Playmates Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Ironic Punishment Environment
Transcript
00:00I don't understand it. James Coco went mad in 15 minutes.
00:04Here's your spooky spot on the Playmates' The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Ironic Punishment Interactive Environment.
00:30Welcome to Springfield, USA, home of The Simpsons.
00:49Whether freezing your brain with an ice-cold chutney squishy at the Quickie Marts, choking down imitation fruit beverages at Springfield Elementary,
00:55or drowning your sorrows at Moe's, you can't help but drink in the radioactive charm that is Springfield alone.
01:01Yes, a visit to Springfield brings a glow to the heart that never ever goes away.
01:06Let's put my sewing project on the back burner just so I can continue these looks at The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror sets,
01:11courtesy of the folks over at Playmates Toys.
01:13When he's done, though, you guys got to check out my pigeon rat, though. He's looking nice.
01:18Each one of these figures, as you can see, are going to be having different heights to them.
01:21I suppose I probably could if I had the time. You know what? We'll make the time.
01:24Let's measure first Donut Homer. Now, he's going to stand not quite the tallest,
01:28but still manage to pull off almost five and three quarters of an inch in height, or going to be about 14 and a half centimeters tall,
01:34which Marge clearly is the tallest, including, of course, her hair.
01:37She's six and a quarter inches, and that translates to 16 centimeters tall.
01:42Hugo Bartz, the evil twin, or was he the evil twin?
01:48Stands at three inches in height, or eight centimeters tall.
01:52And then finally, though, to Nightmare Willie, or Evil Willie if you prefer, or you can call him Freddy Willie.
01:57Still isn't going to change his height at all.
01:59He's only going to still be about four inches in height, or about 11 centimeters tall.
02:04Already a minute eaten into this review, and what do we really have to show for ourselves?
02:07Just measuring of figures?
02:09We're going to have to delay, as well, the inevitable, because we're going to bring in some other characters we've looked at already
02:13from the interactive worlds of Springfield.
02:15Now, once it's all said and done, we finally have a look at the collector's set.
02:18Bart and Homer are, first of all, the only characters that are going to get more than one iteration of them,
02:22and they're also going to be tied by three.
02:24Homer's, though, leading it right now three to two.
02:26Homer's already gotten himself, of course, Homer Kong.
02:28That was part of the Cemetery set.
02:30And he got a regular Homer that was part of the Spaceship set with Kang and Kodos.
02:34Homer Kong and Donut Homer are about the same size,
02:36if you include, of course, the fact that Homer's now got himself a donut head.
02:39I'm so yummy!
02:41From a body standpoint, though, the Donut Homer and the regular Homer have very similar style of bodies,
02:46very similar type of hand, at least on this side.
02:49But you can see, though, with the shoes, the pants, and even the skin color,
02:52they're a lot lighter on Donut Homer's.
02:54Now, of course, with Bart, Bart did also get himself a Bart Fly.
02:57Bart the Fly was part of the Cemetery set, as well.
03:00When we eventually look, though, at the collector's set, that Bart will also be part of that.
03:04So, again, three for three.
03:06As we did with earlier reviews, as well, I'm going to bring in both the Bart and the Homer
03:09from the Jax Pacific releases of Simpsons so you guys can see.
03:12It may not be the case that you're going to have these guys displayed with the interactive worlds of Springfield.
03:17They're obviously not going to trigger any audio clips.
03:19You can see that they're a very similar style of size.
03:22They can use, as well, the ones we got from Playmates until we get ones released by Jax.
03:26Ah, yes, very good. I see we're being joined by the Paranormal Candle again.
03:30Any words of wisdom for us today, Candle?
03:33No, come on. You must have something.
03:35What? You're quiet?
03:37This thing hasn't stopped talking to me.
03:40I'm convinced, first of all, that the merchant never even sold me a doorway to the afterlife,
03:43but rather this object that would just utter nonsensical, random words on a whisper.
03:48Be literally watching TV and this candle sitting next to me,
03:51which I can already say was probably a bad idea.
03:53Watching TV, this thing just utters the word, ketchup.
03:56Of course, mute the TV. I look over.
03:58What? Ketchup?
