00:00What's up guys, today we'll be talking about the S24 FE versus the S21 FE as requested.
00:06And I do want to mention that the S21 FE is one of my favorite budget phones to recommend
00:11to people, so you guys will see why.
00:14This phone is very cheap as well too, it's under $200.
00:17Sometimes you can find it for like $150.
00:19This is a used refurbished version as well too, so I'm really curious to see what you
00:23guys think about this comparison.
00:26So let's start off with the hardware.
00:28You do have a matte finish.
00:29Now this is a plastic back on the S21 FE, you have a glass back on the S24, and you
00:36definitely can notice a difference.
00:38You can definitely tell this is the more kind of premium looking phone I guess.
00:42But I do like the plastic back on here.
00:43One, you don't have to worry about it cracking as easily like the glass, and then also it's
00:48a matte finish so it's not going to pick up fingerprints and stuff like that, depending
00:52on the color as well.
00:54But this one doesn't really show fingerprints because of the color I got.
00:59So this is a glossy back.
01:00Now the next thing you'll notice is actually the camera.
01:03So the camera little cut out bump is gone, and now you just have these three big cameras
01:09now on here.
01:11But as far as the hardware, they both have the metal sides on here as well too.
01:17So like I said, the S21 FE doesn't feel cheap at all.
01:21And like I said, I like the plastic back on here, it's not terrible.
01:25And then also, what you will notice is that the S24 feels a little bit kind of sharp on
01:32like the sides, but it's still smooth at the bottom here.
01:36So they're both pretty comfortable phones to hold for the most part.
01:40They're both IP68 dust and water resistant as well too.
01:45Next most important thing about this upgrade here is the display size.
01:48You now have a much bigger display on the S24 FE with a 6.7 inch display.
01:54It's Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz HDR10+.
01:57It has a higher max brightness at 1900 nits.
02:00And then we also do still have the 1080p resolution at 385 for the PPI with Gorilla Glass Victus+.
02:08The S21 FE has a 6.4 inch display.
02:11It's Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz HDR10% as well.
02:15It's still 1080p 403 for the PPI with Gorilla Glass Victus+.
02:19Alright, so one of the things that you will kind of notice here is that you do have a
02:25the specs, you have a higher screen to body ratio on the S24 FE.
02:32So it is a 88% screen to body ratio and the S21 FE reads about 86.7.
02:40So you guys can see the difference here.
02:42But what's interesting is that the S21 FE, it looks slimmer at the top though.
02:49So I always thought that was kind of interesting.
02:51So it just overall looks a little bit more premium, I guess, especially like at the top.
02:57They are kind of even at the bottom here, but it still looks kind of slimmer at the
03:03bottom.
03:04So as I said, I'm not really sure about that spec.
03:06Maybe it's because of the display size and stuff like that.
03:09Maybe that's the way it's making it look.
03:10But the S21 FE, to me at least, it does look a little bit like it's got slimmer bezels.
03:17But yeah, so overall display quality is pretty much the same.
03:21So I was asked yesterday, did I have the S24 FE on vivid?
03:26Yes, it is on vivid.
03:28And the, I don't know what's up with the newer Samsung panels, but they just aren't as colorful,
03:34I guess.
03:35Samsung had this problem with the S24 as well too, with these panels not being as vivid.
03:43But yeah, so that's one thing, but they still look pretty good.
03:46I don't think most people would really notice.
03:48But yeah, excellent display.
03:50So I would say the biggest thing here with the display upgrade is really going to be
03:55the max brightness.
03:57So that means that if you're outdoors and it's sunny outside, you're at the beach, this
04:01phone will look much better than the S21 FE.
04:05And yeah, so that is pretty much it.
04:08Like I said, there's not really too much with the display here.
04:11Let's talk about the specs a little bit more here.
04:13So we do have the Exynos 2400E on the S24, and then we also have 8GB of RAM and 128GB
04:22of storage.
04:23The S21 FE, we do have the Snapdragon AAA processor with 128GB of internal storage and
04:306GB of RAM.
04:31You guys can see the score difference here.
04:33You do have a pretty nice score difference here, especially in that multi-core score.
04:38But overall, this is going to be a much faster phone in general.
04:42Check the app loading and animations.
04:44Now, they're both running One UI 6, and I do want to talk about that.
04:50But we can see the S24 is going to be a little bit snappier.
04:54The S21 FE is not really slow by any means.
04:57And animation-wise, it's pretty much still very, very smooth for the most part.
05:06I never really see this phone really lagging and stuff like that.
05:11Let's try Geometry Dash.
05:17So you guys can see they're pretty much on par.
05:19So that's why I always tell people not to really worry about speed, especially with
05:22the flagship processor.
05:24They're really built to last.
05:25Now, one thing you will notice is that this phone will get a lot warmer than this phone.
05:30This phone has really been impressing me with how cool it's been.
05:33Let's go ahead and launch a game here.
05:37And Andreas.
05:44Yeah, pretty much on par with each other.
