00:00Palestinians gathered in the Ramallah city center to mark the one-year anniversary of
00:16Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.
00:23Citizens in Tel Aviv gathered near the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demand
00:27the release of their relatives held in Gaza.
00:35And armed criminal groups carried out an attack in central Haiti, killing at least 70 people
00:40and displacing some 6,300 others from their homes.
00:50Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the De La Sousa studios
00:54in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
01:13On Monday, Palestinians gathered in Ramallah city center to mark the one-year anniversary
01:17of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.
01:21Israel's year-long offensive in Gaza, one of the deadliest and most destructive in recent
01:25history, has killed more than 41,000 people, over half of them women and children.
01:30The security situation in the West Bank has also significantly worsened over the last
01:35year.
01:36Almost 722 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by the occupation forces and
01:41Israeli settlers.
01:42The Israeli onslaught has displaced most of Gaza's 2.3 million people and sparked a humanitarian
01:48crisis that has led to widespread hunger.
01:51A year has passed and Israel is stumbling.
01:57It is committing massacres against our people, our children and our houses.
02:01But we are victorious.
02:02Today, we are taking Israel to international courts.
02:05Today, the Palestinian cause is on the top of issues.
02:09The Palestinian cause is now recognized by all the countries, as well as in the International
02:14Criminal Court.
02:15This is the victory of October 7th, October 7th has united the countries, Iraq, Lebanon
02:21and Iran.
02:23I have been in Ramallah since the start of the war.
02:26It is hard to make a living.
02:27A lot of people from Gaza are here and they are unemployed.
02:30God knows how they can pay for the accommodation, the cost of living and how can they manage
02:35their life.
02:36Their wives and children are under shell fire.
02:38They are living in tents.
02:40They don't know if there will be a new day for their children.
02:43They sleep worried and they wake up worried.
02:45There is no safe place in Gaza, not schools, mosques or hospitals.
02:49There is no safe place for families.
02:51We want a solution for this.
02:53Enough of war."
02:54In Palestine, also one year after the beginning of the genocide in the Gaza Strip, Israel
03:01continues its attacks and murders dozens of Palestinians in Hanjounis.
03:06Local authorities report that Israeli forces ordered the displacement of Palestinian citizens
03:10in eastern Hanjounis following the start of an incursion against this town in the southern
03:14Gaza Strip.
03:16In this regard, authorities stated that Israeli forces destroyed streets leading to the eastern
03:20entrance of the government hospital in Jenin and destroyed the entrances to stores and
03:26houses in the region.
03:28Authorities denounced that the recent aggravation makes it difficult for ambulances to reach
03:32the wounded.
03:38In this context, Palestinian authorities report 986 health workers killed in Israel's genocidal
03:43actions in Gaza.
03:44During a year of aggravation, more than 300 humanitarian workers, mostly from the United
03:50Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees, 419 teachers, 175 journalists, were killed by
03:57Zionist forces in Gaza.
03:59For its part, the World Health Organization warned that 10,000 people are still missing,
04:03some of them under the rubble after the Tel Aviv bombardments in the region.
04:15And in Yemen, millions demonstrated on Monday in Sana'a on the occasion of the one-year
04:19anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance
04:23movement Hamas against the Zionist regime of Israel.
04:27On the motto Storm Towards Freedom, citizens showed their support to the Palestinian people's
04:32resistance while condemning the aggravation of the Tel Aviv regime in Gaza and the assassination
04:38of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
04:40They also rejected the massacres committed by Israel against civilians in Lebanon and
04:44Palestine.
04:45Demonstrators expressed that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation weakened the capabilities of the
04:50Zionist regime.
04:53And one of the main targets of the Israeli aggravation during the past year has been
05:00the Palestinian health system, as the Zionist regime has repeatedly attacked hospitals and
05:06medical facilities throughout the Gaza Strip.
05:08From Palestine, our correspondent Huda Hegassi, with more on the matter.
05:16During this year of the Israeli genocidal war, Israel has been attacking different vital
05:21sectors here in the Gaza Strip, but the health system has been among the main sectors that
05:28have been damaged.
05:30During the year, Israel has attacked 34 hospitals out of the total of 37 that were here in the
05:36Gaza Strip, leaving only four hospitals active.
05:42I am at this moment at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, one of the four that remain active
05:47in the Gaza Strip and the only one that is in the central governorates of Gaza, and that
05:53is providing medical health care to more than 1.5 million Gazans.
06:00In addition, more than 80 medical centers have been attacked and taken out of service,
06:07and more than 900 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses and ambulance drivers, have
06:13been killed during this Israeli war.
06:16Furthermore, more than 3,000 medical personnel have been arrested by the Israeli army, either
06:24inside the hospitals of the Gaza Strip or in the different areas of this coastal enclave.
06:31Also, 130 ambulances have been directly attacked when they were carrying out their service
06:37of transferring the wounded, of transferring victims to hospitals, evidencing how the health
06:45system has been directly targeted.
