00:00Sam Osborne is off the road and that looks like it's down at the old hairpin sort of McLean-Schwab's curve area
00:06Yeah, so this is how it happened. He's off the road
00:08Oh, yes
00:09He spun across the track, hasn't he, coming out of the old hairpin across the circuit where the old spark-plug commentary box used to be
00:15It's actually skating
00:17From about there
00:18You see the wiggle and that's where the car just picks up on the water and aqua planes
00:23and you could also see coming down the hill just left and right of the racing because you can't I mean if you had a
00:28Whole load of cars barreling. Look at that. Just completely aquaplaning. That is
00:33Sadly just too much water, but everything filters down to a couple of laps later behind a safety car
00:39Yeah, that's that that Moffat one there. Listen to the throttle
00:44That's him on full throttle trying to straighten that car up
00:46Ingram managed to hold that first position into turn one driving the background that might be Osborne off the road
00:52But certainly at high speed into the barriers goes one of the boards. It is Sam Osborne
00:56We thought he'd never be back out and he was back out later in the day. So don't write Sam Osborne off yet
01:02Was there a touch? There might well have been. Yeah, it looked like a Vauxhall behind him
01:06But yes, you're right. It was a big impact at very high speed. The good news is these are strong cars. Sam's okay
01:11Let's see if we can just spot anything that happens to Sam Osborne, the car three in front on the left
01:17there's a little touch there with De Leon, I think and
01:22Sam Osborne gets sideways and then there's a passenger
01:25He is such a fighter Rob Huff and he has so much experience
01:29There's so many cars. Oh, there's a touch there. All three of them get together
01:32Do they keep going? Huff's got his foot buried to get through the gravel. That was a shame, wasn't it?
01:38Rowbottom is at the back of the pack. It's Mikey Doble ahead
01:41Rowbottom gets on the wet, hits Doble who gets like a cue ball, fired into Huff
01:47Yeah, Rowbottom into the back of both of them and there there may be a visit to the stewards bus as a result of that
01:54There is his foot, tries to drag the car out of the corner, out of the gravel
01:58Is that Ronald Pearson? Yeah, I think it is
02:00He's gone off the road, finds a big puddle and a bigger puddle and another one and hopefully can get himself off that friction-free grass
02:07He's just about done it. There you've got Ash Sutton in seventh place and he's looking to gain ground
02:12And there's drama in the background. There's a Naffer Ford sideways
02:14There's Watson in and out of the gravel. All that momentum
02:17Helping him get up the inside. Drama in the background. Daryl De Leon off the road at high speed
02:21He's in the gravel and he might well be staying there
02:24Let's just have a look
02:29Just lost it
02:31Yeah, Ronan Pearson's problem in race one when he went off was the power steering failing and maybe he's had similar problems again
02:39Jane Hill to the inside line
02:42Finds a gap, there's contact and Ingram has to get across the gravel
02:45Huff goes with him because there was nowhere they could make the corner and as Huff comes back onto the surge
02:49Morgan though, he's falling back through the train, isn't he, as Watson again tries to squeeze up the inside and off go two of them
02:54Morgan is one and was that Ronan Pearson in the other? No, it's Jake Hill who's got involved in it. Jake's in the gravel
03:01So Morgan comes across and makes contact with Pearson
03:06And then Pearson
03:09No, it's Ronan Pearson in the gravel, wasn't it? Not Jake Hill, forgive me. Yeah. Yeah
03:15So there they are into the barriers
03:17Fortunately, it's a glancing blow
03:20So no huge damage, but it's Pearson that then ends up in the gravel
03:25I'd like to see you see that to their face from Huff, you're a softie. That's Jake Hill in the gravel
03:30Jake Hill has gone straight on and drew it
03:33Looking through the windscreen, so you can't really see the driver at work
03:37Doesn't turn. It didn't turn at all, but whether he had it, the brakes all locked up, the front's locked up completely
03:44He's feeling the steering. Wow. Wow, the steering's broken. Look at that. That's why he didn't turn. Completely broken
03:51He's telling the team. He's on the radio saying the steering's broken. Nearly half a second behind
03:56So, oh, we got a spin there. I think that's Adam Morgan. I think that's Adam Morgan. It is
04:01Yeah, we don't want to see a yellow flag for a long time, do we? So
04:05That's the other replay from the drone as he slithers off backwards
04:08And the rain is getting heavier, we understand. And this was what happened to Josh Cook
04:12So on that lap, he'd done a personal best in Sectors 1 and 2, and then it all got away from him down at the S's
04:19And not for the first time, the car was sideways, but he was struggling at the end of the lap, wasn't he?