04:01You okay? You hungry?
04:03Nothing.
04:04I go back to what I was watching.
04:06Cutlery.
04:07So either this thing's trying to tell me that it's hungry, or, again, it's just a useless candle.
04:12And I'm saying that right now. Useless candle.
04:15Anyways, maybe perhaps the mention of cutlery has something to do with the fact that
04:19maybe Evil Willy comes in clue with a rake that looks like just a giant fork.
04:22Maybe he's foretelling the future.
04:24Maybe he foretells something that's not food-related, Candle,
04:27and maybe I'll listen to you a little bit more.
04:29For the accessories, though, that come in clue with the characters,
04:32each one of them, for some extent, does come in clue with something.
04:35Hugo, to be fair, doesn't come in clue with the pail of hot dog meat.
04:38That hot dog meat really does belong on the end of the conveyor belt,
04:41but I suppose it is, considering we don't have ourselves a bucket of fish heads.
04:45It's a serviceable stand-in for what I would imagine Homer and Marge are feeding Hugo up in the attic.
04:50You can see there's a hand.
04:51It's weird that if playmates had had this meeting,
04:54everybody's sitting around the boardroom table,
04:56they're kind of thinking of ideas.
04:57Okay, well, what can we include with all of these characters?
04:59And somebody says, well, for Hugo, what if we included a bucket of fish heads?
05:04Of course, everybody's, like, looking around at one another.
05:06Then candles.
05:07Apparently, even though an executive candle was sitting with them at the time,
05:10was saying, ridiculous.
05:12Everybody was thinking, you can't include a bucket of fish heads.
05:14This is being sold to children.
05:16And yet, apparently, though, a pail of hot dog meat is acceptable.
05:20Look at that.
05:21Hands and whatever else and trails are in there.
05:23But that's actually going to be the thing that goes on the end of the conveyor belt.
05:26I guess we'll put it over there in a second.
05:27Now, Homer comes in clue with the donut.
05:29Marge, of course, comes in clue with her broom.
05:31She's a witch, after all.
05:32Hugo does nothing.
05:33He doesn't squat, other than just a shackle on the end of his leg.
05:36And then, of course, Willie does come in clue with the fedora and the rake.
05:39Back in that a bit, the first thing we'll have a look at is that Homer comes in clue with the donut.
05:44Now, I can say right away, I'm really disappointed that the donut is colored the way that it is.
05:48It should have been pink.
05:49It should have had sprinkles on it.
05:50And the biggest thing about coloring it the way that they did is that the moment you put it into Homer's hand,
05:54which is the – this is the only hand, by the way.
05:57The moment you put it into his hand, for a second, you have to stop and look at it.
06:00Where did the donut go?
06:02Is it camouflaged?
06:03No, no, it's just on the end of his hand.
06:05Why would they have molded it in the exact same – well, I already know the answer to that.
06:08But why would they have molded this the same color as his arm,
06:11considering that that's the thing that has to hold the donut?
06:14The other thing, unfortunately, though, is that having the donut so close to Homer's face,
06:18he never actually eats the donut.
06:19It looks like he's just sniffing it.
06:23At least it does come in clue with an accessory.
06:25I'm a little, again, disappointed the fact that it had not – it didn't have to be yellow.
06:29It should have been pink instead.
06:31Bringing in the original Homer that we had looked at earlier,
06:33the bodies aren't quite the same.
06:35I would imagine the shirts are probably the same in the pants,
06:37and they just would have tooled a new tie piece on top.
06:40You can also see, as well, this guy's got a pocket.
06:42The original Homer doesn't.
06:43There's a lot more mass and weight to this one for obvious reasons.
06:46The fact he's now been turned into a donut.
06:48And the reasoning, the culprit behind all that is, of course, Devil Flanders.
06:52Devil Flanders, Homer thinks he's beaten him at the end of his court case,
06:55and then, of course, Flanders gets the last laugh and turns Homer's head into a big giant donut.
06:59Marge expresses concern that perhaps Homer shouldn't be eating the side of his face.
07:03I'm so yummy!
07:05But he just keeps continuing to pull off pieces and mow down on them.
07:08The head sculpt is heavier because there's a lot more plastic here.
