00:00It does seem that Bruce has had a bit of a bad dream.
00:03Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, Batman v Superman, Nightmare Batman.
00:26Gotham City's formidable forceful vigilante
00:29takes on Metropolis' most revered modern-day savior
00:32while a new threat quickly arises,
00:34putting mankind in a greater danger than it's ever known before.
00:37You wouldn't think that Kal-El was a killer before.
00:39He certainly does, after his dream.
00:41How about before we get a closer look at the McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse,
00:44Batman v Superman, Dawn of Justice, Nightmare Batman.
00:46How am I ever going to get that all in the title?
00:49I'll worry about that a little bit later.
00:50Let's first grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
00:52And then I'll, of course, on either side,
00:54bring in some of the other movie figures from Todd and his team.
00:57Starting, though, first, Nightmare Batman is going to stand at exactly 7 inches in height,
01:02or the figure is going to be 18 centimeters tall.
01:05As for the subject of Bat's nightmares,
01:07here's what the figure looks like with the Justice League release,
01:10Henry Cavill's Superman.
01:11There is also, as well, a Henry Cavill
01:13that's going to be released as a two-pack with Doomsday.
01:15I have that currently on order.
01:16I'm just kind of waiting for the mail to figure out what they're doing.
01:18And, of course, we will be bringing the Cavill Superman back
01:21when we have a look at that two-pack.
01:23Let's bring in some other Batman, though.
01:25Here's what the figure, though, looks like with the Batman v. Superman regular Batman.
01:28Of course, let's not knock over Nightmare Batman in the process.
01:31One of the problems, though, with Nightmare Batman that we'll talk a little bit about in this review
01:34is that the figure is a little bit more back-heavy
01:36because he's got all this extra plastic in his trench coat.
01:38He also has a very similar style of issue
01:41when it comes to the tactical suit Batman,
01:43being that he has the plastic cape.
01:45Batman v. Superman, Batman now has a fabric cape.
01:47He doesn't seem to have as much of that issue.
01:49And just recently, also, we had a look at the new Gal Gadot version
01:52of Wonder Woman from Batman v. Superman, as well.
01:54And here's what the figure looks like with her.
01:56Maybe, while I was bringing in the other movie figures,
01:58I should have first had Nightmare Batman attached onto the following thing.
02:01The figure does come included with a display stand.
02:03I could just rhyme through the following things.
02:05The fact the figure comes always included with these types of display stands.
02:08And yet, there's always still the DC logo down below.
02:10And there's always, again, that peg, the far corner,
02:12that can plug into either one of his feet.
02:14By now, I probably should have just had this written down on a cue card.
02:17Oh, wait, I do have it on a cue card.
02:19No, I don't.
02:20Same type of display stand.
02:21We'll just move it off to the side.
02:22I'm not going to keep it close and on the ready,
02:24because I know with this figure,
02:25he's definitely going to need it when we wrap up this review.
02:28I won't be using this, though, for the wrap up of this review.
02:30The figure does come included, also, with a trading card.
02:33A really nice side profile of Ben Affleck's Batman.
02:36I still think that Michael Keaton, for me at least,
02:38is my most favorite movie Batman.
02:41But Ben Affleck probably is the most comic accurate.
02:43Again, really nice image of him.
02:45I'm glad, again, they're using source material like this.
02:47And down below, we've got Batman v. Superman.
02:49Dawn of Justice, Nightmare Batman.
02:51Does anybody really add on, tack on Dawn of Justice?
02:54Or do we just kind of say Batman v. Superman?
02:56Dawn of Justice seems sort of so unnecessary.
02:59I know it was sort of going to be the start chapter
03:01for what will be a grander trilogy,
03:03and it just never really played out.
03:05On the back of the card, a little bit of a disappointment, though,
03:08is that the real name does stay Bruce Wayne.
03:10That's not a disappointing thing.
03:11But the fact, though, that the paragraph read,
03:13I think it's the same one that we got with the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman,
03:16it doesn't really make any mention at all of Nightmare Batman,
03:19nor his nightmare itself.
03:21It just sort of gives us a very generic,
03:22this would be the kind of thing you would read
03:24on the back of VHS cassette tape,
03:26or obviously now a Blu-ray or 4K.
03:28Just again, I feel like they probably could have added
03:30a little bit more, tacked on a few things.
03:32We've got this extra real estate space down below.
03:34Fill in the gaps, my friends.
03:36Tell us a little bit about the nightmare.
03:38Tell us a little bit about how Batman's worried
03:40about Superman vaporizing everybody with his heat ray vision.
03:43Anyways, let's move that off to the side.
03:45Now, unfortunately, though, one nightmare
03:47that's still plaguing the DC multiverse line,
03:49you can kind of see how I've segued that over,
03:51is that the figures don't come included with guns.