04:26There was some contact there
04:28I'm not sure who that was. Here's the replay. This is on board with Chilton Contact
04:32That was possibly what you saw, and look, he's on the outside line
04:35And then did the car almost get ticked up? It was a second, yeah
04:39It was a second, yeah
04:40So not really in the championship hunt. Daryl Deleon's had a spin coming out of Rich's
04:44And that was Sam Osborne almost getting caught up in it in avoidance. Daryl flips the car out of harm's way, one hopes, but
04:52And this was how it all happened
04:54Got wide halfway through the corner, lost the rear
04:56Ended up spinning back onto the track and giving Sam Osborne a very anxious moment as he came around the corner
05:03There he is. Sam Osborne was wide himself
05:05Almost followed the line by being off the track. That's Ronan Pearson
05:10And he's having a drama at Corham
05:13Yeah, it's quite damp still on the, uh, look that's actually at, um, Williams. Williams, yes
05:18Once he caught out, and this is how it looked
05:20Oh, he just came in with a bit too much speed, lost the rear, got the brakes, got launched over that kerb
05:26And he's on wet, remember
05:28He's in second place on wet
05:31And there it is from another angle, but it hits the kerb, really unsettles the car, fires it out towards the boonies
05:36Ash Sutton off the road, and it was at Williams, and he's off, and he's just a passenger on the wet grass, and
05:43Kaboom! Into the wall, damages the left-hand side of the car
05:47He'll try and limp it back, but he's out of the points anyway now. Jake Hill on wet, absolutely storming around the outside
05:53He's just found room, look at him, sweeping around the outside
05:57Sam Osborne's sideways, big cloud of smoke, he's still sideways
06:01He's gone bush on over the weeds on the outside of the road
06:04Then he's Aiden Moffat, replay of Sam Osborne's big lose at the start, Jake Hill came within an ace of clobbering him
06:11Yeah, he did, he did, he did well to save it sadly, sort of planted his foot to bring the front round
06:16But it actually, all it did was drag it all the way around and off the track
06:19That probably did him a favor to get him out of harm's way
06:22That was Josh Cook's view, and there Bobby Thompson being forced out wide, now there, look, contact
06:28That was half into Deleon, and Deleon into Smiley, but it was Huffy that triggered all that
06:32Yeah, but he had a car on his left forcing him, he had the likes of Thompson and
06:38And Kamish really struggling, replay of Josh Cook having a big moment, and now behind him Aaron Taylor's smoke, Mikey Doble having an even bigger moment
06:45Mikey Doble, all cross up, will it be right? Actually lost a lot of ground there on the wet part, haven't they?