07:11There's still faint traces there of what would have been originally Homer's face.
07:15He still has the shadow of stubble there.
07:17Larger eyes, of course, they're more separated apart from one another.
07:20I'm sure somebody was going to have a joke about that.
07:22Yeah?
07:23No? Okay, go ahead. You can put it down there.
07:25Okay, okay, okay.
07:27Yeah, so the head is going to make this figure a lot more heavier,
07:30but, like, the build of his body is going to be very similar.
07:32Similar legs.
07:34Obviously, we've already mentioned the fact that his footwear is a different color.
07:37His pants are a notable different blue.
07:40And even, like, the color of his shirt, it doesn't seem as bright as the one we got here from Kang and Kodos.
07:45The articulation, though, is going to be exactly the same,
07:47so the head's going to still rotate back and forth,
07:49the arms back and forth this way.
07:51You can rotate the waist.
07:52No foot articulation because, again, like, that's the inner circuitry.
07:55That's the thing that gets the job done for audio.
07:57And even then, you're going to have a struggle trying to get this all attached.
08:00You'll see what I mean.
08:02How many jokes, by the way, down below in the comments.
08:05On to Marge.
08:06Now, Marge does come included, of course, with her broom.
08:08She comes from the, what is it, Easy Bake Coven?
08:11Of course, her and her sisters.
08:12We don't get the sister this time around.
08:14And this is the only Marge that we actually get from the Treehouse for environmental sets.
08:18We obviously have gotten Marges before from Playmates Toys,
08:21but this is the one that's closest attached to Halloween.
08:24Because of that, her skin is now green instead of yellow.
08:26Got little eyelashes there on the top.
08:27I just can only picture the sound coming out of her mouth.
08:30Ah!
08:31Interesting, though, to note is that her hair looks like a pine cone.
08:35Texture-wise, although pine cones don't tend to be black like this,
08:39but it's a very interestingly sculpted head.
08:42Now, if you want to get the broom in her hand, you basically just want to line it.
08:45I mean, you don't have to have the broom in her hand,
08:48but if not for that, it just kind of looks like she's holding back a cough or sneeze.
08:51Bless you.
08:52Go ahead and take the broom.
08:53The broom, by the way, is a very soft plastic.
08:55That's the same as well when you look at Willie's rake.
08:57Stop that.
08:58The top of the broom, as you can see, they painted that in a different color.
09:01Kind of a beige.
09:02A little bit of a bleed down below there, but, I mean, I can admit that.
09:06I mean, that's not a big deal.
09:07And, of course, if you want to get the broom in her hand,
09:09you can either try your best to get them in both her hands.
09:12For that, you kind of have to overlap the hands from one another.
09:14And then just...
09:15Let's just try to do this.
09:17Come on. Come on.
09:18Feed the broom to the top, and then once you get it all the way through,
09:21try to do it on the other side.
09:23It's going to be a lesson in patience.
09:26You might even find it's an easier time to actually just clip her hands on both sides
09:30instead of trying to fight it the other way.
09:32The only thing about it, though, is that the broom's going to cover the front of her face.
09:35So you may even want to have it further down.
09:37You may even want to choose instead to flip this the other way around,
09:40where it could be suggested that she's cleaning a floor.
09:42It could also be suggested the fact that she's going to be flying away and stealing children.
09:46I would rather myself just to have the broom attached into one hand.
09:50Oh, there goes the broom.
09:52I knew this candle.
09:53I probably shouldn't have said this is a useless candle.
09:55It's just going to now be jinxing me.
09:56Even if it doesn't attach to the doorway to the afterlife,
09:58even if it just puts a hex on me,
10:00that's still problems I don't need this Halloween.
10:02Anyways, there's Marge.
10:04Again, she's got the broom in her hand.
10:05You can either have it this way.
10:06You can have it down that way.
10:07It doesn't really matter.
10:08What matters, though, is that she does also have a soft plastic cape.
10:11It's a softer plastic.
10:13One thing I was also kind of wondering is if it was going to leave a stain behind
10:17because it was so close, obviously, to her black dress.
10:20It doesn't seem like it has.