03:53Nightmare Batman would have been the strongest contender,
03:56I flail my hands in the background,
03:58for a character that should have really come included
04:00with some accessories of the firearm variety.
04:03Sadly, though, while he does have trigger-firing finger hands
04:07on both sides, I look like a stewardess directing you over to his forums,
04:11while he does have those kinds of hands,
04:13he doesn't have a gun to hold in either one of those hands.
04:16What he does, though, have, though, is a binocular.
04:18A pair of binoculars. Why do we call it a pair of binoculars
04:20when it's really clearly just one?
04:22It does fit into his hands, so, I mean, again,
04:24if you want to have the figure displayed at least with something,
04:26just basically pry the plastic a little bit away from the palm,
04:30and before it goes back to the way it was before,
04:32we just quickly dash in there with the binoculars.
04:36And, of course, you can have Batman looking through the binoculars
04:38if you want to. The figure does have, technically,
04:40double hinges on his elbows, so if, yeah,
04:42Batman does want to be looking through binoculars,
04:44I'm not really going to be helping him at all against an evil Kryptonian,
04:47but still, there's something that you can put into his hands.
04:49I just don't feel like the figure should have come in clear with anything else.
04:52Something else.
04:54Eventually, I will be also picking up one of the other things
04:56that sort of is finding its way,
04:58slowly trickling its way through the mail.
05:00I'm also getting the battle-armored Batman
05:02that's going to be fighting against Superman.
05:04Batman v. Superman. Why am I talking so fast?
05:06Slow it down a bit.
05:08I also have that figure, by the way, coming my way.
05:10I probably will end up using maybe one of the guns,
05:12maybe the grenade gun, maybe,
05:14displayed here with Batman.
05:16I just feel like he needs something more than just binoculars.
05:18Technically, he does have one other thing
05:20with his binoculars.
05:22The figure does also include his goggles.
05:24The goggles are, in the movie,
05:26just something that basically wears over top of his eyes,
05:28and at one point, he lifts them up.
05:30Do we see them all the way up?
05:32We see them up. Do we always see them down?
05:34I don't know. I'd have to go back and watch the movie again.
05:36But you can have them, though, displayed
05:38just above his head, as a lot of times
05:40when we see the images of Nightmare Batman,
05:42he's sort of having always sort of the same look.
05:44I know what you're thinking, though.
05:46It's fine and good to have the goggles
05:48on the top of his head like this,
05:50but can you actually put them on his eyes?
05:52Here's one, though, struggle that you're going to be facing,
05:54is that he's got, first of all,
05:56a brow of his cowl.
05:58It's going to make things a little bit more difficult
06:00when it comes to trying to get the goggles over top of that.
06:02There is, though, a workaround to this,
06:04as there always seems to be the case.
06:06What you can do, just take the goggles off.
06:08Take the rest of his body,
06:10put the decapitated head, decapitated body
06:12down below here for a second.
06:14Take the goggles, and instead of going with the urge
06:16to have them on the top of his head like this
06:18and try to force them down, don't do that.
06:20It's just only going to scrape the plastic,
06:22scrape the paint. You're going to be upset.
06:24You're going to run up the stairs,
06:26and you're going to tell other people
06:28that I told you to do that. Don't.
06:30Instead, what you can do, take the goggles
06:32and run them from the bottom.
06:34Basically just feed them up the back of his cowl.
06:36One of these days, I've used too much moisturizer.
06:38It's going to be a struggle, of course,
06:40trying to get the goggles up there.
06:42Basically, just do your best to feed them
06:44up the back, I guess the bottom of his head.
06:46Feed it up that way.
06:48Now, with the goggles in place,
06:50then you can go ahead and put the head back
06:52onto the neck like this.
06:54Now you've got Batman with the goggles.
06:56It obviously looks a little bit better
06:58if I can get this strap all the way up there.
07:00This whole time doing this, too,
07:02I keep pricking myself. There we go.
07:04It's probably best advised to do it from the bottom.
07:06Don't do it from the top. Stop that.
07:08In the meantime, though,
07:10what I will do is I'm just going to bring the goggles.
07:12Actually, you know what I'll do.
07:14All that work.
07:16Let's put the head back onto the ball joint,
07:18which, again, is a bit of a struggle
07:20because while you're doing this,
07:22you don't want to put your skin against
07:24the points of his cowl.
07:26Again, bad day for moisturizer.
07:28Let's take the goggles.
07:30We'll do what we were doing before.
07:32Just sort of, again, slide them down his head.
07:34I guess it is a good thing
07:36that the goggles were separate.
07:38Some could really rather make the argument
07:40that the goggles could have just easily
07:42been molded to the rest of his face,
07:44but I kind of like the idea that they are separate
07:46and then you can choose for yourself
07:48whereabouts you want to have them on the figure's forehead.