06:49Yeah, but big slide by Moffat, and it's all got crossed up, so Huff goes through, Moffat
06:56That's a lot, but his eyes are pretty wide open there, as are all the drivers right out wide
07:01Thank goodness for Andrew Watson, the grass was nice and dry there, 2 minutes 16 to go
07:07Oh, big crash, big drama, Aaron Taylor-Smith on the back part of the circuit
07:10And that was a big old hit, and he's going to try and get the car moving
07:13But he's done the rear suspension, look you can see on that left rear corner how the suspension is all broken
07:18He's got it moving, fair play, because that was a big scary moment at a scary part of the circuit
07:22But in a moment that car is liable to get away from him again, and look at that, big big lose, around it bounces
07:28And wait for the impact, bang, that's the left-hander at Noble
07:33And remember the right rear tire on these cars is the coldest tire, I know it's a warm day
07:38But he's grabbing that car back to the pits, now
07:41Let's try and work out if we can what went on to trigger a safety car on that opening lap, because the leaders went through okay
07:48Ah, that was what happened, it was the furniture being pushed into the road
07:52How absolutely ridiculous to put a pile of tires in, basically in front of the drivers
07:59And it was Andrew Watson that hit it with the tire stack in the middle
08:02Ash Sutton got a bit too much wheelspin, oh no, it's been a turn
08:06I think that's Camish
08:08It's Rowbottom, isn't it? Who's in the tires, Dan Rowbottom
08:10Who always seems to be the one to get the bad luck, they were both slow out through Aaron Taylor-Smith
08:15Ash Sutton, he's doing absolute best in sectors and a big, big lose there
08:19That is Aidan Moffat off the racetrack at very high speed and around and around and around he goes
08:24Goes to the inside, I think he gets past and as he moves back to take the line
08:29He just moves across the front of Chilton, he gets tagged on the back
08:33And that speed, that tiniest touch is enough to spin you off
08:37But I think he wasn't clear to move over
08:40And this is the opening lap, now look, that's Rob Huff getting turned sideways in the pack
08:43But further up the road, there, it was Turkington, I think, that tagged Rowbottom
08:48Dan sort of came across the front and the angle was just enough to turn him across the front
08:52For the first time I'm asking, good getaway by Aaron Taylor-Smith
08:55Look, squeezing up the inside, contact with Morgan, he gets crossed up
08:58Cook got round the outside and there's mayhem breaking out
09:00Huff goes off the road, the casualty is Adam Morgan who's facing the wrong way
09:05A lot of bunching going on towards the front on the inside, will he go to the outside?
09:10Oh, that was the cat, they all ran into each other
09:13He was completely unsighted, so had a little tap into the back of Smiley
09:17Not much in him, Rob Huff is the Toyota to your left in front, now watch it all kick off
09:25Well, he actually got a good run through there, didn't he?
09:29But then he got put on the graph
09:31Yeah, he's got Josh Cook on the outside
09:33Oh, but it was actually, it was Chilton, was it?
09:37Who was bunched up in the middle and just couldn't avoid the back of Morgan's car
09:41But they were three at best into the corner
09:45But Josh Cook round the outside and then look there's that enormous gap that opens up
09:49As everybody has to avoid the incident
09:50Yeah, absolutely, it did well to avoid it
09:52But that worked out perfectly for Josh Cook, it gives a last minute lunge
09:56But Sutton ran a little bit deep into the corner
09:59Enabling Smiley to get on the power earlier
10:03But Sutton pushed him a little wide there, that was a bit rough and ready
10:07And a spin for Colin Turkington, gosh, you don't see that very often
10:11So whether there was contact that did that or trial did use, but Colin Turkington falls back
10:15And a replay here of
10:18Sam Osborne, yes
10:20Very nearly getting towards the Napa Racing hospitality unit on the outside of Sunny
10:24And here look on board with Sutton
10:26That's round the outside, Rob Huff and a BMW of Turkington in real stride
10:29Turkington's got drama, Huff is up into second place
10:32Turkington go to the complex, look back for the BMW
10:34Yeah, he's got a hit
10:35Yeah, that was Sutton, Sutton into the back of Turkington
10:38At the same time, both watching his mirrors and looking at Turkington
10:43Sutton goes for the move, but Turkington covers it off
10:46And Sutton can't get off the brakes quickly enough
10:48And just taps the back of the BMW
10:50Have a look at Ash Sutton, just slips the back of the BMW
10:54Fires that across the grass
10:56And Turkington goes out wide, but able to regroup
10:59But he can't find a way through
11:00And Adam Morgan is next up, he's another on the softs
11:02Here goes Chilton, Biff's hill sideways
11:05And off goes Jake Hill, heads towards the tyres
11:08Makes contact, he will rejoin
11:09But he is going to be seething about that
11:12This is how it all happened, he turns through the corner
11:15Just lost it
11:15No, I think that tyre went, I think that tyre went
11:18Which is why he spun round
11:20It's the guy on the inside, which is Sutton
11:22Rob Huff was off the road and back on again
11:24But he comes back on the inside, hits Sutton, gets him sideways
11:27And Rob self-censors, does he?
