00:00What's up guys? Today we got the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL versus the S24 Ultra.
00:06These are two of the best phones that you could buy right now.
00:10Google has increased the price this year so it's I guess a little bit more on par
00:15now as far as quality wise with the, you know, Ultra series.
00:19So let's go ahead and dive in and see which one would you buy.
00:22We're going to break this down into categories.
00:25So let's go ahead and get started with the build quality here.
00:28So the build quality is great on both of these phones.
00:31They're both IP68 dust and water resistant as well too.
00:35Now with the S24 you do have a titanium frame on here
00:40which does make the phone a little bit lighter for such a, you know, a big phone.
00:45I do like the look of both of these phones but with the Pixel it can pick up fingerprints
00:50which can be, you know, annoying and you can see no fingerprints on the S24.
00:56Now as far as the camera design here, they both look really good.
01:01This really comes down to personal preference as well too.
01:04They both can kind of pick up dust around the camera as well.
01:07But as far as the design, I think these are two very beautiful phones here.
01:13So we do also have on the S24 here the built-in S Pen.
01:20So if you're a digital artist, you can definitely use this and do some really great artwork.
01:27If you just look on YouTube, you see people doing amazing things with the pen.
01:31And also you can just use it as a regular, you know, as a regular pen to navigate as well too.
01:37Samsung has a bunch of built-in features as well too that you can take advantage of.
01:42And it's very, very handy if you do social media as well too.
01:46Now I do like the Pixel's design a little bit more as far as it being comfortable
01:52because as you can see it curves and it's way more comfortable in the palm.
01:56The S24, it's a boxier phone so it does kind of poke the palm a little bit.
02:02Now Samsung has kind of addressed it with this design a little bit.
02:06It's not as bad as the S23 Ultra and the S22 Ultra.
02:12But still, it does kind of poke into the palm. It's not as comfortable.
02:16But two excellent designs, like I said, really comes down to your personal preference.
02:22Now as far as the screen-to-body ratio, you have an 88.5 on the Galaxy
02:27and then you also have an 88 on the Pixel.
02:30So the Pixel has done a good job this year as far as getting those bezels in line.
02:35But yes, technically you do have slimmer bezels on the S24.
02:39But I like the design on the S24. It has a more TV-like look to it.
02:45I just think it looks more visually appealing.
02:47Again, this is all very up to the person.
02:50But the Pixel definitely is a little bit brighter than the S24 in direct sunlight.
02:56I did a little YouTube short on it if you guys saw.
02:59And you could definitely tell the difference there in direct sunlight for sure.
03:04But also what's cool and a lot of people don't mention is that you do have that anti-reflective coating on it.
03:10I can't remember what Samsung calls it, but you do have that coating on here.
03:14And yeah, the displays look awesome on both of these phones.
03:17It's not a big major difference. It's very minor things when it comes to that.
03:22But the S24 does a great job in direct sunlight as well too.
03:25But like I said, they have improved on that with the Pixel.
03:30And it looks really great when it's sunny outside.
03:32Alright, let's talk about the specs on these phones.
03:35So with the Pixel, you do have a Google Tensor G4 processor.
03:41This does have 128GB of internal storage which is absolutely criminal for a $1000 plus phone.
03:48I just want to throw that out there.
03:50But you do have 16GB of RAM on here as well too.
03:54The S24 has a base storage of 256GB and 12GB of RAM with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
04:01And this is running the One UI 6.1 skin.
04:05And as you guys can see, the S24 Ultra is a much faster phone.
04:10Especially you see a big difference in that multi-core score as well too.
04:15And the Pixel has never been a phone that's been going for the fastest benchmark scores and GPU scores and all that stuff.
04:25Google likes to direct all their stuff at AI.
04:28That's why it has such a good amount of RAM in it with the 16GB.
04:33Now, is overall the S24 faster?
04:37Yes, in my opinion it is faster and it also has better optimized the Snapdragon chipsets.
04:44If we get into a little speed test here.
04:46The Pixel is pretty much on par with the iPhone when it comes to overall performance.
04:53And just opening apps and doing just general stuff guys.
04:56You could argue that One UI animations are a little bit smoother.
05:01But this could be just some bugs with the Pixel being just released.
05:06But as you guys can see, when we're talking about opening applications.
05:09Overall smoothness is pretty smooth on the Pixel.
05:13But as you guys can see, the Galaxy is just a little bit snappier than the Pixel for sure here.
05:21Okay, let's try TikTok.
05:25So you can see, not a big difference.
05:27Nothing that you would actually really notice in real life.
05:30Alright, so the Pixel as far as gaming.
05:32And this is where it's pretty much a landslide victory for the Galaxy.
05:37It's just not as well optimized.
05:39And again, you can game on this phone just fine.
05:41There's no issues, but we don't have 90 frames for PUBG.
05:45And you'll find this throughout your gaming experience on the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
05:51It's been like this since Google released the Tensor chip.
05:55It's just not as well optimized as some of the Snapdragon phones.
06:01So definitely I would love to see better optimization for games with the Tensor chip.
06:06Because it does fine. It's not like it's overheating or anything like that.
06:09It does a really good job.
06:11But as you can see, with the S24 Ultra, we're playing at 120 frames.