06:50Due to these attacks and the restrictions imposed by Israel, the entry of medicines,
06:57medical supplies, as well as fuel, has been affected, preventing hospitals and medical
07:02centers from being able to work.
07:05As a result, the patients have been impacted the most.
07:10During this genocidal war, patients, especially those with chronic diseases such as diabetes
07:15or cancer, have been prohibited from receiving treatment or even being able to leave the
07:21Gaza Strip to receive the necessary treatment abroad, especially since the closure of the
07:26borders.
07:29We will now speak with Mr. Ismail al-Thawabta, the government's media director here in the
07:34Gaza Strip, to tell us about the attacks carried out by the Israeli army on hospitals in Gaza.
07:43The Israeli occupation army attacked 15 vital sectors in the Gaza Strip.
07:48One of the most prominent and affected sectors from these attacks is the health sector.
07:53The Israeli plan confirms that the health sector must be destroyed in the Gaza Strip.
07:58They worked to destroy it via three paths.
08:00The first path, the Israeli occupation army destroyed, burnt, and put out of service 34
08:05hospitals, leaving only one government hospital that provides humanitarian services to more
08:10than 1 million people in the center of Gaza.
08:13The second path, the Israeli army killed 986 doctors and nurses to completely eliminate
08:18the health sector.
08:20The third way is that the Israeli occupation has prevented the entry of treatments, medicines
08:26and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip.
08:29Now the doctors in the remaining operating rooms perform surgical operations without
08:34anesthesia and sterilization equipment, and this is a real danger for the doctor and also
08:38for the patient.
08:42We are therefore facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
08:48That is why we must intervene to put an end to this crisis before it is too late.
08:52As we have been assured by the government media spokesmen here in the Gaza Strip, the
09:00main victims have been the sick, the patients who have not been able to have the necessary
09:05medical assistance or receive the necessary treatment or medicines.
09:12The continuous attacks that the Israeli army has been carrying out to different hospitals,
09:16but mainly to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, have been condemned.
09:21Inside this medical center, more than six direct attacks have already been reported,
09:26either in the tents of the refugees or even in the tents of the journalists.
09:34Therefore, the message today, especially on this anniversary, is to the international
09:38community, to the World Health Organization, that enough is enough.
09:43We must put an end to these attacks that the Israeli army is carrying out, especially on
09:48the centers and hospitals, since these areas are supposed to be safe, should be humanitarian
09:55and should not be attacked.
09:57And therefore the message is that we must put an end to these attacks here in the Gaza
10:01Strip.
10:03Let's now take a short break, but remember you can join us on TikTok at TELUS for English

10:33Welcome back.
10:34Pakistani authorities are investigating a large explosion that occurred this October
10:386 outside Karachi airport killing two Chinese citizens and injuring others.
10:43The Chinese embassy in Pakistan reported that a convoy carrying Chinese workers from a power
10:47company was attacked near the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
10:51As a result of the explosion, two Chinese citizens were killed, another was injured
10:56and the other seven victims belonged to the local population.
10:59An inspector general of police told the media that apparently an oil tanker explosion had
11:04taken place, adding that they are still investigating the incident and that it is too early to give
11:09a full assessment of the crime, in which police officers were also killed.
11:18According to first reports, a fire broke out in an oil tanker involving several vehicles
11:25and causing collateral damage.
11:27We are trying to assess whether there is an element of terrorism and we have not ruled it out.
11:32Chinese and North Korean leaders celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
11:37Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that the establishment of diplomatic ties between
11:40the two countries allowed mutual support in consolidating socialism, defending national
11:45sovereignty and promoting peace in the region.
11:48North Korea's President Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his government's commitment to strengthen
11:53cooperation with China, in line with the interests of both peoples and the requirements
11:58of the new era.
11:59The two leaders wish each other mutual prosperity, success in consolidating their achievements
12:03and progress in becoming increasingly modern societies.
12:11In Kazakhstan, the construction of a nuclear power plant was approved on Sunday through
12:15a referendum with 66.23% support and 63.87% turnout, according to preliminary data presented
12:22by the country's Central Electoral Commission.
12:25More than 12.2 million Kazakhs voted on Sunday to agree or disagree on the government's
12:30proposal to build the country's first-ever nuclear power plant.
12:33During the process, it was reported that there were no major incidents.
12:37In addition, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, went to the polls earlier
12:42in the day and cast his vote at a polling station in the capital city of Astana.
12:47The construction of a nuclear power plant will reduce Russia's electricity imports
12:50and its dependence on fossil fuels, as the country is 80% dependent on coal mines that
12:56generate electricity, a highly polluting sector.
13:06The Russian government accused Ukraine of planning a false flag attack with toxic substances
13:10during military operations.
13:12The Russian Defense Ministry reported to have intel on Ukraine, training more than 40 security
13:17agencies in the Hague to take samples documenting the use of toxic substances.