10:22Usually, when I open these things up,
10:25I mean, for the last two times that I've done this,
10:27I sort of have played around with the play sets
10:29just to kind of get a refresher course of how everything plugs into place
10:31and whatever frustrations I have along with that as well.
10:36This is the first time, in fact, I've actually opened this set.
10:38I didn't review it the last times that I was looking at these,
10:41and actually, I hadn't even put it out last year
10:44because I bought this set again after I put everything out for Halloween.
10:47It was only really the other three sets that I had out.
10:50This one here, Ironic Punishment, I bought after October.
10:53Does anybody really care? Nobody really cares.
10:55Probably what you do care about, though,
10:57is the fact that Marge's head for articulation rotates all the way around.
11:00You can move, of course, her arms back and forth.
11:02There is no articulation down below here, just below the dress,
11:05and again, there's the chip that's going to connect onto.
11:07Well, you only get three of these connecting points.
11:10You don't get four, so like with the cases before,
11:12always there is the odd person out.
11:14Usually, I end up leaving...
11:15Well, when I've had this set in the earlier years,
11:18I usually end up leaving Willie out. Stop that.
11:21I leave Willie out, and then I usually just attach the other two
11:23onto their connecting pegs.
11:26As for Hugo, Hugo here, as you can see...
11:29You know what? Let's bring back in...
11:31Let's bring back in Bart the Fly.
11:33Couldn't help but notice that Bart the Fly is eating better.
11:36He's got a little more of a fuller belly.
11:38It doesn't look like they've also used any of the same component pieces.
11:41I thought for a second that they may have used the same hands,
11:43but you can see, like, Bart the Fly has a bigger grip than Hugo.
11:46Different hands on the other side.
11:48Lighter skin also, as well,
11:49overlooking, obviously, that this guy has the fly head.
11:51He also has now torn both shirt and pants.
11:54Of course, he's living up in the attic, after all.
11:56But the articulation is going to be the exact same.
11:58Now, for the head, it's going to rotate back and forth.
12:01The arms, again, rotate.
12:02And again, you've got your waist swivel.
12:04This guy also does have the shackle.
12:05A good way to chain him down,
12:06so he's not going to be going anywhere or telling anybody,
12:08hey, I'm up in the attic, and they're feeding me fish heads.
12:11Even though this guy doesn't come included with fish heads.
12:13The last figure that we'll have a look at happens to be Willy.
12:16I would say probably Willy and Donut Homer are my favorites from this set.
12:19Willy comes, of course, included with the rake.
12:21That's just as rubbery as Marge's broom.
12:23Also comes included with the fedora.
12:25Now, the rake works the same way as the broom.
12:27So you're going to have a hole on one side.
12:29Just feed the journey all the way to the other end.
12:31So you're going to take the rake.
12:33Now, you're going to have this happen.
12:36There's no real way around this that the rake is always going to get bent.
12:39Just because, again, like, it can't be completely straight.
12:42Or I guess once you kind of feed everything through,
12:44you can kind of just adjust the arms accordingly.
12:46Now you've got the rake in his hand.
12:48To finish the look, though, of evil Freddy, evil Willy,
12:51when you get his fedora, getting this out of the packaging,
12:54you're looking at it like this, and you would think for a second,
12:56okay, well, that's going to go over top of his hair.
12:58No, actually, you flip it around,
13:00and that's going to attach over top of his eyebrows.
13:02The eyebrows are really the thing that kind of keeps everything in place.
13:05And you also, when you are putting the hat down,
13:07you kind of want to put it down on a bit of an angle.
13:09So it gives him that really cool Freddy look that he has in that episode.
13:13Very neat.
13:15I like the head sculpt on this guy.
13:17I feel, admittingly, he's a little on the lighter side, skin color-wise.
13:20I mean, really, like, all the characters that have at least yellow for their skin.
13:23Sorry, Marge, going to have to leave you out of that.
13:25They all seem to have pretty light yellows.
13:27The beard, though, on his face, nicely done.
13:29Now, we did get, actually, one from Super 7,
13:31but not in the Ultimate release.
13:33We did get a reaction version of evil Willy Freddy.