11:28He doesn't get up the inside, he lets Ash recover
11:31Slots back in behind, look, it's good enough
11:33Or is it? He's going right round the outside
11:36They're both off the circuit
11:38Turkington's trying to close the door
11:39There's contact, high speed
11:41Turkington's off, he's going to hit the wall
11:43He is indeed, Turkington into the barriers
11:45And that is a damaged BMW
11:47And that could well be Turkington, should be Turkington out of the race
11:50Turkington was on the hybrid
11:52He tries to close the apex there
11:55But as soon as he's off the grass
11:56He knows he's only going to end up in one place
11:59It's the back of the replay of the moment between Ingram and Turkington
12:03Ingram tried to force his way on the inside
12:05And bang, into the barrier goes the BMW
12:07Well, Colin was trying to...
12:08You can't see from that angle who was on the track and who was off
12:11This answers the contact
12:13It may well have come from his teammate, Miklas Doval
12:16And Taylor Smith getting stuck together
12:17Then Daryl De Leon is next up
12:20And the Vauxhalls entangle themselves
12:23Well, that's not going to go down very well with
12:26Adam Weaver and the PowerMax team, is it?
12:28If you haven't done a good lap, you're going to be in strife
12:30Replay of Daryl De Leon's moment
12:32Sideways up the kerb, way onto two wheels
12:35Through the gravel
12:37That was Daryl De Leon going through
12:38And I think this is his two-wheeling moment, isn't it?
12:40Way up on the kerb and crash-landing into the gravel
12:43But fair play to him, he came back
12:45Time disallowed for track limits
12:46So he's still in the sixth, but he's down to fourth
12:48This is De Leon in replay
12:52No, he did well to hold it
12:53Through on the right, on the left
12:55No, he just got wide, got into the gravel
12:57Lost the rear and then spent the next 200 yards
13:00Collecting it up, which he does very well
13:05Demolishes the Adverts, gets back onto the circuit
13:09Here, a replay of Andrew Watson coming through
13:13And there, Tom Ingram on the outside of Chris Smiley
13:17Then De Leon, the order is again, Osborne
13:18He's all sideways coming through Duffer's dip
13:22And De Leon sees that, seizes the opportunity
13:25Runs out wide, pushes Sam Osborne off
13:28And here you go again, Tim
13:29This is the replay
13:30Yeah, just a little tiny tappers are turning in
13:34Round, he saves the car
13:36But in doing so, has to run wide
13:40And then Ronan Pearson lets him have the place
13:43And this is coming out of the chicane
13:45He's wide and it just snaps away
13:47Yeah, just puts a wheel in towards the gravel
13:50And around it goes
13:52Coming down towards McIntyre
13:54All sideways again, and he wallops the kerb
13:58That rattles his fillings
13:59Well, that's Scandinavian rally style
14:01This is Camish behind Cook
14:03Oh, and he lost the rear
14:06Big acceleration to bring the front round
14:09Well, a great save
14:10So that is the cork out of the bottle
14:12And there's more leg braking
14:13Coming down to the hairpin and around the outside there
14:15That was Josh Cook
14:17Three wide into the hairpin, didn't work
14:19So Adam Morgan's going to benefit from all of that
14:21Up into fourth place, Aidan Moffat
14:23Fifth, Sutton, sixth
14:24There she is, Morgan
14:25Because he's got Cook alongside him
14:26And Cook goes off after contact
14:28All the way across the grass
14:29Can Josh save it?
14:31Yes, he can
14:32Cars scatter behind him
14:33The BMWs get together
14:34Then Hill gets into Cook and turns him sideways
14:37And off the road goes Cook through the tyre stack
14:39That's kicking off all right
14:41And Josh Cook in the gravel
14:42But he's still moving
14:43So side by side
14:45Both cars, Cook and Moffat
14:47Are literally on the limit, bouncing around
14:50There's that contact
14:51Then he actually comes back on
14:53At least facing the right way
14:54But then the three BMWs trying to squeeze through
14:57Contact between Hill and Cook
14:59And that's when the...