13:21In turn, the Ministry said that the evidence will be handed over to the representatives
13:25of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to prepare a fair report.
13:30The Defense Ministry warned about the request of the permanent mission of Ukraine to the
13:34European Union to supply about 283,000 hazmat suits and 20,000 kits for the rapid containment
13:41of chemical warfare agents.

14:17Welcome back.
14:21On Sunday, Mexican entities and political leaders paid homage to the late president
14:25of the Chamber of Deputies, Eugenia Martinez.
14:28Martinez was an outstanding left-wing feminist in Mexico who passed away at 94, four days
14:33after she had led Claudia Sheinbaum's swearing-in ceremony.
14:36On Friday, Martinez posted on X that handing in the presidential satchel to the first woman
14:41president was one of the greatest honors of her life.
14:45Meanwhile, President Claudia Sheinbaum sent her deepest condolences.
14:48Moreover, legislator Ricardo Monreal described her as an extraordinary woman.
14:53Furthermore, the autonomous National University of Mexico praised her as a distinguished economist
14:58and a tireless fighter for freedoms and democracy.
15:08An armed member from a criminal group carried out an attack in central Haiti killing at
15:12least 70 people and displacing some 6,300 others from their homes.
15:17The attack on Sunday occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, and many left on
15:22foot in the middle of the night taking only their children and other relatives with them.
15:27Currently, almost 90% of the displaced are staying with relatives in host families.
15:32Violence from criminal groups in the Artibonite department, which produces much of Haiti's
15:37food, has increased in recent years.
15:40The International Organization for Migration said on October 2nd that over 700,000 people,
15:46more than half of them children, are currently internally displaced in Haiti.
15:54They shot at us and the gangs robbed the houses.
15:58They tried to kill everyone and some people were shot in the head.
16:10And on Monday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center informed that by 9 a.m., Hurricane
16:20Milton strengthened into Category 4.
16:22Experts predicted that Hurricane Milton can potentially reach Category 5, grounding the
16:26record warmth of the Gulf of Mexico.
16:29In addition, the center forecasted that both dangerous hurricane-force winds and storm
16:34surge with damaging waves are expected across portions of the northern coast of the Yucatan
16:39Peninsula.
16:40Therefore, the Mexican government issued a hurricane warning for the Yucatan Peninsula
16:44coast from Celestun to Rio Lagartos.
16:47Meanwhile, the NHC alerted that environmental conditions will pose life-threatening risks
16:52at the west coast of the Florida Peninsula as of Tuesday evening or early Wednesday.
16:57Hence, authorities issued warnings and urged people to take precautions.
17:05On October 10, 1980, in the midst of the armed conflict in El Salvador, the Farabundo Martí
17:11Front for National Liberation was founded.
17:13On Sunday, founders, leaders, and militants commemorated the 44th anniversary of the organization
17:18that became a political party.
17:20From San Salvador, our correspondent Roberto Hugo-Presa with details.
17:27Revolutionary music brightened up the atmosphere.
17:30Former fighters who took up arms for 12 years celebrated the 44th anniversary of the unification
17:36of five guerrilla groups that on October 10, 1980, formed the most important guerrilla
17:40organization in El Salvador.
17:43It is a historic moment where the synthesis of all Salvadoran revolutionaries unite in
17:53a single fist to strike harder and make the history of an armed conflict of a revolutionary
18:00people's war that lasted 12 years.
18:06This commemoration honored the memory of thousands of revolutionary fighters who died before,
18:12during, and after the war.
18:13The historical cadres of the former guerrillas were absent.
18:16Many left the country when judicial proceedings were announced against them.
18:24Many of the leaders of the Farabundo Martí Front for National Liberation are victims
18:28of arbitrary judicial persecution based on proceedings without any evidence, totally
18:33illegal proceedings.
18:36They are kept out of the country.
18:38They have had to seek protection and refuge in friendly countries.
18:44We are under a neo-fascist regime that persecutes the social fighters, the members of the front,
18:50the founders.
18:51Many of our comrades are in exile.
18:53Others have opened processes.
18:55Others are in jails.
18:59But this coup did not break the spirit of thousands of revolutionaries who continue
19:05to accompany the people in their struggle for their rights.
19:09Because we are seeing that the government has forgotten the social agenda and has dedicated
19:13itself to an economic agenda in which few will benefit and many will suffer the effects
19:18of this economic issue in El Salvador.
19:24Before a euphoric militancy, the General Secretary called on the workers to defend
19:28the conquests achieved, especially teachers and health workers whose pay scales were eliminated
19:33by the government.
19:37We condemn the lack of transparency in the use of public funds and repudiate the abusive
19:42salaries of officials and employees in favor of the regime.
19:46Just as in the past, today we raise our voice for all those whose rights have been violated.
19:54The maximum leader of the organization expressed his solidarity with the peoples of Palestine
19:59and Lebanon, who are the object of genocidal attacks, and condemned the criminal blockade
20:05that the United States maintains against Cuba and Venezuela.
