00:00If you could get Guerrero or Garrett, who would you take and why?
00:05And the thing about Guerrero is he's younger, he's going to be a free agent.
00:10We have to assume that they would sign him, otherwise I'm not sure it'd be worth doing,
00:15given that he would just be a rental and the cost would be high.
00:17Makes no sense if it's a rental.
00:19So which would you prefer, Kang?
00:23And which do you think would have a bigger impact?
00:24Kang, which one do you think?
00:26To me it's easy.
00:27I think it's Miles Garrett for the Lions.
00:30Baseball is very tricky.
00:33Miles Garrett has a bigger resume of being great in this league than Vlad Jr. does.
00:38He's younger, so you think that would help him, but also he has less of a for-sure factor,
00:42you know what I mean?
00:43If that makes any sense.
00:44I feel stronger about Garrett doing something for the next three, four years with the Lions
00:49or with any team he's on than I do about Guerrero, honestly.
00:52Because baseball, look at Javi Baez, and I know Javi was never as good as Vlad Jr. was,
00:57but it's really hard in baseball to stay consistently good for that long.
01:01That's why these monster contracts that are being dealt out in baseball, they are terrible
01:05at the end of these contracts, because no one can live up to those numbers, let alone
01:1110 years, let alone five years.
01:13And I think Garrett makes a bigger impact than Vlad Jr. does for the Tigers as a whole.
01:18Mike Trout, Otani on the same team, won nothing.
01:21I think in baseball it's more of a team sport than it is for football, especially if you
01:25already have your quarterback.
01:26It's interesting, because I guess my concern about Miles Garrett is mostly where he is
01:31in his career.
01:32I went through and tracked a lot of elite pass rushers, and they're not all this way,
01:37but most of them when they hit the age of 29, 30, you can see a pretty significant decline.
01:45And not everybody, not everybody, but it felt like most of them when I sat down and looked
01:50at the last 10 years.
01:52With that said, how many of those guys played opposite Aiden Hutchinson?
01:59There would be such an opportunity, and other teams would be totally, they'd be trying to
02:05build a scheme around having two elite edge rushers.
02:08How do you build an offensive scheme?
02:10What do you have to dedicate to try to slow that down?
02:13You try to run up the middle.
02:14I mean, I guess, but it would have such a huge impact.
02:20I would think a 25-year-old baseball player that's been as good as Vlad Guerrero has would
02:25impact, would definitely impact longer in Detroit than Miles Garrett would in Detroit.
02:32And it would make sense to lock him up long-term, otherwise you're really not, you know, there's
02:38no point in doing it.
02:39But anyway, 2-4-8-5-3-9-97-97.
02:40Look, I like Vlad Guerrero Jr. a lot.
02:45I question what his numbers are going to be if he moves outside of that division.
02:50Will he be able to keep up monster numbers?
02:54Because when you're playing a bunch of games inside a dome, and then you play other games
03:00at hitter-friendly parks like Fenway, Yankee Stadium, and Camden, and Tampa, those are
03:07very hitter-friendly ballparks, numbers can inflate a little bit.
03:10This guy can hit anywhere.
03:12I really like him.
03:14But he's already trending to be a future D.H.
03:18Like real soon, because he's not, and he's already moved positions once, and now he's
03:24at first base.
03:25It's like if you're at first base and you can't, if your skills are declining there,
03:28there's only one other place to go, and that's D.H.
03:32That's the knock on it.
03:33The upside is obviously he can flat-out hit, and if this team can be competitive, you know,
03:41without him, imagine what they'd be with him.
03:43I get the appeal to it, and there is appeal to it.
03:46But I worry about is that money that they were looking to sign Bregman, would they throw
03:53that at another player, and then does that stop them from throwing it at Scouble?
03:57Because I'm surprised that they haven't already tried to throw it at Scouble, or at least
04:01we haven't heard anything about that.
04:02Let it play out a little bit longer, I suppose, but that's, I guess, where my head is at,
04:09is knowing the Tigers are going to have to spend money, not only on Scouble, but on Riley
04:14Green and on other players whose contracts will be up in a couple of years.
04:18So right now, the window's here right now, and maybe you take advantage of that.