13:36So, you know, if you guys want to get a version from Super 7,
13:38you'd have to get the smaller one that has five points of articulation.
13:41This guy, actually, isn't that really far different.
13:44I mean, for his posability, his head only really rotates back and forth,
13:47his arms back and forth.
13:49I mean, obviously, attaching by a cape or a rake,
13:51so the arms are going to move collectively together.
13:53And, of course, there's that waist swivel.
13:55So, really, the reaction figures,
13:57as much, you know, as much criticisms as they may get,
14:00they actually had these ones beat by one additional posability point,
14:03because these guys only have four.
14:05So, those are all your figures.
14:07And we can move, kind of, everything out of the way.
14:09We'll look at the ironic punishment set here.
14:12Now, McFarland Toys did release an ironic punishment set
14:15that had the Homer at the very end of it.
14:17So, he's being then fed the donuts.
14:19But that was, kind of, more like a statue.
14:21It didn't have, obviously, any audio clips.
14:23I'd like to get my hands on those, but...
14:25Yeah, it's going for crazy money.
14:27The actual set itself did require some assembly.
14:30Luckily, the conveyor belt isn't one thing that has to be attached.
14:32But you have to take the cog wheels.
14:34The cog wheels come out of the package,
14:36as you probably already saw earlier, as a separate piece.
14:38There's these pegs that stick out quite large,
14:41and you just plug the cog in this way.
14:43So, you have the larger wheel closer to the conveyor,
14:45and the smaller wheel is, sort of, off to the corner.
14:47These stalagmites, softer and plastic, also have to be attached.
14:51Those just plug onto the pegs right here.
14:53You get a set of four on one side.
14:56And then you get a set of two, then, on the other side.
14:58And they're, again, rubbery plastic.
15:00And then, of course, the last thing is,
15:02this whole back section has to go on.
15:04This is just attached by two pegs,
15:06and then two, like, longer strips of rectangular plastic.
15:10And those fit into, of course, those holes,
15:12and the little slots provided there.
15:14One problem, though, while, you know,
15:16aesthetically, it's a nice-looking...
15:18It's one of the cooler-looking environmental sets.
15:21I don't know if I would say I like this as much as the Kang and Kodos.
15:24Kang, Kodos, and the Cemetery sets.
15:26The Cemetery set is, by far, my favorite.
15:28But I like that there's a lot going on on this.
15:30The problem with that, though, is,
15:32because you've got the conveyor in the front,
15:34and you've got, like, the backdrop in the back,
15:36there's only this much space that you have to fit your characters,
15:38because one goes here, one goes here, and one goes here.
15:40It's hard to, kind of, line everything up,
15:42because you're having to, kind of, look over top
15:44to see what's going on behind the conveyors.
15:46One thing I did also want to show you guys, as well,
15:48is that the battery compartment has remained untouched.
15:51Taking that as the packaging,
15:53I was surprised that the batteries still worked.
15:55So I thought, you know what, there's no sense in changing the batteries.
15:57If the batteries still work, just leave them be as they are.
16:00When, eventually, this does go back in the packaging at the end of October,
16:03we take, of course, the batteries out that are in there,
16:05screw in this tight, and they'll be going back in the box without the batteries.
16:08Sans les batteries.
16:10There's the speaker compartment right there.
16:14And then, off to the side here, you also have yourself the switches.
16:17Now, the switch, this is one thing I didn't really talk too much about in the other reviews.
16:21I didn't want to spend some time talking about this now,
16:23because in case anybody had looked at those other two videos and said,
16:25well, wait a minute, wait a minute.
16:27You don't always have to have the characters attached onto the pegs
16:30in order to get the audio to work.
16:32That is right.
16:34If you look at this, actually, there's off.
16:36For obvious reasons, off is going to give you a squat.
16:38But then there's display.
16:40Now, display requires characters to be attached onto these.
16:43If you don't, what you'll do is you'll...
16:46Same thing with the spaceship set and also the cemetery set.
16:49Cemetery had the obnoxious crow.
16:51The spaceship environmental set had that weird alarm sound.
16:55What you get here instead is,
16:57with no one attached onto this in display mode,
17:02it sounds like somebody being tortured.
17:04It also sounds like somebody vomiting.