15:00See the right rear is broken there
15:03Josh, because it's front-wheel drive
15:04Was able to keep it rolling
15:06And this is the field coming through Clarks
15:09And Nick Halstead gets involved with Andrew Watson
15:12And off he goes
15:14Yeah, just got turned around the front of him
15:15This is Jake Hills for you
15:16And the Astros almost getting themselves together there
15:19Oh no!
15:20Dobles slid into the side of Ingram
15:22And turned him around
15:23Disaster for Ingram
15:25Ben from his teammate Aaron Taylor-Smith
15:27Brakes too late
15:28May have possibly got a little touch
15:30But into the side of Ingram he clatters
15:33Fortunately hits him at mid-shifts
15:35And not in the tyre
15:36A major delay for Ingram
15:38Here it comes
15:39Bang into the side
15:41A bit of throttle to pull the front round
15:46Let's see
15:46Cook he's got in there
15:47Got into a slide
15:48Had to hold it
15:50Shoots across the road
15:51And through goes Sutton
15:53So Andrew Watson across the gravel
15:58I mean he's been hit already hasn't he?
16:00But we've had cars going either side of the tyre stack there
16:03So there's a hole
16:04But I thought that was behind Rowbottom
16:05It looks like there might have been two separate incidents
16:08Let's have another look
16:10Oh, he gets it all sideways
16:12And hits the tyre stack
16:13Launches the car up onto two wheels
16:16You've talked before about putting obstacles in the way
16:18There's more evidence of why they're not great
16:20Helped a little maybe by the safety car
16:22Has been on pace
16:22Alone and Cook gets it all sideways
16:24And hits the tyres
16:25Delays him
16:25He'll go through for third
16:27Now let's look further back in the pack
16:29So Cook and Morgan get together
16:31Cook goes wide
16:32Morgan hits Cook
16:33Cook hits Camish
16:34Yeah, well spotted
16:35Yeah, into the Melbourne hairpin
16:38Good thing for him
16:39Oh, a spinner there
16:40That's Morgan
16:41Adam Morgan's been spun round
16:43It's Turkington
16:44Colin Turkington facing the wrong way
16:47This is Tom Ingram's view
16:50Well, it wasn't Watson, was it?
16:52It must have been Huff
16:53It must have been Rob Huff
16:53Yeah, absolutely
16:54Have a look at the second of the grey and yellow
16:56Toyota's three-wide look
16:58And he's on the outside
17:00And he brakes
17:00And there's contact
17:04Yeah, he was on the outside
17:05Tried to turn in with cars on the inside
17:08Just couldn't make it
17:09I think that was Andrew Watson, wasn't it?
17:10That made contact with him
17:12Sam Osborne is there or thereabouts
17:14But he was behind them both
17:15It was Watson that was on the inside
17:16So it's another of the Toyotas that's done that
17:19And Aidan Moffat, who's had a pretty tough day at the office
17:21Still in strife
17:22And now Josh Cook gets a tag from Adam Morgan
17:24And that dislodges the other Toyota
17:26Here we come into Beckett's
17:29Road bottom just locks up
17:30Spears into the back of Cook
17:32Who does well to save the spin
17:34But has to...
17:37Out wide
17:38Gets on the apron
17:41And then onto the grass
17:43Lucky not to hit the wall
17:45There we saw a Porsche hit the wall
17:46And now the spray becomes a real factor
17:49Oh, Kamish has locked...
17:51He's just locked up
17:52Gone straight down the inside
17:54That was an amazing first corner
17:56Those tram lines are being filled in almost instantly
17:58It's horrible
17:59The cars are aquaplaning
18:01Look, Smiley's gone straight off
18:02Turkington was aquaplaning coming out of Cots
18:06We're not far, I'm afraid, off a safety car
18:09You watch here
18:09The car is snaking already on the water
18:12It just can't...
