00:00What's up guys, today I'm going to be revisiting the Galaxy A34.
00:04This is a phone that I actually really liked for anyone who does not like the old flagships
00:11that I recommend.
00:12You want something like a budget phone or a mid-range phone or something like that.
00:16This is a pretty solid phone.
00:17This is one that I actually thought was really decent and if you're going to pick this up,
00:22I would probably go on eBay for this one.
00:26I mean, always cross-check eBay, Amazon, Swap, or whatever, but yeah, $200 for this
00:32phone is a really good deal for an open box version or a refurbished, very good version.
00:38So I would spend around $200 for this phone because you do have the Galaxy A35 is out,
00:44so you don't want to spend around $300 because you could just get the A35.
00:49So if you are thinking about picking this phone up, try to aim for around that $200
00:53price point for sure.
00:54So let's go ahead and talk about the update.
00:57So the update was smooth.
00:58Just the common questions is, did you notice anything major with performance or anything
01:03like that?
01:04And no, everything is pretty smooth on this update.
01:08It's been really good for the most part animation-wise.
01:11Battery life has pretty much been untouched as well too.
01:14So the update and performance is pretty solid on this One UI 6.1 update.
01:19Of course, you're not going to get any of the Galaxy AI features or anything like that.
01:23But yeah, so the update is fine for the most part.
01:27Now the thing that made me kind of a fan of the A34 is that this was a really solid display
01:34here.
01:35So it's a 6.6 inch display.
01:37It's a Super AMOLED, 120Hz, it gets 1000 nits brightness, 1080p, 390 for the PPI, you can
01:43see it kind of has the old school kind of water drop notch here.
01:47And yeah, the bezels are definitely a little bit on the thicker side.
01:51Of course, for a budget phone, you know, you should expect that.
01:54But as far as like, if we're just talking about the screen quality, it's a really good
01:58panel guys.
01:59The colors are really nice.
02:01And overall, it's a very smooth panel for 120Hz as well too.
02:05And yeah, so I don't have any issues.
02:07Now for the specs, I don't see HDR 10 plus listed on here.
02:11So that's one thing that, you know, of course you're going to be missing here.
02:14But as far as the screen, it's really nice, completely flat panel and no issues.
02:19I don't think anyone would be dissatisfied with the display on here.
02:23Like I said, it's a solid display, great colors.
02:25It does somewhat decent in max brightness as well too.
02:29So if we're outdoors, it's sunny, it's okay.
02:31It's not like, you know, the brightest display.
02:34But you can kind of see it.
02:35So overall, the display on here is fine.
02:38I do really like the display.
02:39Like I said, it's a big display as well too.
02:41All right, so let's talk about the hardware a little bit here.
02:44So one thing that I've really liked about Samsung this year is that these Galaxy A-series
02:49phones look really good.
02:52Even the Galaxy A25, you know, that phone looks really great.
02:57It's an all-plastic phone, so yeah, it doesn't feel as premium as, of course, like a flagship
03:02phone, of course.
03:03But it's IP67, dust and water resistant, and everything is really solid.
03:07The buttons feel great, the overall camera layout, I mean, it looks, you know, like a
03:13standard Galaxy S24, you know, it's just a plastic phone.
03:16So I really like the design on here.
03:19You can see it kind of shifting colors as well too, which is really cool.
03:23The design on here is absolutely fine.
03:24Now, the reason why a lot of people like these Galaxy A-series phones is because they do
03:28have SD card support.
03:30So this phone does have expandable storage, which is really nice.
03:34It's a really nice hardware addition for those who are a big fan of the expandable storage.
03:38If you take a lot of videos, download a lot of content, you know, you can swap SD cards
03:42out and, you know, go on your way.
03:45So I think having the SD card on here is pretty nice.
03:49All right, so the actual chipset on the A34 is actually still a very good chipset.
03:55So we have the Dimensity 1080 chipset on here.
03:59We have also 128 gigs of internal storage and 4 gigs of RAM on this phone as well.
04:05And gaming performance is pretty decent.
04:08Now like I said, if you're someone who is trying to game on a budget, I would definitely
04:13go with an old flagship.
04:15Now you can see on here we get Smooth Extreme, HDR Ultra.
04:19Those are, you know, best settings here.
04:22And yeah guys, if you want like 90 frames and stuff like that, I would go with an older
04:27flagship.
04:28But if you're a more casual gamer, the A34 does a pretty good job here, you know, just
04:34playing at these settings.
04:36I'm not getting any type of overheating issues or anything like that.
04:40So I've been pretty satisfied with overall performance here.
04:43So if you want to get a couple matches in PUBG and Call of Duty or whatever, it can
04:48do that.
04:49But things that are a little bit more intense like, you know, maybe like Fortnite, Genshin,
04:53stuff like that, then you definitely are going to want to get an older flagship if you, you
04:58know, play games, you know, a heavy gamer.
05:00Also the speakers on the A34 are actually pretty good.
05:29They sound pretty good.
05:30There's a good amount of bass and very clear crisp speakers on here.
05:33So the Galaxy A34's cameras are still pretty good here in 2024.
05:40So you do have a 48-megapixel standard, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, a 5-megapixel macro, and it shoots
05:46in 4K30 with a 13-megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K30 as well.
05:51You got your Pro Video and Pro Mode on here as well too.
05:54And photos come out pretty good on the A34, you know, if you're going to judge it off
06:00this price point.
06:01I think these are pretty solid shots here, a lot of good detail on here.
06:06Sometimes it can struggle with white balance, but colors and, you know, overall detail is
06:12pretty good.
06:13The main lens is pretty consistent with the ultra-wide as well too.
06:19Video on here is just decent.
06:21It's not anything too crazy.
06:24But yeah, overall, like, the actual stills are great on this phone.
06:28Like I said, I think probably the most...the thing you'll notice when you see this phone
06:31is probably like the video and the low light isn't all that great on these kind of budget
06:36phones.
06:37But anything in good lighting, you'll get a really nice crispy shot for sure.
06:41So I really think the cameras are pretty decent for anyone who just wants to take a, you know,
06:45point-and-click still.
06:46This is another area where the A34 pretty much shines here.
06:51It does have a 5,000 mAh battery with 25-watt charging.
06:56The battery life is really good on this phone.
06:58Stay-at-my-time is really good on here as well too.
07:01So this is easily a phone that you could use all day and I have no issues with battery
07:07life on here.
07:08You easily can get a full day's battery life with this phone.
07:11So that's one of the, I think, the highlights with this phone.
07:15So overall, the A34, it's a very good phone still for anyone who doesn't like older flagships
07:21and you want something, you know, new and you want something that's going to get updates
07:26as well too, then the A34 is a pretty solid device.
07:30So let me know what you guys think and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