17:10So that only works, really, if you have the characters attached onto these.
17:13If you did want to cheat, though,
17:15and I've done this with Kang and Kodos.
17:17I might just do this with also this set as well.
17:19You can also cheat by switching this over to demo.
17:22Now, the benefit of the demo is that you don't have to attach
17:25any of the characters in their proper places.
17:27Even if, for example, you wanted to attach Hugo on here,
17:30but you didn't want to attach him onto these,
17:32you can leave them off altogether,
17:34and you can still press the buttons,
17:36and it'll cycle through not only Hugo's audio,
17:38but it'll cycle through any of the characters that make up this.
17:41So it'll do Willie's audio.
17:43It'll do also Marge's. It'll do Donna Homer's and Hugo's.
17:46And that only requires just pressing any of the buttons.
18:04So at least they did put in sort of one fail-safe.
18:07I mean, obviously, that's not the main reason
18:09why they put the demo like that,
18:11is because obviously when you get the characters in the packaging,
18:13all of them are sealed separately.
18:15They're not obviously going to be attaching onto the base.
18:17They want to be able to make this
18:19so that any kid going into a store
18:21would be able to press the button and not have any of these attached,
18:23and still be able to hear the audio clips,
18:25and then they could badger their parents,
18:27buy this for me, buy this for me, buy this for me,
18:29or I'm going to hate you for the rest of the day.
18:31So that's what I'm going to probably do, though,
18:33for the Kang and Kodos,
18:35is because of the frustration I had
18:37trying to attach them onto these peg places,
18:39I just always leave it to demo
18:41so that I can still get the audio clips,
18:43the benefit of that, without having to worry
18:45about them being attached properly.
18:47Anyways, to attach these characters,
18:49essentially you're still going to be having the same thing,
18:51whether you look at Hugo's bottom of his feet,
18:53although his probably will be a little bit dirtier,
18:55or you're going to be looking at any of the other characters.
18:57So what you get is these little slots on either side,
18:59and then you get this grill.
19:01Now the way that this works,
19:03to show you guys a little closer inspection,
19:05you got these little clips on either side.
19:07The clips are the things that hold this in place.
19:09They're the things that will get you the most frustration.
19:11And then when you get this little part in the middle,
19:13see how there's these three gold bearings.
19:15If you put a character in,
19:17and you put them really close to this,
19:19I don't know if you can see this or not,
19:21but it actually, I feel like it brings these up
19:23just a little bit, maybe by a magnet attachment.
19:25So I don't know if you can see this or not,
19:27but the clips are going to be the thing
19:29that holds this in place.
19:31Now that works either as a benefit or a detriment.
19:33A lot of times it's the rather.
19:35Because when you're plugging them in,
19:37three things usually happen.
19:39Either it connects correctly,
19:41and then you get the audio clip for that character.
19:43You get a different audio clip
19:45from a character that's not even on there right now.
19:47Or you get the sound effect telling you
19:49that you haven't attached it properly.
19:51The clips don't always work.
19:53And the other problem also too,
19:55is when you're putting them on these,
19:57sometimes if they get too tight,
19:59you might have a hard time trying to remove them again.
20:01You'll find a bigger, harder time
20:03when it comes to actually characters like Marge and Homer.
20:05If you're putting them on the back,
20:07because a lot of times you'll have to lift the set
20:09closer towards you,
20:11or if you're able to even lean over,
20:13which is a little harder for me to do with the camera.
20:15Marge, as you can see though,
20:17here's one I tried with Marge.
20:19Marge actually has her connecting strip
20:21this way rather than this way.
20:23If it was this way, it would be a lot easier to attach.
20:25And I probably understand the reasoning
20:27why they had to do it like this.
20:29You can see the legs are a little thicker.
20:31She's got cankles here.
20:33They're running, obviously, the circuitry
20:35or wires on the inside.
20:37That's the thing that ends up triggering the audio.
20:39If they had it like here,
20:41they would have had to have probably something above it
20:43that holds all the electronics inside.
20:45So because of that,
20:47Marge has to have sort of an awkward way
20:49of attaching her.