07:50While, though, we are looking at the figure's forehead
07:52and the face around it, I did, though, want to bring in...
07:54Oh, hey, hi there.
07:56I did want to bring in the Batman v. Superman Batman
07:58because I did want to show you
08:00with my own eyes the same used head sculpt.
08:02The face, though, to be fair,
08:04is a little bit lighter on the coloring for this one
08:06and a little bit more darker and grimier
08:08for the Nightmare Batman,
08:10but it does, though, seem like they are using
08:12the same head sculpt.
08:14The wrinkle placement, if we were to kind of start
08:16to look at apples to apples here,
08:18or bees to bees is, of course, Batman.
08:20Batman starts with a B.
08:22It does look, though, that they are using the exact same
08:24head sculpt piece. Now, you can make the valid argument
08:26maybe it's not, but it does look, though,
08:28like a similarly shaped head.
08:30Of course, the body is very different, though.
08:32It doesn't look at all like they are using...
08:34Maybe they are. I mean, I'm looking at
08:36the torso here. It does look like, obviously,
08:38his emblem is wider on his chest
08:40than it is on this release here.
08:42The trench coat, though, is a separate piece
08:44from the rest of his body.
08:46While you may be thinking to yourself,
08:48could I take the jacket off? No, you can't.
08:50You can't. The reason why you can't is
08:52the sleeves of the jacket are still going to be left behind,
08:54so it's going to look a little out of place.
08:56It does seem, though, that the jacket is completely
08:58removable. I don't think, though.
09:00It's also pegged on the back of his body.
09:02I don't see a peg anywhere to be found.
09:04The trench coat, for the most part,
09:06I think needed to be a little bit
09:08darker and brown the way it looked in the movie.
09:10I feel like it's a little too beige.
09:12Down below, also, they've added all this...
09:14I guess... Is this just dust and dirt
09:16from the desert? Because he's fighting, obviously,
09:18the parademons in the desert.
09:20I think they probably could have gone a little less gray
09:22and a little bit more brown.
09:24It looks so different
09:26from, really, the beige above it.
09:28I feel like the gray stands out a little bit too much.
09:30I would have gone, I think, with a shade like this
09:32and maybe just darken it a little bit more
09:34with brown down below here.
09:36The sculpting of the figure is really good, though.
09:38I never really had an issue with the initial
09:40Batman v Superman, and if it be the case
09:42that this is, in fact, the same head sculpt
09:44that they were using before, that's not a bad thing
09:46at all. The sculpting, again,
09:48on the chest looks good. You've got the scratches
09:50across the front of his emblem. That looks good.
09:52Got some nice stretched wrinkles there
09:54on the front of his torso, down below by his abdomen.
09:56There, of course, is a utility belt.
09:58Something also that he also gets this time around
10:00he has another belt, although it's not
10:02painted here at all. He's got a strap
10:04there on the side. That's one thing that hasn't
10:06also been painted. I suppose there probably could have been
10:08an opportunity that they could have gone in there and painted
10:10some of the areas, because there are a few sections
10:12like the belt and the strap on the side
10:14that look sort of unfinished.
10:16Down below, of course, you've got your standard
10:18Batman boots. I don't think...
10:20Just looking again, looking at the two, maybe they are
10:22the exact same boot. Maybe they are, in fact,
10:24the exact same footwear, and they have
10:26the same matching pegs on the bottoms of their heels.
10:28For the figure's articulation
10:30for Nightmare Batman, going back to, of course,
10:32his head sculpt, being that the collars
10:34are down like this, it makes things so
10:36much easier when it comes to rotating his head all the way around.
10:38The head can look up, if he's looking
10:40at parademons flying around him. He can also
10:42look down as well, as he's feeling
10:44defeated, all strung up with a string.
10:46Of course, you can also
10:48hinge the head back and forth also as well.
10:50Now, so the upper torso, if I can
10:52kind of just get behind the jacket here,
10:54is on a full ball joint rotation.
10:56Lower down on that as well, the abdomen
10:58does also have a ball joint there too.
11:00The arms can easily rotate all the way
11:02around. You can get a T-pose
11:04quite effectively here with Batman. It doesn't feel
11:06like it's too hung up here.
11:08There's also a swivel there where
11:10the bicep connects to the shoulder.
11:12The figure does also have a double hinge on the elbow.
11:14Hands, while you only have one
11:16pair of hands with this figure's release,
11:18you can, of course, rotate that all the way around.
11:20You can also hinge them back and forth just
11:22a little bit too. We kind of peel away
11:24the curtains. Legs do split out. They're on ratcheted
11:26joints. Still, though, they are using
11:28the softer trunks down below here.
11:30I mean, again, it's one way to kind of keep the look consistent
11:32with the rest of the mold. I know some people don't
11:34really like that. I prefer that
11:36at least, so you're not seeing visible joints.
