00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be taking a look at the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
00:05This is a fantastic older flagship to consider and it's not, you know, crazy cheap.
00:12It's still $400 and I think what's funny about this phone in particular is if you look at
00:18the Note 20 Ultra, which I'm going to do another comparison with, this phone is still kind
00:22of up there, close to this phone's price at like $350 now.
00:27So $50 more bucks you can get a Galaxy S22 Ultra here and I think it's a fantastic phone.
00:33This is a phone that you can definitely keep for a long time and you won't really have
00:37to worry about it.
00:38Hardware wise, it still looks pretty good.
00:40You can see it still pretty much has a modern design here.
00:44If I can grab my S24 and you guys can see here that it still pretty much looks like,
00:52you know, a new phone for the most part.
00:55The design on here, it's not the most, to me, the most comfortable phone to hold.
00:59It's very boxy but if you can, I would say like put a case on it and it kind of takes
01:05away some of that sharpness.
01:07But besides that, it's perfectly fine.
01:09It's a really nice looking phone.
01:10To look at, IP68 dust and water resistant.
01:13You do have the built-in S Pen as well too and these are so accurate, especially the
01:19newer ones that you could do digital artwork with these as well too.
01:23If you go on YouTube, you can see people doing some serious digital artwork with this as
01:27well so that's also just a really, you know, bonus for any artist out there.
01:33So design wise, still, you know, looks really, really good.
01:37Now the screen on the S22 Ultra is still pretty much identical to, you know, the newer, you
01:43know, Ultra phones.
01:44This guy's 6.8 inch display, it's a dynamic AMOLED, 120Hz HDR10+, 1750 nits peak brightness
01:52with a full 1440p resolution, 540 PPI.
01:57One of the things that Samsung got away from was this curved design.
02:01So you can see this phone has quite a bit of a curve to it.
02:04It's got kind of like a more dramatic curve to it and it looks really good still.
02:09I think I like the curve because it looks very premium but Samsung has completely moved
02:13to a flat display.
02:15The S23 Ultra had like a, it had a curve but it wasn't as dramatic as this.
02:20But this one has like the, you know, aggressive curve to it and I like it, you may or may
02:26not like it but I think it looks still good.
02:29Like I said, very boxy phone but the screen itself, very beautiful, very vibrant display
02:34as well too as you can see and it does get fairly bright outdoors so there's no issue
02:39there.
02:40And yeah, so I do really like the display on here, I think it has aged really well here.
02:44So this phone got the One UI 6.1 update here so you pretty much get all of the same features
02:50that you get with the Galaxy S24 here.
02:54So all of the same AI features are here, the circle to search, all that good stuff is here.
02:58So software wise, this phone is still very, very modern feeling.
03:03It's going to get plenty more updates as well too so this phone is going to have a pretty
03:07long lifespan when it comes to software as well too.
03:10So that's definitely something to take note of.
03:13Alright guys, let's talk about gaming performance on the S22.
03:17So this does have the Snapdragon 8Gen1, 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM and it's
03:24very well optimized for PUBG and pretty much most games.
03:27You can see we got 120 frames on PUBG here, Extreme Plus and yeah, the overall gaming
03:33experience is pretty good.
03:34This phone can or does have the tendency to get a little bit warm but I've never had it
03:39crash on me or anything like that so you can definitely game on this phone a problem and
03:44this is pretty much for all games, Call of Duty, PUBG, basically whatever you want to
03:49play is definitely going to be playable but like I said, it does have a tendency to get
03:53kind of warm even just for like maybe like 10 minutes of just having PUBG open, it's
03:59already kind of warm.
04:00It's not to the point where it's uncomfortable but definitely it's something that I always
04:05notice with this phone and it's something that Samsung fixed with the S23 and 24.
04:10Most phones don't tend to get as warm but yeah, this phone still makes for a pretty
04:15good gaming device.
04:17I would say if you put a case on, you really won't notice it heating up but like I said,
04:20I wouldn't worry about crashing or anything like that because I've never had that issue
04:24so let me know what you guys think, what kind of experience have you had with gaming performance
04:30on the S22 Ultra here but so far, mine has been pretty good.
04:35You can easily just play games on here, no problem.
04:39Let's check out the speakers at max volume.
04:40Now, the speaker performance on the S22 Ultra is definitely, it's okay, I give it like
05:10a B-.
05:12It's not super loud and it doesn't have a ton of bass to it.
05:17You know, it's not the most impressive speakers you would expect from a flagship device.
05:21I think that's the one thing that I probably just don't kind of like about this phone is
05:25that the speakers are just kind of mediocre sounding but yeah, so the fingerprint scanner
05:30on here works fine.
05:32It is the ultrasonic so that works.
05:34You can also do face unlock as well too.
05:36All right, so image quality on the S22 Ultra is still very, very good.
05:41It's still taking pretty much flagship quality photos.
05:44It's got a 108 megapixel standard with a 10 megapixel telephoto with three times optical,
05:49a 10 megapixel periscope telephoto with 10 times optical, and then a 12 megapixel ultra
05:55wide and then that also has 8K 24 video and then you also have 40 megapixel selfie with
06:024K 60 video.
06:05So the images are still pretty crispy, great color, good dynamic range, great video as
06:10well too and I have no issues with the quality here.
06:15Just looking at it, it still looks very much comparable to the newer Galaxy phones definitely
06:20for the most part here.
06:21I think the only lens that I can tell that has really been improved from the S23 and
06:2724 is probably the ultra wide but besides that, everything still looks really good.
06:34This phone still takes great, great shots so definitely if you're buying this phone
06:38for the cameras, I would definitely say that it's still a really good photo taker.
06:44This phone also does the 100 times zoom as well too which is very cool so if you take
06:49a lot of shots or like if you're at a sporting event or something like that, you'll really
06:54enjoy this phone because it's going to take some really high quality photos for this $400
07:00price point which I think is very impressive.
07:02Now when it comes to battery life on this phone, battery life is just okay on this device.
07:09It's not, it's just alright.
07:13I would say, and I'll probably do a battery drain test to show you guys but I would say
07:17this phone gets around 6 hours of screen on time.
07:20It's nowhere near as good as the S23 Ultra and the S24.
07:24Now if you're a light user, this phone is fine but if you're a heavier user like playing
07:28games and stuff, then yeah, you'll notice the battery kind of draining on here for sure
07:33and just having little stuff like this, like the live wallpaper on kind of makes it drain
07:37a little bit more than I would like but if you notice, there's a big difference from
07:42this phone and the S23 and S24 Ultra battery life.
07:47Samsung actually made an improvement with the battery life with those two phones.
07:52So this phone, the battery life is just kind of okay.
07:55It's a 5,000 mAh battery, it does have 45 watt charging on here as well too and then
08:00you also have wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
08:04So I think the overall device for this price point is really good.
08:09I think you are getting pretty much a great phone in all areas pretty much for $400.
08:17Great cameras, still really good chipset on here, also great design still, very modern
08:22design still and yeah, software wise, it's going to be supported for a pretty long time
08:28too.
08:29So I think this is a great move for anybody who's thinking about getting an S22 Ultra.
08:33I would say yeah, definitely go for it because it's aging so well.
