenix is after a
05:17Few things if this is actually going to come to pass if there is a conversation with the Warriors right now about Kevin Durant
05:23And we have all these reasons to believe that there is
05:27Phoenix is gonna want what a pick or two picks or whatever as many first-round picks as they can get
05:32We've already seen the report that they would like Jonathan Kaminga, and now we need that salary booster
05:39we've all been sitting here thinking it was Wiggins ah
05:43What if it's Draymond who makes only two million dollars less?
05:46And it leads to the question to all of you wonderful 95 7 the game warrior heads
05:53If you have to include one
05:57Approximate 25 million dollar contract to the Suns for Kevin Durant. Would you rather it be Andrew Wiggins or Draymond Green?
06:06How would you answer that a Draymond Green?
06:08So would I I mean what Andrew Wiggins does is I think a lot more
06:14Useful as far as being a score better score than Draymond Green and a wing defender and Draymond Green can
06:21Be the stretch five but less and less so than ever before and he already said earlier this year that he's not as
06:27into playing the five as he used to and now he's dealing with a little bit of of
06:32Injury, and we know that this injury is not like the other injuries
06:36He's had which tells me that the knees need to be iced every time he comes off the floor and the back is a little
06:42Bit wonky Andrew Wiggins doesn't miss games due to injury very often
06:47He misses games due to family off-court issues
06:50and that's well documented and he missed games because he didn't want to get vaccinated back when that was a thing post
06:58Kovat and that's all behind us. But Andrew Wiggins is available
07:01he goes out there and he plays and I do think if you had he and
07:07Kevin Durant as your wings and coming up probably would be a part of this trade
07:11Honestly if you if you're Phoenix and you know, you want to get you would think but the salary thing
07:16Draymond Green is a part of what you want
07:19Draymond Green is not enough Draymond Green and filler and picks to me is not enough. You'd want Draymond
07:25Kaminga filler and then maybe a lesser pick if I'm Phoenix, that's what I'd be looking for
07:31I would think so the salary stuff for both organizations gets very wonky. It's very difficult with the Warriors and the Suns
07:37So knowing that Kaminga it's not just a player
07:40It's whatever you're gonna have to sign him to next year
07:43Draymond is a player who's under contract for a while. So is Wiggins. So those are contracts
07:48They're gonna have to play in the next year
07:50Does this become a three-team deal that leads Jimmy Butler to Phoenix?
07:55And then what do you do like there is a lot to answer here, but for warrior fans
08:00I think that's the focus in this moment
08:03The focus in this moment is now the idea that instead of having to give up Wiggins and Kaminga
08:10You could do
08:12Draymond and Kaminga and whatever draft capital there would probably be another expiring contract thrown in a Schroeder
08:20something like that
08:22But that that gets it done
08:25That gets it done
08:27But it also means now the second leg of the big three would be out the door
08:33And that's an emotional thing for some warrior fans
08:35I know there are also a lot of warrior fans that are like see you Dre. I'll drive you to Phoenix myself
08:41I know that's a thing for a lot of fans. I look at it this way right now
08:46Because I'm mindful for example of what Draymond Green just did last night at the end of that game to Paolo
08:53Bankaro in a major possession. He stood that dude up
08:57He still has that
08:59Defensive juice just not as often right, but he still has it in leveraged possessions, and that's a big deal
09:06but I also remember what Kevin Durant even at age 36 what he means around the rim and
09:13It's very significant. He's not a great defensive player anymore, but he's such a physical
09:20Piece of the puzzle and obviously 610
09:23It changes things around the rim so he can turn into one of the best offensive players in the league and
09:29also to a degree at least at times a rim protector who pairs very well with
09:35Defensive minded bigs like Kavon Looney for example
09:38I think that this kind of an acquisition would be a rebirth to Kavon Looney if he was not in the deal
09:44He's an expiring contract. Maybe he's gonna be in the deal
09:47maybe but maybe not and maybe this is a rebirth to him and
09:51And and and his role and maybe that front court without Draymond of
09:56Durant and Looney, maybe that makes up for the lack of Draymond
10:00I'm with you if I were forced into a decision on this one
10:05And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would rather see Draymond Green go at this point because of
10:14a
10:15They need more scoring so I'd rather keep Wiggins and he's younger and be I
10:22just think that there are at least not all but some in the organization who
10:29Are exhausted? Yeah are exhausted and we've reached that time where it doesn't work anymore
10:35so
10:36Everyone has always been able to wrap their arms around Draymond Green because it worked and now with the organization not winning enough
10:43Basketball games. He's been a good soldier. He's been well
10:47Well behaved this year as promised. So it's not really about that. But I
10:52Just those things that he does well are they're not as consistent anymore. So I'll take the scoring
10:58Yeah, triple eight nine five seven ninety five seventy if you had to deal one of them to get KD
11:03Who would you deal Wiggins or Draymond?