20:51You have to attach her onto the pegs,
20:53on the little connecting peg,
20:55which again, doesn't always work.
20:57Plug that in place,
20:59and then you sort of have to turn her head around.
21:01I have spent probably a good hour or so.
21:03I want to really kind of make sure I'm looking at these
21:05enough before we kind of get down to looking
21:07at them in the review.
21:09And even then,
21:11even with like an hour under my wing of showing you guys
21:13this, or an hour of my wing actually
21:15looking at these before I hit record,
21:17I still have a frustration.
21:19And I'm sure anybody who has picked up these sets in the past
21:21probably can share those similar frustrations as well.
21:23Now, Marge is
21:25connected in for all intents and purposes.
21:27There is a button right here
21:29that's going to be for her.
21:31The button here for the top is going to be for the conveyor.
21:33And then the button here,
21:35right here. So Marge is here.
21:37The button right here will be the thing for the back.
21:39And then the button here will be this
21:41little chip right here.
21:45So now that I've connected Marge correctly,
21:49you see what I mean?
21:51It still doesn't always work.
21:53Now, of course with this, it only accommodates
21:55three of the four figures.
21:57So it's always going to be the one odd character out.
21:59So we get Hugo in,
22:01which again is always a frustration.
22:03Frustration seems to be the word of the day
22:05when it comes to attaching these characters.
22:07If it was a case where I always had
22:09these on display, it probably wouldn't even matter.
22:11I would just put them on the display bases
22:13or on these connectors, and then I would just
22:15leave them always attached the way that I have them.
22:17But because I always end up taking these
22:19and disassembling these at the end of the season
22:21and putting them back in the boxes,
22:23every year that I go back to open
22:25these again, I'm always reminded,
22:27oh right, I really hate putting these characters on them.
22:29Speaking of the other characters though,
22:31let's bring in the other environmental sets
22:33that we've already had a look at.
22:35We're going to just move the candle out of the way
22:37for right now. I'm so sorry, candle.
22:39And also to take a little hot dog meat container.
22:41We'll put that right there.
22:43Kang and Kodos was part of the spaceship set.
22:45You can see that I don't have the aliens
22:47completely attached.
22:49Just move that to the back.
22:51And we also got ourselves as well the cemetery set.
22:53Which for me, I don't know
22:55if it's just more attached to nostalgia.
22:57Let's move this back a little bit.
22:59I don't know if it's maybe just more nostalgia than anything else,
23:01but I have more of an interest, I feel,
23:03more fond love for the cemetery
23:05than I do the other two sets.
23:07Kang and Kodos is also a great set.
23:09I think all three of them are good
23:11until we get to the collectors.
23:13I don't really feel like collectors was probably the best
23:15follow-up, considering that that is the last
23:17treehouse play set that we got from Playmates.
23:19I really feel it kind of goes out on a low.
23:21It has characters I have really little to no interest in.
23:23It has Lucy Lawless,
23:25which really is the only celebrity
23:27that actually makes an appearance
23:29in these Playmates sets.
23:31For me, at least, what you're looking at right now
23:33are the top three, by far, of the four
23:35that we got from Playmates.
23:37Probably would then say Cemetery is my favorite, number one.
23:39Which again, we've already looked at those in separate reviews.
23:41Then Kang and Kodos, just because again,
23:43it's Kang and Kodos.
23:45And then probably after that would be the
23:47ironic punishment.
23:49Well, of course, the characters.
23:51Also, when you have them on display, there's always going to be, again,
23:53that one character that ends up standing out.
23:55Homer Kong was really the one that stood out from the Cemetery.
23:57Willy usually is the one that isn't on display.
23:59Because I usually just like to have
24:01when I've had these sets on display,
24:03I usually like to have Willy kind of displayed
24:05on his own.
24:07I guess really that is the only one,
24:09because Kang and Kodos were such bigger figures
24:11that we only got three figures in that set.
24:13Because of course, then we also got ourselves Homer.
24:15The ironic punishment is, again,
24:17a really neat looking set.
24:19I think it visually looks stunning,
24:21but it still is a problem when it comes to connecting these characters.
24:23Now again, you could always cheat and still really use
24:25the demo settings.
