00:00Heads or tails Gator? Tails. Gator calls tails. Tails it is. Would you like to receive or
00:07defer? I'd like to receive. Oh, aggressive Gator. I like it. Here we go. Real quick,
00:12real simple, real easy. Question number one, is Nebraska back? They're not all the way
00:18back like national championship back, but they're back. Uh, they have an easier schedule
00:24in the big 10 this year. They, uh, the only ranked teams that play are, uh, they play
00:27Ohio State and USC and they're both on the road. This is a good Nebraska team. They're
00:33well coached. Okay. First of all, the coach is good. It was going to take him a little
00:36bit of time and this is happening perhaps quicker than people thought, particularly
00:40with a true freshman quarterback in Dylan Rayola. Uh, but Dylan Rayola is really, really
00:47good. I'm very impressed by him. I'm impressed by their defense and they are playing inspired
00:52football and they have a great fan base. I think they're back. This question gets asked
00:57every few years with Nebraska football, whether it be Callahan or Paulini or Frost, or this
01:01is just the first time we're asking it with Matt rule as the head coach. Are they back?
01:06Well, landing, uh, the Rayola kid, the quarterbacks, probably the most important Nebraska recruit
01:11in the last 10 or 15 years because he's a legacy five-star quarterback who had committed
01:16elsewhere and now he can become the Pied Piper of this sort of flat line bluebrud, uh, college
01:22football program. I think it's too early to say they're back. UTEP lost to Southern Utah.
01:27So that's one of their wins and Colorado can be a total mess when it's all said and done,
01:31but they got some program momentum and Nebraska might be more than just a volleyball school.
01:35So I don't think they're back yet, but if I were a Nebraska fan, I'd be very encouraged.
01:39Yeah, it's, it's too soon to say they're back. And to me, honestly, even it takes more than
01:43one class to say you're back. I mean, this is a great start. This cosplay Mahomes quarterback
01:47they got out there. He looks pretty good. Um, so I, I, I thought actually Matt rule
01:52would get it done a little earlier. Maybe my expectations are way high, but I'm a big
01:55fan of Matt rule. But I think once he gets, you know, this rolling and then we talk about
01:59the next class and then we can say they're back, but not quite yet.
02:03All right. Following Auburn's loss to Cal last Saturday, quarterback Peyton Thorne was
02:09on the next road podcast. And he said that betters have contacted him on Venmo, requesting
02:15him to refund money that they lost on their Auburn bets. Your thoughts on this? My first
02:19thought is, can I contact major league eating and Joey chestnut and like try and get some
02:25money because they, you want your, I don't want, no, I I'm, I'm really upset for them
02:29having me retired.
02:34This is absurd. Okay. Blaming other people. When you made the bet, nobody forced you to
02:42make the bet. I mean, who's bad. Is it, is it your bad judgment? I know. And Thorne had
02:50a good attitude. I went and watched the podcast. He had a good attitude about it, but this
02:54is, this is, I it's crossing a line. It's crazy. People need to leave, especially college
03:01athletes alone, but you kind of really, and I get it when you're in the stadium and you
03:04boo them and heckle them a little bit, but outside of that, they're people, man, lay
03:09off. I mean, this is the betting aspect. This is the ugly side of it. And one of the ugly
03:13sides you can see from it. I don't like this. It's another reason for me not to get Venmo.
03:18Like, is people going to harass you? How do people get his account? I don't know how I'm
03:23glad I don't know how it works, but I assume you have to give out your account for people
03:27to get your account. So somehow fans got his account. That's ridiculous. Fanatics suck.
03:33Okay. That's, that's not good to give fans a bad name.
03:37But the other thing in this, I wish he didn't address the betting aspect, like saying he
03:42said something to the effect of whether it was joking or not, but he said that, you know,
03:47nobody gives me money when, when I win bets for them, don't even mention that. Just stay
03:51away from that because that's the whole thing that people get upset. And then they're like,
03:55Oh, is there improprieties here? No, it was just like, it was a comment like Aiden child
03:59shouldn't have made that comment a couple of weeks ago. Don't make a comment about this
04:02at all. But this whole situation is a re deck your last.