06:15So if you are somebody who does competitive gaming and you want a flagship that's going to give you the best settings.
06:22It's going to be the S24 Ultra. It's very well optimized.
06:25This is across the board, Call of Duty, Fortnite.
06:29It'll just play games better in general.
06:31So definitely, you know, you have to give the gaming to the S24.
06:36One thing that has improved with the Pixel is actually the fingerprint scanner.
06:42So it used to be a landslide victory for the Galaxy.
06:46Always because the S23, S24, you know, they have this ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for a long time.
06:53And now we finally have it in the Pixel instead of the optical one.
06:56So it's pretty much identical to the S24 in terms of getting into the phone.
07:01The face unlock essentially works the same.
07:03They're both very fast. I haven't had an issue with that at all.
07:07We have these speakers at max volume. We'll start with the Pixel.
07:33Man, these are kind of close. They both sound great.
07:53These are excellent sounding speakers. I still would go with the S24.
07:57I do like the way it sounds. I think it sounds a little bit more crisp.
08:01But I think the Pixel has a little bit more bass to it though.
08:12So it really depends on what kind of sound you like.
08:16But I do like that cleaner sound on the S24. I just think it sounds a little bit more balanced to me.
08:22Alright, let's talk about the cameras, guys.
08:25So we have a 200 megapixel on the S24 Ultra.
08:30The main sensor, it's a 10 megapixel telephoto with 3x.
08:34We also have a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto with 5x.
08:38And then a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
08:40It can shoot in 8K 24 and 30 with a 12 megapixel selfie that shoots in 4K 60.
08:47Now, with the Pixel, we do have a 50 megapixel standard.
08:5148 megapixel telephoto, periscope telephoto with 5x optical.
08:55Then a 48 megapixel ultrawide.
08:58We also do have 8K 30 video and then a 42 megapixel selfie camera that also shoots in 4K 60.
09:06We are able to go up to 30x zoom on the Pixel.
09:11And we are able to go up to 100x zoom, of course, on the S24.
09:16Check out these side-by-side stills. Let me know what you guys think.
09:21Pixel 2
09:24Pixel 3
09:27Pixel 4
09:30Pixel 5
09:33Pixel 6
09:36Pixel 7
09:39Pixel 8
09:42Pixel 9
09:45Pixel 10
09:48Pixel 11
09:51Pixel 12
09:54Pixel 13
09:57Pixel 14
10:00Pixel 15
10:03Pixel 16
10:06Pixel 17
10:09Pixel 18
10:12Pixel 19
10:15Pixel 20
10:18Pixel 21
10:21Pixel 22
10:24Pixel 23
10:27Pixel 24
10:30Pixel 25
10:33Pixel 26
10:36Pixel 27
10:39Pixel 28
10:42Pixel 29
10:45Pixel 30
10:48Pixel 31
10:51Pixel 32
10:54Pixel 33
10:57Pixel 34
11:00Pixel 35
11:03Pixel 36
11:06So I do want to touch on battery life.
11:09The battery life has gotten much better on the Pixel 9 Pro XL than the Pixel 8 Pro that I was using for sure.
11:16So you definitely have great battery life on both of these phones.
11:20Now, on the Pixel you have a 5060 mAh battery, 37W charging.
11:26And you also have 23W wireless charging with the Pixel Stand and then just standard 12W wireless charging.
11:33And then you also have reverse wireless charging.
11:36The S24 Ultra has a 5000 mAh battery as well too.
11:41But this one charges slightly faster at 45W.
11:45So I would like to see Google increase the charging speeds on the Pixel.
11:49I think it's a little bit slow for a $1000 plus phone.
11:54I actually think both these charging speeds are slow compared to some of the Xiaomi phones that I've been using.
12:00But yeah, so we also do have wireless and reverse wireless charging on the S24.
12:05Battery life is really good on both of these phones.
12:07Standby time is pretty decent on both of these phones as well too.
12:11I don't really have an issue with the overall battery life on these phones.
12:17Alright, so a lot of this is going to come down to just these very small personal preference.
12:23Also some things you need to know.
12:25Both these phones have a very long lifespan as far as updates.
12:28So that's something that is actually really nice.
12:31You can keep both of these phones for a very, very long time.
12:33You won't really have to worry about buying a new phone.
12:36And yeah, so you also do have a lot of AI stuff with the software with the S24.
12:43As well as with the Pixel as well.
12:46You do have AI stuff with their Gemini that they just announced.
12:50And I do want to go over this stuff in another video that I want to do.
12:54But yeah, you do have quite a bit of stuff going on.
12:58But you'll be seeing a lot of AI stuff with these phones.
13:01They'll be adding a lot as we get more software updates.
13:04But virtually, it comes down to very small things that you would have to decide on which phone you like.
13:12Also, One UI, I think if you're a power user, I think you should definitely go with the S24.
13:18The One UI software is just way more dense than the stock Android software.
13:25Basically, this is how Google wants it to be.
13:30It's a very Google phone.
13:32Even if, for example, you go into settings and stuff like that.
13:35There's just not a lot of settings you can play around with with the stock version of Android.
13:40And also, there's a ton of features in One UI.
13:43And we're not even going to talk about Good Lock and stuff like that.
13:46Let me know what you guys think.
13:47I'll catch you guys in the next one.