18:13In fact, Morgan in front of him was also snaking, wasn't he?
18:18But once the car gets lifted up
18:20There's Morgan going past now
18:22And also...
18:25That's Osborne gone through
18:27So watch there
18:29No way he can stop the car
18:31No way he can stop the car
18:32Can't even steer the car
18:34And he wasn't the only one getting it wrong
18:37Because Scott Sumpton has a big, big spin at Cots
18:39And again, you can see as he sort of washes through the standing water
18:42Just how much has fallen
18:44This is Aaron Taylor-Smith's view
18:45He's nice
18:46I say view, you know what I mean
18:47Can't see much, can you?
18:48But he was nice going down towards Cots
18:50Getting a bit swamped by the traffic
18:52Daryl Deleon is on the left
18:54And all of a sudden just slews across the front of Aaron Taylor-Smith
18:58Scaring
18:59But because Ingram is 11 points behind
19:02And there's contact there between Zelos and Huff
19:05Huff saves it and carries on
19:07He's not going to get there
19:09Ingram's got enough pace
19:11Oh, he did hit him!
19:12Big, big whack
19:13Ingram survives it
19:14Ash Sutton's going to have a look on the inside
19:16But it's going to be Tom Ingram for the race win after the contact
19:19He hopes his car's going to hook up
19:21It doesn't
19:24He's driving into the gap
19:25But Ingram is coming in from his wider line
19:28And they make contact
19:30Fortunately, he didn't spin out
19:33It looks worse from that angle, I must say
19:35But this is the...
19:37Oh, that was Ingram wide as well, wasn't it?
19:41We all want to have that, yeah
19:42Yeah, there must have been some dirt on the track, I think
19:44Going into the circuit
19:45Yeah, though, because there's still a lap time left in it
19:48And this was that robot of his car suddenly snapped away
19:51It did snap very suddenly
19:52That's what he said was talking about
19:54That he never actually touched the barrier miraculously
19:58Turkington is away in the race lead
20:00And Josh Cook gets all sideways at the inside
20:02Ingram gets involved with Sutton
20:03Sutton's in the gravel
20:04Ingram is delayed
20:05Cook gets collected by Morgan
20:07There's mayhem up at Druids
20:08And Ingram is the first casualty in terms of the championship battle
20:12He was in the wrong place at the wrong time
20:14Cook's trying to follow Sutton through on Ingram
20:16For some reason, he loses it there
20:18Just brakes too late
20:19Locks the rear
20:20Collects Sutton
20:21Collects Ingram
20:22Pushes him wide
20:24Ingram just manages to keep going and avoid the gravel
20:27Morgan gets involved
20:30As does Huff
20:32And I think possibly one of the other Nappa cars as well
20:36He's going up the hill
20:37He's covered the inside
20:38What he doesn't figure is the incoming Josh Cook there
20:41Just clatters into him
20:43Pushes him just behind Tom Ingram
20:45Maybe on the exit of Druids
20:48Because, wow, there's...
20:49He just braked too late, did Josh Cook
20:51Just purely too late
20:53I bet at this point...
20:54Now, watch to your right
20:56I mean, Ingram was going around the outside
20:58Unfortunately, he had a little bit of an overlap, didn't he?
21:00If he hadn't had that overlap
21:02Cook would have wiped Sutton across the front of it
21:05Now, what may have happened is that...
21:07Ingram made a small mistake somewhere
21:09As...
21:10And that's a larger mistake
21:11Dan Zelos
21:13From Dan Zelos
21:13But he's going to get back on
21:15And...
21:16How did he get there?
21:19Oh, that tyre went before he went off
21:21It went halfway to the bottom of the hill
21:24On that maximum compression
21:26Turkington is under attack as well
21:27Up to Druids
21:28And on the inside line
21:29Looks Aaron Taylor-Smith
21:30He gets into the side of Turkington
21:32That forces Turkington wide
21:33Ingram is going to come out of the corner
21:35Ahead of both BMWs now
21:36Because Turkington drops behind Hill
21:38And he can't be any help from there