04:07Well, welcome to getting in bed with sports betting and y'all big NIL contracts and players
04:12getting essentially paid. Listen, you guys know, I say this all the time. First of all,
04:16fans are crazy college football fans. Y'all are even crazier and guess who's crazier than you
04:21sports betting guy. Okay. So when you mix all that together, not a good, you know,
04:26it's not going to come out good for, for anybody. Cause someone's always going to lose a bet.
04:29You know, there's a winner and there's always a loser. So someone's going to be pissed off.
04:33This is what it's come to though. If you want, you know, it's all about money now is it nowadays
04:37and now, and unfortunately for the player, cause I don't think they deserve this. This stuff is
04:41going to happen. All right. Four form former Michigan players are suing the NCAA and the
04:48big 10 network for loss NIL revenue. What are your thoughts on this?
04:52This is annoying as hell. I mean, I'm sorry. The rules changed after you left schools and
04:59I don't know if all the guys entered the pros, but a couple of those guys definitely played in
05:02the pros for a while. This bothers me to no end. I wish that they would simply appreciate what they
05:07were given a scholarship athletes at the time, recognize things have changed. And, and again,
05:12Hey, your dreams and aspirations of, of getting paid while you were in college
05:16above board. That didn't happen for you while you were there. It happens for these guys now.
05:23It's just the way it is, man. Let it go. It's you. You're not entitled to that money.
05:28Well, I'll just say this. The moment they pass this NIL ruling, I'm like,
05:32I know what's going to happen next. And I think this is going to be the first of thousands. And
05:36if they, where's the money going to come from if they have to pay everybody that ever played.
05:41And I just think it's somewhat unrealistic to think that this could possibly happen.
05:46And I think they'll probably lose the case. Yeah. I think this is dumb. I mean,
05:49they're trying to be the next Ed O'Bannon's here. I mean, when they signed up to play football at
05:54big time colleges, especially Michigan, right. And I'm talking to anyone that's on board with
05:58this, you know, you're, you're trying to be on TV. Actually, maybe one of the biggest reasons you
06:03sign with that program is because you're going to be on TV. Where did you think they got all
06:08that money from to give you scholarships and update the, the weight room and things like that
06:12TV. So yeah, maybe moving forward, they can talk about this, but it sounds to me like,
06:17if you want something like that, you're going to have to get together a union,
06:19kind of like the NFL does. And I don't know if that's possible or not, but sorry, too late,
06:23move on. All right. Colorado, a disappointing loss at Nebraska. It's only year two,
06:31but is it ever going to work big time for Dion in Boulder?
06:35I'm not a believer when you basically build almost your entire roster on the portal. I think it leads
06:41to very transient relationships and it's hard to let roots grow to coach kids. And I got to tell
06:47you the way Dion sort of acts. I can't help but think the moment his sons are gone, he's gone.
06:54And so I would bet against it. The thing is I've, I've been rooting for him and I like watching
06:59Colorado games because it feels like there's always something going on, whether good or bad,
07:03it's either a thing of beauty or disaster. But, um, you know, I, I, I would bet against
07:09it working right now. I love Dion and I want to root for him, but the longest thing goes on the
07:14way that he's done it. I don't think he's building anything. And maybe it's me not being
07:19closely associated with the Colorado football program to notice what they do in recruiting,
07:23but he can't help but notice all the transfer portal guys. And what's going to happen when
07:29his sons and Travis Hunter leave? Cause that's, what's going to happen real soon, right? After
07:34this season, Shador Sanders is gone and Travis Hunter is gone. Now what I know they have like
07:39five or six scholarship quarterbacks or they got five or six quarterbacks on the roster anyway.
07:43And a lot of those guys are their sophomores and freshmen. But I don't know if any of those guys
07:48is four or five star caliber. And what you had was Shador Sanders is a guy who got the ultimate
07:55coaching. I mean, he'd been working with the Mannings and then, and all these other great
07:58quarterbacks and he's been tutored by the very best. These other guys aren't. So, I mean,
08:04I wanted to succeed, but I just don't see it happening because he's not building.