05:49Very, very impressive.
05:55Yeah, guys, so I would say overall, slightly a little bit faster on the S24 FE.
06:04Animation-wise, the S21 FE still does great.
06:08And then let's talk about the overall gaming experience here.
06:12Gaming has been fine on here.
06:13There's not really any game that I haven't been able to play on the S21 FE.
06:20Like I said, the thing you'll notice is that this phone will heat up a little bit.
06:23And we're at the highest settings on San Andreas here.
06:27And the S21 FE, this phone will do a much better job with gaming.
06:33So I'll show you guys.
06:34We'll hop into PUBG here.
06:37But this phone, it will do a better job with gaming.
06:40I would say if you're more of a competitive gamer, then you'll definitely like this phone
06:48here for the most part.
06:49But this phone looks really good when it's also gaming as well too.
06:52So if you are a gamer, I would say it's a pretty decent upgrade.
07:00But if you're a casual gamer, it's not really necessary.
07:03So an example of this is for a game like PUBG.
07:07We can see there's no 90 frames or 120 frames on here.
07:11It does play very smoothly at 60 frames.
07:14So like I said, you can game on this phone, no problem.
07:17But if you are a more competitive mobile gamer, then you'll see here that we can actually
07:23play at much higher settings on this Exynos chipset here.
07:34So you guys can see we have 120 frames on here.
07:36So that's kind of like the big difference you'll notice with gaming like Fortnite, Genshin,
07:43PUBG.
07:44These games are going to be just run better on the S24.
07:47All right, so let's talk about the cameras on both of these devices here.
07:52So the S21 FE, it does have a 12-megapixel standard and 8-megapixel telephoto with three
07:58times optical and a 12-megapixel ultrawide.
08:00It can shoot in 4K60 with a 32-megapixel selfie that also shoots in 4K60, and you have 30
08:07times max zoom.
08:08On the S24 FE, we have a 50-megapixel standard and 8-megapixel telephoto.
08:14We also have a 12-megapixel ultrawide.
08:17It shoots in 8K30.
08:19And we also have a 10-megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60 here, and this one also
08:24can go up to a 30 times max zoom.
08:28So check out these side-by-side stills.

10:18Speakers at max volume, we'll start with the S21 FE.
10:48So it's definitely a big upgrade in the bass department.
10:58Yeah, overall, this is a pretty good speaker upgrade.
11:05It's making the S21 FE sound flat, honestly.
11:08I didn't know it was that flat.
11:11Yeah, it's just, it makes it sound flat.
11:15It makes it almost sound like there's no bass there.
11:18So yeah, so the S21 FE, decent speaker, but you can clearly hear the upgrade here.
11:24So definitely a better speaker.
11:26As far as the biometrics go, they're both still rocking the same fingerprint sensor.
11:31So they both still have the optical fingerprint sensor, which works.
11:34You can also use face unlock as well.
11:36All right, so I do want to talk about the software here.
11:39So the S21 FE, it does not have the Galaxy AI features here.
11:45It's got the circle to search feature here, but that's pretty much about it.
11:50This phone will also still get a few more updates as well too.
11:54The S24 FE will actually get the full seven years of updates as well, which is really
12:00nice.
12:01And then also this phone, it does have the Galaxy AI features.
12:05Now this is something that is basically something you have to care about here.
12:10I'm not a big fan of the AI stuff yet.
12:12It's not super, super useful to me.
12:13I do not like circle to search, but Samsung has a lot of stuff on here, like the photos
12:19application can do a lot of AI stuff.
12:21You have the translation assistant on here.
12:24The notes can summarize.
12:25You've got live interpretation, call assist.
12:28So there's quite a bit of stuff that you can do with the Galaxy AI.
12:30It's got the drawing, so you can draw stuff and it will turn it into AI art and stuff
12:36like that.
12:37So it's something that you have to kind of care about.
12:39The AI stuff will get better as the years go on as well too.
12:42So this is just kind of like the beginning of Galaxy AI.
12:46So definitely if that's something that interests you, that could be a big factor in you upgrading.
12:50Talking about battery life, surprisingly the S21 FE does not have bad battery life.
12:56So it's got a 4,500 milliamp hour battery, 25 watt charging.
13:00It's also got the wireless and reverse wireless charging.
13:03And it's pretty much the same thing with the S24 FE besides it has a slightly bigger battery
13:09at 4,700 milliamps.
13:11But all the rest of the charging specs are still the same.
13:15So did I notice a massive battery improvement?
13:18Not really.
13:19One thing that I noticed is that the S24 FE has better standby time.
13:24But that's pretty much it.
13:26Like when I first got this phone, I was always surprised at the battery life.
13:29Now if you're doing more intense stuff, then this phone should do better in terms of battery
13:36life if you're more of a power user.
13:38But if you're not like me, I'm a lighter user so I didn't really notice that.
13:42You can get through the day with the S21 FE pretty well.
13:46So that is pretty much it.
13:48That pretty much sums it up.