24:27You're probably not going to be getting as many of the audio clips,
24:29but at least you'll be getting some.
24:31And you're not going to have to also worry about
24:33every single time attaching these characters properly
24:35onto their posts.
24:37Despite sharing quarters with conveyors,
24:39you can actually get, this time around,
24:41all four characters featured with the environmental play set.
24:43Couldn't do that quite though with the Cemetery set,
24:45because sometimes poor Homer Kang
24:47always has to sit that one out.
24:49But Willy though, fits in there
24:51with both Marge and Homer.
24:53And of course, you can have Hugo on the conveyor like that.
24:55It doesn't mean, unfortunately,
24:57that you're going to be able to get audio on all of them,
24:59because there's only three connecting pegs.
25:01The connecting ports are always going to still be an issue
25:03when it comes to picking these sets up.
25:05If you have these,
25:07or you even have some of the other
25:09Simpsons environmental interactive environments,
25:11you probably already just have them on your shelf.
25:13You put the characters that you want to put on them.
25:15Once they're in place,
25:17you usually just leave them alone.
25:19Unfortunately though,
25:21when it comes to Halloween ones for me,
25:23once I finish reviewing them this time around,
25:25and then I put them on my shelf,
25:27they're going to be going back in the box
25:29and back into storage after Halloween is done.
25:31I feel like they feel more valuable to me.
25:33There's more nostalgia with the idea
25:35of bringing them out only during the Hallows season
25:37that I don't see them all year round.
25:39And maybe for that, because of that,
25:41I have to refresh your course
25:43every single time I open up the box again.
25:45And then I realize,
25:47I hate attaching these characters
25:49onto their connecting ports.
25:51They never quite work.
25:53One thing I did show you in this review
25:55is that you can set these to demo.
25:57And it doesn't just work necessarily for this one.
25:59It works with all the others as well.
26:01It's obviously the way that Playmates designed these
26:03in the first place,
26:05that if they were being sold in stores,
26:07you'd want to be able to have the kids go up
26:09and say, sure, you could at least do that.
26:11You can also do that as well with these sets.
26:13Just have them on display, set them to demo,
26:15and just press the buttons anytime you want.
26:17Sure, it loses some of the interactivity
26:19of them, because when you attach
26:21one character, and you already have
26:23ones attached onto their connectors,
26:25then it usually cycles through not only
26:27the audio clip of the character you just added,
26:29but then it also seems like they're having a conversation
26:31because then you can get the audio clippets
26:33from the other characters as well.
26:35Let me know down below in the comments section
26:37if you guys have had the chance to pick up
26:39the interactive environment of Ironic Punishment.
26:41There was, again, the one that we got
26:43from McFarlane Toys. A little bit smaller,
26:45didn't have the audio, but one I would still like to pick up.
26:47James Coco.
26:49The only thing I've ever seen James Coco in
26:51was, I think, an episode of Who's the Boss?
26:53James Coco.
26:55You guys even know who James Coco is?
26:57If you're probably old like me, maybe you have
26:59a faint idea of who the actor is.
27:01If you're younger than me, you probably have
27:03no idea whatsoever. Who's this James Coco
27:05that I keep talking about? Coco.
27:07That was me, by the way. That wasn't the candle.
27:09If you guys did enjoy this video, though,
27:11do it a solid. Throw it a like. You guys want to stick around
27:13for more, so? I hope so.
27:15Even though we are wrapping up things right now
27:17for Ironic Punishment,
27:19the irony of this punishment of mine
27:21is that I'm still going to be looking at one more
27:23Simpsons set and try my darndest
27:25to get those characters attached
27:27to give you guys some audio clips. Will I be successful?
27:29Time will only tell.
27:31You'll certainly have to check out the next review
27:33to find out. But yes, hit the subscribe, turn on that bell,
27:35do all those things, and the most important thing
27:37is that you're keeping your ghoulish peepers
27:39peeled to this channel. We're not just looking at
27:41Simpsons this time around this year.
27:43No way, Jose.
27:45We're also going to be looking at some other spooktacular things
27:47all coming to your screens
27:49during the month of Spocktober.
27:51As always, guys, thanks for watching.
27:53See you guys next time.