11:05And I do think it's a tough call because Draymond has been such a great warrior four-time champ
11:11And like you said what he did last night defensively is something that will not be
11:16Replaceable when you need a big stop Draymond's the guy and he also hit a big bucket late in that
11:22Whatever shooters touch. Yep. I mean we don't call it lucky when Steph gets an eight bouncer on the rim because he's the best shooter
11:28Ever so I mean, let's not be disrespectful the shot went in
11:32It's a make-or-miss league, but Andrew Wiggins plays more often
11:36He is more consistent and you know Draymond Green last year in his game log
11:41he played in
11:4255 games 55 of the 82 not because of health but because of
11:48Suspension, so if you had to trade one of them to get KD or maybe you're of a mind saying
11:53I don't want to trade either one of them. I don't want KD or two
11:57Opinions out there as well. You're listening to 95 7 the game KGM CFM and HD 1 San Francisco and Odyssey Sports Station
12:03Always live on the free Odyssey out
12:04Twitching YouTube powered by first NorCal credit union for a low rate auto loan
12:08Apply online or just ask for first NorCal financing of the dealer
12:10Also, remember the key word to claim a spot in the knockout tournament at Chase Center is coming up in 10 minutes or less
12:16So stay right where you are
12:18If you're just joining us
12:20Bovada has pulled Kevin Durant's acquisition odds off of the market
12:24The Suns have announced that Kevin Durant is doubtful for tomorrow night's game and the Athletic is reporting that the Suns
12:31Covet Draymond Green
12:33So if you need a 25 million dollar contract in Kevin Durant talks
12:38Would you rather the Warriors include Wiggins or Draymond? It probably would not take both
12:44So which would you rather in the deal dibs and I are both saying Draymond as much as it would hurt
12:50I like we're not I you know haters. I love Draymond Green. I've been a fan of him for a long time
12:56He he he is a champ
12:59But I just think we've arrived at that time where that stuff with clay Thompson gone and whatnot
13:04Like that stuff can't really drive the bus anymore eight at eight nine five seven nine five seventy
13:10Here's what Draymond said last night about the trade deadline and the team
13:15Gotta expect that they're gonna look to be aggressive. It's not an organization that's gonna do anything dumb
13:21But they're gonna look to be aggressive and I understand it. I respect it
13:24So when you're sitting at 500 and you have the expectations
13:28As an organization that we have is definitely gonna be a little more intense and then you add into the fold of and Luca Donchez
13:35Just got traded. So everyone think everything's possible at this point, right?
13:40If you saw that and you didn't call every superstar, you're crazy. Okay, so there's Draymond knowing that everybody is available
13:49We got a super chat from YouTube. Granny. What does it say?
13:52Now the great rich Mitch in $2 to say 30 as in Steph won't trade Draymond ownership needs to do it for him
13:59What do you think Steph? What's with Steph sign off on a Draymond green trade for Kevin Durant? I do I
14:06Do think he would
14:08Absolutely do think he would I?
14:11Listen, I think that these guys know this is a performance based business. It's a results based business and
14:17Listen you watch the way for instance all that controversy with Jordan pool
14:22But you watch the way that they interact with one another when they come back together for pregame and whatnot
14:27There's still plenty of love and friendship there
14:30But you damn well better believe Steph also signed off on Jordan pool getting sent out of the building, right?
14:35And and and then it became clay Thompson. I know that was different because clay kind of drove that one
14:40But just my read on it. Yes, I think there is an absolute
14:45Obsession with winning and being good and this ain't working. And so yes all's on the table in the great
14:51rich mentioned followed up with another super chat saying trade Dre and
14:55Kaminga and I put that in the trade machine and it would be Draymond green Dennis Schroeder
15:02Kaminga and Lindy waters as you're throwing it in and you know
15:05Whatever a pick would have to be included to get KD and that works
15:09Although it does say the Warriors would lose 13 games
15:11of course on the Hollinger analysis, which is just a statistical breakdown and
15:17you know, you have not affected the winning percentage of Phoenix, but I do think if you are able to keep Wiggins and
15:23You bring back KD and you've got Steph and Wiggins and KD is your big three
15:28You still have buddy and Kavon and GP 2 and pods and TJ D
15:33You still have enough pieces. I think around them to this year only
15:38Still tread water and be in the playing at least eight eight eight nine five seven nine five seventy
15:43We're gonna go to the phones in just a sec
15:44But I also want to throw this out there from our conversation with Nick Fridell yesterday
15:48Odyssey NBA insider who covered the KD era Warriors because I know a lot of you have also
15:54I've heard a lot of people say this today KD wouldn't play with Draymond and obviously in this scenario
15:59Maybe Draymond is the one who's in the deal. But would KD still play with Draymond again? Nick said this I
16:06Absolutely believe Kevin Draymond Steph could make it work the key with all of those guys on top of being
16:14Hall of Fame players they want to win and they've been around enough spots in their career
16:19To know that in order for them to win they need players who understand them around them
16:26So I've never bought into this idea that
16:28Kevin could never come back and and it could never work because of all the bad blood that
16:34Happened at the end and then maybe lingered for a few years
16:37I think everybody's in a different place and that's life people change and there is that evolution of what's going on?