08:08I don't know if it's going to, but I think definitely think it can because they have
08:11the resources. I think Deion, take away all the, you know, the theatrics and stuff. I think he is
08:16a good coach. We'll see how he does without, you know, the two star players you guys mentioned
08:20leaving, but you can't do it all on transfer portal. You're right. But I think Deion Sanders,
08:25the name right there, he can recruit. I think they have the resources with alumni and boosters.
08:30So I think it can happen. I'm just not sure. Well, and these things do take time. We'll see
08:34how he does after the two star players leave. All right. Notre Dame loses to Northern Illinois
08:43is Marcus Freeman in trouble. Yep. He's coaching Notre Dame. Isn't he? You're always in trouble
08:48if you're the coach of Notre Dame. And particularly if you lose to Northern Illinois, after you lured
08:53them to come in with a $1.6 million payout, and then you lose a national television to the Huskies
09:01of Northern Illinois, that's not good. I like Marcus Freeman a lot. I think he might be one
09:06hell of a defensive coordinator. I don't know if he's a hell of a coach. I like his demeanor.
09:10Every time you see him in an interview, I think he's awesome. I think I would like to play for
09:13this guy, but the standards are set so high at Notre Dame, you better exceed them. And when you
09:19are Notre Dame and you have all of those resources, you got to win. And with the schedule this year,
09:25now they got to run the table to make the playoff because their schedule is a joke.
09:29Last year's losses for Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame were to Ohio State, Clemson,
09:34and one other big boy. I can't remember who it was. But the year before, remember,
09:38they lost to Marshall. And now they got a Northern Illinois loss. Look out for Miami
09:42of Ohio in two weeks. Because right now, if I'm the AD at Notre Dame, I'm supporting my guy. And
09:49I am kind of in the back of my mind going, the hell? You can't lose to those teams repeatedly.
09:57It's going to happen every once in a while. Got it. You're Notre Dame. You're going to get
10:00everybody's best shot. And you're going to lose to the big boys every once in a while. But these
10:03are ones when you start stacking these up, it's a problem. Yeah, I don't think he's in trouble yet.
10:08They can still make the playoffs. I mean, yeah, running the table might. It's actually very
10:12realistic for Notre Dame. I think they can do that. They can still make with a new playoff
10:16format. I think just get into the playoffs, do some damage there. Yeah, it's going to.
10:20It might be rocky. You can't lose the Northern Illinois. You don't want to make that North
10:24Illinois. If that's the only loss in your schedule, it's still there. I mean, I still
10:27think they get in if they run the table. But yeah, you don't want to make that thing a habit
10:30losing to those type of teams. But I think, yeah, get over this. Look past it. These things do
10:34happen. I don't think he's in trouble yet. Our last one, Wisconsin hosts. They host Alabama
10:43this Saturday. Big noon kickoff. Badgers a 16 point underdog. Can they pull off the upset?
10:49I so want to say yes. And prior to the season, I wanted to bold ass prediction.
10:53Wisconsin over Bama. It doesn't feel to me like a vintage Wisconsin team built on a great rushing
10:58attack. Chesma Lucy continues to put up mediocre numbers. Cade Giacomelli. Remember the name. He
11:04might be their new great running back, but I'm I don't think they I think they can keep it close,
11:09but I would not think I don't think they can beat Bama guys. They have no shot.
11:12They've gotten off to a slow start against weak teams, and we've seen what Bama can do.
11:16Bama can roll when they need to roll. They rolled in the fourth quarter last week when
11:20things got a little tight against South Florida. They smoked their opening opponent. This Alabama
11:25team is going to just keep improving all season long, and we're just going to take it to Wisconsin.
11:29I'm going to give you the breakdown here. No, not happening, guys.
11:33And that concludes the transfer portal and I live animal mascot trophy game thingy.