11:38The legs, though, move forward. They move
11:40back. Of course, they move out. There's a
11:42swivel there at the top of the thigh. Double hinge
11:44possessed on the knee. And while there's no
11:46articulation here for this part of the boot because
11:48it's just one sculpt continued from the calf,
11:50the figure does have at least ankle
11:52pivot back and forth, ankle rocker
11:54that way. And yes, the figure does have
11:56toe articulation as well.
11:58Other than just really one issue
12:00where the figure, first of all, is missing guns altogether.
12:02I know, again, that's one thing, unfortunately.
12:04Don't expect to get guns with any of these
12:06figure releases because you're just going to be disappointed.
12:08You're going to be disappointed. But I'm sure, though,
12:10with all the other accessories I have in my
12:12tickle trunks and totes, I could probably
12:14find a gun that's suitable for bats here.
12:16Or, again, when I eventually get that armored
12:18Batman, I could probably maybe pillage some
12:20of the accessories that came in clue with him.
12:22And maybe display that with this version of Batman.
12:24And, of course, the one other thing is the figure
12:26is a little bit more back heavy because he does
12:28have now some additional plastics that's been used
12:30for his trench coat. It's almost like the figure
12:32does need a display stand.
12:34The figure does come in clue with a display stand.
12:36All in all, though, it's a nice looking
12:38Batman. I feel like the colors maybe
12:40could have been a little bit browner. But other than
12:42that, I do like the fact that we are getting this release.
12:44This, also Nightmare Batman,
12:46I think also got packed along with a battle
12:48damage or a battle armor Batman
12:50as a two pack. But beginning that
12:52I've already picked up the single release and I've also
12:54already ordered the armored Batman
12:56on his own, there's no real need for me to get
12:58the two pack because I feel like it's going to be the same figures
13:00inside. So I did go back and rewatch
13:02that scene again. And sure enough, Bruce
13:04is only ever seen with the goggles covering his eyes
13:06at the very beginning of the Nightmare sequence
13:08where, of course, he's got the scarf covering
13:10over the front of his face. For the rest of
13:12that entire scene, Batman battling to
13:14the very bitter end, the goggles are always on the
13:16top of his forehead. Now, some
13:18could have made the argument that they could have just easily
13:20sculpted the head with the goggles already in place.
13:22The tooling, though, cost involved
13:24of having to sculpt a brand new head, whether
13:26it be a tweaked head from the original Batman
13:28V Superman Batman release or not,
13:30it's cheaper on their part just
13:32to use the same mold for that Batman
13:34head and not, if anything, just
13:36the tool, the little pieces required to
13:38cast the goggles as separate
13:40pieces. I do like, though, that they're
13:42separate so you can choose for yourself how you want
13:44to have the figure displayed. I will always, myself,
13:46have the goggles on his head, but if, again,
13:48you want to have him covering his eyes, the option
13:50is certainly available there as well.
13:52The Nightmare Batman, while unfortunately
13:54sorely lacking firearms, I mean, that entire
13:56scene when he's battling the supporters of
13:58Krypton and the Parademons at the
14:00very end, Batman's got rifles,
14:02Batman's got pistols, this figure's got nothing
14:04other than binoculars. So if
14:06you're looking to replicate that scene, you may have to
14:08start to look to pillage rifles from
14:10another figure release instead.
14:12Nightmare Batman, the only other thing I would say, though,
14:14is that the coloring for his trench coat comes
14:16for me, at least, across a little bit more of a
14:18darker tan in the movie. It's not
14:20maybe the lighter beige that we get here,
14:22and I think maybe the gray at the bottom of the jacket
14:24is a little too stark when a
14:26darker brown would have worked a little bit better.
14:28What do you guys think of Nightmare Batman? Let me know
14:30down below in the comments section. Have you picked this
14:32figure up either in its singular release
14:34or opted instead to get the two-pack that
14:36came with the Battle Armor Batman?
14:38Which, because, again, I ordered Battle Armor
14:40Batman separately, there was
14:42no real need for me to buy the two-pack because
14:44I already knew I was getting the Nightmare Batman, I already
14:46knew the other one was on its way. To get the
14:48two-pack seems sort of redundant because
14:50again, like, as a collector, you only
14:52have so much of a budget to be allocated to figures
14:54when grown-up responsibilities
14:56are always looming over you.
14:58If you guys did enjoy this video, though, do it a
15:00solid and throw it a like. You guys want to stick around for
15:02more so? I hope so. Hit that subscribe,
15:04turn on that bell, and, of course, come back.
15:06We may be wrapping up things right now for
15:08a pretty grim-looking nightmare, but
15:10there will be no more DC Multiverse reviews
15:12coming your way and more stuff from Todd and his team,
15:14so making sure you're coming back. As always,
15:16thanks for watching. See you guys next
15:18time.