16:42but I don't see any reason why Kevin and
16:46Draymond and Steph being the leader that he is couldn't look at each other and go
16:50Okay, we know what this was and what that provided for us
16:54We know what it still can be and all three of us are on two teams right now that just aren't good enough
17:01Why not come back together? Okay, so he says it's still doable doesn't mean it's gonna happen
17:06But just to have that as part of this discussion
17:09One man's opinion is that yes, Kevin would play with Draymond again
17:14And I tell again a much less educated guess
17:18I I sort of I feel the same way just by watching the way they've interacted in the last few years
17:23Yeah
17:23But watching him interact as opponents two or three times a year as opposed to 82 games plus playoffs plus
17:30Preseason road trips and practices and all the rest of it good point. It's a little bit different, you know
17:36I can't help but think about the Olympics this year when Draymond was in the second row and he's cheering everybody on he's waving the
17:42Towel and you know
17:43He and Katie and LeBron and Steph and it was a brotherhood for America and again small sample size on the Champs-Elysees
17:51For a week as opposed to we got you know six game road trip and this guy's wearing me out possession after possession
17:57It feels to me and I've always thought that the two of them couldn't play together again
18:03I could be wrong
18:04but the idea that
18:06Kevin Durant's been ruled as doubtful tomorrow the odds are off the board the deadlines in two days and I'm reading from Chris Mannix that
18:14Phoenix is either going to
18:15Make a deal with Butler and work out a three-team deal or they're just gonna pivot and Kevin Durant on the way out might
18:22Be that pivot
18:23well, and it may have to be the Bradley Beal thing is the linchpin got a no-trade clause and
18:30From what I've heard
18:32Everywhere that they're trying to send him he and his family are like no. Nope. We're not going there and
18:38And so he's the one who actually has the power in that whole thing
18:43And wouldn't it be amazing if that the family desires of Bradley Beal leads to Kevin Durant being a warrior again?
18:49That'd be incredible. I think Larry and Lafayette next up here on Willard and Debs Larry. Thank you for calling
18:57Well, thanks for opening it up it it seems to me that
19:02there was a big shift and
19:05in warrior world when the punch happened and
19:09because of the sort of
19:11difficult and and
19:12ugly nature of that I
19:14Think that changed a lot of things we actually gave pool away or a really decrepit cp3 and
19:22Then we were Dave. We didn't do anything with cp3s contract. That was a big mistake
19:27So we're in this situation. I have a feeling it might have impacted our
19:34reputation as a place to go play
19:37It sure would me if I were a professional player. I wouldn't necessarily want to step in
19:42Where people can come and smash your grill and no consequence
19:47so anyway, I
19:50Will be okay with Dre going away because Wiggins is our only point of attack defender
19:56Which by the way, sometimes it makes me crazy that you compare only as offensive numbers
20:01That is the only guy we've got that can keep people out of the paint
20:05Well, it's a it's a fair point and I this is this is not to absolve me on that
20:10I know you're you're referring to the conversation. We're having an hour ago
20:14The tweet I had sent out did actually mention
20:17Player a is a better defender than player B
20:21So I'm glad you brought that up and brought that to the air because you're absolutely right
20:27Yeah, cuz basically I know that if if I'm sure Dallas would want him
20:32I'm sure the Celtics would probably want him. I you know, he's a really great player going two-way and
20:41Cheerfully taking his shots whenever he can get them. He doesn't call for the ball. He doesn't require
20:48Playmaking. He's just a really all-around good teammate
20:52Larry thank you very much. So it's a really good call
20:54I always feel compelled to bring this up when when people talk about the Jordan pool trade
21:01And and those opinions are totally fair. This is just my perspective. Although it is also what I was told from
21:08Sauces deep within the the warrior community
21:11I I would suggest looking at the Jordan pool trade less about we you trade Jordan pool for Chris Paul
21:18You did but it was more you you traded Jordan pools
21:22Contract for Chris Paul's contract and even though you didn't end up turning that contract
21:28Into a big trade at the end of Chris Paul's tenure you the money expired the money expired
21:35They traded a big contract for an expiring contract, right? And in that moment that mattered to the Warriors
21:41It doesn't matter to you
21:42I get it
21:43But it mattered to the war and it mattered to them that way they could get underneath the second apron
21:48Which is very punitive when you're under that where when you're over that apron in a repeat way
21:53And if they could have turned Chris Paul into another player that would have helped them
21:57They would have done it but they couldn't and so they were happy to just get underneath that apron and now this year
22:04You stay below the luxury tax apron and you can go above it next year and not have the repeater penalty
22:10Which actually costs you a first-round pick down the road
