Some scattered showers across the south of the UK and Scotland at this afternoon, with cloud across much of the country. This will push eastwards through the day, leaving some sunny spells amidst temperatures warm for the time of year. Into the evening, the cloud and showers should fade away, with a clear night expected for many. This will bring fog especially to southern areas, which is likely to be slow to clear tomorrow morning. More cloud is expected in the far north, where there will be some strong gusty winds throughout this evening and tonight. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 22/10/24. 00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday lunchtime weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Now, through today we do have some showers lurking out there.
00:09Towards the south they're fairly scattered, a bit more cloud through the next few hours
00:13and a keen wind towards the north and here, yes, a scattering of showers as well.
00:19Elsewhere they could just pepper the land as well as the coastline
00:23but they will be the exception rather than the rule.
00:26Many areas through the afternoon having some fine conditions with some sunshine.
00:30Temperatures then 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.
00:34So a pleasant afternoon although still windy towards the far north
00:38and it could be a bit gusty associated with any showers which could turn to hail at times.
00:43Now through the evening and overnight showers tend to fade away.
00:46We'll see more cloud arrive across the far north and west with some patchy rain
00:50as those winds pick up some strength
00:53and that cloud spills down towards most of Scotland, the far north of England.
00:57At the same time, mist and fog will form across central and southern parts of England and Wales
01:02widespread across the Midlands towards East Anglia as well as the southeast
01:06and this fog will be slow to clear as we head into Wednesday morning.
01:09Lowest temperatures probably around 4 or 5 degrees Celsius.
01:13So a murky start in the south.
01:15We'll see some brightness across some parts of northern England, the far north of Wales.
01:20Always more cloud across Northern Ireland and western Scotland
01:23with some patchy rain through the morning.
01:25But the cloud will break elsewhere allowing for some brighter skies
01:28and certainly some brighter weather further south as we head through the afternoon.
01:31Again, the odd shower can't be ruled out here
01:34and the cloud will just come and go through the day.
01:37Now the winds will be fairly strong towards the north
01:39so a bit gusty over the highlands and the hills.
01:42As temperatures arrive around 14, 15 degrees Celsius across Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:4715, 16 or 17 across England and Wales.
01:52So through Wednesday evening and overnight, well a little change towards the south.
01:57A bit more of a breeze so any fog will be fairly patchy
02:00and many areas seeing some clearer skies here.
02:03However, notice this cloud and rain arrives.
02:05The winds pick up even further and this rain will be persistent across the west
02:10as we head through Thursday.
02:11Ahead of it, there could be a few showers.
02:13Brighter skies towards the east where temperatures will arrive around 17 degrees Celsius.
02:18However, this wet weather heralds a wet spell of weather
02:21as well as some stronger winds as we head through Friday and into the weekend.
02:25I'll see you later.
